But, that said, I do get why the lot would forgo the license. There was some cooking magic, which speeds things up and helps bypass some of the tedious parts of some recipes. If you're wanting to cook everything from beginning to end, this may not be your best option. But, if you're wanting to get a real sense of how to cook / bake differ t things with a fun atmosphere to boot, this is for you!

My daughter signed us up for the Dolce Italiana class as my holiday gift. The class was scheduled…read morefrom 10-12 but when we arrived a few minutes early, the doors were locked. Someone else who was waiting let us know that they don't open the doors till 10. Once they did open, we spent 15 minutes browsing the retail area waiting for the class to start. Once we got inside the classroom, we were directed to the coat rack and then to the sink to wash up and put on our aprons. Chef Laurie was our instructor and she did a great job of demonstrating and helping everyone. It was a full class of 16 and when I mentioned to her that I felt we were being rushed, she let me know that it's much better with less students. I really feel like they should cap the class at a smaller number to ensure everyone feels they aren't so rushed. We worked in groups of 4 so my daughter and I were paired with another couple - who we really clicked with. All of our ingredients were pre-measured on trays for each of the 3 pastries that we made. We made our Bomboloni dough but didn't use it because it takes too long to rise so we used pre-made dough and Laurie would use the dough we made for something else. Working in a group of 4 actually helped us finish everything more quickly because while someone was doing one thing, the others were doing something else. I did feel like I didn't get to do much though - I would have liked to actually do all the steps. Then we made our Tiramisu and it was taken away to be refrigerated. Laurie had a helper who did all the washing up of our bowls, tools, and mixer pieces so they were ready for the next item, and that was a big help. Next we made our cannoli shells and while those were frying, we made the filling. Then we cut out our Bomboloni dough and fried and filled that. The pastries came out pretty good but because we were so rushed we weren't able to make an even number to split between the groups. The class ended before noon which seemed very short. I enjoyed the class but I think this could have been a much better experience if they had actually given us the 120 minutes or capped the class at less people.

The hangers were the main character. Everything else was supporting cast. Some people impulse-buy...shoes. I impulse-buy organization systems. I have been known to remove products from their original packaging so I can place them into more aesthetically appealing storage containers. This is not a cry for help. It is a lifestyle and an intentional choice. Yes, I could have ordered everything online. But convenience wasn't the point. I wanted to see the products. I wanted to be seduced by perfectly arranged displays of...systems. And frankly, I needed to get out of the house. Back to the hangers. A very specific type. A very specific color. Blonde wood. This was not optional. I walked in like a man on a mission only to find the display empty. Again. This has happened before. I felt that quiet retail heartbreak and moved on, primary objective unfulfilled. There is something uniquely disappointing about an empty hanger display when your closet vision depends on tonal consistency. Then an employee asked, "Are you finding everything okay?" I decided to be brave and answered with one word: "No." She paused. That was clearly not the expected script. After a moment, she said she'd grab the manager. Enter John, manager, who found me mid spiral, comparing approximately 47 varieties of hooks. I explained the hanger situation and mentioned that this particular stock issue felt...recurring. He calmly said he'd check the back for new inventory. I returned to my hook deliberations, down to about 12 finalists, when John and the original employee approached me carrying boxes. And boxes of MY hangers. It felt like a retail miracle. I may not have audibly gasped, but internally? Full on happiness. They were gracious, apologetic about past stock gaps, and genuinely helpful. John smiled and said, "All you have to do is ask." Well, duh. Sometimes growth looks like saying "no" in a polite tone at The Container Store. There are dozens of other competitors and they're all better…read more Cort makes mass money not on renting but locking customers into long-term contracts, and automatically billing your bank account hundreds of dollars when the furniture falls apart, which costs a few dollars to make and which they make hundreds on in rental fees in the first place. It's a bad investment, they're not flexible like other companies if something happens and you need to return the furniture, and you risk thousands of dollars and your credit in dealing with them. I rented from them signing a contract for 6 months for the furniture. Most of it fell apart or broke by the time the 6 months was up, and yet they charged me huge fees on top of all the thousands I had already paid. I think this is a big part of how they make money. My chairs, kitchen table, nightstands, etc were barely used.

I went with Cort furniture because of its ties to Warren Buffet and its general reputation for being reputable company. Overall, the furniture renting experience and delivery went swimmingly. My only real complaint was that the furniture showroom was a little sketchy, which was mildly offputting, but not a huge deal. The delivery folk and the salesman were extremely professional and the product for the most part was quite good. Was it worth the money? No, but I wasnt paying for it so I didnt care. My only complaint would have been the sheet rental. Ya, I know... Im dumb. Given that they are setup for corp rentals with kitchen setups, bathroom setups, and linens - I would have assumed the stuff would be nice. To be honest with you, when I arrived to my condo and took a gander at the quilt, sheet and blanket they put on the bed - I promptly slept on the couch. Upon inspection, there were quite a number of pubic hairs in the blanket - which was gross. The quilt looked like something even a motel 6 or redroof in would turn their nose up at. Given the total cost for a year of renting that stuff was going to be like 500 bucks, I asked them to take it all back and I brought new. I did make it pretty clear that the linens were entirely unacceptable. Upon pickup, I had no issues with my deposit being refunded. The furniture lasted pretty damn well for the year I owned it. I can honestly say - it was a good experience - suspect linens and all. My opinion: Good company. Would rent from again. Avoid the linens.
