I never leave negative reviews, but this was by far the most disappointing salon experience I've ever had.
I've been a client of Xiomara's on and off for years, and even when I wasn't personally seeing her, I continued recommending her to friends, family, and even my own clients because I truly trusted her work.
I drove over an hour to her new salon in downtown Boston, where gas was over $5 a gallon. I paid $88 for a wet haircut (no blow dry), left a $20 tip, and had to pay over $30 just to park because garage parking is essentially the only option nearby. After all of that time and money, I expected to leave feeling happy.
Before my appointment, I made it very clear that preserving my length was my number one priority. I showed multiple inspiration photos and repeatedly explained that I wanted long layers while keeping my length. My hair had taken me over three years to grow and was well past my butt. Instead, she cut it to around my belly button, and parts of the haircut are uneven.
What hurt me even more than the haircut was how my concerns were handled afterward. I reached out because I was genuinely heartbroken, but instead of showing compassion, every response focused on defending the haircut. I felt like my feelings didn't matter and that I was simply expected to accept the result because she believed nothing was wrong.
She offered for me to come back, but after that much length was already gone, there was nothing that could be done to restore it. Driving another hour, paying another $30+ for parking, and spending even more time and money just to be told the haircut was correct wasn't a realistic solution.
The response that really shocked me was when she ended the conversation by saying she would "consider this matter closed." After years of supporting her business and recommending friends, family, and even my own clients to her, that response felt incredibly cold and dismissive.
As a small business owner myself, I know that standing behind your work is important. But customer service is just as important. Sometimes people leave unhappy, and how you respond in those moments says a lot about you. I wasn't expecting miracles or my hair to somehow be put back. I simply hoped for compassion, accountability, and understanding. Instead, I was made to feel like I should just accept the haircut and move on.
I'm attaching screenshots of our conversation so people can read exactly how everything was handled and form their own opinion. More photos of our conversation are on my google review.
Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more
