El Cerrito is a great, economical, Mexican food joint. We started with the chips and salsa. The chips were light and thin, and the salsa had a nice flavor without too much heat. The waitress was quick and attentive, and it appeared all the servers had been trained pretty well. They had spinach enchiladas and avocado enchiladas. That's always worth noting. My wife had the spinach enchiladas and was pleasantly surprised. I had the combo, which wasn't on the menu. The 3 enchilada dinner offered chicken with sour cream sauce, cheese, or beef. I wanted all 3, and they accommodated me easily. I also asked for an add-on taco, even though it wasn't on the menu, and they took care of that too! Man, you GOTTA have add-on tacos for $2! Double your profit margins! The enchiladas were filling, but I noticed they were on the small side. At a $9 plate instead of a $15 plage, I didn't have a problem... and I didn't go away hungry. Food is good. Never the same employees which could mean management issues. Younger employees seem lazy. They take your order but never refill drinks or take your plates when finished. I feel sorry for the bus boys and understand why they leave the plates behind. Let the wait staff try to carry one of the bus tubs with all those heavy plates inside. I ordered two fajita tacos to go that were $13. I asked for some me I would have to pay for salsa and chips because it was to go and that would be 3.99 , I told him no I don't want chips and salsa. I just want a little bit of salsa to go with my tacos. They give me any salsa at all unless I paid I never heard of a place that sells tacos that doesn't have complementary salsa to go with them. I went to El Cerrito for the first time. And as someone who loves Mexican food, I have a lot to compare it to. I was blown away at the taste of the salsa that came with the chips, so I knew my food was gonna be delicious. I ordered the beef Guiso *a hidden menu item* and it was delicious. When I walked in, they hosts was very pleasant, she offered me a table, but I decided to sit at the bar, which is full service. At the bar they had two TV with a sports on. The bar is separate from the rest of the restaurant incase kids don't need to see people drinking. Which I appreciated. All this to say I really enjoyed my experience at El Cerrito, the ambiance was very culturally appropriate and felt like I was in Mexico. I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant to anyone in Springtown, TX or people driving through. read more

WOW! I can understand slight issue but ordering a to go fajita's for two, getting home and - no rice, beans AND tortillas.....really? Luckily we had tortillas and started eating. THEN they call! Letting us know they forgot the beans and rice. My wife mentioned they forgot the tortillas as well. Did they offer ANYTHING other than to drive back while we're already eating with what WE had at home? Nope! Decided we would go eat here tonight; been coming for years. We had our two year old granddaughter and one year old grandson with us and we stopped at McDonald's and for them some nuggets. The hostess sat us and told us that we cannot take the McDonald's food out of the sack while we are there. WTH for real you are going to deny a 1 & 2 year old their food. Seriously that is sorry! Hubby & I drive to Springtown several times a year to make our contribution to the Garden Center. This time it was lunch time and we decided to try El Cerrito. They were busy as it was Sunday at lunch but we were seated promptly. Our waiter was very pleasant but kept forgetting to bring my husband a salsa refill. The light & tasty chips were so good the salsa didn't stay around long! Hubby ordered a Chicken Chili Relleno and I had the Spinach Enchiladas. The Relleno was stuffed with yummy shredded chicken and my enchiladas were stuffed with an awesome spinach mixture. The rice and beans and guacamole were really good and flavorful. The Queso is one of the main dishes I judge a Mexican restaurant on and there's is exactly what I look for. The chips are thin and crispy. When we were checking out she (the manager) asked how everything was, and the cockroach got brought up- she laughed- I said I was serious, and she tried to blame it on our waiter... poor kid.
