My wife and I had lunch here today. Good meal, had the jalapeño cheese burger with fries. The wife had the BLT with tater tots. The only concern I had was the seasoning on the burger, needed some salt and pepper but everything else was good. My wife felt like the oil needed to be changed on the fryer. Her tater tots were a little funky but I gladly shared my fries. They didn't seem to have a strange taste. I would go back. I saw a lot on my menu I would like to try. read more

We loved this throwback restaurant. The prices were good and so was the food. My hamburger was huge but it was really good and I finished it all. The kids had chicken strips and French fries and loved them. We got a hot fudge sundae for the girls and I had to taste it of course. It was crazy good. The girls ate the entire thing. There was tons of memorabilia all over the walls with statues of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe inside. The service was great. Stopped in due to the name and photo's found online. The atmosphere did not disappoint! The place is very nostalgic to wander through and look at! But, don't go for the food. We had the Saturday all you can eat fried catfish. Worst catfish I've ever had, and I've had a lot. I don't think they know what seasonings are. We sprinkled on lots of salt and pepper to try and get something to taste edible because we were both starving. The pinto beans tasted like ranch style beans. The coleslaw was just off. I only had one bite and it tasted like it was going bad. The tastiest thing was the hush puppies, which I assume were frozen. Definitely stop in for the cool decor, but just have some ice cream and go somewhere else to eat. read more

Service was decent and the people are nice but thats where the good news ends. My chicken fried chicken was so chewy and over cooked it was almost impossible to cut with the butter knife they gave me. The house made mac & cheese tasted ok, but it was ice cold. Plus they are so poorly staffed we had to wait 20 for a table, even though the place was half empty. read more

First things first, DELICIOUS AS HELL! Second, the service was great, we went here for my little brothers birthday and had a blast when the original Scooby doo intro played! There's all you can sing 50's music that fits the vibe in every way, not to mention miss Monroe with the classic fan pose in the middle of the diner. Prices are quite decent too. Recommend if you want to go somewhere for a themed part, girls night out, bachelor/bachelorette part, or even just to have fun with the family! My monkey was attending church camp so we drove 2 hours to drop him off. On the way there, I saw this place and the old time memorabilia caught my eye. A few days later we picked him up and he was out of the movie Nel he was speechless, burnt, and full of bug bites but THAT appetite was still there. We stopped at the restaurant and sure enough this 80s kid went Back to The Future. The servers were dressed in 50s motif and very friendly. You are totally consumed by the posters, black and white TV's, life size statues of Marlyn & Elvis. Monkey aka Nel ordered chicken strips, Mother of mokey Raspberry chicken our little rhino had kids portion chicken strips and my big belly saw the all you can eat catfish so as Betty Boop said boobo bidup CATFISH it is for me. Our server was nice and efficient with providing us with information from the menu. The portions size are awesome and worth the price. The chicken strips were huge not your regular processed size with easy breading. The Raspberry chicken was delicious according to monkeys mom. The catfish had no flavor but with pickled jalapeños and tartar sauce it made it tasty. It was all you could eat and bringing the portions took time (insert the look Lurch gives in the Adams Family) We had room for something sweet so we shared a warm apple pie and brownie Sunday which were scrumptious. The apple pie is made in-house in a warm skillet. We drove back 2 hours satisfied and Nel fell asleep in the car on the way home. Ok, so this place is super cool! We live in Ft Worth and don't make it out here often, but when we are in the area, we like to stop in. The ambiance is great but the food is even better! There is so much to look at, the wait for your food seems almost non existent. There is also mini juke boxes at your table where you can control the volume of the music - 50's of course! We've had the chicken fried steak, hamburger steak, catfish, fries, mashed potatoes, okra, green beans, just to name a few. Also, the peanut butter chocolate shake was to die for! Service is always good and staff is friendly. They also sell merchandise if your interested. We never have, but it's cool to look at as well as all the memorabilia. If you're in this area, I suggest stopping by, even if it's only for a plate of piping hot fries and a milkshake. read more

The whole restaurant had really cool decor. I was in town for a birthday trip. We actually ate there twice. Their Brownie Sundae was pretty amazing too! We were there. Truly authentic 50's American diner from the decor to the food! Fantastic food! The Tuesday special was"Mom's meatloaf" and it was as good, even better than my Mom's meatloaf! And all the fixins too. The best part was their special apple pie with brandy butter sauce. WOW! And we don't really like apple pie! The root beer float was just like I remember them. The service was very friendly and personable. We told them it was our first visit and everyone was actually excited to introduce us to the best items on the menu. Came by for lunch and I have to say that my order lacked freshness. I ordered the chicken fried steak with Mac & cheese and fried okra, and a side of fried pickles. The pickles and okra were good, but the Mac and cheese was clearly days old. I could tell by how the elbow pasta had been pieces apart. The chicken fried steak was old and was not good at all. The meat was tough and tasted disgusting. Don't know if we just ate at a bad time, but regardless of the day or time, that meat that was used for the fried steak was old. read more

My family and I were driving to Texas tech and found this hidden gem of a place. We walked in and right away I noticed how cool the ambiance is. It was like a trip to the 50s. A jukebox, Guitars on the walls, wax figures of people like Elvis Presley, It was really a sight to see. When we were seated we had Maggie as our waitress, and she was very personable and knew what she was talking about. She recommended some different meals, and they all sounded delicious. She was always refilling our drinks, and attending to our table. Btw she had only been working three for 3 weeks. The food was very delicious. I got the chicken sandwich and it was so huge and crispy, juicy, and tender. The portions were big especially for the price. They also have the world's best pecan pie there. We came through on a way to a training event. We had 7 adults. The ambiance was amazing. Your waitress was so attentive and sweet. The food was just meh. I had the all American retro burger with fries. The meat was so over cooked I couldn't even cut it with a fork. My. O worker got all you can eat catfish. It was just okay, but he was starving and asked for more. It took 20 minutes and at that point he didn't want it. My other coworker went to the dessert menu before we ordered. He wanted apple pie as he saw on the pictures on Yelp before we arrived. When we ordered our meal the waitress said they were making more and it would be 20 minutes. Good. Timing would be perfect. After he finished his meal he asked. She came back as Ms said still in progress - 20 more minutes. We waited as our other friend was waiting on fish. Hard to describe how bad this place was from the moment we walked in the door. Arrived with a party of 6 for dinner and approached the hostess stand. Right from the arrival, we witnessed two hostesses arguing over where to seat people. Plenty of open tables but we just waited patiently while they made their decision where to seat us. A couple minutes later one hostess obviously flustered told our group we needed to go out to the foyer area and sit down. We told her we don't mind standing and waiting. At that time she screams at my father that we needed to go to the foyer area to wait. At which time he told her no, we don't need to go out to the foyer, we need to go somewhere else with our business. At which time we drove down the road to Dos Chilis Grande. We have eaten here many times and there is a reason we do. Great Food, excellent service, friendly waiter and waitresses. And even with our waitress serving our table of 6, plus a table of 12 and a table of 10 with 4 kids, we never waited for chips and salsa, our drinks were refilled promptly, and food was delivered hot within very reasonable time. Yesterdays keeps the same attitude as they did with our party and they will end up out of business quick. Yesterday's is one of my favorite places to eat in Bridgeport Texas. They are located just off highway 380 so if you headed through Bridgeport it is worth your time to stop. The theme is the 50s its like jumping back in time when you walk in there. It truly is a charming nostalgia atmosphere. Thats nothing compared to their food. It is amazing! They start you off (if you want) with a large choice of appetizers. All of the food they serve is wonderful. My favorite is their fish. They also have memorabilia for sale got a Yesterdays tee shirt I love and other things as well. What ties all this together is their friendly staff. "Nostalgic design meets mediocre food" would be a better slogan here. No, it's not that Yesterday's is a terrible venue, but one would bet loads of cash (as they probably have) that the allure would be a great substitution for only fair food quality. Endless loops of 50's music, one can hear the likes of Valli, Avalon, Presley, Fats, and many others. If you're into that genre, then you'll be in listening heaven. If you're like me, it is its own certain kind of hell. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak (for some reason), with mashed potatoes and green beans. No, it wasn't terrible, but it WAS absolutely tasteless. There's something about the unappealing flavor of meat that tastes like it was cooked in last month's oil. Not good. Green beans were undeniably canned, and the potatoes were definitely from powder (box). Gravy was actually up to par, but one can't go wrong with a cream gravy mix that only requires heated water either. The menu offers an array of other choices from burgers to enchiladas. Yes...you read right...enchiladas. Evidently, these culinary delicacies failed to establish their fame in any vintage 50s film that I've ever seen, or maybe the director just couldn't vision Frankie asking Annette to "pass the enchiladas, please," in "Beach Party." First impressions are always lasting impressions. Such it is for this restaurant.. Greeted very warmly when walled in and served promptly. For me, the decor was pleasing with all the throw backs. I had a cheeseburger and it was quite tasty, very pleased with the meal. Only draw back was the fries, not enough to warrant a star removal but worth noting that they seemed flavorless, like nothing there except blame deep fried potatoes.
