Usually I order my weekly pizza from Mr. Jim's. I decided to give Palio's a try... but a $10 delivery fee is wild for an additional .2 miles (5 miles delivery radius). Not servicing one of largest and fastest growing communities (Vintage Oaks), in your immediate area, may need some reconsideration. Looks like Mr. Jim's will continue to receive not only my pizza orders, but most of the communities. I'm not going to give 1 star because I feel that isn't fair, seeing as how I didn't try the pizza. After DoorDash failed to deliver our order, Palio's went above and beyond to make it right. They didn't hesitate to remake the pizzas and deliver them to us themselves (out of their normal delivery area) to ensure we got our food hot and fresh. I've only been to Palio's twice in Azle. The ordering process is a little awkward. You order at the counter, then are seated and served. They have menus so I'm not sure why they don't just take your order at the table. Either way it's fine, but it would be a little nicer experience for them to come to the table and take your order. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday in the little shopping center where Palio's is located. The girl at the counter was really nice and explained how things work and told us to just take our time and let her know when we were ready to order. We order our food and paid and then sat down. It wasn't very long until we got our drinks. Shortly after that our food was ready. My meal came with a small Greek salad complete with sun-dried tomatoes! Very tasty! I ordered a Gyro with chips and I really enjoyed it. We ordered a meatball sub to go later when we ate it we were surprised how good it was. read more

The pizza at Palio's is just like I like it. Thin crust, slightly burnt edges. Full selection of toppings. We will have to make a point of eating there once a week since they just didn't seem busy enough around 5 on a Saturday and we want them to stay in business. We have had pizza, salads (very good) cheesy garlic bread, lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. It was all good portions and very tasty. It is true it is not decorated much, but our favorite pizza forty years ago was Big Eds in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and decorations don't make the pizza better! Check that place out if you're ever there. The folks serving us at Palio's were all real nice on both our visits. It is so convenient to us. Just hop on the 199 and get off in Azle at the Stuart exit. The restaurant is on the right corner at the first light on Main, along with a fitness center and yogurt place. Palio's is called a pizza cafe but it has a lot of Italian dishes too if you want more than pizza. The prices were good, and we know prices. We eat at Cracker Barrel, Cheddars, Outback, Spring Creek, In N Out Burger, Westside Cafe, BJ's (gotten pricey!), Taste of Asia at Bryant Irvin, and on Clifford Street, the new breakfast/lunch place, Eggsquisite Cafe. Neighborhood pizza spot that offers a massive amount of options, any kind of sauce you want, gluten free offerings, and the restaurant is BYOB. Now onto the bad... It ran us just shy of $60 for 2 pies, one of them had to be gluten free so I understand that naturally it's going to be more expensive. The price is just not justifiable at all for conveyor belt pizza. The gluten free pizza was just sad really. It was pizza mush and was completely soggy. We took it to go 8 minutes down the road back to the house and even put it in the oven for a little bit when we got back, so the drive home was not the culprit. We decided to visit Palio's Pizza Cafe again because their food was very delicious the last two times we've had it -- well, things have changed. We ordered two pizzas, each with different toppings. It's not the toppings that were bad -- it was the pizza crust that wasn't great. Everything was fresh, which is something Palio's Pizza Cafe is known for; however, their crust wasn't the best. The crust was difficult to bite down on, making the experience a bad one. We had to cut off most or all of the surrounding crust to make it bearable. Aside from this, the pizza was good albeit we weren't able to eat a good portion of the pizza. read more

Ordered dinner from Palio's because I wanted to get away from the standard chains like Pizza Hut and Dominos. I have been to a Palio's before (Frisco, TX), but it had been several years. We ordered the classic pizza and Greek bread via Door Dash. It was delivered in about 30 mins and our order arrived on time and we got exactly what was ordered. The pizza was pretty good, but the Greek bread is really what caught my attention. It was delicious. One thing I did notice is that they don't have a very good Health / Safety score listed on Yelp, which is a little concerning. It states things like food being left out, office supplies above the food prep line, manager needing safety training, etc.. I'd like to continue ordering from here in the future as I enjoyed the food, but they need to fix their health / safety rating. read more

I have to say we were there 10 minutes before they opened and the door was open but they wouldn't serve us. We waited until open time after several people went in and were served before the actual open time. I was excited to try the salad. What a disappointment. It was more like soup and totally inedible. The pizza was ok. It was not clean inside. The napkin holder my husband had to fix to even be able to get napkins as nothing was brought to our table. It wasn't bad per say, it just wasn't that good and it didn't hit the way you want a pizza to hit- ya know? A large and a small for $28... and they seemed to be the smallest smalls and larges around? I ordered a Greek pizza and two tiramisus last night at around 630pm and one tiramisu was covered in mold. Had to throw away everything because I was too grossed out to eat anything. This was only the second coming here. All the employees in the store were not properly wearing masks according to the CDC Guidelines. Literally only one out of at least 8 employees that I saw was wearing her mask properly. One of the cashiers didn't even have a mask on AT ALL. Update: I gave them a second chance on my birthday, ordered a King pizza, 2 salads and Tiramisu as my birthday cake. Driver got lost, then gave me the wrong order- luckily she had my order in her back seat but it was missing the Tiramisu. She didn't know what to do, I told her to come back with it but she never did, now we're out $14 + tax on wings we couldn't eat and cake we never got! It's really too bad because the food we did get was really good, just wish we didn't get ripped off. We are new in town and wanted pizza so we gave them a try. Food was delivered at the time promised and was piping hot! We ordered a King pizza pie, garlic wings, spaghetti with meatballs, and a Greek salad. The pie was fabulous as was the salad and spaghetti, however, we got hot buffalo wings instead of the garlic. I love Palio's. The one at Hulen on Bryant Irvin! I tried this one and was sorely disappointed. The salad was incredibly small and the pizzas were not good.
