Never got back on my inquiry after sending in a request for help with my laptop. Not sure if they are still in business.

My ISP tech came to install new internet service at my place. Because there are four stories, I wanted the wifi to be strong on all four levels and hardwire all my wifi extenders, but the ISP tech could not figure out why my network jack on the 4th floor wasn't active. He basically did what he could, but could not get the jack to work. I called ITGuy and explained my problem. This was not a hardware issue, but a network/cabling issue. George was able to quickly diagnose the problem, and ensured every jack on all four floors were active. Turns out the ISP tech didn't have the right equipment to verify that all pins were connected through my 4th floor jack. From there, he re-wired all of my wifi extenders through the jacks, moved my router to the tech box, and provide an 8 port switch. Now my internet is strong throughout the house. This was a home visit, and I was assured that I would not be charged for the estimate, and no charge would be made if he could not get the 4th floor jack active. We agreed that he could start the work instead of coming back. It did take 1.5+ hours to check all the jacks, move the equipment, and test everything. Plus he charged me for the 8 port switch. All in all, I was happy that he was able to fix my problem in a few hours while this has been an issue since the ISP was installed in early September. read more

I found ITGuy Solutions on Yelp, and have to echo everyone else's positive reviews here. Their high rating is well-deserved! My laptop wasn't turning on, so I took it to George at ITGuy. He diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and had the laptop back to me in TWO DAYS - faster than any other IT shop I've worked with. The problem was with my charger (off-brand chargers will kill your laptop! beware!), so he bought a new charger to test with my computer and then sold it to me at only a $5 markup. I consider this extremely fair since he bought it just to help diagnose my computer and he saved me a trip to the same store. Other places would try to put a huge mark-up on accessories like that, but they didn't. I know I'm an anomaly amongst a sea of great reviews, so I'll try to elaborate on what went wrong. I had an issue with my Bluetooth and usb driver not working about two months ago. When you fill out their drop-off form, they ask when you want your device back: same day, 3-5 days, or no rush ("we would appreciate any flexibility due to the current high demand"). I chose the last, after having a nice chat with one of the staff and sympathizing with their current situation. She told me that someone would get back to me the next day. No one called the next day, so I asked for an update a week later. A different staff told me that my laptop was fixed and needed a new keyboard. Sounded strange, as my keyboard was working fine prior, but I went ahead and returned to the shop to pick up my laptop. He says the Bluetooth is working fine, so I luckily checked it out before I left to see that: 1) the Bluetooth wasn't fixed, and 2) what about the usb driver? He fiddled with the laptop to no avail, murmuring that it was working just a few minutes ago, and took the laptop back to further look into it. I waited 3-4 weeks for an update. The wait was fruitless because I've never received a text/call from George or his team that didn't first have to be initiated by me. Were they actively looking into my issue throughout the month I provided them with? I don't know. But conveniently, they were ready for me to pick up my laptop after I contacted them once a month had passed. When the two alternative options of repair time are "same-day" and "3-5 days", I genuinely did not expect to wait a little over a month for an Amazon shopping list for a laptop that was the same as the day I turned it in for repair. Not to mention, my fully functioning keyboard of 2 years broke while in their hands. No explanation was given, they just told me to buy a new keyboard. Their resolution to my bigger problem was to buy a Bluetooth USB adapter to a usb driver that wasn't working. When I go to pick up my items, a staff tells me that they lost my charger. She initially offered no reparations, shrugged an apology, and left me pretty speechless as I walked back home. Afterwards, she messaged me saying that they'll order a new keyboard for me, but I would still have to pick it up at their location. By this point, I hate the 30-minute walk it takes for me to keep going back to this location. All this being said, it's /slightly/ harder for me to be mad when they ended up losing more money by the end of this exchange by paying for the charger and waiving my fees. However, this was a badly, badly managed case, and a huge waste of time on my part. Side note: George told me that several people took a look at the problem and couldn't repair it. I was in the headspace that I would have to buy a new laptop, but after 3 hours of searching for online advice, my laptop was completely fixed. All it took was deleting and reinstalling the disk drive... Tldr; waited over a month, they never informed me when they were "finished", they sent me a bunch of Amazon links in favor of repairing my laptop, and they managed to break my perfectly functioning keyboard and lose my charger. The up-side? Well, they had the common decency to buy me a new charger. read more

My old computer was having some problems so after another computer company was unable to diagnose the issue, I went to ITGuy. Although the computer eventually died, George was able to set me up on a loaner with my old hard drive, while I waited for the new computer to arrive. When it did arrive, George set it up and transferred the files from my old hard drive. All in all, he and his co-worker Manon did a great job, and they are highly recommended. read more

One Word - Superb! George and Allan are top notch. Super knowledgeable, enthusiastic, humble, patient and they speak conversationally, un-techy...which we so appreciate. Allan came and systematically eliminated variables that were causing a few of our networked computers to suddenly and unpredictably lose their internet connections. This was a critical problem since our Medical software is cloud-based. Not only did Allan listen in detail, like a doctor, to our symptoms and history of the problem, but he explained their possible causes and likely solutions. Thank goodness he was here to witness this unpredictable problem. He figured out a solution immediately! Is 64 5-star Yelp reviews too good to be true? Apparently not! George definitely deserves it. Technology decided to hate me during a particular week where I experienced computer, phone, and printer issues around the same time. The worst one was the computer because it wouldn't properly boot up, and I was at risk of losing many of my personal computer files. I unsuccessfully fixed my computer despite lots of Googling and trial and error steps taken, though I did start feeling like an IT person. I had given up hope of fixing it myself, and that's where George stepped in. From the moment I called to discuss my computer issue to when I received my computer back, it was an exceptional experience. I truly felt valued as a customer whether I decided to use his services or not. He was flexible, responsive, patient, honest, and went above and beyond. His shop was super far from me, and my desktop computer tower (yes, I know we're in the year 2017) was incredibly heavy. George was flexible and went out of his way to pick up and drop off my computer without charging a fee despite the distance and inconvenience. Files might get recovered through a standard method, which gets escalated to an advanced method if that fails. However, the price difference is $325. That's $325 that George could have easily charged me when he stumbled upon a roadblock to recovering my files but didn't. Whenever I reached out to him, he responded very quickly whether it was texting or calling. I'm definitely using George for future computer repairs and highly recommend him if you have any computer issues. I really wish more businesses were like this! As an added perk, he has a Yelp discount of 25% off computer services that you can use! Lesson learned though. Back up your files frequently. I had a computer emergency needing immediate attention. Since I am relatively new to Chicago, I did not have IT support resources here (making me panic even more). I made an appointment with Giscard to upgrade my wifi at home to get better signal / range. He first interviewed my needs over the phone. Then he sent me the equipment specs I needed to order (Amazon.com - I have a Prime membership). Finally he came when the parts arrived (2 days) and I was up and running within the hour! My wifi is now fast fast fast and double the range! And since I have Comcast Internet, he advised me (no extra charge) on how I could (legally and ethically) piggy-back wifi on any Comcast wifi modem I encounter. Awesome service. Great value. I needed to have my laptop service and after two years since I used their service, I thought why not give them another shot. All I can say, this time it was as different as night and day. For one thing, there was no interpersonal connection. It was cold and distant. Everything is done by text and their fields are limited in typing one's concerns about their laptop. I received a bill estimate and what was wrong and a recommendation of replacing my HHD card to a SSD card. But I thought it was a duplicate work order. No call tell me what was wrong with my laptop and not having the chance to ask for additional possible work. Then had to call their receptionist to find out the status. Only to find out that my laptop had been serviced and ready for pick up more than a week. When I opted for their delivery service, the manager forgot my case. He said he would return it ASAP, but I replied that next week would be fine. I didn't realize that I had to send him a text almost a week later to ask about my case. Yes, it was finally returned. And yes it's running a bit faster, but am still having some issues. But can work around those kinks, But I won't be using their services ever again. If you want personal attention in talking to a real rep, search for another IT business service. read more

I would first like to start off by saying WOW! I was a little apprehensive at first. However, I called the listed number and was finally connected to George. He informed me that his first availability wouldn't be until 7:30 pm and how he also works from home. He provided his home address and I dropped off both a personal and business laptops. George met me outside and I told him how my personal laptop had a mousr issue and how my business laptop had liquid damage. George provided me with a rough estimate for his services. I provided all of my contact information to him and left a complete stranger with my two laptops and tons of personal information, lol. George was/is very polite and helpful especially if you aren't tech savy like myself. George recommended that I buy an external hard drive to back up sensitive pictures and information. He told me which size to buy and recommended Mirco Center, near Elston and Diversey. After purchasing the item, I dropped it off to George who shortly afterwards was able to call me back with the exact issues in both laptops. George also backed up all of my personal information onto the new external hard drive which cost $75. George was able to locate a screen for $27.00 and discover how the pad on my personal laptop was damaged. I ask how much it would cost to repair and George was honest and told me since there wasn't any other damage to my laptop and asked if I was comfortable using a mouse? I said, "yes" and George said, "well use a mouse but it would cost more to repair the pad than buy to new laptop." George was HONEST!!!!!! In today's society it is so hard to find people of character, integrity and honesty. He couldn't simply lie and recommend I have him fix it and I would've listened. He recommended Mirco Center because he knew that would have better prices that the name brand retail stores. George always responded to my texts or call me within a reasonable time frame and fixed both laptops within a week and a half. So happy I found George who will forever be my go to tech guy! Things got off two a rocky start but George did everything he could to remedy the situation. Here's the full story. My laptop had issues with it's hard drive so I reached out to ITGuys to fix it. They reached out within a half hour. George told me seemed like I would need a new hard drive (I suspected as much) and gave me a quote for the the new hard drive and the installation, as well as the option to transfer stuff for my old hard drive. Everything seemed fine so we settled on a time when I could drop off my laptop. This is where the problem occurred, when you arrive at George's home office you need to call him and not knock on his door or text him, like I did. Once George found out about the situation he text me back and knocked off a percentage of the installation on my hard drive and the problem was resolved. They installed a $350 graphics card into our son's computer, and when we got it back, my son found that the computer wasn't working properly, and we soon found that Best Buy doesn't guarantee their work. I'd definitely hire George again. We were having a very difficult time getting our wifi to cover our entire apartment. Saw reviews on Yelp so decided to give a try. Wifi always weak in certain areas of condo (duplex down). Bought the Eero routers that were supposed to solve everything, couldn't get them to work any better than the Comcast router. After texting over a few pictures of our set up, George came over a saturday afternoon and checked everything out. Very deliberate, very thorough investigation of what was needed to fix. Long story short- one of the Eero routers had firmware that needed to be updated, and once that was done, he figured out the best places to place the router and extender. End result, were able to achieve full Wifi at every area in out place, upstairs and down and even on our outdoor patio. All in all about a hour, hour and a half. George helped me solve my computer issues, I was having a problem with my computer periodically glitching and lagging. I called IT Guy solluitions and received a personal visit and was informed I had no virus protection running and no firewalls. I was also shown all the updates my system was requiring and how it would improve my performance.
