I discovered the Rio Mambo restaurant in Fort Worth, and now have been to three different locations. My new favorite place for Mexican food. My food recommendation is kind of limited, because I have only tried one thing. The Rio Grande Platter, a mixed appetizer plate. It is SO good it's the only thing I have tried. Glenda did try an enchilada platter, said it was very good. And since I got one free for my birthday, that made it even better! If you are a fan of Mexican food, you need to give Rio Mambo a try. read more

I met some friends here the other day. It's one of those strip center, storefront, restaurants, restaurants, with the build out is absolutely beautiful inside and very comfortable. There are amp, big screen TVs to watch sports, and the noise level is not so bad for this side of venue. The waiter, an older gentleman with a beard, could not have been nicer nor more efficient! Best of all, the food was stunning! I love Mexican food, and I went to my go to order: cheese, enchiladas, with extra onions, smothered and meat, rice and beans, corn, tortillas, and an unsweet Arnold Palmer to wash it all down! Mexican restaurant has its sack together when the chips are crispy and not a speck of grease, and the sauce is spicy but not too hot! Oh, if they could all do this! But I have to give this place five stars for doing it right. read more

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night while staying in Weatherford. There is a private parking lot so parking was easy. We entered and were seated immediately. Our server also appeared almost immediately. The menu is enormous so we had to send her away while we tried to digest the literally dozens of choices. The inside is dark and sexy. It felt like Mexico. We started with homemade salsa and chips. The salsa was good but not at all spicy. The chips were light and not greasy. Good start. We ordered Martinez martinis and they were excellent. Pretty strong but not enough so that I could not have more than one. The wife ordered the tacos de la barilla with brisket, which is a grilled taco. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The rice was good. The bean soup was outstanding. It would have been better if there was an au jus for dipping, but she did get a very spicy green sauce for dipping. The only problem was that some of the avocado pieces had rotten parts, so that was either an oversight or not caring about quality. They were not edible. I had grilled chili relleno and really liked it. I had fajita chicken inside and it was tender. The entire relleno was really good. I got a spicy sauce that was truly spicy. It was sooo good. Our server Melisa was excellent. She was helpful and friendly. Service was all-around efficient. We don't get to Weatherford very often, but I would definitely consider returning here again the next time. read more

We've eaten here a few times. Typically seated pretty quickly. Restaurant is clean and not too loud. Servers tend to be a little too friendly - forgetting why they're there. Food is not so great. This last time, I had the carne asada. The steak was about half inedible for all the fat. I substituted veggies for the rice. For a $3 up charge, I got mostly inedible onion (and I love onion, but this was no bueno), slivers of green pepper, and a mushroom. Hugely disappointing. read more

The sample appetizer is great! As for the service...I believe it lacks. And I have NEVER heard of any restaurant saying they do not make mocktails. It's busy for Friday evening but not as busy as you think. Hostess answered most of my questions seeing as my server seemed confused or lost with other customers. The atmosphere is nice and the chips were really good. The salsa is also good with a kick. That's where it ended up the food was a grease fest and lacking flavor. It was bland and just not good. It's always a nice experience ... welcoming people at the front, the always friendly, efficient, and knowledgable waitstaff, the cozy atmosphere, and of course the wonderful food. Today we got chicken fajitas and an enchilada/tamale combo, they were excellent. I highly recommend both, as well as my other favs: Grilled Relleno (vegetable) and Vegetable Enchiladas. I am what you call a regular at Rio Mambo. My boyfriend and I go there 3-4 times a month at least. I probably go more than that by myself. Eric, the bartender, has been there for many years and always gives great service. The food is consistently good, and they have a variety of dishes to choose from. Some of my favorites are the Salmon Yucatan, the fajita nachos, and the Tacos Chinos. You can never go wrong with the Ft. Worth margarita, which is their house margarita (frozen or on the rocks) with a small bottle of champagne - instead of a beer, with a half shot of Grand Marnier on top. And my favorite The Attitude Adjustment, which is their mango frozen margarita with some of their house made sangria and topped with a half shot of tequila. The atmosphere is casual and, at times, a little noisy, but it is always a good time. read more

Arrived at restaurant at 7:00pm and asked to sit on patio. Waiter took our order for drinks and food. Returned about fifteen minutes later with iced tea. We sat for 45 minutes and husband went inside to say waiter had not refilled our glasses or given us an update in our meal. He immediately ran outside with a pitcher of tea and apologized. We waited another fifteen minutes then put a five dollar bill on table for tea and left. I called and asked for manager and he said waiter had told him we left because we had an emergency. The server, Eric, was great. He was attentive without being intrusive, so this definitely isn't about him. The restaurant has taken 11 items off their menu, so there are significantly fewer options to choose from. Regardless, my husband ordered the fish tacos, and I order the burrito tortillon. It has been my go to for years. Well this time the brisket was completely bland. The meat had absolutely no seasoning. None. Not a lick of flavor anywhere to be found. Additionally, what was formally filled with a solid helping of meat, now contains meat (unflavored) and beans (also unflavored). It was also supposed to be fried and wasn't. I have a cheese allergy, and always let the server know and they make note of it with my order. Every time we go, they bring my meal to the table with cheese and I have to send it back. Every. Damn. Time. It's like the cooks never actually read the order. In the past I was willing to overlook this issue and munch on chips when I sent my food back because I know the burrito was worth it. Not any more. Definitely, not anymore. My husband's fish tacos were small, unsatisfying and the fish was bland. A frozen dinner would have been better than these meals. Do the managers even taste what is coming out of their kitchen? Apparently not. For years, Rio Mambo was great and we felt like we were getting your money's worth. Not now. We had a group of nine there day before Valentine's Day & the food was excellent. We all got different meals and everyone was happy. If you go ask for a little waitress named Matti. Great atmosphere and the food is the best Mexican we have found in Weatherford. Great fajitas.

We've been here so many times since 2018, when we moved up here. Since the first time we came, if we can't make a decision on anything else we just choose Rio Mambos!!! We've NEVER had A bad experience here not even when they were busy! The food has always passed our expectations! We always try something different. The only thing I couldn't eat was the brisket nachos, and that's ONLY because I was having tummy issues at the time and can't handle too much grease. Their queso is the best in town in my opinion! We haven't found anyone else who can match the queso here! My husband loves ALL the taco plates they have, he's tried every one of them. They have upgraded the place a bit since 2018. It's nice here, a nice atmosphere, they do have a bar & seating on the other side. It's kid friendly atmosphere and their booths are at least comfortable! We've also sat outdoors it's nice out there when it's nice outside. I do recommend the Gloria's quesadillas and the taco plates here! We also love their cheesecake chimichangas with strawberries!!!!! You talk about good!!!! The food was so good. Me and my dad had the brisket omelette with Mexican potatoes and my mom had tacos al carbon. They were not stingy on the meat. It was excellent! And the coffee was so delicious! We ordered our food and she got the chicken enchiladas and she took a bite of it and felt something hard in her enchilada. it was a Chicken bone... a full on bone about 2-3 inches in length. We immediately called the manager over and to our surprise she said it was quite normal to find a bone in the chicken enchiladas since they shred it in house . which the bone was not dull at all. she offered a new plate or a different option and never gave the option of paying for the entree. the bone wasnt dull whatsoever and couldve injured my girlfriend. not a good excuse to say its normal and could happen. read more

Our waiter was super nice and dealt with us all very patiently. The drinks and food were both delicious. This was a Sunday so I ordered brunch that came with a mimosa tasted like OJ with seltzer water if there was champagne in it I'm sorry I missed it.
