We were heading to what we thought was a New Mexican Restaurant in Newark and upon arrival learned it wasn't a restaurant but rather a liquor store. Ugggg. Not to be deterred we decided to try El Gran Torino's based off of the reviews that their Chips and Salsa were a must try. Greeted warmly. Seated quickly. Their salsa is tasty. It has a hint of onions and cilantro and possibly garlic. It's chilled and perfect for a hot Texas Sunday. It's not a spicy salsa though but nonetheless is still very good. Their chips are light and crispy. Our favorite. Their queso is a whole other story. It's absolutely delicious. Cheesy (and not that fake cheesy taste either). It's good. Has little chunks of green chilis, not spicy though but yet tasty. We absolutely loved it. My sis ordered Flour tortillas tacos with Ground beef. She added sour cream. Her's arrived hot but was missing the sour cream. We both loved the refried beans. I ordered their Fajita Grilled chicken Torito'se burrito (customized). Added sour cream and queso to go inside the burrito and asked them to go light on the beans and rice. It also has onions and green peppers. You then request the topping and I went with their Verde Sauce. Mine arrived hot! Like my sister absolutely loved the refried beans. This burrito is HUGE and was prepared exactly as requested. I couldn't eat it all and took over half home to enjoy it later. Service was good but we did run out of chips and had to wait longer than one should. (Queso got cold) I usually don't comment on my drinks but their Tea was surprisingly refreshing. I asked for a full glass of ice and a 1/4 sweet and 3/4 unsweetened. It arrived perfectly and was a major thirst quencher! Did I mentioned the chips? They have a runner bringing it out but as mentioned above they need to do better on replenishment. Cozy little place for fajitas and margaritas! They have a patio where you can sit and relax, there is a larger side room for parties and an even larger event hall attached. This is our go-to for a quick bite and a nice place to visit with friends. You can even get margaritas to go! read more

Derive is terrible. Slow, thrown to the wolves for training it seems. Can't multitask, 4 trips to get chips and drinks for two. Hostesses also waitress. This was the second time we stopped here and it was good. Not great, but very good. My wife and I split the Chili Relleno grilled poblano pepper filled with cheese covered in ranchero sauce. I have eaten here many times and it can be a hit or miss. I just left after a miss and will not be back. Azle has a real good Mexican food restaurant downtown and is my go to now. I went in by myself on a Friday night and a little busy but had quite a few waiters. I sat and sat and sat without anyone even acknowledging I was sitting there. Many waiters/waitresses kept passing me by but no one stopped. Even a lady kept walking by who looked like the owner or manager but ignored. This was all in a good amount of time I sat there and finally got up to leave. There was still no acknowledgement and when walking by the cash register I told the two hostess standing there I was never waited on and they just smiled like it happens a lot. I don't expect immediate service but eventually someone come by, acknowlege me, and maybe ask for my drink order in a reasonable time. Maybe it was because I was a solo table. read more

Food was okay, I can't say it's the best that I have had in the area but it was hot. The home made chips and tortillas were by far the best part of the meal. If your looking for a good meal, a good atmosphere, and a friendly service, give Torito's a chance. Only complaint I have is the ribs on the El Vaquero plate were lacking. They did taste like they had been sitting all day waiting for me to order them, dry and covered with sauce to try to re-moist them. read more

We were looking forward to a weekend breakfast, they do good food, and we are limiting our restaurant visits to outdoor patios. They have a very cute one with only a few tables. Forget it today. We tried this place for the first time and thought it was quite good, basic Tex Mex. My wife had fajita enchiladas, and I had the enchilada combo: one with salsa verde and two with queso. All tasty, including the chips and fresh tasting salsa. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We'll definitely be back! read more

The absolute worst experience. Waitress kept forgetting stuff we asked for. Then we ordered queso which did not arrive until the food came out so we cancelled it. They brought it out any way stating "the person who usually makes it isnt here, it's better when they are here" then proceeded to light it on fire and the waitress with the LONGEST fingernails starter spooning the tequila laced queso into tortillas. It's a great quaint lunch spot, dinner not so much my favorite, appears someone was intoxicated when they installed the bar lol you feel like you are about 4 feet tall and it's very cumbersome to try to have an appetizer much less a drink at the bar, so not a bar stop. Well the service was much better this time around. Before it was a bunch of kids playing around with each other. The food was also better and tasted fresh. The beans were a bit mushy but had a good flavor to them. The rice wasn't overly spicy with just a touch of seasoning. The ground beef could have used a bit more seasoning but overall it filled the enchiladas nicely. The corn tortillas did not seem to hold their texture as they should have. The verde (green) sauce had just enough oomph to give it that special kick. The queso appetizer had just enough spices to give it a mild zing. Even better was the 20% off coupon for checking in on the Yelp app on the appetizer. For Tex-Mex when you're just north of Azle, stop in and give it a try. read more

This place overall is good, but lately it has been hit or miss. I ordered to go. I am not sure if there is a new cook but my rice and beans both have been extremely salty. The charro beans are so salty I can't even eat it. I ordered the fajitas for 2 which were good. The steak quesadillas were also yum, but the sides way too salty. Waited 45 min to eat. Took 15 minutes just to get something to drink. And we went on an off time when it wasn't busy.
