Like most fo-yo places, you start by choosing your bowl size. I believe they have 12oz and 16oz here. They've got it all here... cookie dough pieces, sprinkles, gummy bears, diced fruit, broken up candy bars, cheesecake bites, drippy caramel, fudge... the list goes on! This time around I opted for a bit of the oat-milk-based chocolate + the Irish mint fro-yo combo. It was truly a replica of a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie and I couldn't have been happier about it. Like that their pistachio frozen yogurt is the eighth wonder of the world. Or that they have the best cookie dough topping of any fro yo place I've tried anywhere in the world. And that combining those two things in a small bowl is better than most people I have and have not dated. Combined. If the gods are out to get you and you pop in on a day that they don't have pistachio, you probably deserved it. But since you haven't been struck down yet, use the sample cups to try any of their other flavors, they are all quite good and you won't be disappointed. I've been to Yo Factory three times, twice with my nieces/boyfriend and once by myself because I was craving their Very Berry flavor (which unfortunately wasn't an option that day except for the prepackaged ones). So they do rotate flavors but of course always have the staples such as plain, vanilla, etc. always on tap. It's a simple idea really, you pick your frozen yogurt flavor(s) and load up on the delicious toppings. Then you hold your breath while they weigh your creation, hoping it doesn't cost more than a pack of smokes. But all of the yogurt shops around have similar pricing, it's just a matter of how delicately you build. They also have a punch card which is nice, buy 10 and get the 11th free up to 5 oz. It's my personal opinion that every food/drink establishment should have a punch card system so I love it here. What else...the place is clean and bright, you can try free samples if you're buying (careful they come out fast), and they have a cute little table near the window with coloring options, quirky books and a nice people watching view. It's nice to finally find a yogurt place that's close and within walking distance. I'm a yogurt lover and enjoy all the topping on-top of plain yogurt. Their plain yogurt has a strawberry taste to it which I don't like, because when you think of plain it shouldn't have a flavor. And they didn't have a lot of fruit selections but overall the place was very clean. I hate to be that guy but being asked to tip is pretty offensive. you serve yourself, weigh it out yourself, seat yourself ect.. all the cashier does is make you pay and show you a screen asking if you would like to tip 20, 25, or 30%.. like come on ?? I worked as a server for many years. setting and resetting tables, keeping drinks full and plates cleared, and attentively serving guests assuring that they had everything they needed. Working for $2.33 an hour and spending at least an hour with every table. You're already charging $7 for soft serve, pay your staff! This is getting absurd. read more

Time for an update. This is my favorite froyo place in Milwaukee. The employees are always super nice, they say hello and goodbye to everyone and are quick to refill anything. The seasonal ideas this place comes up with are phenomenal. In the fall they had build your own caramel or chocolate apples. This summer they just started acai bowls! Lately they've also started serving vegan froyo in rare flavors like blue moon if that's your jam. My favorite flavor to date is the caramel Nutella and my favorite sorbet was the gauva, passionfruit. And of course my favorite topping is still the warm Nutella! Their flavors change regularly so you have to keep up with their Instagram to know what's on tap. I'd love to see them add another machine so they could expand their flavors even more! I like Yo Factory! It's close and they have puppy chow!!! I will keep coming just to get puppy chow! They're toppings are great. I wish they had more non-dairy flavors that aren't fruit. They have about 7ish, standard flavors each time so they don't really stand apart from other places, but there really isn't another froyo place around. Also, when I go and first pour a flavor it's all melted, and I don't really like having soup-y froyo in my cup. I don't know if it's ok to pour the melted froyo out before putting it in the cup. My first time was on Friday (today is Tuesday). I am the Yelp Duchess. So yeah, you could say that I like Yo Factory. Flavors: awesome! So far, I have had: chocolate, vanilla, pomegranate raspberry, blueberry, orange sorbet, Irish mint, cheesecake, cake batter, watermelon, and classic tart. The only flavor to date that I have disliked is cake batter -- but I don't like anything cake batter flavored (it blows my mind how people like it!). I am overall impressed with the selection of toppings. Fresh fruits rotate but almost always include strawberries, mango, and kiwi. They also have fruity bubba (which are strange fruity caviar-like bulbs that you squish in your mouth and the juice comes out), lots of different chocolate candies options like reeses, butterfinger, toffee, rice crisp, heath. They also have cereal options (which I don't get, but maybe someone is a big fan?), and m&ms. A variety of fruiting syrups (which I have not tried) and also big pumps of white chocolate syrup, dark chocolate syrup, and caramel. Atmosphere: really inviting and comfortable! Love the old school jute box (which is fake and runs off an Ipod!), love the trow back counter and chairs, all around love it! The staff was very friendly, approached us and asked if we'd been there before and explained how it worked. They are always pleasant at checkout. Why 4 stars? Price. A tad pricey. We usually end up somewhere around the $9 mark for two small containers. But Yo Factory definitely beats out Berry Me in comfort and taste/texture of fro yo for the same price. read more

I really like this frozen yogurt place! It's honestly pretty standard but they have a nice rotation of flavors. I've had the original tart and recently tried the candy bar flavor. Their new protocol during COVID has been very professional and efficient. Basically you wait behind a line and table while an employee fills your cup for you. You choose your size preference, flavor, and toppings all without touching anything yourself. You can even still ask for samples. Although Milwaukee has started to open up more fully, I still appreciate when restaurants and cafe's take the precautions seriously. In reality, it's fairly pricey since they do it by weight. They offer around 8 flavors of yogurt plus more topping options than you can shake a stick at. But that's the problem. You start layering on the toppings and suddenly your yogurt is $10. Avoid the gummi bears, the cookies, the cookie dough, the brownie bites, and some of the heavier candy bars and you should do just fine. They also offer up smoothies and blended coffee drinks. The blended coffee drink is a bit rough, I wouldn't recommend it unless you like chewing your frapps. The smoothies are really good because you get to pick all the flavors yourself. read more

Yo Factory is BY FAR one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee. The atmosphere is just simply cool. They showcase art from local artists, bump some sweet tunes from their jukebox, and have lots of books and games to enjoy with friends. During summer the outdoor seating is limited, but awesome if you can snag a seat. Prime people watching spot. They offer an ever-changing flavor wall. They have your standards like Tart and Vanilla but they also offer some really unique flavors like Snickerdoodle, Toasted Coconut, and they've even had a Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor! My personal favorite is Cake Batter. Best part of all of this: they allow you to sample them! Pro tip: they post their flavors every day on their Instagram and Facebook! Toppings here are awesome. They have cereal, cookie dough, fruit, candy, puppy chow(!), marshmallows, nuts, and nearly everything in between. Some of my personal favorites include the cheesecake bites, any flavor of boba, and the marshmallow sauce. They also have warm Nutella sauce! While the regular yogurt in a dish with toppings is delicious, I would strongly recommend you try the fro yo shakes! You get to pick your own flavors and toppings and they mix it with some milk (soy is available) and voila! They'll also mix the shake with some coffee/espresso which is equally delicious. read more

Yo Factory has a group of dedicated workers who make sure that customers always have a great experience. I placed an order today, September 27th, for a Sunrise Bowl (on another note: order this!!!!) and went inside for pickup. I was told that it was just being finished up and that it would be up in a second. The order was slightly overfilled and overflowed onto the counter, so they very politely asked if I would be okay with waiting for a remake. I had no issue waiting and told them to take their time. When they finished, they handed the bag directly to me and apologized for the wait (I think I ended up standing inside for a total of three minutes overall). I was immediately impressed, but it didn't stop there. Upon arriving home, I opened the bag to find a bag of puppy chow and a punch card on top of my order. They really went above and beyond for such a tiny issue! Needless to say, Yo Factory will be who I recommend to anyone looking for fro yo or any other of their menu items. There were seats outside too (which was good, cuz the a/c was set at 'arctic' inside on this beautiful day.) Anywho...its all very clean and well managed inside. They have coffee and a bunch of smoothie flavors if ur not in a froyo mood. I got cake batter, banana and chocolate flavor. All were good but the banana had a bit of a fake jello banana pudding flavor imo. At the topping bar some highlights included mochi (think marshmallow gummi bears) , boba in flavors like lychee (think the sensation of eating that bubble wrap you played with as a kid - and then exploding lychee juice,) and reeces peanut butter sauce (yea peanut butter!) Also more cereal toppings to the right on the wall that r a little easy to miss. They had lots of other sauces , fruit, and toppings I'm forgetting too. Soooo...I might be a convert. They usually have the flavor themed by the season which just so happens to be October right now, which means I get my pumpkin fix. The pumpkin pie froyo is so satisfying. To me, I love just getting the froyo plain so toppings are not a big deal for me. They do have a pretty wide selection, cereals, syrups, candies, nuts and fresh fruits. So if you're into that, they do have a solid selection. My boo and I go at least weekly if not more. Like the Facebook page and you can learn the favors they have on tap. The flavors I tasted were all yummy, but I'd say the chocolate and fruit-based flavors were by far the best. They had a unique variety of toppings, including all the popular cereals. However, I'm not sure why anyone would want cereal in their yogurt. The fresh fruit was good, and I would like to see a larger selection in the future. The only fruit items they had when I was there were strawberries, kiwis, and mangos. They offer 3 sizes of cups (big, huge, and obnoxiously huge) and charge by the ounce. I was not prepared for the price of my relatively healthy, and not that big, berry and fruit-topped fro-yo concotion: $7@!!!?!!? It was a nice space and will get a lot of business from the North Ave crowd. They are open pretty late (I beleive the door said until 10-11pm) on a nightly basis. I will definitley come back but will be creating a much smaller treat for myself. I really want to give this place 4 stars but the price threw me off and I have a difficult time understanding why they charge so much for something so simple that you make yourself.
