    Sake Cup Selection
    Autumn M.

This place was so cozy! Upon entering, we were greeted with a welcoming person and they let us pick where we wanted to sit. Jonathan was our server and he was nice. We started off with some sake tastings. Once we picked a bottle, we were shown a tray of sake cups so we could choose which one we wanted to drink out of. Then, we got the kale salad and the kimchi assortments which were so nice and crispy. The salad dressing was also very umami I believe. I devoured them all and I don't even care for salad. The other courses were cooked for us and put on our plates. My favorite was the white ponzu sauce and the roll of meat in whipped egg yolk. We finished the meal off with a cup of tea that was on the house. We were definitely catered to and will be returning.

Second time back after 7 or 8 years. I thought about the sukiyaki style beef in the egg sauce all these years. And it was just was wonderful as I remembered. Went here with a group of 9 for a birthday, (reserved via resy), and they accommodated several allergies quite well, and were very thoughtful with substitutions and omissions for those folks. The beef quality was amazing, our server Brian was amazing, will be back for sure. The green tea (with refills all of dinner) was super high quality matcha, and is definitely worth it. The meal here was so delicious and beefy and so well done that I'll think about it for a while. Hopefully I'm back again sooner than 8 years.

Customer service is ideal, meet is above and beyond, the prices are pretty high, but the food is definitely great, it's vary nice inside

We decided to come here for dinner on a whim, and were pleasantly surprised when we realized it's connected to the sukiyaki restaurant IMA, which we absolutely love. We went with the "Yazawa Omakase" and meat was really good quality and the service was excellent..they're super friendly, attentive, and grill everything to perfection in front of you. My big complaint though is that their omakase options should definitely be more inclusive. I was a little surprised because aside from the appetizer, it was basically just meat. You have to order rice, vegetables, etc to make it a real meal...it's not really omakase in my book if you have to order so many things separately. Overall, I would give 5 stars for quality and service but only 3 stars for value...it's just a little difficult to fathom the price with so many better value options in the LA area.

This is my second time at Yazawa... I actually really enjoyed my first time at Yazawa and it was during Covid when we had to sit outside. During that time, the server was consistently checking on us. This time, there were multiple servers but felt like the service wasn't attentive at all. Had to wait for them to cook and/check on us. The food tasted better the first time too. I was wowed and excited to come back again. We got the Yazawa Omakase. It's actually not a lot of food with some really good quality pieces. Don't think it was worth the price. The garlic fried rice had no garlic flavor. Only tasted like a bunch of butter. They used dry garlic chips, not fresh garlic. FYI if you love garlic. I was annoyed because I expected garlic flavored fried rice. The experience felt underwhelming this time. I would not recommend this place as I know there are better places out there.

Wow wow wow. What an experience! Okay to start off, this is a pricey meal so be prepared to cash out haha. Went into this because I had been craving Wagyu so so much so I didn't want to sell myself short. Parking was not bad at all, it's on the street. I did come on a Friday evening and there were a lot of open spots. The meat quality though, was insane. It was the best Japanese bbq I've had in LA. Went with the tasting menu of course and it came with so much tender meat. The quality was what stood out for me though, because the quality was so good the flavors and the taste were out of this world. So yummy! The service was really spot on too, you get your own server that grills for you. I was so stuffed by the end of it and I'd love to come again! Sake selections were good too!

Yazawa is hands down one of the most incredible dining experiences in Beverly Hills the location itself is stunning especially right now with Rodeo Drive glowing in full Christmas mode it feels like you're stepping into a holiday movie from the moment we arrived everything was top notch we went with the Chef's Omakase and it was absolutely the right choice every dish was perfectly curated and beautifully presented did you know they import their Wagyu fresh from Japan every single day not frozen fresh that's insane and you can truly taste the difference each bite was buttery rich and melt in your mouth perfection it's the kind of meal that makes you feel genuinely special a huge shoutout to Justin for his amazing recommendations and next level customer service he made the experience unforgettable making sure every detail was perfect Yazawa isn't just dinner it's a celebration of flavor quality and hospitality highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable night out in Beverly Hill

I feel like I'm in Japan. I love this place... like love love love. The flavors are amazingly on point with the flavors in Japan. The wagyu meat is out of this f-ing craaaazy world! Like WTF?! We ordered: shishito, tan tan noodles, vegetable soup, truffle mushroom, wagyu brisket and wagyu ribeye! My head was spinning from goodness! The service was superb! Jonathan was awesome! This place beats all bbq place in Los Angeles! I'll definitely be coming back!

This is my favorite Yakiniku place in Los Angeles. Service is great, food is great. It's a on the pricey side but it's worth it. Great quality meat.

We had a fantastic meal with friends on a week night. The selections were all scrumptious but the surprises were the grilled veggies and the chicken! I thought the corkage fee was too high but the meal was superb and the service was really really great. Don't miss the rice. I ate every grain!

We dined at Yazawa for my husband's bday and it did not disappoint. The entire experience left us reminiscing about our very first international trip together as boyfriend/girlfriend! We were lucky enough to travel to Japan and got to try authentic Japanese bbq there. Yazawa transported us back to Tokyo and we highly recommend anyone who wants a top class experience to come by. Service from start to finish was excellent. Servers were dynamic and friendly, explaining each meat cut and how to properly cook it. We had the confidence to cook our own meat after being shown a few times. We went with the classic omakase with the notion that we'd add more a la carte items if hungry. It turned out to be the perfect amount of meat. We also added the amazing garlic rice, house pickles, and salad. We want to come back to try the kimchi! My husband's favorite meat was the sukiyaki style with the frothy egg. It was sweet, juicy, and very unique. I couldn't tell you which I loved the most tbh. Everything was a home run and I was stuffed by the end. Ambiance is dim and cozy. Pro-tip there are bidets in the restrooms :') extra points for that! After 2 rounds of drinks plus everything we ordered, our total with tip was $500. My husband loved his experience and would absolutely come back. We'll see you again soon Yazawa!

Came here for my boyfriend's birthday, and it was absolutely delicious! We got the $140 omakase, and it was incredible. Each dish comes out with a creative presentation, and it was entertaining to listen to our waiter explain each dish/ cut of meat. Service was incredible. They were so attentive. It was also my first time having beef tartare, and I thought I was going to not like it since I mostly like my meats on the well-done side, but it actually was delicious and tasted similar to tuna sashimi. We added the wagyu garlic fried rice as an appetizer. It was a large portion enough to share for 2 people, so I recommend splitting it. There was the option to add a "Happy Birthday" dessert, which I think was an extra $25? The ice cream and cheesecake that it came with was not overly sweet, and a great way to end our meal. It was definitely a memorable experience. We would return sooner if it wasn't so expensive! Strongly recommend, especially for a birthday or special occasion.

Service was well paced with the first course arriving in a few minutes followed by the main. We didn't have high expectations for the cold tofu and okra but it was delicious and the tofu soaked up the soy based sauce and was balanced by the slight crunchiness of the okra. The waffle fries were exceptional - double fried with a curry aioli sauce. The tonkatsu and ramen were also great. The tonkatsu had a light, crispy batter and the ramen was so delicious, with the addition of corn, peas, black fungus and bamboo shoots, truly comforting. The burger was a hit, too. Juicy and flavorful. The small details here didn't go unnoticed, the unique plates, nice bamboo chopsticks and cute hippo candy plate. We chose to sit in front by the open windows since it was such a nice afternoon but the dining area further inside was welcoming, too. I've also been here outside of DineLA and it's just an overall solid experience.

Update- was really looking forward to dinner at Chubby Curry. My friends and I have patronized this…read moreplace since it opened. It was our go-to place for almost two years. We hadn't been in about 6 months and decided to drop in for dinner before a movie- Wow, has it changed- and not in a good way. There were fewer staff and they were spread thin, with not even half the tables full. The place was a little unkept. The menu is all digital- so we had some questions ordering our favorites. We got the Wagu steak with rice and curry and the breaded chicken breast. When the Wagu arrived it was unrecognizable- brown and looked over cooked - no pink. The entire dish was completely unappetizing. It was sad looking. I tried to show the server that this looked nothing like the menu photos in the front wall. He was already flustered and told me "to calm down ma'am" and that is "how it comes- we put soy sauce on it." The calm down nonsense was a real put off. My next question was, why is a restaurant putting soy sauce on perfect Wagu? None of the menu photos show soy sauce. We have never had soy sauce drenched Wagu here ever. The amount of soy sauce - if any-- is up to the guest. We all have our sodium preferences, right? I personally liked their Wagu plate as is. I tried to get the server to follow me to the front wall to show him the photo of all their Wagu dishes on their front wall and he was really not happy. Those photos were how their food always looked- fresh- colorful and delicious looking. The comparison was stunningly different- he would not hear it - and was visible upset with me. Sending this back caused quite a problem- more like an argument with the server who insisted this is how Wagu comes. It does not and I posted a review previously with photos from several visits to this once fun to eat at place. They offered to remake it and I caught the server and chef's convo. Chef was bewildered with the whole no soy sauce thing. The server came back with a small piece of Wagu in a service cup to show me what their Wagu looked like before the soy sauce bath. It was not the bright fresh pink. It was gray, like it had been prepped a couple days ago and refrigerated. Completely unacceptable and not appetizing. I told them to please not remake it. It would be a waste and please Just remove it and we'd order something else. The server was so upset with me he told me he would remove everything and not charge us at all. I felt that was unfair to the restaurant and his attitude was like don't order anything, and do not come back. My guy friend insisted that we pay and the server came back with a bill for just the chicken. I gave him cash for everything we ordered including the Wagu, and he brought me almost all the money back. I was particularly insulted by this. This was such negative energy- I did not want to touch it. I left all the money on the table and left. Message to the owner- replacing servers with digital menus does not lessen their work. it increases their time explaining what dishes are and how dishes come. You need more people because servers have more work in less time. I really felt for this server and did not feel any of this was his fault. The quality drop in food, the excess work due to digital menus, and food not matching the promises made in photos at the front wall from opening day are not your server's fault. We were expecting the same consistency and were sadly disappointed. We will not be returning.

The staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. There were some delays in getting a few of the dishes to the table, but the service itself was still good and the servers did their best to take care of us. The food was fresh, high quality, and definitely enjoyable. However, I'm someone who loves fine dining and high-end restaurants, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to reviews. While everything we ordered tasted very good, there wasn't a single dish that really stood out as unique or unforgettable. Nothing made me stop and think, "Wow, I've never had anything like this before." The food was delicious, but not necessarily memorable. The pricing is on the expensive side, but that's also what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and location, so I don't consider that a negative. Overall, we had a nice evening, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the service. I would absolutely consider coming back in the future to try more items from the menu. Maybe there are some signature dishes that we missed this time around. If a future visit impresses me a little more, I could definitely see this becoming a 5-star review. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

The restaurant isn't crowded on a Thursday evening and I was seated immediately. Original ramen 5/5 has a stronger chicken broth flavor. Lemon butter ramen 4/5 is masked more with the buttery and creamy flavor. So the chicken broth flavor isn't as strong. Miso teri bowl 5/5 has a charcoaled flavor and is favored well by my group. Gyoza 5/5 is okay. You can't go wrong with gyoza. Overall, the ramen this restaurant used is a wheat type, not egg. The ramen noodles have speckles of wheat on them and appear much more clear. My table thought the wheat flavor was too overwhelming while I didn't think so. I definitely like the original ramen more because it has a stronger chicken f

MATU WOW. This lil…read morejoint had been on my radar for a while..at least 2 or 3 years. Finally crossed it off the list, and it was quite the joyous and memorable dining experience. I really gotta respect their dedication to red meat and the holy art of cooking a damn good steak. This place is essentially what I'm looking for in a restaurant. Basically hits on all cylinders and checks off all the critical boxes. I don't want to sound all dramatic and such, but I'm dying to go back and try all the other items I didn't have, as well as check out the bar experience. I spoke to some locals outside before they opened, and they weren't just lovely -- they also painted a pretty picture of what the overall vibe is here. It's clear a lot of people in the Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills area love coming here very frequently. Our server, who I assumed is named Nolan because that's what's shown on the receipt, was very accommodating, kind, and easy to talk to. I think he did a fantastic job dealing with my difficult, picky gf. Haha. I can't say anything was less than stellar. The croquettes in that celery purée stuff were phenomenal. Garlic bread was seasoned and baked to perfection. The bone broth sipper was nourishing af. French fries were perhaps the best I've had in years. Broccolini was fresh, high quality, and complimented the steak very well. I'm bummed we only got to try just the ribeye when it came to the cuts, but my gf did not want to order anything under medium or medium rare that night, so that was a bummer. It's her loss! The panna cotta was the creamiest sweet treat in all of LaLa Land. This is a great place, and it's a top-tier steakhouse. SoCal sometimes lacks places of this caliber that NY, Chicago, and SF / Napa have, but this place is a very close contender to some of the top cream-of-the-crop, steak-centered restaurants in the country. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Unfortunately, our initial table was extremely close to a very loud neighboring party, making conversation difficult. To the restaurant's credit, the staff accommodated our request to move, and the new table significantly improved the experience. The food was excellent. We ordered the Dinner for Two, and every component was well executed and enjoyable. The quality of the beef was evident, and it was clear why MATŪ has built such a strong reputation. The cocktails were also well made. Where the experience began to unravel was the service. Wine service took roughly 20 minutes, dessert was noticeably delayed, and our server seemed to disappear for extended periods throughout the evening. The most frustrating part came at the end of the meal when it took more than 25 minutes to receive the check. When it finally arrived, it was delivered by a manager in a manner that felt dismissive rather than hospitable. To make matters worse, an automatic gratuity had already been added to the bill. While I understand the practice in some situations, it felt particularly disappointing given the level of service we received throughout the evening. MATŪ serves outstanding food, and that is what earns this review more than a few stars. However, hospitality is about more than what comes out of the kitchen. For a restaurant operating at this price point, the service should match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, on this visit, it did not. I left impressed by the meal but disappointed by the overall dining experience, and I'm not sure I would return.
