Menu is basically the same from when I went last year, so I got one of their specials on my latest visit in late November. FRASER VALLEY DUCK CONFIT SANDWICH: It was $10.95 for one egg and $16.25 for two eggs. Poached egg, cart-made Hollandaise, spinach, crispy cracklins, and cart-made marmalade. Loved the toasted English muffin. Perfect poached egg. Cracklins were amazing. Marmalade brought everything together. The spicy ketchup is delicious. It's more sweet than anything else, but still goes well with the sandwich. HOT CALLEBAUT CHOCOLATE MILK: $3.50 for 12 oz. A total win on a chilly morning. Right outside the Stadium Skytrain station, on the corner of Dunsmuir and Beatty is where I indulge in some of my dirties, most sinful desires - fried chicken and waffles. Yolk's Breakfast will make me compromise almost anything. Those things, thoughts, and actions that separated between a low carb, high fiber, vegan friendly, clean living is thrown out the window like yesterday. The rush of that panko crusted chicken breast (juicy like a thigh) drizzled over with maple syrup and gravy have me weak at my knees. Then the chicken is sandwiched between a fluffy patties of Belgian waffles begs the question - am I in heaven? Good God, this is the breakfast for champions. A medley of sweet and savoury. You better head on over buddy if you still don't know what I'm talking about. Another favorite of ours is the Yolk's Breakfast Sandwich topped with a poached free-range egg over panko tempura avocado and salsa verde, aged white cheddar on a toasted English muffin could have you cheat despite the law of consequences. Self induced food comas are inadmissible, even Alice in Wonderland 'Eat Me' solution had unpredictable consequences. Hallucinations of emerald blue seas, starry savasana, or David Beckham may appear. Poached egg perfection. This food truck stations itself right outside of my apartment. Every Thursday and Friday morning, I'll walk by on my way to work, smelling the delicious bacon... I'll vow to myself to wake up early enough on the weekends to pick up breakfast, and subsequently forget. After enduring this for weeks, we finally made it down for the 5 minute line up, 30 minute wait for food, and got our hands on the most perfect mobile eggs benny I've ever had. Heed their pre-meal caution: "Here's the wet nap. The egg explodes. Eat carefully." My usual order: One Egg, Hollandaise, English Muffin. Skip the coffee - too acidic for my liking - but go for the 'special juice.' Oh, and the service is fantastic and ever so friendly. Was delighted to find this little breakfast spot. 5/5, for sure. Service: friendly and attractive. Is that relevant to a food review? Whatever. Food: delicious! I got their coffee, which was coffee, and their "special juice" (strawberry banana), which was yummmy. Wish I had some right now! The skewered home browns were flavorful and a perfect soft/crispy texture, and the side of ham steak was delightful. I loved their spicy ketchup, too. Ambiance: adorable. I got Yolk's breakfast at West End Farmers Market on Saturday in Nelson Park. I got smoked bacon, real hollandaise, double everything. Hash brown and lemonade. The yolk in the sandwich was awesome. The sauce was very good. The potato taste so good. First I thought it would be kind of oily. But it was not at all because of the lemon (or vinegar?) Lemonade was not sweet at all. I really liked it. Was traveling to Vancouver and Yolk's food truck was two blocks from my hotel. One of my friend that lives here told me I absolutely had to try their breakfast sandwich. So, on my last day in town I decide to do it. Went for the ham/spinach english muffin with white cheddar. And added an extra of truffle-oil/lemon hash browns. Have to say it was pretty tasty. Costed a little over $15 for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, but all worth it. Next time I would probably try the hollandaise instead of white cheddar. read more

Just went to Yolk's since the last time I walked by it was too early and they did not open yet. Had the original "double-smoked bacon / arugula with hollandaise sauce on an english muffin. It was just OK. Didn't wow me. The home made sauce was tasty but it was definitely not worth the $7.50 charged. I was about 4th in line at the cashier and took another 10 minutes to get my meal not the speediest but atleast it's fresh! On the positive side, they do have a pretty tasty home made ketchup and some other unique salsas to drizzle on top of your sandwich. I've since learned their "free range" eggs are supplied from Golden Valley eggs in Abbotsford. This was really dissapointing for me as I thought they were supporting local farmers raising happy chickens. Golden Valley is the largest egg distributor/ supplier for BC and their free range are a perfect example of how a label doesn't always tell the truth. This is a factory farm who, in my opinion is exploiting the label. Anyhow, thanks to yolk's I learned I love poached eggs and will be enoying my own at home from now on :) I understand they have a large demand to keep up with so it might not be reasonable to only use truely local free range eggs but it would be nice to offer that option for an additional charge for those of us who want to ensure the hen's receive a better quality of life. EDIT: My boyfriend doesn't care for eggs (ever) but he loves Yolk's chicken and waffles and we still direct our out of town guests to Yolk's for that along with their other menu items because while I may be particular about my eggs, not everyone is :) read more

Holy poached eggs batman. This was hands down the greatest breakfast sandwich I've ever had off a truck, and its pretty high for a breakfast sandwich I've had anywhere. Hands down the best meal I had in Vancouver. The "hash browns" (they were really fried potato chunks) on a stick were a little odd at first, but grew on me. Amazing! Came in here since it was the only breakfast in the area I was at within walking distance that wasn't Starbucks. (Side note - I'm from Seattle, so I can't stand Starbucks anyways and had no interest in buying anything there, but at the time I wouldn't have been able to anyways, as their card machine was down and I only had American cash on me.) Located where the old long-standing Brave Bull restaurant used to be on Kingsway and Hastings. Decor reminds me of Red Wagon restaurant.... nothing fancy kind of dirty but tolerable. They easily accommodated my gluten free vegetarian diet (although FYI, they deep fry glutenous items in the same deep fryer). I had their portobello mushroom option, it came with a oozy soft poached egg, arugula and hollandaise. to make it gluten free they put it on their hashbrowns, YUM. First timer last week after many drive by "ooh eggs to go!" days. Order taking was friendly and informative. The menu items were variations of egg sandwiches with choice of hollandaise or cheese on top. I don't eat bread and asked for options and they gladly switched a bed of potatoes for bread. I ordered 2 eggs with bacon and opted for the hollandaise topping and pros and cons are as follows.... Pros Nice presentation with touches of spring onion and greens. Hot, made to order. Very nice quality ingredients. Friendly service. Loads of flavour. Eggs were poached just the way I like them. Cons Person finishing the food by hand was also playing with her hair - a no no for me. A bit heavy handedly seasoned with a few bites having a tongue burning amount of salt. Hollandaise seems to be made with lime vs lemon and the lime overpowered the other flavours. Was not asked how I like my eggs so if soft poached is not your thing or you are grabbing to go while in a suit, you may not be pleased. It took exactly 15 minutes to get my meal with 1 person in front of me. Not ideal for food truck time standards. Also got a coffee (very mild, unremarkable) and the total was just over $15. A bit steep for what was in the box. Conclusion - glad I tried it, will keep exploring our City's many breakfast options. read more

OH. MY. LORD. I'd been meaning to try Yolk's every since a friend instagrammed one of their amazing breakfast sammies. Unfortunately for me, until recently it was not open on weekends, and since I don't work downtown, breakfast here was but a dream. That recently changed when I had a staycation week and decided to hit up this little food truck with a pal on a weekday morning. Holy hell. This might take the cake as one of the best brunch spots in Vancouver. For something like 12 bucks including tax and tip, I got one of their veggie breakfast sandwiches, a skewer of potatoes and a coffee. The breakfast sandwich had on it the most perfectly poached eggs I have ever had in my life. Soft poached, but no runny white? Yes, please. They also had the perfect amount of toppings (in this case, mushrooms and spinach), the perfect thickness of fluffy and soft ciabatta, and the silkiest, tastiest hollandaise imaginable. Next, the potatoes. OMG. EAT THE POTATOES! These potatoes were the perfect balance of soft and creamy on the inside while being crispy on the outside. They were lemony, truffley and sea-salty without any of these flavours overwhelming any of the others. They were a pure delight. They didn't even need ketchup or hot sauce. The coffee was also really good, and perfectly rounded out our breakfast experience. The sandwich also comes with some wetnaps, which is great, because you're gonna' need them. We rushed and got here at 2:40pm on a weekday after a night-shift and the restaurant was slowly clearing out but I truly believe that this place gets pretty busy during brunch hours. We decided to check out this place for breakfast because I saw some very yummy pictures posted by a friend the other day. I had called prior inquiring about their last call and I was happy to hear that they will still serve us as long as we get here before 3pm (that's when they close). The restaurant is bright and clean, chic and urban looking. Their menu selection is decent with various combos and add-on's with extra charges here and there. A breakfast can easily cost you 15 to 20$ per person as i have paid over 40$ for the two of us. We tried the double poached egg with ham with Holandaise sauce on English muffin with a side order of lemon hash browns (additional 4$) and the quality and taste was quite good. They do have spicy ketchup and regular ketchup which is something different to try for fun although my friend said it just tastes like ketchup gone bad. We of course also ordered the fried chicken on waffles. My friend is usually the picky eater and he really liked the fried chicken although I wish the portions could be just a teeny bit bigger. The waffles were nothing special and one of them was soggy by the time I got to them. The staff are friendly although we jokingly thought our server might be on something as she seemed to be a bit off while taking our orders. Public transit and meter parking available. read more

Holy food truck yumminess! We visited Yolks after discovering the wait to Cafe Medina was going to be too long. We opted to give Yolks a try since it was just parked up the street. I ordered the carved ham and egg sandwich with a side of truffle lemon potato skewers. Our daughter ordered a serving of pancakes and my husband ordered two sandwiches for himself and the potato skewers. The entire wait for all of our food was 7-8 minutes. Since it was cold out, we took the food home and I sat with the bag full of goods on my lap. The awesome smell that was coming from the bag was killing me. When we finally got home, we dug in and...wow! The potatoes were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The sandwich was like an explosion of flavor and it had me wondering how so much flavor could be packed into such an unassuming sando! The hollandaise sauce was to die for and the egg on top of the sandwich literally exploded, coating the rest of the sandwich with yolky awesomeness. Our table was silent as we devoured everything...aside from the chomping and the "mmmmms" and "ahhhs." I didn't try the pancakes, but they were definitely kid approved. We later visited Yolks at a food truck festival outside of the art museum and seeing it parked there was like seeing an old friend again. My only regret is that I didn't order more. read more

The breakfast sandwiches are amazing and obviously made with quality ingredients (tip: if you are on the go and want to avoid a messy sandwich, ask for the eggs poached medium). The hash browns on a stick - the tastiest potatoes I've had in my life. The raspberry goat cheese pancakes are a huge serving and very tasty. And I've just tried the chicken and waffles, and will now be a regular for chicken and waffles Friday! The coffee is good, the cider is good. I've tried a few other item too... All good.
