My usual looking for vegan/vegetarian food options this place came up. They had me sold with their Gardein food section! Like seriously excited to see that so there we went. They had an outdoor tent available but enclosed so not good enough for my father's idea of safe so we sadly took out. They were very accommodating with take out and even set up a flight for us to take out. Very nice people. I got a gardein wings which is a vegetarian imitation meat wings. I got a mix of sauces and they were so good! I couldn't tell a difference in wing flavors so they might have forgotten that part but the sauces were delicious. Also the barbecue wings themselves were so good. Also got a tomato bisque which was so good. Normally tomato bisque is too chunky for my taste this one was mostly puréed and had very good flavor. Just perfect for me. The beer sadly was mostly not as exciting as their food but oh well. It wasn't bad just the beers were mostly light and just not particularly unique or flavorful. I mean it would beat cheap domestic beer any day just nothing particularly great either. We did like the house Belgian Amber Triple. I went to the Yard House for a business lunch. I presume the only thing it has going for it is location, location, location. I'm sorry, but I just didn't see anything spectacular about the place. It's a huge eating hall that must run on the concept of volume and mediocrity. There was absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing original to the menu. It's all been done before. I had a chicken salad entree and it was clear that the salads were all made up in the morning and put in the refrigerator. Why do restaurants do this? Whenever I receive a cold salad bowl, I want to immediately return it. I would have if I weren't there for a business meeting. THe chicken was average, not seasoned and rather bland, but cooked properly. The lettuce was cold, too cold for a salad. The dressings, well, if they weren't purchased in bulk they should be, because there wasn't anything special about them. The service was average at best and the atmosphere was painfully mediocre. It's a huge eating hall. Every day this place stays open is a bonus. I can't help but think there's other places in Glenview that have more character, a more original menu, or a more creative approach. I recommend flagging down a roach coach and buying something there. The food may be slightly less quality, but it is far more original and memorable for an experience. read more

Today was my first time trying the normal entrees here (previously had only been here for beer and appetizers). Great decision to visit when the restaurant was less busy (soon after opening on a Saturday morning) as I had a great meal with quick service, carefully prepared food, and a pleasant atmosphere. As I mentioned before, the beer here is top notch -- great selection, perfectly cold, nicely presented. Fortunately, there food is just as great to pair this with. For an appetizer, I tried the duck fat potatoes. Usually, some would associate an excessively strong flavor of fat with this dish and a very greasy preparation. But to my surprise, the chips and wedges came out very crispy and not overpowering with duck fat flavor. The caramelized onion bacon dip was nice and creamy without being overpowering with the onion or bacon flavor. A refreshing and lighter interpretation that I really enjoyed. The shrimp lettuce wrap came with a generous amount of shrimp that was tossed with tofu, pine nuts, and onions. Three dipping sauces (savory, sweet, and spicy) complemented the wraps perfectly. The chicken schnitzel sandwich came in a much lighter and less salty preparation than I was expecting. The fluffy telera roll complimented very tender meat that was coated with a nice crispy batter where the bread crumbs and eggs were evident. I could've used a bit more flavor from the mayo and tomato bacon onion jam, but overall still great. The fries were prepared perfectly crisp and matched great with a well balanced curry ketchup. The angel hair pasta was a luxurious vegetarian dish with pine nuts, chili flakes, olives, broccolini, eggplant, and roasted roma tomatoes. Overall, a nice variety of colors, textures, and flavors and the light sauce allowed me to clearly taste all the different vegetables in the dish. It wasn't too spicy as there was only a light sprinkle of chili flakes. The BBQ chicken pizza was nice. The best part of this was that the BBQ sauce was not the theme ingredient of the dish and allowed the grilled chicken, cheese, and crust flavors to come out. This is more of the preparation that you'd find in a flatbread instead of a pizza and was enjoyable. The clam chowder soup was great. Generous amount of clams, great creamy consistency with a strong flavor of potatoes to add to its heartiness. Definitely recommended if you're considering a soup. The meal ended with the mini trio sampler. The Lemon soufflé cake has a delicious dense souffle with delicious fresh cream on top with a nice bright citrus flavor overall. The peach apple cobbler tastes just like a perfectly made pie although the apple flavor does dominate the peach a bit but still delicious and not overly sweet. The chocolate soufflé cake is not too dark and not too light with the cocoa content. Dense, rich, and delicious with a light ice cream on top to help temper the richness. All 3 items came out piping hot, but served quickly enough where the ice cream and cream on top did not melt before I had a chance to taste them. Overall, a great meal by any measure. Great selection, reasonable prices, I'm excited to bring my friends and co-workers back here again soon for another great experience. read more

Had a less than desirable dinner tonight at the Yard house in Glenview I am sorry to say. The drink are always good however I ordered the clam chowder soup, which I have loved for years, and the bowl can out Luke warm. They quickly replaced it with a fresh bowl that was piping hot but this was Mostly broth and not much else. My wife and I shared a new dish LOBSTER BISQUE AGNOLOTTI $18.75 which was ravioli with lobster, shrimp, white wine, lobster bisque. This sounded so good but was a big disappointment. The filling was almost non existent. When I think of ravioli, the pasta should have a center that is taller than the rest the holds the filling, ours was about the same height and what little filling there was puréed and hardly distinguishable of what it was. This was clearly not worth the $ paid. I would not recommended it. read more

I realllly wanted to try it, but went with the Black Truffle burger instead and it lived up to its name. Truffle was not lacking in cheese, so yummy. Comes with tomato bacon jam but I asked for it on the side. Ordered med rare and it was cooked perfectly. Didn't think I was that hungry but before I knew it I had eaten the entire burger. Not a heavy or greasy burger. It went down so good. Fries were awesome and addicting and you get a nice serving. So happy I still had some left on my plate (who needs more carbs?). French onion soup was good. My coworker had the Tortilla soup and raved about it. Portions were generous. Service was excellent and our waitress was helpful and friendly. The best thing about this place is their happy hour. There are drinks specials and a lot of the appetizers are half price. Quite a variety of beers if you are a beer drinker which I am not. First, the good: The full-service bar offers a myriad of craft beers on tap. The weekday 3 to 6 PM Happy Hour features substantial discounts on appetizers and beverages (this attracts quite a crowd). The extensive menu includes not just the usual pub grub but also trendy specialties plus select items for health-conscious diners. Over the course of several visits, most everything we've tasted here has been quite enjoyable. Our faves include burgers, fish & chips, and the Cuban roasted pork dip. Now, the bad: When Happy Hour overlaps dinnertime, the kitchen gets slammed. This leads to timing glitches and food temperature/prep problems. The servers seem to lack the experience and skills to deal with such issues. We've observed these problems on past visits to this location. And finally, the ugly: Our group had a 5 PM reservation on a weeknight. You guessed it--a meltdown in the back room was amplified by spectacularly inept service in the front room. After an interminable wait, apps and entrees all came out at the same time. The runners who brought the food didn't have a clue what was on the plates they were carrying or who ordered what. One clumsy server bumped a platter against the head of one of our guests. A grilled chicken dish was overcooked. Two cold entrees were sent back to the kitchen--by the time these were replaced, everyone else had finished their meals. It took multiple requests to obtain missing items, beverage refills, etc. Coffee arrived lukewarm and bitter. When complaints to a head server brought a smarmy, condescending response, we asked to speak with the manager. The manager apologized and comped the meal for our entire party. Because of his consideration, I boosted my rating of this Yard House visit from one to three stars. I will return for their great food and beer ... but not with a group, and definitely not between 5 and 6 on a weeknight. read more

Fun place in a cute shopping area. The restaurant itself is pretty large and the bar is long with a lot of seating, which is nice if you just want drinks and not take up a whole table. The vibe is "standard American-style restaurant." Nothing fancy. But at least it was clean. Yard House has a decent selection of beer on tap, wine and a full bar. I ordered a pinot noir that was not that great. I should have asked for a taste before I went for the whole glass. My friends and I were going to stay for one drink and wound up spending a few hours there. We ordered the chicken nachos. They were HUGE. Four of us did not finish one order. The service was spotty. At first our server seemed to be on top of it but then he disappeared. Maybe he went on break? So we had to flag down another bartender to help us. A friend and I just wanted some apps and drink the rest of our dinner :) The food here is good and I have to applaud the plating style. For an example, I ordered a spicy tuna roll and instead of the traditional small rolled cuts, you get something that sits in the middle of the plate in the shape of a cake. At first glance I was like?!? Then I shoved my fork into it for a taste and it was good! I adventured here after work for their happy hour as it looked like quite the line-up of drinks and food to try. I arrived with two friends around 5 PM on a Friday night and it was definitely filling up quickly. We were able to snag a booth. Parking is available in the parking garage. Our waitress was awesome and went through the menu with us for happy hour food. There's a huge selection of drinks and lots of beer to choose from. I opted for an IPA to start with, which was very citrusy, hoppy, and of course, refreshing. We split a large quantity of appetizers including: boneless wings, Poke Nachos, Ahi Sashimi, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Moo Shoo Egg Rolls, and the BBQ Chicken pizza. It was quite the line-up of food. I liked the Poke Nachos and the Ahi Sashimi the most of what we had to eat. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and wish it was closer to work. Gardein. Wings. This is what brings me back time and time again. And the garlic truffle fries (not pictured) with a side of their chipotle and garlic aioli. I'm a huge fan of the buffalo and bbq flavors. The wings are crispy, tender, and my meat-eating friends have been convinced that it's real meat!! There is no other restaurant/vendor that can compare, IMO. The last time I visited, I also enjoyed the salted watermelon margarita very much! Would highly recommend! Chicken lettuce wraps- I'm not a fan of lettuce wraps, so I guess this wasn't the best choice for me in the first place. These were good and flavorful, but not so much that we finished the plate. Side sauces complemented the dish well, though. Spicy tuna roll- really disappointed that this wasn't actually a roll. Instead, this was ahi tuna tartare without the nachos or wontons to come with it. Like am I supposed to just eat ahi tuna tartare by itself with no neutral carbs to calm the salty strong flavors? Overall, cool restaurant at the glen but with overpriced drinks and not so great food. I love this place! It feels like it should be in the city, but it's in good ol' Glenview and the fabulous Glen shopping area. Their list of beers is unbeatable and the food is so good. I had a salad with shrimp and it was phenomenal. Parking is easy and there is a good amount of space in the booths. I recommend coming here during the day for faster service. Oh, wow, but like...not in a good way. I was at Yardhouse with a friend of mine this afternoon. I can only describe what happened next as thinking I was on some kind of prank television show. Let's unpack this together. My friend arrived before me and got a seat, I sat after. They had already put their drink order in, and the server returned, offering us both only one water then told me they would be back to take my drink order. Ok, no big deal. When the server returned, I asked if they had any kind of "Ginger Ale" or "Ginger Beer" - knowing they serve a Moscow Mule, I was sure they did. The server then asked me the brand name, and i said sure, not thinking anything of it. When the server returned, there was a cranberry red drink in front of me in a pint glass. Two things wrong with this..1 - that is not the color of any ginger beer/ale I've ever had, and 2, I don't drink. The server left before I could ask what the drink was. My friend took a sniff, then a sip, and confirmed my suspicions that this was, in fact, not ginger beer/ale. When the server returned, I asked if there was alcohol in the drink, and she said yes. I said I was sorry but I think we had a miscommunication and asked again if they had anything like ginger ale, to which she said no (how the bartender can make a Moscow Mule without it, I don't know). I opted for a Diet Coke, and that was that...so I thought. The server then asked if I drank any of the drinks, and I said no, thinking it might end up on my bill otherwise. BUT NO! SHE GAVE THE DRINK THAT MY FRIEND TOOK A SLIGHT SIP OUT OF TO ANOTHER TABLE! We were too stunned to do anything! I am still MORTIFIED. Needless to say that made us question everything we ate and drank and we needed to leave ASAP. How do you give an OPEN DRINK that was on someones table to ANOTHER TABLE regardless of slippage????? Whaaaat??? Anyway, beware of what you eat/drink at Yardhouse in the Glen. Someone else might have already had a taste. read more

The happy hour menu looked really attractive & I went in hungry so we ordered poke nachos, korean boneless wings, and fried calamari. My friend loved poke nachos and I liked the korean boneless wings. Food was satisfying to our hungry stomach and the drinks were good. Everything, but the service was good. Our waitress was not the most friendly person. (Which isn't the explanation of loss of stars.) She checked in a lot, thanks to a slow day. But checking in too often such as when we just sat down to see if we were ready to order, coming back after 2 minutes & asking if we were ready. The food just arrived and she asked if thing were ok. My glass was 1/3 full and asking if I wanted another one. Still ok here, she's checking in to see if we're satisfied. This is where it's unacceptable. The waitress, without saying anything, drops off our check on the corner of our table as she is still walking. Doesn't say anything to us even as we make eye contact! If she didn't want to interrupt us, that's one thing, but she literally "dropped off" while she was walking and just looked at us. (My friend and I weren't talking so it was ok to say here's the check. We were both shocked of her such sneaky move.) We put our card on the bill, and again, she takes it while she's walking, and continues to walk away. She didn't stop at the table to drop it off or pick up the bill. There was no interaction between her and us after the bill was on our table. She picked up our bill without speaking to us, once again, dropping our credit card & receipt as she walks away from our table. And not a check in with us afterwards to clear the table or even a simple thank you. What happened to the lady that was checking in every other minute when we wanted to extra time? I literally experienced bipolar of service on same dining experience. I didn't even know that was possible! How awkward was it for us to leave!
