Sliced Brisket and Mac n Cheese

So excited Yerby's BBQ is now in Plano. I've been to their Pilot Point location twice (which is more of a road trip), so having one closer is a win -- even if it's still a bit of a drive for me coming from near downtown Dallas. Definitely recommend going early (we didn't ), but we lucked out and were the second-to-last people to get the final sliced brisket. It was super juicy and really good. I brought my family, including one person who only eats halal, so it was awesome that Yerby's is halal and she finally got to try legit Texas brisket too. The place is small-ish and was packed with a bit of a line, but the service was friendly and moved pretty smoothly. Must visit, especially if you only eat halal.

Yes! The best bbq I have had maybe ever. Collard greens are a bit salty but maybe they are meant to be? The dill pickles are delicious. Definitely order the brisket. Moist flavorful, not dry. Just go. Support a local business and awesome food. You won't regret it. Staff is super nice too.

I made a last minute trip to Dallas this weekend, and that meant another stamp on my Texas Monthly passport. As I was driving to Princeton, I decided to make a stop at Yearby's Barbecue and Waterice at their new brick and mortar location in Plano. I come from a different culture than the pitmasters of Yearby's, but my childhood neighbor was Muslim, and as a curious kid I always asked him questions about his culture. Through that, I learned how food could be halal and how he never ate pork. It took me a while to grasp that finding halal food was not an easy feat for him. He had to have his meals prepped every day and could never eat the food served at school. I apologize for my ignorance, but until hearing about Yearby's halal style barbecue, I never once considered how there was a barrier of entry for Muslims when it came to barbecue. Considering barbecue is one of the greatest inventions in cuisine, Yearby's existence is frankly incredible for that reason alone. I arrived right at 11 am with only one group in front of me in line. After recently moving into their new brick and mortar, foot traffic was high. There are a lot of tables to sit at, but those filled up quickly, requiring some people to sit outside in the cold to eat their barbecue. That's how busy they are right now. I ordered a few things off their menu, and I'll share my thoughts on everything. Brisket: Their slab of brisket is fantastic. It is sweeter than most brisket I've had elsewhere, but I actually really liked that. The sweetness balances nicely with the savory brisket rub, and I destroyed the slice I had. Hot Link Sausage: I thought their beef sausage was pretty good. It was very beefy and well flavored with a nice spice kick. Chicken Leg Quarter: I don't normally jump on chicken at barbecue joints, but because there was no pork, I decided to give their chicken leg quarter a shot since it was only $5.50, which is an absolute steal. It was smoky as you would expect, but the seasoning and flavor on the skin really made it special. I had to pause eating the brisket just to keep destroying the chicken. It was incredibly juicy, and I genuinely think this is some of the best barbecue chicken I've had. That skin is legendary. Mac and Cheese: I only opted for one small side, choosing the mac and cheese, and I thought it was good. I know some people prefer a more liquid cheese sauce, while I lean toward something a bit stiffer, and this fell more into the former category. That said, it didn't stop me from finishing the entire container and scraping every last bit out. I will say I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the waterice ready to go when I ordered at 11 am, but only because I've heard it's a big part of the reason to visit. I guess I'll have to come back next time I'm in the area just to get some waterice. There was a great crowd at Yearby's, and after trying it, it makes me genuinely happy that there is a halal certified barbecue joint putting out this much flavor, passion, quality, and love. Texas barbecue includes so many different cultures, and that's what makes the journey so exciting. RIYL: Quality barbecue north of Dallas proper

This Halal BBQ place is on the Texas Monthly BBQ List, so I had to try it. They used to be a food truck in Pilot Point, but now have this brick and mortar restaurant. It being Halal means they don't have anyything pork, but I didn't miss it. I tried the smoked meatloaf, chicken quarters, hot link, and brisket. The meatloaf had a nice smoke flavor to it, but not enough to overpower the beef flavor. There is a distinct taste to it, a spice I can't put my finger on, but I liked it. It's the only thing I used the BBQ sauce for since it was on the drier side. The chicken quarters were fantastic. Smokey, we'll seasoned, and juicy. Yum. The hot link had a nice snap to it, deep beefy flavor and a little spice. Finally, the brisket. They slice an order half fatty and half lean and I'm glad they did. I often avoid the fatty, because often the fat just isn't rendered well enough at BBQ places and you end up with just a piece of fat in your mouth. That was not the case here. It was completely rendered and basically melted in your mouth. The seasoning seemed the traditional SPG and was on point! None of this was unexpected considering TX Monthly's high praise, but can we talk about the sides!?!?!? I ordered brisket chili, collard greens, baked beans, elotes, and Mac and cheese. I only got the Mac and cheese for my kids because I usually don't like it, but dang! It was creamy, cheesy, and flavorful! I ate half of the container. Lol The collard greens were delicious and tender as well. And the elotes were creamy with just a little spice. The baked beans were good, too. The brisket chili was really beefy with lots of meat and some beans. It's so thick you can eat it with a fork. And the flavor delivers! After all this fat and salt, you need a little palate cleanser, so I tried the Mango Waterice. I expected only once had Waterice in Philly before and this was just as good. For the uninitiated, it's almost like Italian ice, but a little creamier. So, we're extremely lucky to now have two excellent BBQ joints in the area with Yearby's joining Vaquero's.

We saw this restaurant featured on the TV show "Texas Monthly" covering the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas. We looked up their website and I signed up for their email list. I received an email inviting me to their soft opening, before they were open to the public. Yearby's previously had a restaurant in Pilot Point that has permanently closed and this one is opening in its place. We waited in line outside on a chilly day and talked to others in line waiting to get in. A few said that they had been to the previous location and it was so good. We were so excited to try it! We wanted to order sliced brisket but it was all gone so we went with the chopped brisket. All the tables were occupied so we placed our order to-go. Also tried the Mac & Cheese, banana pudding and the mango waterice. I had never tried halal bbq, but was very open to trying it. Sadly, I wasn't impressed with the food. I wanted to love it, especially since it was listed by Texas Monthly magazine as a top 50. My favorite item was the mango waterice! It was amazing, even on a chilly day! I would definitely return for waterice and look forward to trying other flavors too. The people working there were nice as could be. I really hope this restaurant thrives with customers that enjoy halal bbq.

A Texas Monthly top bbq restaurant in the Plano area is wonderful. I went for their opening and once again a few days later. So far I have tried the loaded potato and the chopped brisket on it was delish. The second they still had brisket so o tried half pound which had perfectly rendered fat. Simply melt in your mouth. Service was at the counter. You pay, get a number and wait with anticipation for it to be called. Ambiance - whole on the wall bbq joint. Don't skip the sides - the corn was perfect. Let's keep this place in Plano busy!!

As you approach the restaurant, the smoke is inviting learning you in to the ambience of the food. The brisket is the golden nugget. I do want to inform that they don't let you know that they are cashless mind that the pricing of everything is OK. Its $38 bucks a pound but they do offer some nice good combo options if that price is a little alarming for the brisket. It's beautiful to read about their origins. They started in 2021 and they're flourishing pretty well. The service is pushed as self-explanatory. Did you like how the server explained to us and asked if there was our first time and kind of guided us where the condiments are! The chicken combo has flavor deliciousness it's sweet. The meat comes off the bone highly recommend getting the chicken. At the end of the day, it's mouthwatering finger, licking. Deliciousness.

I am so happy to have found this place. Try the sliced brisket, man n cheese, and sweet corn. Phenomenal and melts in your mouth. You get sooo much food for the price. The employees are so nice and I love the vibe. 100% halal God bless.

It was perfect for my friends and I who were super hungry and wanted to try a few items. We started with the lamb samsa ( not pictured as I was too hungry) which was perfectly baked with a juicy spicy lamb that was super tender inside. We then also had this beef noodle dish which was the best dish of the night. Can't recall the them of it but, I'd definitely come back just for that dish. We also got the lamb shank Plov which was another favorite, and lastly the dumplings, which were our least favorite. The dumpling dough was a but too thick for our liking. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, especially with our server who was so kind and friendly, and so were her family. I'd definitely come back here again to try some of their other dishes next time.

You can tell she genuinely cares about sharing her culture and cuisine. The space itself is lovely, with thoughtful decor and relaxing music that creates a welcoming atmosphere without being too sleepy. It's clear that pride in heritage and culture shines through in every detail. We ordered a little bit of everything - Uyghur laghman, korma chop, Big Plate Chicken, lamb skewers, lamb samsa, and ayran - and every single item exceeded expectations. The lamb skewers were tender and flavorful, but the lamb samsa were the moment we realized we were in for something truly special. They were unbelievably delicious: crisp pastry, deeply seasoned filling, and so aromatic that you don't want the bite to end. Don't let the menu descriptions fool you into thinking the noodle dishes are similar. They might read like variations on meat and noodles, but in reality each one is completely distinct and packed with its own personality. The Big Plate Chicken comes with the widest, springiest noodles and carries the most heat. The korma chop features wonderfully chewy noodles with a medium kick. And the Uyghur laghman (hand-pulled, by the way) has the thinnest noodles and, in my opinion, the best texture of all. Every dish is hearty, rich, vibrant, and so full of flavor that I can't possibly do them justice in words. You simply have to try them yourself. Even the ayran stood out. I've had it many times before, but this one was exceptional - perfectly salty in a way that enhances the tangy, yogurt-like flavor instead of overpowering it. Our total came to $80, but considering we intentionally ordered a wide spread, it works out to about $20 - 30 per person - an amazing deal for food this thoughtful and delicious. Highly, highly recommended. This place is something special, and perfect for anyone looking to experience authentic Uyghur cuisine!
