Date of visit: February 21, 2025 Fro yo used to be my jam, my bag, my thang. I would indulge as frequently as I possibly could during the frozen yogurt boom of the mid-2010s. But like so many things, the magic faded and many of the locations closed and with it, my ease of access to this chilled deliciousness! Yo Mama was one of those favorite places to go and when I found myself directly next door at Loup, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pop in and see what they had. Imagine my excitement when I saw that they had THE BEST flavor of all the flavors, pistachio! (If you don't agree, just stop reading now, please.) But it was disappointing that the toppings were all locked up and I had to wait for Rylee to finally appear before I could get my cookie dough fix. Walked to Yo Mama! on a hot afternoon for a nice cold treat. Got their smallest cup size which is a perfect snack size for one, and tried the amaretto cherry, green apple, and traditional tart flavors. For toppings I asked for blueberry juice balls and mochi. I really liked the green apple and traditional tart flavor, and could have done without the cherry froyo flavor. Loved the soft mochi topping as well! As for other topping choices, I wished they had more fruit choices and variety; when I came they ONLY had strawberries. I was hoping they'd have perhaps mango and blueberries at least, but alas only one fruit option (hence the 1 star dock). Will come again! read more

It's a teenage boy's dream come true. Careful, they charge by weight. I can't remember how much the boy's cuppa frozen fabulous cost but I can tell you he put pretty much everything but the kitchen sink in that cup with little thought to how the items might pair (gummy bears and chocolate syrup? I mean...sure). It was a dentist's nightmare. I went for a simpler combo of chocolate fro-yo with mini M&Ms. Classically delicious. But, hey. No judgement if you like oreo cookie crumbs paired with fruity pebbles and marshmallows? Go nuts. This is the spot for it. There's a small amount of seating indoors as well as some tables outside. There's also a grassy area with benches right across the street, which is where we chose to enjoy our sweets. Or, of course, you could wander The Village with cup in hand. Came here from a suggestion from my best friend and her boyfriend and I'm glad I came!! When you first walk in it's so colorful and fun! The staff was really friendly and offered face masks to us for free for those who didn't have any. They weren't the plain hospital type masks either! They were tie-dyed, camo colored, blue, pink, hearts etc. Super cute!! I want to say they had under 10 flavors but a lot to choose from for their toppings. They had it blocked off for safety measures and their staff poured the toppings for you. Behind you from that station though you were also able to pick your own toppings such as cereal and other candies. The flavors were fresh and so were the toppings. Their to go napkin set with a spoon was so cute too! Great quality spoons (sounds weird, I know haha but they weren't flimsy). It's in such a great location too, very pretyy. It's FroYo! What's not to love? From the outside, the place doesn't look like a whole lot, but surprises are in store. We went later at night, and there was plenty of parking on the street and the parking lot across the street. The inside is roomy and lit well. I was with a group of 14 or so and we all were able to comfortably sit in the back leaving plenty of room for additional parties. As far as the FroYo is concerned, this place is great! Lots of toppings, and there are little cups to use to taste away until you settle on a flavor(s) of your choice. In addition, ice cream is also available at the register in case that's what you prefer. I mixed my cup with the sugar free chocolate and the salted caramel frozen yogurts. Topped it with some peanut butter cups, Oreo crumbles, and Cap'n Crunch (best decision ever!). The mixture was sweet and salty, and the crunchy toppings complimented the creamy FroYo nicely. The pricing is all by weight of your cup so there's no limit on the amount of toppings to add in (bonus!) For FroYo places, I think the do it yourself option works best. Sometimes I forget this place has employees!! The cashier never says anything to me. Literally, not a peep. I walk in. Nothing. I scope out the froyo flavors like a ninja. Still nothing. I contemplate putting my head under the fro-yo machine and considering the cup optional. She still doesn't even glance my way. The moment of truth....I set my yogurt on the scale. She speaks. Oh-My-Gawd!!!! She barely mumbles the total. Sometimes she doesn't even do that and I have to look at the register myself. I pay and then run for the hills. Well I take that back, sometimes I have to come back because I forgot the spoons. Not the best customer service, but the fro-yo is simply delicious. I literally only come for the delicious toppings. My fave is the watermelon fro-yo with strawberries, kiwi, and whatever other fresh fruit available, popping boba and mochi. Fro Yo might be a millennial trend, but if it's wrong I don't want to be right. In terms of what it provides, Yo Mama doesn't have much that sets it apart from any other yogurt shop. I didn't count but i would estimate there are about 12 flavors (including the "mixed" ones) a few of which are fruity, a few traditional and a few gelato, as well as abundant toppings. What i have noticed, making them worthy of the 5 star, is it's always clean and well stocked and employees are always smiling and friendly. The little outdoor area is cute and attaches to the wine bar next door... great for a date night outing. Location near to public parking is convenient too as parking in the downtown tosa area can be challenging. Love it, will be back many, many times! read more

Love Yo Mama! It's literally blocks away from home and a nice healthier alternative. I am a Pinkberry girl and the Yo Mama original tart compares well with that. They have non tart flavors if you're a fan of that, as well as a no sugar and no dairy option. All the nutritional info is clearly posted. The store itself is clean & modern with Eames style chairs and some outdoor seating. The frogurt line can get a little sticky underfoot as the place is overrun with kids and families. My husband had a chocolate and mint swirl and liked it a lot. Feeling virtuous, I choose the original non fat variety and promptly covered it in about 500 calories worth of candy. Yum, yum, yum! This is a great business in the village of Wauwatosa. It's nicely styled, serves good products (Alterra coffee and bakery), and their selection of frozen yogurts is solid. I'm a longtime fan of Milwaukee's custard joints. It's hard to beat Kopp's or Leon's, so I approached the premise of a frozen yogurt joint with trepidation. The thing is, their yogurts are really good! Today I mixed blueberry and grapefruit with some fresh berries and it was delicious. It doesn't really compete with custard--it occupies a different spot on the dessert spectrum for me. I want an Oompa Loompa NOW! I ended up eating homemade chips n salsa for dinner tonight after a long weekend of working on a research paper, and realized i deserved a treat! Having heard all the rave about Yo Mama I texted some Tosa friends and was on my way. I was overwhelmed at first, but the friendly workers smiled and explained the process to me. Which starts with a variety of fro-yo (some fat and sugar free) to serve....SELF SERVE! Who doesn't dream of grabbing the handle of a soft serve machine and creating a masterful swirl atop the bowl! And then the toppings.... I think next time i'm filling my bowl first with toppings and topping it off with fro-yo! You think of it...they have it. I started off very classic with a dutch chocolate and alpine vanilla combo. Atop the fro-yo i added plenty of marshmallows, cookie dough, and "smores" thingies that were awesome. My friends and I love stopping into Yo Mama to get froyo and then leave to eat it elsewhere. The restaurant shop is kept clean and as in order as it can be. However, being a froyo place it brings in many young children as well as loud high schoolers who tend to spend a lot of time inside. Also the parking around the Tosa location can be tricky as they do not have their own parking lot so you have to search for street parking which can be tough depending on what time you head in. They always have at least 8 flavor options and offer samples to paying customers. You can choose from three different cup sizes before you begin. They offer over 30 toppings-They have many tubes filled with dry topping options (cereals, buts etc), they have another area with fresh fruit, candies, and much more as well as fudge/caramel. They used to offer dividers for your cup which I wish they still had because I don't like when I get two flavors and they touch so I typically stick to one flavor now! You pay by how much your frozen yogurt weighs which for me is usually around $4.50 which seems to be a reasonable/typical price for froyo. Its a great addition to food/dessert in Tosa and we can all always find something we like! read more

My favorite are the boba balls and mochi. You can sample all the flavors. The machine gives you a generous sample. First I truly miss the Brookfield location. Mostly the wonderful staff, Denise & Christina had to be the best employee's, best customer service and overall great people. You just don't get that at the other location. My family and I still frequent the Wauwatosa location (support local small business) but just not the same. I really like the flavors this place has. I always have to do the original tart flavor, but my next favorite was the root beer. At first I was hesitant that it would taste kind of funky or artificial, but it was surprisingly tasty. Not overly sugary either, which is also a plus. They have plenty of toppings to choose from so you can customize it however you please. I like the outdoor seating there. Parking can be a little bit tricky because it is in a busy location. Parking in the front is kinda strange because you backwards park into the spots. They also have a side room where they hold celebrations. Since there is a global pandemic some people don't want to leave the house, but Yo Mamma is a safe environment. They have hand sanitizer at all the entrances/exits. They also have hand sanitizer where you pick out the ice cream. A worker comes out regularly and washes all the do-it-yourself toppings and the do-it-yourself ice cream. The worker at the toppings station uses gloves and switches them regularly, and to be extra safe there is plexiglass covering the toppings stand so no germs will be spread by people or the workers on the toppings. At the register, the cashier will weigh your cup and give you a spoon. Instead of giving back the spoon due to covid, u get to keep them. When you sit down the chairs are spread apart and so are all the tables. Due to the pandemic workers have gotten a little crabby, but not at Yo Mamma. These workers are cheerful and very nice.
