It was decent. Came about 1:30. They close at 2. Our server was pleasant and our order didn't take long at all. My wife had meal from the senior menu. $6 for a decent meal with plenty of food. I had a Chicken Fried Beef sandwich. The sandwich wasn't amazing (really thin meat) but was decent. Fries and rings were crispy and yummy. We'd come back.

Out in the middle of no where diner. I had breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, whole wheat toast and coffee. They offer jams, jellies and artificial butter. The atmosphere is plain and they play country music on the radio. As far as food it's good, it's not on the high quality side. Eggs are good, hash brown good and the toast is common. The staff is friendly and it appears the local folks come in and enjoy themselves in rural small town out in-no where diner. It's not a Dennys or iHop. It's quaint. Breakfast will be about $10. 00 a person.

Sounds like it was called "The Shed" ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-shed-weatherford-4 ), but now it's called Manny's Cafe. Unless you enter from the west end of the building, you must walk through David's to get to Manny's. It's an odd experience, and you really wonder if there is a place to eat back here... But keep walking, and follow the signs, and you do find a sit down restaurant complete with table service. Breakfast and lunch is served. We came for lunch. For lunch I had a burger. Thuy had the catfish. Burger was OK. Nothing fancy. Just your basic burger with LOPT (lettuce, onion, pickle, tomato). Thuy's catfish is more noteworthy. I don't think it was a frozen product, and do believe it was cornmeal battered to order, as where the onion rings, which came highly recommended. Very tasty. It was a neat dining experience, and glad we tried it. Also, special shout out to the woman working the dinning room. I forgot her name, but she was super sweet and friendly, and answered our numerous questions with a smile. Oh, and the tip on the onions rinds was appreciated. We are glad we ordered them! Afterwards, we did wander through David's, and that was a neat experience too. Cell service is kinda sketchy, but there is free WiFi (see photo). Bottom line: Kinda wish I had tried the previous place too.

A Total Jackpot for Foodies and History Buffs Alike!…read more Just a bit off the main square in Decatur sits an absolute treasure that completely blew us away. We happened upon The Whistle Stop quite by accident, and it instantly became one of our favorite finds. The location itself is pure Americana gold. It sits right next to the iconic, 1930s-era Petrified Wood Gas Station--a stunning roadside marvel covered entirely in mineralized stone. Standing there, you can practically feel the history. It's legendary as a spot where Bonnie and Clyde allegedly laid low, and it even caught the eye of Hollywood when Michael Bay directed Faith Hill's sweeping "There You'll Be" music video for the movie Pearl Harbor right on the property. But as spectacular as the local lore is, the kitchen matches it note for note. The Whistle Stop is a beloved local favorite for a reason, serving up phenomenal, honest comfort food. Brian went with a classic BLT, and it was perfect--crispy, smoky bacon, perfectly fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes on toasted bread that hit every single nostalgic note you want from a diner staple. I opted for the gorgeous grilled chicken salad, which was a knockout. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned, exceptionally juicy, and served over a bed of incredibly crisp, vibrant greens. It is rare to find a spot where legendary American history meets truly excellent, fresh, everyday cooking. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a fan of classic road trips, or just someone looking for a spectacular lunch, this place is an absolute must-visit. We were thrilled by our lucky discovery, and we will definitely be making a point to come back!

We had coffees that were typical diner coffee and pretty good. We ordered the chorizo burrito, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and the skillets. It was all hot fresh and very good. We hung out for a little bit catching up (they had slowed down and no one was waiting) and they didn't try to rush us and still gave us great service. I'll be honest, I've never even heard of tzatziki on an omelette, but I'm here to tell you... I'm here for it! You want a Gyro meat omelette, cooked to absolute perfection, a 1/2 a mile high, with Gyro meat in it... and tzatziki sauce too? If this is your flavor profile, this place is worth the drive! In the words of my wife, and to the waitress and the owner... this is the Best omelette I have ever had! DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!

My husband got the deluxe breakfast. The hashbrowns were greasy, obviously not reconstituted, and overcooked. He chose a pancake instead of the biscuit and gravy. His pancake took forever to receive. It was thin and tasteless. I've had better from a Bisquick box! My tortilla was greasy. Barely recognizable as a tortilla. Had I not been genuinely hungry, I would have sent it back. I managed to eat two triangles. I tried to cover up some of the greasiness with their salsa. I've had better salsa from Old El Paso. It was watery and flavorless. That seemed to be the overall theme for this meal. Flavorless and thin on cooking prowess. Had the waitress not been friendly, I would have given only one star. $25 for barely edible anything!?! Never never again.

I'm really surprised at how many four and five stars there are. Almost nothing we got had flavor: Queso - literally just cheese with nothing added - no salsa, no jalapeños, no onion - nothing. If you put queso on the menu, I think people expect it to have more than literally melted cheese. Chicken Fried Steak - loved that the breaded parts stuck to the meat and was excited to eat, but again, literally no flavor. We didn't finish it and we didn't take the leftovers. Mashed potatoes - No flavor AGAIN. We were so surprised and disappointed. You can see everyone there busting their tails though. Those women deserve every penny of every tip left for them.
