They use a touch pad device to place your order and basically little service from the people who work there. Difficult to know what amount of tip since it seems so self service. Nice alternative to a more formal sit down restaurant since it takes too long to get served in those other restaurants. I lived in Hong Kong for a brief period when I was young and I'm always looking for those nostalgic flavors. Yep definitely hit home for me. I got one of their signature rice rolls and their salty fish and chicken fried rice. Both were absolutely amazing. Chili oil is always a hit or miss with me but I really liked theirs. Also to note, service in Chinatown is also a hit or miss especially that I'm an ABC (American born Chinese). For some reason I sometimes get the side eye from Chinese servers. Here I felt none of that. They helped me quickly and without judgement even with my broken Chinese. In fact one of the servers helped me save money by taking on my boba drink to the rice roll that comes with a free drink (pretty sure boba isn't included in that deal but he helped me out anyways! Order the pork crepe and it took more than 25 minutes to arrive. Once arrive, it was the wrong order too. Our final order took about 27 minutes arrived. How does the food taste? Not good. The crepe was very oily and the sauce has no flavor. Our soy sauce noodle wasn't stir-fried properly. That's soy sauce was lacking in flavor. It was also too oily. Always good to try out new restaurants in the Chinatown area, Yep Kitchen is suppose to have dishes prepared like you are eating in Hong Kong. We ordered dishes such as walnut shrimp, pork and string beans and sweet and sour pork chops. Some of the dishes were saltier then some but overall the food was good. The ordering process was simply as you can scan the QR code posted outside and inside the restaurant. I was glad they had a tablet that you can order the dishes from it. This newish casual restaurant has been open for a year and it's just great, like 5 stars great! They have a huge menu, very reasonable prices, big and delicious serving sizes, and a clean, airy, modern, and spacious dining room. They also have an easy to use e-pad for ordering a wide variety of dishes and with helpful and enticing photos of all of these dishes. The e-pad ordering is also handy for being able to specify no or less salt, no MSG, less sugar, less oil, etc, which is really a nice touch. Flagging down one of the rotating servers was easy and after ordering, the piping hot food came out without much of a wait. For this lunch outing, our party of 4 ordered 3 different bowls of congee (each $7.49), a Mongolian beef which was mine and $8.49, and an order of pork liver rice noodles ($5.49). All of the servings were very generous and great values. The congee is a simple dish, but when it's done right as it is here, the flavor is deep and rich and it's a very homey comfort food, and that's what they have here. This was not the first time I have dined at this restaurant. The first time I dined here, I had a regular experience, however, this dine in service was absolutely atrocious & unprofessional. We were ordering ayce sushi, with three orders of food put in through their ipad, only our first order came out. One roll was not served from our first order, so when asked about it they said it's coming out a bit slower due to the place being busy, sure I'll give you that, it happens (but actually there were about 7 or so parties with 2-3 people each). Not thinking much of it, we sat & waited for our next two orders + the missing roll for more than 40 mins. Upon looking around the restaurant, we realized it was not as busy as it seems compared to how slow our service was going (it would seem like the restaurant was packed with how long we had to wait for our food). Not once were we checked on, to see how we were doing. There was a whole table of staff in the other room just sitting & eating/talking. We saw a table get seated & had their sushi dishes come out before ours & we ordered quite a bit those two times. They only brought our food once we started asking for it. Did you not think anything was wrong when we were just sitting there & not eating anything? It was painfully obvious we were waiting for our food, yet nothing was done. There was a time limit to ayce sushi, yet we spent majority of that time waiting for our food to come out, & at that point, had they stuck with the time limit, we wouldn't have been able to order more. Why were they so fast to bring our orders out when we finally decided to ask them? Yet they couldn't bother to bring it out when we looked bored out of our minds? Keep in mind, the rolls came out bit by bit, not even all at once, which makes me believe they never made those rolls in the first place (because we ordered deep fried rolls, when they came to the table, it was burning hot as if they just made it). Not only did our rolls took a very very long time to come out, they didn't have the roll that was missing in the first order nor could I be bothered to ask for it because at that point I didn't care for eating there anymore (which also makes me believe our orders were never made because had it been done, technically speaking we would've gotten that first roll that never got served). No apologies were made as we sat there mindlessly or reassure us that our order was coming out. Save your time & money & dine elsewhere. What's going on, chefs?!? When you guys first started, everything was on point. Today, everything was off point. I got a bowl of noodles (Lai Mein) today and I did not taste anything but hot boiled water. My husband ordered a Wonton Noodle and the noodle was soggy, but at least there were some tastes in the broth. My bowl was so tasteless that I had to transfer my noodles into his broth after he was finished. That was how bad it was. I hope it was just an unlucky day. Food was delicious! My husband and I came here for lunch on a Friday. It was not busy so we were happy to easily get a table. We had the shrimp crepe which was really good. The fish fillet and Chinese brocoli over rice was really good - love the gravy! Wish we ordered 2 of these two dishes. I thought the shrimp won ton noodle soup was a bit bland but my husband enjoyed it. We both agreed the fish maw and seafood soup was bland - did not like it as much. Freshly made beef cheungfun can be had for less than what we could find in other restaurants in the area. So silky delicious and large portion, too. The Cantonese five spice duck was just $10. It was so flavorful that my wife and I finished every piece on the plate. The house special fried rice was equally delicious and, as mentioned before, a large portion. They have an ordering system on the table, but it is only good for making the ordering selection. You still need the wait staff to login and approve the order or to pay. It is good value; the food taste and portions were reasonable for its price. I liked the Beef Brisket Curry Pot. It reminds me of the Portuguese Chicken dish. They also have some higher end options like Steamed Prawns with garlic and vermicelli and Roasted Squab. I was not as big a fan on both these dishes. While well prepared, the ingredients were not as fresh and foodies can pick up the differences in the taste pretty easily. There service could use some improvement. Most of the dishes arrived quickly, but we were still missing one dish halfway through the mean. The wait staff didn't come back to check on us until we flag them down. I asked for extra small bowls to share the Beef Brisket soup noodle and he only brought us 2 bowls for 6 of us and no spoons to go with it. We ate it and had a good time. The crab Rangoon was a 10/10. I would definitely order that. Now when it comes to the service the other reviewers are correct. It took us over 30 minutes to receive our check. The food came quick but they did not want us to pay. The restaurant was mostly empty so there was no reason for us to be waiting as long as we did. We even had our takeout containers and no dishes left on the table. Yet still no check. If this place wants to succeed it needs to have better management and the food should be seasoned more. Was in Chinatown and picked this place for hot pot because online it looked really good. It was not good. Not even slightly good. It should have been busy on a Saturday night during the lunar new year, but there were many empty tables. That could have been a clue. Nothing was seasoned or flavorful at all. The broths were bland like dishwater and lacked everything needed for good hot pot. The sauces were serve yourself from a cart on the other side of the room and there was nothing noteworthy there either. Some soy, sesame oil, oyster, minced garlic and that's about it. We ordered on a tablet and it needed it to "be confirmed by waiter" but then no one came back to the table to "confirm" our order for like a half hour. When the hot pot and food items we chose finally arrived, there were many things missing from our order and they added a random pile of slimy liver on our plate that we absolutely did not order. Service was also sub par. No one came back to check on us in the hour and a half we were there so we literally had to get up and walk up to the counter to pay our bill. Then she looked unnerved that we did. I don't know how the rest of the plated entrees were, but I will never return for the hot pot. I would recommend going somewhere else in Chinatown for that. After complaining and asking to remove the unreceived item from our bill we were promptly commanded to leave in an utterly unrespectable manner from our server. At the restaurant I went to pick it up and on the receipt it said Sampan Congee. I notified the worker that I didn't order sampon, I ordered fish. The worker told me yes sampon means fish. So I said ok cool. Drove all the way home (30min). Opened up the food and it's like peanuts and pork! I can not eat pork. I can not eat nuts. And I found out Sampan does not mean fish. I called the restaurant to talk to someone. They were basically dismissive. They said sorry and the next time I come in I can get an order for free.
