Don't come here. I brought in my Macbook Pro for a repair and they did literally nothing to fix it. Apparently they couldn't find the problem but the minute I got it back it stopped working. I'm a college student going into finals with a malfunctioning laptop and I want to scream and cry out of frustration after my experience here. I talked to them multiple times on the phone and they kept claiming that I never returned their calls. I called them and had to explain my problem multiple times to the same person and every time it sounded like he had never heard of what I was telling him before. If you actually want your computer to get fixed, don't do business with them. Go somewhere else. You'll be better off with that. read more

I have a powerbook from Apple which I bought at yes computers. The power cable to charge the computer was not charging the computer so I brought it to yes to assess situation. After a week they called me to tell me I needed a new logic board, a 700 fix, I did not want to put that money into a 3 yr old computer so I looked around for another opinion. A man on craigslist told me that I did not need a logic board and told me to clean the contacts using alcohol, I did this and the computer worked. So I called yes to tell them the computer was just cleaned and works fine, I asked for my 80 dollar diagnosis fee back. With some hesitation and a snarky tone I was refunded and told that they dont want my business anymore! Careful with yes. Its all about the money...... read more

Wow, I just feel a bit skeptical of the very first negative review here. I have to wonder if Yelp does not plant snark reviews so that people will log on and argue, generating more eyeballs so that we now have sensational flame-warfare. I am seeing this on other commercial websites, too. Not to absolve the real-live flamers. That said, I go into Yes Computers a lot. Otherwise it's about 20-30 minutes to the crowded Apple Store at the mall, not that that isn't be really fun, too, once in a while. I have huge respect for Natalya behind the service desk. I have to admit sometimes I just need to be reminded to plug something in(I thought my iPhone was completely dead yesterday when the red emergency-call option did not show on its screen) and she is quite cheerful about all of it. Very often simple fixes like that are free. FREE! Mainly Natalya has performed heavy-duty diagnostics on my lap-top. She and all the others there do things like that in an extremely deft and professional manner. Compared to me, YES seems to know everything- but they also respect my own level of knowledge. For instance, Natalya let me me how much I could learn on my own just through exploring my own laptop, since I'd chosen not to go to weekly Apple class- although that is an amazing deal, $99 for a year of weekly lessons. I know someone who learned a lot on managing multimedia there. I do have one caveat(And that was 4-5 years ago). In YES's old location they once tried to save us money by replacing a laptop/desktop battery with a non-Apple product. Monopoly or no, I would no longer accept anything less than Apple- even for a power cord. It's just not worth the upfront cash. It guess it was worth a try. Anyway, I just love having them in our town. I find everyone there quite friendly. If you have a bizarre idea like, "I think I need TWO back-up drives!" they are very supportive. "Great idea! That makes a lot of sense:" I know it's business- but still I like the way YES honors a customer's creative ideas : I see empowerment and education rather than the old model of paternalism. Letting the customer learn to fix his/her own problems is a wonderful more long-term strategy, right? read more

For all of the negative comments, I've got only positive things to say about Yes. I remember when they first opened up the street and were really the only show in town when it comes to Apple related products and service. Yes, you can drive to Holyoke or Farmington to go to an Apple store but you'll always get the company line on products and issues; never get truly objective advice and insight. Apple maintains strict policies on what staff can say and recommend. Yes is different. if they think something is a rip off, they'll tell you. Also, you can trade in older Macs for newer ones. I just traded in an older iPad for the new one and got a very good deal. I think these folks are committed to the community here and work hard to give folks the right advice and best service. If something goes wrong - or you're unhappy about something - let them know and give them the opportunity to make it right. I don't think they have stayed in business for ten years and expanded because they've done a terrible job of serving the community. Just a thought or two from a happy and pleased customer. read more

I love Yes Computer After playing the game with the Apple Store of making an appointment with a 30 minute window, then being late, waiting with the mob of people to be recognized by anyone...I decided to drive an hour to Northampton, MA to little Yes Computer. What a difference for this elderly cyber novice! People ask to help the second you walk through the door. No mobs to force your way through, but a steady flow of customers being quickly assisted. I got directly to the service department, discussed the problem, and drove back a couple days later to pick up my computer. So worth the drive to avoid the Genius hassle and headache. Sometimes these wonderful people take a quick look and fix the glitch on the spot. If you call with a question, a live human answers, no voice robots. They are sympathetically kind to old ladies like me, and do their best to reassure me I'm not dumb. I cannot recommend Yes Computer strongly enough. read more

I recommend saying NO to YES Computers. Although I like to support local businesses, I don't like supporting jerks. With the way this place does business I'm amazed they can afford the operating costs of a large, impressive looking store. I was visiting family for Christmas and the trackpad on my macbook pro broke. I called YES and made an appointment to come in and have it fixed. The staff took my MacBook Pro in and called me the next day saying it needed $1000 worth of repairs including a brand new track pad (wouldn't it make more sense to buy a new computer if that were the case?). I found this very hard to believe considering my computer was working fine otherwise. When I told them I wasn't interested in going forward with the repairs the employee I was speaking with YELLED at me in the middle of the store and in front of customers. It was embarrassing. I thanked them, grabbed my computer and left. When i took it to another Apple certified repair center, LEFT-CLICK IN THORNES MARKET, their diagnosis was totally different. Left-click told me my trackpad just needed a missing screw and my computer was in perfect, working order otherwise. They didn't attempt to overcharge me for repairs I didn't need either. If only I went to them and avoided YES in the first place. UPDATE: Glad to see my review has made an impact. I am all for supporting local business, as long as they RESPECT their patrons. The owner, who was present and witnessed my interactions with the rude staff YES sent me this note. I am sure he delivers the same lip service to every customer who calls him out. I'm a believer in buy local but I have to say in this case, do not buy at Yes computers. Take the drive to Holyoke and go to the real Apple store where everyone is great. I have had three bad experiences with yes computers. 1. Awhile back Bought a laptop and had out of box problem with screen. Took it back and they fixed it. But really didn't. Brought it again and had an argument with owner to get a new one. 2. My husband forget I guess and bought me an iPad from Yes. I wasn't going to keep it, brought it right back in the unopened box with receipt. They told me they would have to charge a "restocking" fee of 5 or 10%. Can't remember which. I questioned Restocking Fee? Then the story changed again to say because we used a credit card they would be charged to cancel it out. I kept the iPad but won't buy from them again - and we are a totally Apple family 3. Repair. via a work situation, a tech from Yes was sent to deal with the fact that our wireless computers and sound system was cutting out a lot. Tech was nice but sold us a router. Problem was exactly the same later that night. Called at night asking someone to call. By 4:45 next day, no none had called back so I went to store. We are dealing with it now. read more

Okay, seriously guys...if you have the stress of a malfunctioning computer then Yes Computers is absolutely without doubt NOT the place to take it. I had an unbelievably poor experience. I should have gone to Apple directly. What a fool I was. The diagnostic here took way longer than estimated. And the diagnosis was lazy and inaccurate and clearly not put through its due diligence. My computer had been malfunctioning every second to the point that it was in a state of freezing. Yes Computers apparently looked at it and saw nothing. I picked it up, walked home, opened my computer and it was so obviously and visibly malfunctioning. The amateurism I encountered was spellbinding. When I challenged them on their due diligence with their diagnostic, they went into defensive mode a bit too easily (it was then I realized "crap, I never looked these guys up on Yelp!") I'm not sure is it laziness, poor work ethic, stupidity or whatever but these guys were the pits. I phoned Apple and they sorted me in no time. They told me that once the computer had started to malfunction, it would have visibly maintained that state because it was broken. In no way would it have not shown any other state. How Yes Computers experienced my machine doing anything else and exhibiting normal function was impossible. The computer was broken and could not self-sooth itself into a state of being unbroken. My computer is not Lazarus. The problem was nothing like what the Yes guys obviously guessed. They should be ashamed. It's a horrible way to do business. I bought my 'Pro there a couple years ago and thus have tried to give them the opportunity to work on it when it has problems. Given the context of their trade, I was initially reassured that many of the personnel are the socially awkward, poindexter types that appear to eat drink and sleep one's and zero's. But after the several bristling interactions I've endured there, it just seems like the majority of the staff may have gotten one too many wedgies in their day to be bothered with good customer service. More than once I've been sneered at with smarmy, snide condescension, like I was an idiot for asking my question. I swear, every time I go there, I'm treated like I just showed up at the hippest club in town wearing a burlap sack! Anyways, I would tolerate the abrasiveness if the results were good, but after going in there recently and having them deny that my claimed computer problem even existed, I will (and have) taken my computer elsewhere. Try Left Click(@Thornes Marketplace) or the Holyoke Mall Apple store. Both those places made me fell like a VIP, which is what you'd expect when you dish out $350 for the AppleCare plan. read more

I brought my laptop in when I thought it had crashed. The woman at the desk turned my computer on and took a couple minutes to inspect and listen to some clicking noises it produced. From this short review, she told me my hard drive had crashed and it would be unlikely that they would recover any files. She then charged me about $200 for a new hard drive. Luckily, I decided to visit the Apple store where someone walked me through diagnostic tests that fixed my computer and recovered all my files. It only took about 15 minutes and the help was free! The service staff seemed perturbed by my questions, dishonest, and eager to make a quick buck. When I contacted a manager to report my negative experience (I would rather support a local business than the apple store) I received no word back. I brought my malfunctioning charger for my laptop in today , and was told it was not the charger that was sold with the computer, so even though I paid for the service plan, the charger was not covered. Thank you Yes Computers. Apple made some of their white MacBooks with little tabs on the display end of the plastic that cut into the bottom part. I brought my laptop in pretty beat up: 4 different holes in it, serious compromises in the chassis, I felt. Yes Computers replaced the whole casing in about twenty minutes, and gave me a new keyboard and mouse! All of this was warranty repair, even though it was years old, and well beyond Apple Care. During this pandemic, i one day got out of the shower and found my phone to have green lines and a twitching screen. Suddenly my phone shut off and never turned back on but I could still connect my phone to a Bluetooth speaker and I could still feel the vibrations from notifications. My sister could still track my location on the phone , so I thought it was just the screen. After my Apple store was closed down I was told by an Apple employee to take my phone here to get it looked at. They held my phone overnight and told me they'd contact me within 2 days to see what was wrong with my phone. They told me it was a software issue and it would be Over $650 to fix it... not including the "service fee" of $30 for them to even look at it. So almost $700... I immediately obviously didn't go with that option and took it to a friend who had worked for Apple previously to get my phone looked at by his shop to get a second opinion. He immediately fixed my phone and said it was the screen... he also told me no one even looked inside my phone because he was able to tell that my phone was never hooked up to any computer in the past, and could tell no one even opened my phone up.. SO they almost scammed me of $700 when it was really only the screen.. but not only that they didn't even LOOK AT MY PHONE and try to charge me that much. I will NEVER take any device I own here EVER AGAIN. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Yes was my primary source for all my Mac needs since I moved to the Valley in '04, but what was once a quality operation had slid downhill to the point where it's dangerous to bring your Mac there for repair. My 2014 MacBook Air stopped working at the end of January while I was on vacation. When I returned in early February I spoke to my computer-savy son who said it sounded like the operating system needed to be re-installed, which the Apple Store would do for me for free. However, when I checked, I could not get an appointment @ the closest (Holyoke) Apple Store till Friday, and I decided to bring it to Yes computers, thinking that I had heard good things about it in the past. When I brought it in I was told I needed to pay $50 up front for diagnosis. I thought this was worth it, as I naively expected this to be completed in a few days (they estimated 3-4 days). It was not done until 5 days (they blamed a snow storm) and when they called they said that the hard drive needed to be replaced and recommended they mail it to Apple for over $500. I opted to bring it to the Apple store instead. Again it took about 4 days to get an appointment, but when I did the man who helped me said that it only needed to have the operating system re-installed, which he did while I waited (this took about 2 hours since he needed to back up everything on the computer first) It has been working fine since. I called Yes when I returned home, and after playing phone tag for several days, finally got to talk to the technician who had done the diagnostic work, who defended his diagnosis and said that (although he hoped not) he expected my computer to stop working within about 1 1/2 months. I've waited a few weeks to write this review, and if he turns out to be correct, I will write an addendum, but so far I remain skeptical. The store manager did credit my $50 diagnostic fee. In the future I will check Yelp for reviews, and not rely on vague word of mouth recommendations. I would definitely not recommended going to Yes for service based on this experience. read more

My macbook pro was not starting up properly and kept restarting. So I took my macbook pro to the services department after the apple store told me to go here because I have the 2010 model and they might not have the parts needed for my laptop. So I did. Yes told me that they need to do a diagnostic. It was going to be $50 and I agreed. It took them a week to finally call me back. They said they could back up my computer for another $80, which I agreed to because they warned me that my laptop will probably need to be replaced soon. Brought my laptop back home and not only was the condition not resolved there were dents in the back of it. I understand that my model of laptop was old but I can't help but I feel I got swindled. Very disappointing. Will not use them again. Recently I needed to upgrade my OS and Safari. Not confident enough to do this myself I took it to Yes and they said it would be $50 which I agreed to. I had also asked them to uninstall another browser I had installed but the tech said "Oh just grab it into the trash" but that doesn't uninstall it. I would have appreciated being told that I would need to make other changes, printer driver etc. They did not tell me this - okay they were not giving a tutorial but it would have been good customer service. So I called Apple help and someone talked me through what I had to do. In future I will certainly drive the extra few miles or get Apple phone help. read more

I brought my iPhone 6 in on a Sunday for a cracked screen and was cautioned that these types of repairs are sent out, not done in house, but that I would get my phone back by the end of the week. I had a crazy busy week ahead and no time to go to the Apple Store, plus I wanted to support a local business, so I agreed. I heard nothing by the following Friday so I called and was told that my phone had never actually been sent out....what?! I was offered a lame explanation that there had been an attempt to reach me by phone, but that they had the wrong number on file. I pointed out that my invoice had my correct contact information, including an email address. I was eager to get the phone repaired and I definitely was never contacted, my suspicion is that someone dropped the ball and this was the only excuse they could come up with. I had to scramble to get an appointment at the Apple Store as I needed the phone the next day. But the worst part was when I went to pick up my (still broken) phone. I spoke with two people to question how it was that nobody sent my phone out nor ever contacted me. The service person said only, "Well, I don't see what I can do about it now." Complete apathy. Customer service 101 would dictate that a minimum of an apology might be in order. I will never, ever visit Yes again and will advise my friends to stay away as well. read more

I don't get where all these negative reviews are coming from? This place is solid. I brought my 3 year old Macbook Pro in because half my keys weren't working and I did a little homework myself and figured the keyboard needed to be replaced. At almost the exact same time this happened my boyfriend's computer just died, it was just completely unable to boot up and he was worried about hard drive damage. I was warned over the phone that it might take a while for them to fix our computers, which I very much appreciated. Even still, my computer was ready to go home earlier than I expected. Everyone was friendly, informative, and honestly the price was not bad considering what it was. Let's be real people: it is not cheap to fix Apple products. Apple parts are expensive and Apple computers are tough to take apart and put back together. Even so my boyfriend ended up not having to pay a dime because his computer needed a part replaced that was part of a recall. They didn't even charge him for the data recovery. Both our laptops work great. My laptop is my baby and I would not accept it being mistreated but we were both treated very well. If I have any more problems I will be coming back here. read more

They completely took advantage of the fact that I was a college student and needed my laptop as soon as possible. I went in because my computer would not turn on. They told me they would have a diagnoses by the end of the week. I called at the end of the week and they hadn't looked at my laptop yet. After the 2nd week of having my computer they told me I needed a new screen. If I wanted it done in 4 days it would have been $800 and if I waited 2 weeks it would have been $400 (being a college student I could not wait that long) . I decided to pick my computer up and take it to an actual Apple store. The man that helped me at Apple took my computer in the back and came back 5 minutes later with my computer completely fixed. He told me my battery was just loose. So instead of paying hundreds of dollars to get my computer fixed I got it for free. The people at Yes Computers are thieves. Either that or they have not a clue what they are doing. I do not know how they have stayed open. read more

Terrible, disgraceful customer service. I called in advance in order to have my iMac desktop fixed and explained the year and model number and specifically asked whether they worked on late 2010 models. The man who picked up the phone said yes and adviced me to bring it in. I made the long drive to this place and a very dismissive lady with a foreign accent who works there flatly refused to take in my computer for repair because she deemed it too old. No sorry, no offering to save my harddrive data, nothing; just a cold, careless no we cant do anything for you attitude. After an awkward pause where I thought she was still tending to me but wasnt, I had to ask if they could save my data. She only said yes. After another awkward pause, I had to ask how much was that service. I quickly thought better of continuing the one-sided effort of making them a sale and just decided to take my business elsewhere. I took my 11 month old mac in for repair. The screen went black, the sound was static, the whirligig stayed on forever and the computer crashed my external hard drive and cannot be repaired. The man in service told me I did not eject the external hard drive properly. He showed me how to eject it, which I could only do when the "eject" button lit up. Most of the time the button was gray. The people who provide service are condescending and had an attitude. They said there was no problem with the computer!!! I am going to take it to the Apple store in the Holyoke mall and do not plan to buy anything at YES again. read more

Looking at the other reviews confirms that I'm not alone in having an awful experience with Yes Computers! I brought my macbook air in for a spill cleaning. When I dropped the computer off the only issue was that some of the keys were sticky. The person at the register told me that I would get my computer back in 4 days. Two weeks later, I picked my computer up from the service department and was told that the battery could either be fine or have reduced capacity because it failed one of their tests. My previously fully functioning computer now has to be plugged in for the entire time that I use it and it immediately turns off when the charger disconnects (which happens frequently since it is a magnet). Perhaps this damage is from sitting and waiting for a week before being repaired? How could this service technician not realize this problem? Did they not even check their work? Apparently not. The keys are damaged (the plastic is peeling off many of them, the space bar barely works, and another key has fallen off entirely). A computer should never be returned in worse condition then when you brought it in to be repaired. Working on the computer is infuriating not only because it barely functions but because it's a reminder that this awful business is still making a ton of money off of people. I spoke with the manager and was given a 99 dollar (partial) refund for their awful work. She was incredibly disrespectful to me while I spoke with her. Regardless of whether she believes that any of this damage to my computer is her fault, she should not have spoken to me the way she did. I was called irrational and also told to "stop talking and listen" to her. She estimated that it would cost $400 to repair the damage done. On top of the $180 I already paid, that's half as much as I spent on the computer! In another review the owner or perhaps a manager commented on a post and told the reviewer that they attempt to cultivate a culture of respect in their business. How about you respect your customers enough to hire decent people to manage your service department and maybe even do a good job at taking care of people's computers? read more

Had such a wonderful experience here! Had been putting off a repair to my 2011 MacBook Pro for about 8 months as its functionality steadily decreased. Was recommend Yes Computers & that is the only place I'll go now for any future tech needs. Despite being out of warrantee, the invoice to rectify a known issue with older model logic boards via replacement was $6.25--was also ready the next day--incredible! They also kindly replaced a worn-out foot. Was surprised there was Zero fuss about having to "prove" the particular issue the Apple recall covered--a simple diagnostic test took around 90 seconds. Wonderful service & wonderful work--beyond comprehension, really. Was pleasantly blown away by the whole thing! read more

I walked into Yes computers on "no sales tax weekend" to see if they had an external DVD drive that I could purchase to install an upgrade in my OS operating system. They sold me one for $65. I took it home and it didn't work. I took it back and they sold me a special cable and charged me another $10 bucks for that. I took it home and it didn't work either. I took my computer back to their store again. After an hour of fusing over my computer, their sales and service team concluded that the DVD player they sold me was defective. I asked for a replacement DVD player and they said they had just sold out their last one. At that point, they told me they would install my software for me "at no charge" while they proceeded to back order the DVD player. Two days later (it took that long to install two operating systems) they called me to come and pick up my computer and I went back to the store. By now I have made four separate trips to their store. I wait for a week and a half to get a call from them telling me my DVD player has arrived before I decide to call them myself. They look up my history in their files and inform me they have no record of the sale. They have an invoice of my purchase but my name does not appear anywhere on it. When I asked them why they didn't place my name on the invoice they respond by saying, "We often don't bother to do that, especially when we are busy like we were on the day you came in ... tax free Sunday" They then proceed to tell me that if I don't have a copy of the invoice they gave me (without my name on it) they can't give me a DVD player. When I suggest that this makes no sense, the salesperson keeps parroting the store refund policy with the precision of an automoton. Finally, I ask to speak with the sales manager. After some discussion, he relents and agrees to "allow me" to come to the store to pick up my DVD player, "even though we really don't have to because we didn't write your name on the invoice so you can't prove we sold you the item unless you have a copy of the invoice we gave you at the point of sale that also doesn't have your name on it." He presents his decision as if he is doing me a huge favor by cutting me this break. I drive down to the store for the now fifth time, politely accept my DVD player, ask if the new invoice the sale manager hands me has my name on it (it does), leave the store and vow to never return. What an amazing example of poor service and unbelievable arrogance. Come on folks, your just selling computers. Stop trying to outwit everyone with your smug, self-satisfying, pseudo-intellectual gamesmanship and ridiculously arcane return policy. read more

Will never go back. I too try to support local but never again with them. Misled me about what help is available and even told me that the Apple store had very limited teaching and classes and that I should pay 40/hr for their "more personalized" help. There was one nice employee, Ben, now away at college but the rest of them couldn't have cared less about trying to figure anything out. And very limited times when you can go for help. I begged and the Apple store in Holyoke let me pay 99 for unlimited classes and instruction for one year- and you can get one to one as well as classes. read more
