Crunchy stuff on all 3 rolls

We did take out and ordered 4 different rolls and an avocado bomb. All 5 dishes had imitation crab in them. The Cali roll should be salmon and avocado on inside. The rainbow roll I can't recall but pretty sure not imitation crab either. Also they put 3 rolls in one take out which is fine, but almost all had the crunchy stuff on them. We only ordered 1 crunchy roll, very sloppy work. Prob won't be coming back. To owner: it was the fact that all 4 rolls had the crab in them (imitation crab). I doubt all 4 rolls come with imitation crab on menu. I've never had a rainbow roll or Cali with imitation crab before. Also I picked them up myself. I didn't flip it over or anything. There was enough crunch in that package for 10 rolls lol

Still one of my favorites! This is a solid sushi spot in south Austin. Generous portions, fresh sushi, and nice vibes. I still get take out here, probably monthly and have dined in on multiple occasions (by myself, with my family, and with friends). The service is always excellent and the meal always hits the spot. I highly recommend!

We came here last night for dinner and very much enjoyed it. We arrived around 635 without a reservation and got seated immediately, which was nice. The food was delicious! Five stars for the edamame as an appetizer, along with the dragon sushi roll. My fiancés bibimbap also was on point. I probably wouldn't get the beef teriyaki again though, as next time around I'd go with the bibimbap instead. Service was also very quick too. Overall, it was a good experience!

Great little restaurant with amazing food and service. I was greeted and seated quickly. My waiter was very friendly. I ordered the tempura appetizer and it was delicious. I also had a miso soup that was really good. My entree was the teriyaki steak and rice which was also delicious and lastly I had an order of tai sashimi and to my delight they had gochujang sauce that made it extremely good. This place is very nice with delicious food and great service. 9.5/10 for me

    Beef Bulgogi Bento Box*

My partner and I arrived at 11:15 AM and we're the 1st group in. They probably do a thorough cleaning in the morning because it definitely smelled like cleaning chemicals. The staff was welcoming and attentive. We ordered a chirashi bowl and beef bento box. The bento box ($15) comes with miso soup, salad, tempura, and 4 pieces of California roll. Definitely bang for your buck! It was so good. The sashimi pieces in the chirashi bowl ($19) was fresh, perfectly cut, and plentiful, There are many lunch combinations offered at a great price. We'll definitely be coming here more often.

Where have I been? Just now trying this place. Ordered a spider roll to go for lunch and it was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, packed with flavor and packaged well. I'll be back to dine in and order more food. I am happy when I find another sushi place in town to enjoy.

    Fantastic lunch specials!

The decor at Yanagi is pleasant enough, but it has a strip-mall feel and certainly doesn't match the superior level of the food served there. That said, the less-than-stellar decor may be what allows them to provide a wide variety of very good Japanese food at more-than-reasonable prices. I've eaten here many times, and my favorite appetizers are the Spicy Edamame (steamed edamame dressed with toasted, chopped garlic in a spicey sauce), Tuna (or Salmon) Tower, Tempura, and Agedashi Tofu (fried tofu with tempura sauce). I could honestly make a meal out of the appetizers! I usually share several appetizers and rolls with friends and leave full and happy. Yanagi does a brisk take out business and, if it's still available (couldn't locate it online), their lunch specials are unbelievable! Huge bento boxes with various choices of proteins, rice, salad, and I can't recall what else. Depending on the protein, in the $15-$20 range. So good!

The ambience is not super polished by that is not must for me with sushi. The soup and salad was brought out first at the same time. The soup was really tasted and had a lot going in on it compared to most miso soups you get. The salad was all the sad white parts of an iceberg lettuce head with a dressing that was more creamy than the soy/ginger orange one most sushi places have. The chirashi came out with the fish place directly on the rice rather than separately in a stacked serving box with the rice below and the sushi on a plate above that. Their yelp pics showed it presented like this in the past. Guess they ran out or loss those? The fish was really good with the tuna and salmon being the highlight. Nice thick cuts with really good tenderness and freshness. I will be going back again for the chirashi and super friendly service.

I'd like to say that it's an underappreciated gem, but to be frank, it's just okay. Perfectly okay, absolutely not bad, and nothing to get excited about one way or another. The ramen options are structured like a choose-your-own-adventure book, letting diners select their protein and then broth flavor from a list of eight each. For vegans, the sole option is the Vegetable Ramen with Creamy Vegan Broth. It delivers on the promise of vegetables, sporting close to a full crown of tender steamed broccoli, and the noodles are good, if not great. However, the broth falls flat, taking the overall bowl down with it. There's just no flavor at all, no umami, no zest, not even enough salt for proper seasoning. I hate to be harsh because it's done nothing wrong. I would simply never crave it, given the wealth of more compelling alternatives within reach. If you're going to go, and want to keep it vegan, get the basic veggie sushi. Cucumber and avocado were perfect; simple, fresh, abundant, and wrapped in perfectly cooked rice. It's a decent value too, definitely competitive with more upscale options. Service is fast, the people are kind, and it's a fine choice if you're nearby.

Thanks to reviews from fellow Yelpers like Steve W. and Samuel C., I felt confident suggesting Ling Wu to my friends and my girlfriend. I made a reservation for that Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, and by the time we arrived, the place was absolutely packed. There was a line of people waiting to be seated. I don't know if they were walk-ins or also had reservations, but thanks to ours, we were sat immediately with ease. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The interior of the building is beautiful, as is the patio with string lights and shrubbery. We sat inside, and the lowly lit atmosphere was excellent. All of the decor really makes the space feel cozy. Water is served in little mugs, and a paper mat is placed on the table because they know Austinites are messy. We all ordered drinks. Two people got a Kirin Light, one got a cocktail, and I ordered their mocktail Spritz. We also shared an appetizer of the Szechuan Spicy Cucumber, which arrived as an incredible tower of cucumber that was both fantastic and delicious. I lowkey ate half of the tower. My girlfriend ordered their soup dumplings, which were pretty good. Soup dumplings are not really my personal style, but everyone else at the table loved them. I was most excited for my entrée. I ordered the Orange Peel Akashi Beef with a side of brown rice, and honestly, it is some of the best Asian cuisine I've ever had. I've seen reviews complaining about the price point, but you can't compare a wagyu steak to Texas Roadhouse, and you can't compare a sit-down Asian restaurant to a Chinese buffet. This is clearly a step above. You don't have to fully dress the part, but this is practically fine dining. Top tier service, top tier atmosphere, and top tier food. This isn't a casual noodle shop, buddy. Overall, it's an excellent experience and definitely worth the steeper price tag. I recommend Ling Wu if you understand that sometimes you have to pay more for a higher quality meal. If you're not that type of person, grow up, because you're missing out on some of the best Asian food Austin has to offer. RIYL: A great meal with a great atmosphere
