Fried Chicken Wings

We visited Yang's Kitchen for brunch due to its high rating. We went there on a rainy Sunday around 10:00 AM. The place was already packed. We put our name down on the waiting list. The waitress politely told us that they would only seat us once the whole party was present, which was reasonable. When the whole party arrived, they seated us within 10 minutes. Ambiance: 4 out of 5 stars. The ambiance of the place was modern and casual. Food: 4 out of 5 stars. The restaurant focuses on farm-to-table and local sourcing. We ordered all three shareables and a few other dishes: Cold Sesame Noodle: 3 out of 5 stars. Even though it seems to be highly rated, I didn't really taste anything special. Roasted Squash and Kale Salad: 3 out of 5 stars. The taste is decent. I wish we had more squash. Not that tasty. It is difficult with all that kale. Mochi Pancake: 5 out of 5. We all loved the pancake, the jam, and the cream. Fried Chicken Wings: 5 out of 5. It is marinated, flavorful, and not greasy. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Breakfast Plate with Hanger Steak: 5 out of 5. The steak is perfectly cooked. The egg was soft and fluffy. Value: 4 out of 5 stars. For $28, I wish we got a larger portion of hanger steak. Other than that, good value. Service: 5 out of 5.

Japanese Breakfast with Sausage Patty (Boiled Egg, Pickles, Japanese Sweet Potato, Multigrain Rice

First time trying Yang's Kitchen for brunch and the standout was definitely the cold sesame noodles. We added avocado, which gave it a nice richness against the creamy, nutty noodles. We also got the Japanese Breakfast with sausage patty, boiled egg, pickles, Japanese sweet potato, and multigrain rice. Simple, filling, and really well put together. I also appreciate that they list out the vendors they source from. It gives the whole place a thoughtful, farm to table type of feel.

Cold Sesame Noodles is yummy!!!

Their cold sesame noodle salad is delicious!!! Favorite item on their menu. The restaurant is clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. The food presentation is lovely and food comes out quickly. The background music offers a nice atmosphere to the already clean and bright environment.

Yang's Fried Chicken Wings

Hubby & I had high expectations for dinner, but we were not impressed by the flavors. Many of the dishes were lacking balance. Yang's fried chicken wings - this was a solid dish. Chicken was juicy. I usually don't eat chicken wings. Even after it got cold, the wings still tasted tender and not dry. Grilled Cabbage with Bagna Cauda - I do like a good cabbage dish, but the cabbage was under charred, way too greasy, & lacked acidity. After finishing the half portion of cabbage, it left an unpleasant after taste. Not a well balanced dish at all. Not my favorite dish. Maybe we should've gotten a simple salad instead. Dan Dan Campanelle - the dish came warm not hot. Good flavors and the Campanelle had a good chew, but not an exceptional dish. Hainan Fish Rice - I was so looking forward to this dish. The fish was cooked perfectly, but again lacking balance. The ginger oil is muted and purely decorative, lacking the sharp, sinus-clearing bite needed to wake up the dish. Without the bright, raw punch of ginger and chili, the dish tastes heavy and one-dimensional. I just wished there were more flavors and not just the taste of oil with each bite of fish and ginger. Good ingredients used, but just too heavy on the oil, too light on the aromatics. We didn't fully enjoy our meal as much as we would've liked. We might come back and try the brunch some day.

Honestly, so surprised to find a restaurant like this in the middle of Alhambra. Yang's Kitchen is a scratch kitchen that focuses on locally sourced, organic ingredients and sustainability. You can definitely taste the difference in the quality of food. For the appetizer, we really enjoyed the Chicken Liver Mousse. The house-made seasonal jam is so good (we just had strawberry) and pairs really well with the mousse. For brunch, we got the Grass-fed Hangar Steak Breakfast Plate which is an elevated version of your typical breakfast staples. Amazing flavor and they cook the steak perfectly every time. We also tried one of their seasonal desserts and it is a must-have. I forgot the name, but it was a melon sorbet paired with fresh mangoes, coconut milk, and sago. Super unique and refreshing. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for an upscale restaurant with a casual feel. Service is amazing, especially if you have Kai. We look forward to visiting again soon to try their dinner menu.

Yang's Set + Protein of choice: chicken

My friend & I visited Yang's Kitchen this past weekend & had a great brunch! We both ordered the Yang's Set w/ our choice of protein, everything was fresh & flavorful. I also got the Ruma Latte, which was delicious--sweet & tasted like caramel in a cup. We shared the mochi pancake after seeing it recommended on TikTok! It's was good but not life changing. We went close to opening, so the atmosphere was peaceful & cozy. The staff was kind & welcoming, though we did have to ask a few times for our table to be cleared. Since the two-person tables are small, a bit more attentiveness would've made the experience even better. Overall, great food, cozy vibes, & I'd definitely come back!

Yang's Kitchen is one of my fav brunch spots in the 626. They priotize sourcing local, high quality ingredients and it's apparent in every bite. My must orders are the hanger steak breakfast plate, lemon pepper chicken wings chicken, and chicken liver mousse. I also love their soft serve that they make with Straus milk! The ambiance is rather intimate but it does get really busy. Servers are very helpful with recommendations.

We came early for breakfast/brunch. There are only 3 outdoor tables (we brought a dog) so we didn't want to have to wait. All outdoor tables were rotatingly occupied with people with doggy, so much doggy love in dt Alhambra! The staffs were nice and friendly. Immediately offered doggy bowl for my golden & provided plate, bowl, tiny utensil for my toddler. Inside is nice, spacious, have great vibe & decor, and bathroom is clean. I got the set meal with chicken. Everything was tasty. Chimichurri not very strong and provided great flavor overall. My toddler likes simple but tasty flavors. The portion isn't overly big (normal eating size). We shared the mochi pancakes for the table. It's huge, thin, yummy. My toddler loves it. Great finger food for him & taste even better with the house-made whipped cream. Light, airy, and not overly sweet. Blueberry was plump and fresh. The hubby got the breakfast plate with hangar steak. The scrambled is soft scramble. Steak was nicely cooked, that's about the only thing I tried. He devoured everything else without sharing, so I'm guessing it was good. Our niece got the sesame noodles with chicken. It came in a big plate (probably because it's on the shareable menu). She immediately said it was good. So, pretty much you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Finally got to check Yang's Kitchen off my brunch list! The restaurant serves Asian fusion cuisine with fresh/locally-sourced ingredients in a bright and welcoming space. They don't take reservations for brunch, but they have a Yelp waitlist you can join ahead of time. There was only around a 15 min wait for us when we went on a Sunday for brunch. Service was friendly and attentive, and the dishes we tried were all delicious and thoughtfully prepared. - Cold sesame noodles - so yummy and flavorful! The sesame sauce was so good and nutty and the chili crisp added a nice extra kick. A big portion size so great for sharing too - Breakfast plate - comes with your choice of protein, so we got the grass-fed hanger steak. I love their take on the hash brown - it was hearty and thick with a delightfully crispy exterior - Cornmeal mochi pancake - was so excited to try this one! Loved the mochi texture with the cornmeal flavor, and it was not overly sweet or heavy. Very sharable! Parking: there's a nearby parking structure with free parking as well as an open parking lot directly behind the restaurant

I've been here before, but was told by my friend who comes here frequently because it's one of her favorite places that I had just ordered the wrong things. So I returned and deferred to her ordering, and so glad I did! We got the cold sesame noodles, squash and kale salad, and mochi pancake, and some sort of mushroom/egg dish. My favorites were the first two, all ingredients were super fresh and well seasoned/dressed. Go early as there's typically a wait.

Pork Jowl Cha Siu
Debbie W.

I'll be honest, this place didn't look that amazing from the photos but I'm so glad I gave it a try. It is a fusion restaurant between Asian and American breakfast and brunch, although it felt more Asian Italian fusion. We ordered: Cold crab noodles - it is cold but despite that, it has amazing flavor Dan dan noodles - 10/10 very flavorful. I love the el dente noodles and the peanut sauce was thick and coated the noodles well Pork jowl cha siu - 8/10 the sauce was delicious but a bit on the slaty side so went well with our cold crab noodles. The meat was very very tender and so good, but I just wished that half of it hadn't been fat. Secret potatoes - 10/10 very delicious. Highly recommend this as part of your order. I probably could've ordered a bowl for myself if I was still hungry The servers were very friendly and always made sure we were doing ok. They were helpful in helping us select from the menu and were attentive in taking away our dirty plates. Parking was too hard as there are parking areas behind the building as well as the structure across the street. They had a small outdoor seating area which was perfect as we had our dogs with us while we enjoyed the our meal.

steak and eggs
Tony Y.

Wow, this might be my favorite bite of the year. I fell in love with literally everything here. My two favorite dishes were the steak and eggs and the cornmeal mochi pancake. I don't usually get scrambled eggs, but this was so velvety and soft, it was heaven sent. the steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The pancake was also very pillowy and had an amazing chewy to it. No syrup is needed. Also, didn't leave here without mentioning the hash brown. it was also amazing, get one if you can! Service was phenomenal. The restaurant isn't necessarily the biggest, and a wait is to be expected. But boy, i can't stress enough how good the beer is.

Yang's Set Meal with Yuzu Miso Salmon
Darlene D.

Stopped by for brunch after having this place bookmarked for the longest. The wait wasn't too bad, I was able to join the waitlist before leaving the house, cutting my wait time down to 25mins when I arrived. I ordered the Breakfast Plate with the Grass-fed Hanger Steak as protein and a Yang's Set Meal with the Yuzu Miso Salmon. Both were mediocre, considering the price. Understandably, everything is sourced locally, but flavor wise didn't meet my expectations. The Breakfast Plate with Grass-fed Hanger Steak: The steak had a nice chimichurri sauce, but was extremely chewy. Wished everything was also salted a bit more, the entire dish was bland. The Yang's Set Meal with Yuzu Miso Salmon: The fish was seasoned well but for the price, I thought I would've had a slightly bigger piece. The rice was also on the harder side. Overall, I think it was still a good experience trying out this cute spot. Perhaps the dinner options would be better for me personally, will probably be back to give dinner a try.

My name is Carlos do you serve bottomless mimosas for brunch?

We do not serve bottomless mimosas. We do serve premium market mimosas made with seasonal citrus purchased from farmers markets!

Do they still sell the 4" tarts? Need to pre order?

We are not selling the tarts at the moment as The Hangry Bakery is on hiatus!

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

We usually set up 3 outdoor tables in front of our restaurant each day that we're open (weather permitting). Each outdoor table can seat 4-6 people. Unfortunately, it is not covered, but it can be heated.

Do you allow corkage?

Yes we do, it's $25 per bottle (standard size). We waive one standard corkage for each bottle you order off our wine or sake list!

Is outdoor seating still available?

Hi! Yes it is for brunch and dinner.

Do they have vegetarian or vegan options?

they offer a vegetable market plate ... not sure about vegan. best to give them a call to ask

Is your outdoor patio dog friendly?

Yes, the waitress was also nice enough to bring a doggy water bowl

Does the mochi pancakes have egg ingredients?

Yes, it contains eggs and butter.

Do you have outdoor dining?

Their description states that they have patio seating

Would you please consider bringing back more of the pre-covid menu? The scallion pancake wraps, seaweed soup, soft serve ice cream. Also from the covid menu -- tomato egg and chicken rice. We stopped by recently and really missed these. Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately, we don't have any imminent plans to bring back the previous menu items due to changes we needed to make to make our business model more viable. We hope you can understand and we hope that you can enjoy…

Do you offer takeout?

Thank you for your inquiry! Yes we do! In fact, you can order online and pickup at the restaurant…

Do they take reservations or have an online waitlist?

No, I don't think do. You order from the counter, get a number, and find a table. The seats are limited. A server will bring the food to you.

Do you have gluten free noodles?

We don't as of right now, but it is something we'll seriously consider in the near future! Thanks for asking!!

I also really liked that the sauces weren't overwhelmingly sweet, so the dessert didn't feel heavy or sugary. There were only couple of customers at that time, it wasn't busy at all. We started with two appetizer items first. Takoyaki had decent filling but they were so over fried. Seafood gyoza was decent though. Then we had their most popular dish, the mango premium soufflé pancakes. It took them almost half an hour to prepare the dish, which they notified us when we were ordering. The dish came with a towering soft pancake, half of an actual mango, some whipped cream, mango cream and a scoop of mango ice cream, all for a price of $18. I loved this dish so much, it's a dream dish for any mango lover. Staff members were friendly at the store. Despite not being busy, I saw multiple of them in the store, some working in the kitchen and others taking care of customers in dining area. Overall a really good place to try out some world class soufflé pancakes, with delicious sides.

tl;dr the dynamic fan tuan highlights a comforting array of Taiwanese breakfast fare…read more Huge Tree Pastry is a Monterey Park hole-in-the-wall with a surprisingly storied history. This family-run Taiwanese breakfast joint has been open since 1978 (originally under the moniker Yi Mei), and it weathered a fire in 2009 before rebuilding with a larger indoor space. The breakfast service is frequented by long-timers and Millennials alike. Across their menu, Huge Tree has become synonymous with their fan tuan -- a burrito-esque sticky rice roll decked with purple rice, pickled vegetables, salty pork floss, and a fried egg. This dish has been hyped up by critics from the Los Angeles Times to Time Out magazine. Huge Tree shares a two-story Monterey Park strip mall with a video shop and a travel agent, across the street from the Atlantic Times Square. The duplex unit is at the far end of the parking lot. Fluorescent lighting shines down upon the mostly undecorated, off-white room. The display case up front is filled with a mismatched assortment of Saran-wrapped baked goods and cooking ingredients. Wooden chairs are pressed up to Formica tables. The respectful din of chatter overwhelms the low hum of the industrial refrigerator. My fiancee and I visited for weekday breakfast and placed our order immediately. We opted for a Salty Fan Tuan, a Taiwanese Donut (You Tiao), and Sweet Soy Bean Milk. On the Saran-wrapped fan tuan, the tart pickles provided an excellent contrast to the salty pork, while the egg admittedly felt superfluous. The forearm-length, two-stripped you tiao "donut" was served warm; the flaky, savory pastry sported a flavor and texture that fell somewhere between wonton and churro. Lastly, the sweetened soy milk, pre-portioned into an unlabeled takeout coffee cup, paired perfectly with the rich, savory food. A moderate appetite can reasonably handle an entire fan tuan, but the you tiao and soy milk were the right portion for splitting. The hostess-waitress was bubbly and efficient; our soy milk and fan tuan arrived in the blink of an eye, and the you tiao landed just minutes later. Our cash-only bill ran $16 (after tax and tip), and we left without any about the food complaints. My only hesitation lies in Huge Tree's B-grade sanitary rating, which likely will keep me from becoming a regular customer. Otherwise, the food is satisfying even for a non-Taiwanese palate.

I liked the pics on Yelp and so finally got to try it for brunch this week, and boy is this place GOOD! Parking can be a drag even on a weekday mid-morning despite there being a good amount of parking spots on the entire block. That was a hassle. Once I found something, I went into the place, which is a small breakfast joint - not divey or anything, but also not particularly decorated. Didn't really matter though. The star for me were the pancakes. I got the blueberry pancakes, a side of bacon, a side of their breakfast potatoes, and a glass of fresh lemonade. The lemonade was good and clearly made fresh in-house, I think. The bacon was good, but bacon is always good. The potatoes were nicely seasoned, which was good because lately I've tried way too many breakfast places with bland, sad potatoes. Not here. The pancakes were amazing. They are super fresh and fluffy and served with an amazing cookie butter syrup. It may sound sweet, but it's not overly so. I honestly think these are some of the best pancakes I've had in many years in all of Los Angeles. They were honestly that good. And, I don't usually rave about pancakes very often. Service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The place was doing a good amount of business considering I went when most people should be in school or work and too early for lunch. It was the perfect amount of food to share amongst the three of us, so you don't have to each order an entree because the portion sizes are huge. The pancakes and fluffy and chewy, and the custard and macademia nuts on top made it not-too-sweet and creamy. The kalua pig was so tender and melt in your mouth--a little bit salty but balanced out with the rice and egg. My only qualm was the paper plates that they gave us started tearing kind of quickly the moment it absorbed any oil from the food, so I had a hole in the middle of my plate that you could see the table through for half of the meal. But the food and vibes were immaculate (all three of us loved it), so maybe I'll bring my own plates next time. We will definitely be back!

we went to aloha food factory in alhambra today around 9 am, and there was actually a good amount…read moreof people coming in for it to be that early! we made a pretty far drive, but thankfully we got to sit wherever we wanted. you order at the register, and they bring the food straight to your table. we ordered the macadamia nut pancakes, which came as a two-stack. they were SO good and filled both of us up, and we even had leftovers! they honestly live up to the hype, and you don't even need extra syrup because they're already that good. i would definitely come back just for these any day. we also got the zucchini fries, but they let us know their supplier was on strike, so they could only give us a small amount and replaced the rest with regular fries. the fries were super delicious, don't get me wrong, but we definitely wished we could've gotten more zucchini fries. no worries, though, because i understand these things happen, and we still enjoyed them! the servers were super nice, and the place itself felt really authentic. we also noticed a lot of people coming in and ordering bowls, so maybe next time we'll try their pork bowls! overall, definitely worth the drive, especially for the macadamia nut pancakes. would come back!
