The condo I rent switched to Hipoint from Zentro for internet service. It's been downhill since. The entire year I had Zentro service, I may have had one or two very brief outages. In just one month with Hipoint, I'm on my third outage or speed so slow, I can't even stream. This is ridiculous especially when we were promised 1000 mbps. I did a speed test and it's only 5 mbps. A huge difference from what was promised. Their internet service is not worth it and if you have a choice for alternate provide, please do not choose Hipoint. You will get better service from someone else. read more

I did not know that my service provider at my condo had changed to HiPoint -it changed between the time. I purchased my condo and moved in - - and I was in a situation yesterday in which I needed wireless service the next day. I called Hipoint after 5 PM that day and spoke to Dhanya who told me that she couldn't confirm an appointment for the next morning but said she would call me today before 9 the morning and to confirm an appointment with the dispatch team. She called me today as promised and confirmed an appointment. The Internet service person came at noon today. Nazir was very kind and thorough and made sure that I had a network and a password before he left. In terms of service, there have been some struggles with HiPoint with regards to outages. However, their customer support has been fantastic and has made dealing with occassional outages far less frustrating. After a recent outage and confirming the pattern, they're coming out to fix the core issue for the outage with no prompting. This is after having worked to resolve the issues in under 24 hours in previous circumstances. No matter the time of day, they've done a great job at keeping the staff lined with people that do their best to help. Gokul, the support team member I spoke with after a recent outage issue, is a fantastic example. He was incredible patient, thorough, and positive as he walked me through possible resolutions for extremely slow internet speeds. Additionally, he followed up with me multiple times to verify whether a network configuration change resolved the problem. I could not have asked for a better support member to speak with. read more

I am giving Hamid from HiPoint a 5 star rating. He came to my home to address a printing problem and resolved it after a brief explanation by me. It turned out that it wasn't my printers, but the browser refusing to print an invoice statement for only a specific company I do business with. My other two printers had no problems printing invoices for my other accounts. He then told me to use my other browser and it printed the invoice the first browser would not! Hamid couldn't explain why the one browser would not print this particular's company's invoices and the other one would, but the problem was resolved. Our internet is frequently down or very slow. Yesterday our internet was down for HOURS. I think from about 6:30p-12:30a. I texted a few others on our floor in our building and they confirmed their internet was down as well. Our building requires all of us to use direct TV and internet from HiPoint. They say on their website to reach out via phone call to text. My husband texted twice and no reply. At all. We tried to call but it said there were 18 people before us. For several years I was a HiPOINT customer in Chicago. I never had any problems either signing up or cancelling with HiPoint, which I did today as I'm leaving the country. Everything was easy. I called today to cancel and I was connected with Siju the agent. He was outstanding. There was something about the way Siju carried himself. He is intelligent, extremely knowledgable and quick. He is an impeccable employee. We arranged the pick up date and times for the router and all cables through my building's management office. He immediately sent a confirmation. It was detailed to perfection. Off and on, I've been living out of the US for several years. It's a daunting task dealing with time differences. HiPoint takes calls 24/7. If I had an agent like Siju working for me, I would advance his level to supervisor. Many times what doesn't come with great training are people who genuinely transmit care for their company's customers. So often we get off the phone with an agent who just goes through the motions. Yesterday my internet was working fine and today is wasn't but thanks to Hargeet and Hamid at Hipoint, my internet access is fixed. This morning, when I called into Hipoint, I spoke with Hargeet who was extremely pleasant, professional and patient. We tried everything to get my internet working. After trying all sorts of solutions, Hargeet decided to dispatch Hamid, a Field Technician to my place. Within a short time, Hamid showed up. As it turns out, my computer's "Network Card Failed." Field Tech Hamid installed a temporary router and told me what to buy so I can keep my internet working with no interruptions. I did not have much downtime because Hargeet and Hamid were there to help me. Both guys were thoughtful, kind, patient, polite and extremely helpful. I am very thankful. I have used HiPoint for about 6 months and they have been the best service provider I have ever had. Incredibly easy to contact for customer service , the longest I have waited for a response to an email was 2 hours. Fair prices and excellent customer service means I will be a customer for years to come. I know sometimes going with a smaller company especially for something as crucial as Internet service can be questionable but, in the case of HiPoint they are head a shoulders about larger providers. read more

I'm not a technically inclined person so when I bought a new router and had trouble connecting it, I didn't deal with the manufacturer, I contacted HiPoint and asked that a tech come out and set it up because I knew something I did wasn't right; I wasn't getting more than 90 Mbps up/down. I usually get close to a gigbit up/down. I sent in an email and within fifteen minutes got a call. Reshmi was patient, explained things in a way I could understand, and within ten minutes I had my high speeds again. HiPoint has always come through - quickly, painlessly, and not once have I ever felt like they were just reading through a script. They know their stuff. read more

No stars. That's what I would give. The condo I rent in decided to switch to Hi-Point internet as a bulk contract and I felt I might as well go with their cable tv services since the whole building is being transferred over. Hi-Point uses DirecTV as their cable tv provider. Never used them but whatever, they'll start at a low rate so I'll go from there. They require a credit check in order to provide service or a certain rate to the person who is interested in cable or additional faster internet service so I filled out the form online via pdf (nothing handwritten) and all was submitted. I took the day off to be at home for the installation because I have a big dog and don't have the luxury of working from home during this time. I get a call around 3pm, (They had from 9am - 5pm to install by the way) and they say they can't run a credit check. so they ask for my Driver's License information. Weird but I give it to them because now the tech is in my apartment installing the internet service. They call back 30 minutes later and still can't get a credit report run. They are unable to do the cable installation. They recommend that I contact the credit bureau to make sure I did not put a freeze on my account. I call all 3 credit bureaus and none of them tell me that there is a freeze on my account information. I call HiPoint back and relay this information back to them. This time, I'm speaking with a different person who says maybe my credit was unacceptable and that's why I was denied service. So when I hang up, I check my credit score. It's in the 800s. At this point I call them back and ask that the form I filled out is shredded because now I don't trust why they wanted my SSN and driver's license to run a credit check that they claim they say is bad or cannot process. They said they don't personally have my form on hand, but will make a note to remove my information from their records....? It just seems really sketchy why they request all this information in the first place and why would they deny someone that is willing to pay for signing up for additional services? For now, I will be locking my credit searches because again, I am afraid my personal information is about to be compromised, all because I was forced to change my internet and cable tv service. read more

This company is completely unreliable and incompetent. I left work early to get home for a service visit tonight to increase my connection speed. Should've been a simple appointment, right? Nope! The technician spent 1.5 hours disconnecting my internet connection, left without saying a word, and it took over an hour to get any update from their support center. Oh, did I mention he left all the cables exposed in my closet? So now I have a mess and no internet connection. On top of that, this technician spent 3 hours here a few weeks ago for the same issue! I was told that a senior technician would have to come out and fix everything, so imagine my surprise when THE SAME guy shows up tonight. This is a company that doesn't follow through and employs technicians who leave in the middle of the job. I've been trying to upgrade my connection speeds for over 2 months to no avail. Since our building has moved to lowpoint, my internet is down once a week. Calling customer service is calling India and you can barely understand what they are saying. last week the internet was down on a friday from 6:00pm till the morning. today the internet has been down since 10:00 am with no resolution. I might have to end up going back to RCN since for 10 years I had RCN and it only went down once for about 15 minutes. They owe the building a discount for the poor service and lack of customer service. read more

In a nutshell: efficient high-speed internet, but day-to-day customer service could still use some work. After writing my first Yelp review, HiPoint reached out in an effort to fix the situation. Wish it didn't take a negative review to get that help, but HiPoint's owners did go above and beyond to make things right. Omer, the company's co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, called to talk through the issues I was having and then came out to check my equipment. Despite my protests that it was not my new Gigabit wi-fi router causing slow speeds, since I had followed the salesperson's instructions on what to buy...it was, in fact, mostly my router. (Does anyone still have an ethernet connection to their computer these days? Really?) Turns out the routers in my 250-unit building were all competing on the same channels, and that was the source of the slow internet. Omer recommended a couple even higher-grade routers that automatically search for the best available channel at a given time, which my previous router did not do. I ordered a router (Linksys Max-Stream AC2200), received it quickly through Amazon Prime, and Omer came back after-hours to set up. After set-up, the 2.4GHz band was still providing slower-than-expected service...but the 5GHz band works! (Don't tell anyone in my building or I'm liable to slow back down.) My Wi-Fi speeds are now faster than I usually need, and I'm assuming, if I had an ethernet connection, that those would be the promised 200/200. My recommendation for HiPoint remains -- day-to-day customer service needs some work. There are some long hold times and representatives that aren't able to quickly identify and solve problems. (Even from a sales perspective, I just sat on hold to confirm DirecTV rates, and when I finally got someone on the line, they said they'd need to have a specialist call me back.) I also recommend that they arm their salespeople with a list of recommended routers for those who don't want to rent. When you make your business on hooking up large buildings, the issue of competing signals should be something that's proactively addressed, rather than waiting for negative Yelp reviews. And yes...still need much more opportunity for evening and weekend customer service appointments. All that said, Omer went above and beyond to make sure things were made right with my internet, and now I'm getting great speeds at an efficient rate. read more

It has come to my attention that the text of my previous review was copied here inadvertently. Apologies--you can look at my previous reviews for context here. The reason I posted this update is because the owner of the company reached out to me again via message (photo below). From the photo, you can see that I messaged him about a year ago, with no reason, until he messaged me randomly about a year later--a bulk message, I expect--after I had moved or if the building. I hope this business realizes that there is a difference between bullying and making consumers aware of a poor service provider. That is what Yelp is for--for celebrating the good, and warning others about the bad. Last, for what it's worth, I was encouraged by multiple residents at my old condo building to update my reviews over time as service got worse and worse. These were "normal" residents--not the board members who were involved with HiPoint's contract. I wish HiPoint all the best and hope they can figure out a way to improve their services. Update: we have finally starting receiving better tv and internet service!! Unfortunately for HiPoint, it's not their service. I stand by my prior reviews: HiPoint is not a reliable service provider.
