I have bought three computers from Yes and never blinked at paying a slightly higher price... than say buying it online or some big box store. I think it so important to support small local business. I find the staff very generous and knowledgeable. I certainly feel I get more than my money's worth, with all the free excellent advice I am given whenever I call for help. There is always a friendly supportive voice answering and the service department staff could not be more accommodating. Their knowledge too is impressive and they have helped me out of kinks and saved my important material when my hard drive crashed... due to my own carelessness. I completely understand their rates and feel they are very fair. I consider myself very lucky to have Yes in our community and hope the business prospers and remains open in downtown Northampton for many many years to come. read more

I am truly baffled by some of the negative reviews about Yes Computer. I have found them to be top-notch, especially since they moved to their new location at 196 Pleasant St. about two years ago. (Note: the picture you are using is out of date as it shows the interior of their old store.) I am especially pleased with the people in the service department--Natalia and Tony--as they have always gone far out of their way to solve problems or needs on three different MACs that I use. They have never failed to do a first-class repair or update job--often while I wait or come back for in an hour or so--thus saving me a longer return trip. The bright and cheery new story is a vast improvement over the older place, and everything about the new store is a step up--and far more satisfying than the mall MAC stores in the area. I have been working with Yes Computers for a few years. Their service department has set up backup systems at my office with multiple redundancy. The systems have never failed, and the cost was competitive, and relatively inexpensive. As far as equipment goes, I purchase equipment at Yes on a somewhat regular basis, and the quality is excellent. Most important, when I work with any of the sales or service personnel, I receive the focus and attention that I deserve as a retail customer. Further, they almost always throw in some extras that the Apple stores will charge me for. If the sales people don't know the answer, they will search and give you plenty of great choices, then quickly order what is not in stock. The owner is often out front talking to customers without identifying himself as such. I highly recommend Yes Computers for sales and service. read more

I contacted YES to upgrade my Macbook. My interaction with the company started on the phone where i received straight-forward information and pricing. The computer was upgraded in exactly the time frame specified. The system works great and is absolutely smoking fast compared to before the upgrade. I don't know how expensive they are relative to their competition, but I do know that they have maintained a business since the 80's (I had a Macintosh 512k), and it's difficult to do that without an idea of customer service and competitive pricing. I agree with some reviewers that the personnel you meet may affect your satisfaction level, but Ramsey was great to work with. As a local business owner, it's nice to have other local business' to patronize. It's important to keep the money local. JN read more

I wrote a harsh review of Yes Computers a week or so ago, but I would like to revise what I wrote. While Yes didn't do such a great job the first time I left my computer with them, when I returned for a face-to-face with one of their employees "J" or "Jay" [I'm not sure which] the second time, I got superb service and assistance. "Jay" wasn't able to fix the problem completely, but he got me very close. I used Apple Care to finish solving the problem (typing in Japanese--admittedly something that not every service employee knows about). So I would go back, BUT I wouldn't leave the store until you've checked whether the problem you took it in for has been solved. Thanks, Yes and thanks "Jay." I have had my laptop serviced (virus removal/software upgrade) at Yes several times. I have always found them pleasant, responsive, and fairly priced. Yesterday I walked in and explained that I had an annoying pop-up, and that it appeared to have begun just after the upgrade several months ago. Without hesitation they looked at the problem and resolved it within 10 minutes (based on what they found it was not their fault). I offered to pay and was refused. I couldn't be happier with their service - immediate and free! I am a former senior manager of technical support at several companies and would have been proud of having my staff deliver such customer satisfaction. I fully recommend them to others. read more

I made my 7th large purchase at Yes Computers this week and am even more impressed after this recent experience. Matthew provided me with expert support as I selected and purchased my new MacBook Pro and accessories. Mom & I stopped here a few weeks ago with computers bought elsewhere and experienced the best service we could have hoped for. My problem was explained to me as a glitch which Zach was able to tend to in 10 Min - I had bought this computer in Australia and while they were very capable they weren't able to explain this simple fact, but hid it as though a glitch is shameful, leaving me insecure about this computer. While my mother's issues's had more to do with understanding how the computer operates Zach, again, was patient & kind towards her. Granted we had come early on SAT while the store was quiet. My mom, after years of begging, caved in and bought me a MacBook Air! After two days of having it.... my dog stepped on it and shut the power off WHILE I WAS UPDATING THE SOFTWARE. I contacted Apple and they couldn't schedule an appointment with me for at least a week and a half. I went to Yes Computers, not expecting to have my computer fixed, and they actually FIXED IT within two hours! They were very nice, fast, and my macbook is good as new again! I have been shopping at YES for a number of years. They are one of the few independent Apple stores in the country, and I always try and support our local businesses. I, and occasionally have the opportunity to speak with the owner. If I need something they don't normally carry, they order it for me, and sometimes even deliver it (I live and work locally)! I think YES Computers tries very hard to keep its customers happy. There store layout is great, and I have periodically taken advantage of their sales. read more

I had a great experience at YES. I was in the process of switching from PC to Mac and the young salesperson spent a long time discussing various issues to consider. I ended up purchasing a computer and accessories from them and have been back a few times with questions and once to speak with their repair person. My experience could not have been better. I would choose YES over a big box Apple Store any day, even if they charge a restocking fee for certain returns (which I completely understand). read more

I've bought three computers, three iPads and numerous peripherals from Yes Computers. Service has always been great and very accommodating. When I bought an iPad Air without a CD drive, they offered to install Microsoft Office while I waited. I've read some of the less-than-satisfied reviews regarding repairs, but I've never had to bring any of my machines so I can't speak to whether that. The cable I bought did not have the adapter from the old computer to the new, due to my faulty explanation.
