Hey, Yelp! We need a ZERO or NEGATIVE stars option for this monopoly! Just moved to Chicago one month ago. Figured Comcast couldn't be any worse than Time Warner. WRONG!
Called up for service - couldn't get an appointment for a week. When the tech arrived, he sat out back in the alley for 30 minutes (by his account), calling our phone number (which we didn't even have yet - Comcast had just supplied it to him to give to us) and wondering why we didn't answer. Guess coming around to the front door didn't occur to him.
Got a box in the living room, no box in the bedroom, no box in the guest room. Still have to pay for the two bedroom services, however; even though the channels are pure torture to watch (how many local channels does a city really need???? -- how many insane ministers and disgruntled citizens can there be???? - GET A REAL JOB, FOLKS!)
Anyway, we have no Travel Channel, no BBC, no CMT, no WE, etc. etc. -- channels that were STANDARD down in podunk Cincy (and most were available on the box and off the box). And a host of the box channels I've had to "edit" out since they're just more of the same nonsense as the no-box channels.
So we get the first bill (even though my husband gave our credit card number to the service rep on the first call). It says we are "overdue" and a late fee has been added to the $300-plus bill. Well, we never received the first bill; we have no problem with paying about $285 (two months of the bundle package plus some extra installation requirements), but the late fee? No way! We peruse the bill; in spite of the warning that a late fee has been added, it's not on the line-item. So we call Comcast.
Five imbeciles, one and a half hours, and four disconnects later, we have finally been able to pay the bill -- just to get off the phone with them. They actually ARGUED with us that we didn't NEED to know the late fee... even though they couldn't tell us exactly what the late fee was! They couldn't see the line-item listing from the bill. What kind of company is that?! The last person finally said that she THOUGHT the late fee should be about $20. What a freaking joke.
And, to top it off, one of the imbeciles said she couldn't accept our credit card payment because her system crashed - she would transfer us to the auto-pay line; we were instead connected to imbecile number two. Two said there was nothing wrong with their system, but she couldn't get our AMEX card to "take - but she would transfer us to the auto-pay line; we were connected instead to imbecile number three. Three said she didn't know if they accepted AMEX or not (oh good grief) and didn't attempt to find out - but she would connect us to the auto-pay line. Guess what? We were connected to imbecile number four who said she was sorry for our delay and would we like to subscribe to the monthly Comcast tv guide? Oh lord. Four also couldn't get our AMEX card to take, so she transferred us to imbecile number five, who had no clue why my AMEX card, my husband's AMEX card, and our Mastercard wouldn't "take."
We tried to explain, again and again, that our cards were still linked to our home address in Cincy and that the system was probably rejecting them because of the differences in address and zip code; this is pretty standard operating procedure to avoid credit card theft, but none of them could get in through their thick heads. We suggested that they simply temporarily change our billing address to our old Cincy address, but they were adamant that they couldn't do that. So we finally, reluctantly, gave our debit card and lo and behold, that took. (No Skymiles for us.)
Can't wait to see what happens when we try to dump the "free" HBO and Cinemax in six months...
We can only hope that we get transferred again next year, to a place far far away from this mediocrity and downright frightful incompetence. I fear for the future.
