It came with yucca and fries. The carne asada beef was tough and the rice and beans it came with was ok. The philly cheesesteak had a lot of american cheese so it was very rich (not the good kind) and salty. The pollo was the most disappointing for a pollo establishment. Super dry like it was a day old. The fries we got were all like one inch in length it was very odd. The yucca had to be the best thing they got going. It was moist inside and crispy outside and pairs great with the sauce. I would probably come back for the yucca and that's the only reason why I even gave this three stars.

Extremely Disappointing Experience - Poor Hygiene, Food Quality, and Service…read more This store has gone downhill since the management changed. I visited on October 14, 2026, to place an order, and my experience was extremely disappointing. When I entered the store, a female employee was cleaning and mopping the floor. She asked how she could help, and I told her I wanted to place an order. She then came to the register and took my order while wearing the same gloves she had been using for cleaning. After taking my order, she handed me the receipt and began counting money without changing her gloves. I was watching the entire process. Shortly afterward, another customer came in to pick up an order. The same employee, still wearing the gloves she had used for cleaning and handling money, picked up the customer's food and handed it to him without changing her gloves. This was extremely concerning and raised serious questions about the store's hygiene and food-handling practices. To make matters worse, another male employee sat in a chair next to the register and appeared to be asleep. My order was eventually brought to me by another female employee. When I got home and opened my food, I was shocked by what I found. My order included a chicken salad, loaded fries, chicken wings, and a chicken sandwich. The chicken salad looked as though someone had already eaten part of it. The container was mostly lettuce and mozzarella, with barely any chicken. The loaded fries and chicken wings were equally disappointing. When my son tried them, the fries were so hard that he could barely eat them. The taste and texture suggested that the food was not freshly prepared and may have been reheated from a previous batch. I have been visiting this store for quite some time and have never experienced these kinds of problems before. Unfortunately, this is now the second time I have had a negative experience since the management or staff changed. The repeated issues with food quality, cleanliness, and customer service are unacceptable. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously, reviews its food-handling and hygiene procedures, and ensures that employees follow proper food safety practices. Customers deserve fresh, properly prepared food and a clean environment. Based on my recent experiences, I cannot recommend this store. The poor service and food quality are damaging the reputation of Hungry Joe's, and I hope the management takes immediate steps to address these problems.

I had a okayish experience the first time, and I don't think I went back for a few months until I was in the area. I tried it again, same experience, until I went back about three days ago. I ordered the same thing except the food was actually pretty good this time, crisp, hot, and fresh. The customer service was nice too, and the vibes were cool, I liked the whole area, people eating and talking. Only reason I deducted a star is because it wasn't that good and one of the toilets were clogged. Meh experience overall.

I took a look and saw that after I went to Ms. Peaches a year ago, an employee had left a message about my experience. Then, I got curious and wondered if there were other similar restaurants in the area. My search found a Yelp list of "soul food restaurants". Some of the places listed weren't even soul food places. Yet, on the list was JW's. I clicked on the link and discovered that JW's was in Sterling, and it was getting good reviews. Looking at their menu made both of us want to give it a try. We were here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. At that time of day, the place wasn't busy. That changed as time passed. To order food, go to the counter and give the person working the counter your order. I ordered the catfish platter which comes with two sides of your choosing plus a biscuit. I chose fried okra and black-eyed peas. Everything is prepared to order, except for the biscuits. It took a while for our food to come out. A couple who was sitting nearby said to us, "The food takes a while, but it's worth it." We both agreed once we dug into our meals. As for my meal, it came with two fried catfish filets. The fried okra was an amazingly generous portion. My husband helped me eat it. The black-eyed peas were a more reasonable size. They were properly prepared; however, I thought they could have used a bit more seasoning. My husband ordered the fried shrimp platter, which came with several fried shimp, cheesy grits, some fried veggies (fried green tomatoes, I think), plus a biscuit. The biscuits, by the way, are amazingly good. As for ambiance, it strikes me as a spot where Guy Fieri might want to visit. Simple decor, yet clean. The staff is friendly, and the man who took our orders came out to talk to us when things slowed down. He asked how we located the place, I replied "Yelp". We let him know how much we enjoyed the food and that we plan to return. We overheard him tell another customer that they are planning to get food trucks. To find the place, drive down Route 606 (Old Ox Road) heading south. Stay in the right lane and then turn onto Relocation Drive (at the traffic light, turn right). Go up the road a bit to Executive Drive and make a left, then another left into the complex. The restaurant is on the side of the building closest to Relocation Drive.
