We love trying mom and pop non chain restaurants and this one did not disappoint!!! We split the chicken fried chicken dinner. Added a side salad and let me tell you it was more than enough! The chicken draped over the platter. It was so tender and juicy and that batter.....not too thick, crispy, perfect! We like the sides-pinto beans were flavorful and not salty like some are. Green beans are canned but still tasted good. They gave is a piece of almond cake for dessert. All of this plus 2 teas were around $20!!!' What a bargain for this quality and quality. This review is for food only as we only did takeout. Will return again for the dine in experience. We have always seen this place packed full of people, so of course we wanted to check it out. We called in an order over the phone - 2 chicken fried steaks with scramble eggs. Hash, and biscuits with gravy. We picked it up about 20 minutes later pretty easily enough and went straight home to catch it while it's still hot. The chicken fried steak was well seasoned, the eggs lightly scrambled and seasoned well and the gravy was just the right thickness. Biscuits were good and fluffy. Overall, really good for takeout! Would love to return and update my review after grabbing a seat in the rush hour or finding a time where it's a bit less crowded. read more

We had a great visit to this restaurant. We had drive to Aledo fro. FT. worth for a football game and stopped.on 9-15 around 1:30. We had never been here before. I had a Rider Omelette and my wife had a grilled chicken salad. We had great service from Jess (i think that was her name) The food came out fast and it was perfectly prepared. I loved the way some of the veggies were on top of the omelette.!!!! I highly recommend this family restaurant/diner to anyone who is visiting Aledo. read more

We decided on a road trip since it was such a nice day, and headed west to Aledo, a town we'd never been to before. Since the Diner has generally good reviews we decided to give it a try. We arrived at about 11:15 and it was busy enough that we were asked if we'd be willing to share a table with another couple. Since it was a table for six, we were able to leave chairs in between us and the other couple and not feel too close to strangers! My husband ordered the chicken fried steak dinner - CFS with mashed potatoes, corn, a dinner roll, and sweet tea. Kudos for a real pounded and breaded steak, not a preformed patty! It definitely covered half the plate, and hubby cleaned his plate. I got a club sandwich with fries. The sandwich had nicely toasted bread and was well-filled with turkey, lettuce, tomato and bacon. I wish the fries had been hand-cut but they were pre-frozen crinkle cut, and were not at all hot when they got to me. It was a generous serving, however. I probably could have asked for them to be replaced with hot fries, but I wasn't super hungry anyway. Service was good, all employees seemed very friendly, and it was overall a good experience. If we're in Aledo again we'd gladly pay the Diner a second visit. read more

This place is a regular lunchtime spot for me. The daily specials are priced low, with a great verity. Service is excellent to outstanding, depending on the obvious. First time stopping by this establishment. Don't know why I haven't come by sooner! Stopped in after a dental appt, around 9am on a Tues., walked in, sat down, ordered our food, served our food, got the ticket, paid and left. All within 25 minutes. The waiter was very nice and attentive. I got a Spanish Omelette (not sure if that's the name), but doesn't matter because it was delicious!! It came with toast and hash browns and all of this was cooked perfectly and super yummy. My daughter had regular eggs with hash browns and she loved her food as well. We were out in Aledo on a rainy Friday at lunchtime. Looked on Yelp and found this little place. When we walked in every table was full, but we didn't have to wait but just a few minute. The ladies running the place are very nice and service was good. I had chicken fried steak with two vegetables and my husband had fried catfish with two vegetables. Both were excellent and the serving sizes were just right. For the price I would definitely go back here again. read more

It use to be good. When we came here the first two times it was great and then the service just declined. And then they changed owners again and now we don't even go here anymore. One of the hidden gems of East Parker County. I have been going to the Aledo Diner for over a year now, at least once per week. It is a hidden gem and locals love it. The food and service will compete with any other diner in the area. I have tried many of their items and never left thinking it could have been better. The staff is great and prices are comparable to other establishments in the area. The chicken strips seem to be hand-breaded at the diner as the uniformity you see in many other places is absent, and that is a great thing. I would give them six stars or even ten if that was the mark. read more

First time eating at Aledo Diner - really enjoyed it. Place was full when we got there at 12;30, but a table opened up shortly after. Place is old time - original diner - nothing fancy, and with really good food. I had the Corn Beef Hash (outstanding) along with 2 (correctly cooked) over-easy eggs with hash browns, 2 (very good) biscuits with gravy. All for the princely sum of $6.50. She had a quite good burger along with outstanding Onion Rings (made correctly and cooked to perfection). I will certainly be back when we are in the area. My sister and I stopped in this little diner to eat lunch while out shopping today. It was one of the best shopping decisions we made! She ordered the beef tips over rice and ordered as one of her sides, a cucumber salad. The beef tips were, melt in your mouth, delicious! And the cucumber salad was to die for! In fact, she said she could eat a whole bowl of just that and be happy! I had the most amazing chicken fried steak I've ever eaten! Fresh round steak, with beautifully seasoned breading. I opted for turnip greens as one of my sides. Perfect decision! Like my sister, I could have eaten a huge bowl of them! I think, they were the best greens I have eaten out at a restaurant, in many years! We ordered sweet iced tea with our meals, it was not too sweet, and tasted fantastic! Neither one of us could finish our meal, as the helpings were way more than generous!!! We took half our meals home to enjoy again tonight (except the salad and greens, we scarfed those down). In an era where many restaurants are raising their prices higher than the rate of inflation the Aledo diner remains committed to keeping their prices affordable. Now the food is a bargain but it doesn't taste like a bargain. The catfish on Fridays almost always sells out as does the beef tips and rice on Thursdays. Think home cooking meets Tex-Mex cuisine. Their hamburger steak is amazingly delicious with perfectly cooked onions and a savory brown gravy that is making my mouth water as I write this review. The hamburgers are also top notch and cooked the way you want...medium or medium rare are not a problem here! The breakfasts here are legendary and reportedly are responsible for fueling Aledo's 10X state championship football teams during the season. read more
