I was Perusing my Mail at my Flatlands Residence when I came across a Flyer from Xfinity . It was an offer to Upgrade to the Xfinity Operating System from Digital Cable . I called Comcast and they informed me the Simplest way to Upgrade . Is to Bring my Old Cable Boxes in to a Comcast Service Center and Swap them up . The Comcast Service Center is in Oakland on E9TH Street . So I jumped into my Whip and Rolled Over there . I got quite Lucky !!! I rolled in and there was no line to Speak of. A Tech asked me what I needed ? He then logged my Old Boxes Back in . He went to their Storeroom and Returned with my Xfinity Start Up Kit with Refurbished Cable Boxes . I was in and Out in less then 15 Minutes . Good Service , No Wait Or Hassles . Cool Beans !!! read more

This store has implemented the best Covid -19 safety protocol I have seen since the beginning of the outbreak. They limit people in the store to one at a time. I LOVE that. Waiting outside, six feet apart were the others. I got to the store early and was first in line! I LOVE that too! When I got into the store I was greeted by Juan. Juan was fantastic! They said I need to go home, log into the account and buy from home. I pay the bill, bought the phones etc... but the account wasn't under my name and they wouldn't call the person to verify their account...where has customer service gone. 8 years ago, When AT&T Uversestarted to suck, I switched over to Xfinity. Now that everyone uses them in neighborhood, they suck. Total disappointment. Service and data surges galore. Constantly having to unplug the system to reboot. Don't expect any love from the supervisors....rebated and compensation are limited. Can't wait to cut cable......need a great ISP. I went there to exchange my wireless cable box because it broke. They had one but they couldn't give it to me because they said they cant account for it because its not in there inventory. I left without a box and the sales guy said to me complete the survey and give me a 10 come back next week it will be fixed. I come back today and same shit. Beeare Xfinity scam bots. We were trying to renegotiate our overpricec internet and cable service and were directed to converse with an on line customer "person ". They promised a better plan if we agreed to stay with Comcast. They ended up not charging less and provided a vague confirmation that did not actually give us anything. Very easy and quick return of a router. The business seems to be implementing COVID-19 prevention measures well, and service still felt personable despite social distancing. There were several different lines set up to ensure a fast experience (and less exposure to coronavirus) no matter what you might need. These ppl are liars and con artists.. you are better off sticking a wire coat hanger above your television for a rabbit's ears antenae. They will sell you a "package" of channels where there might be only three you actually watch, but have to pay for all the ones you don't watch. Then they will raise your rate behind your back and use the excuse that your "package" was only introductory. .. Their boxes are low quality. Their employees know nothing.. it took four technicians to set my basic box up. . And then they tried to charge me for FOUR BOXES AND FOUR VISITS!!!! When their cheap power cord broke I was lucky to have one of my own OTHERWISE they would have made me purchase a whole new box. Now they are updating everyone's boxes to WiFi. But if you don't want WiFi in your house, or can't have WiFi in your house because you have medical equipment... they don't seem to care. THEY DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THAT! So since I can't have WiFi in my house, my box lost most of it's features.. I was no longer able to record AND I lost all the movies and programs THAT I PAYED FOR! So when I called them and told them that I should not be charged the same amount now that I am not able to access these features... it took many many phone calls and demanding to talk to a supervisor.. when finally I got someone who told me they understood, and they offered me a $200 credit while they discussed how to bill my account. As if they never thought of the ppl WHO DO NOT WANT OR SIMPLY CANNOT HAVE WIFI!. So guess what these fucking assholes did? They tried charging me my full amount PLUS $200! 12/13 2:30pm went into the Oakland store and no one could help me pay my bill. They made me go to the kiosk after waiting in two separate lines. The kiosk would not take my credit card. Went back to the guy at the Helpdesk and he said to wait online again and take a number and they just are not helpful and do not know what they are doing. I was there 40 minutes and did not get a resolution. We are still hearing stories about how cord cutting costs more than cable TV; however, rarely do these stories include the hidden fees and taxes that are added to the advertised prices. So, today we are going to take a look at all 12 of the fees that you will find on Comcast's Triple Play packages. We are just looking at fees. Taxes are not included on this list and must be added on top of these fees. Remember: These fees change depending on where you live. Before we get started, I want to point out that before you sign up for Comcast's Xfinity service, they know what these fees will be. They could easily include these fees in the advertised price but do not to keep the advertised price low. Instead, they hide them in small text. Most companies just roll these fees into the cost of the product. For example, if I buy something imported from overseas the fees for customs are included in the final price. Cable hides fees and adds them to the advertised price. That is why we call them hidden fees. Here are the 12 fees you will find with Comcast Triple Play packages. (Some of these fees are for voice and Internet.) Also, credit to where credit is due: We did find a list of these fees posted on Philadelphia News & Opinion but noticed it was missing some fees like the HD Technology Fee, so we are posting our full list of Comcast fees. #1 Universal Connectivity Charge This fee is reportedly used by Comcast to help build out its network in low-income areas. According to Comcast, this fee: "is not government-mandated, but these costs are outside of our control and so are passed through to our customers." It's a fee Comcast controls and knows about but does not bundle into the advertised cost of the package. #2 Regulatory Recovery Fee This fee is for voice customers and goes to covering the costs imposed on Comcast by federal, state, and local governments. #3 Franchise Fee This is a fee that comes from when the city gives Comcast permission to operate in said city. To have the right to offer TV in your city Comcast pays your local city a fee. Comcast knows what this fee is because they rarely change but once every few years. For example, in Philadelphia, this fee was last renegotiated in 2015. So, Comcast could easily include this in the advertised price you see online. #4 Franchise Related Costs Comcast not only passes along the Franchise Fee to subscribers as second line but adds a third charge to your bill for related costs of being a franchise in your city. #5 FCC Regulatory Fee This fee goes to the FCC to help cover the operations of the FCC. This fee rarely changes and is the same nationwide. #6 911 Fee(s) This fee is on every phone line to fund your local 911 center. #7 Regional Sports Fees This is one of the newer fees that was added in 2015. Now that regional sports channel that they prominently sell to you as part of the advertised price also comes with an additional fee. Don't forget in many Comcast markets your regional sports channel is also owned by Comcast. #8 Broadcast TV Fee Local channels are some of the most expensive. To help hide the cost of them cable companies added a Broadcast TV fee in 2014. This is one more example of how they advertise your local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates being part of your package but hide the fact that they cost extra on top of the advertised price. #9 DVR Fee Want to DVR your shows? That is a fee on top of the advertised price. #10 Set Top Box Fee/Cable Card Fee Comcast has been rolling out digital cable across the United States and is now in most markets. This means you need to rent a box to watch even basic cable. You could get a device that uses a cable card, but Comcast also charges a small fee for that. #11 Cable Modem Rental Want Internet? If you don't buy your own modem you are paying a cable modem rental fee. We highly suggest you buy your own modem to avoid this fee. It costs a bit upfront but will save you money over time. #12 HD Technology Fee As best we can tell most Comcast Triple Play packages now include an HD Technology Fee. You can buy the basic locals-only SD package for example without the fee but most Comcast packages will charge you this. Especially if you get a DVR as part of your TV package. Went very recently around 5p during the week to return a modem. Got into a very short line a a table just outside the front door and was eventually directed to a table just inside the door to drop off the modem. Then I was directed to go to a counter to wait for someone to help me with the paperwork. That took a few minutes. When I got done, I was directed to follow lines on the floor and exit through a side door I've never used before. A lot of covid 19 precautions. read more

This store opens at 11am. I arrived a couple of minutes before my 11:15am appointment. There was already 15 people waiting inside and similar # people waiting in line outside. Only 2 store employees present, trying their best to help us. I was told to "have a seat and someone will help you." No idea how long I will have to wait. Oh, look, there's one more employee (he had to take a huge rolling garbage can outside before he could stand at the counter). I came here a week ago at 1pm and there were similar #s of customers waiting to be helped. So I made an appointment hoping to reduce my wait time. I have been jerked around by Comcast over and again. Each person I talk to tells me the last person didn't know what they were talking about. Bottom line nothing gets done. Nothing gets fixed and almost nothing runs as it should. Since virtually each representative tells me that the previous person did not know what they were talking about or misrepresented company policy I am forced to conclude that the company functions on incompetence or misrepresentation. The people at the store we're the most recent in that chin. Not helpful. Told me the tech that came out to my house last (3rd in a week) did not know what he was talking about. Also did not solve the problem. I guess this is how they treat you after thirty years of overpriced payments for poor service. So much for customer loyalty. read more

Only giving one star because zero is not an option. Comcast may be called xfinity now, but both are awful. They sign you up, drop the prices sharply, and only offer any "loyalty reward" after a great deal of time on hold, and bad information. I was offered one of these, and told about the new X1 boxes I could switch to for an additional two year commitment. Technical information was wrong on all counts, including, amazingly, the size of the box. They said equipment could be sent back using the prepaid return label sent in the box. No label. Agent 1 says that it will be sent in he mail. Agent 2 says there are no return labels, and I have to return the X1 gear to the comcast office, and gives me the address, across town. The office is closed on Sunday, the day we spoke. Many calls and hours on hold over two days to accomplish nothing. Requests at the start of each call to get a call back for a satisfaction survey. Said yes 5 times. Got zero calls back. Plus, you get to give your address, phone, and SSN to as many people as you talk to in these fruitless and annoying interactions. If you are considering comcast, just bang your head the wall for a few hours, then try satellite or fiber. Dreadful would be a big step up for comcast. read more

You guys have sent us a new router/modem, you've troubleshot over chat 4 times, and two different guys came to our apartment to check the connection and we still have inconsistent internet. They use the same electronic sign in system Apple uses and the person who signed me in made some mistake and I was only served after the reps got tired of looking at me. You know a businesses' service is sub par when they post a security guard at the door to protect the staff from angry customers. I think we all agree that Comcast is the devil, right? They are expensive, they have outages and the worst customer service on the planet. But this review is not for Comcast/Xfinity, but for this certain Xfinity store in the Fruitvale district in Oakland. I was surprised of the airy and spacious interior when I first walked in. Feels a bit like an Apple Store... especially, since you are greeted by a nice guy with a tablet in hand upon entering the store, who asks for your name. You can then see on some of the screens in the store when it will be your turn to talk to a service person. I was really lsurprised that I only had to wait five minutes on a Saturday afternoon. I was helped by a very nice and professional guy, his name was Milton. He exchanged my old tv box right away, told me excatly what I had to do when I came home and everything worked out really well. Wow, Comcast is terrible and this store may be the worst of it. I tried to return equipment they couldn't find on the account, and they refused to issue a proper receipt. Having had major problems getting Comcast to credit returned equipment, I know it would be foolish not to have a proper receipt. Manager said he doesn't sign anything, there's confidence for you and tells you all you need to know. I tried to return last night in Emeryville, but they closed BECAUSE THEIR COMCAST INTERNET WAS DOWN! By the grace of God, never again, Comcast!! I really want to say that my experience with Xfinity/Comcast was the best ever. I have been a customer for over 14 years. I went online to make an appointment at the 3070 East 9th St store in Oakland off Fruitvale Ave. My appointment was at 10am. When I arrived, the store wasn't opened yet and there were 6 people in line already. Upon opening their doors, a male employee came outside to greet us and called out my name. Evidently I was the only one that made an online appointment.....so I was brought to the front of the line. A lady checked me in and said that a Sales Consultant by the name of Tamara Gonzales was going to help me. She escorted me to her window and my experience with a company was never so good. Tamara was so personable and knowledgeable about everything and the best part knew how to cross sell other items. Tamara knew everything about products, plans and prices. Besides she was so nice. I was in and out out of there in NO time, with my new equipment . All the employees/staff at this location were happy and helpful. I do have to say that the District, Regional and Store Manager show all be proud at a job well done. They picked and hired the right employees as well as trained the well. All their efforts will pay off in both the short and long run. Please be sure to pat Tamara Gonzales on the back and tell her that a customer went out of his way to write this. Wow! I am sooooo sooooo happy I chose Comcast. My friend recommended this to me and they made an appointment for me super quickly. Aaron came out today (6/29/20) around 8am in the San Leandro area. He was right on time, very thorough, asked me some questions and explained to me what he would be doing. The best part was that I could get my coax outlet box placed anywhere! I see why their average rating is 2. I am just returning equipment and I have been waiting for an hour. They told me I can drop off without getting a receipt or wait for the agent so they can process the return and give me a receipt. It would be nice to have an express service for quick transactions but noooooo. I'll be glad when all this is over. I used Comcast aka Xfinity service for a couple of years and since I switched over to another cable internet provider, I can't believe I used this company for this long.
