I wish I could clone Wright Lighting and Fireside. How many companies actually do what they say they can? And in a timely manner? After contacting 5 or 6 other companies for a new gas insert, only to be told to send photos and never hearing back, Anthony came to our rescue. On October 11, Anthony (President of Wright Lighting and Fireside) came to measure, telling us that we had an unusual size firebox but he'd do his best to find a solution. He provided two options where stock was available (a result of our pandemic times) and at different price points. One month later, on November 11, our insert installed. Anthony was well organized and clearly knew what he was doing. Even though he was up on the roof and in the chimney and back into the house numerous times, he left not one tiny bit of soot or mud anywhere. I originally bought two fireplace inserts at another company in San Jose (who shall remain nameless) that installed them a couple of years ago. Both inserts had quit working, so I tried to get them to come service them. After two months of trying to get them to even call me back, I gave up and contacted Wright. Anthony made and appointment with me and came out the FOLLOWING DAY. He provided a written estimate for both fireplaces and then repaired the curved fireplace in my office during the initial visit and ordered parts for my living room fireplace insert. Anthony also provided an upgrade option for my office fireplace that would improve it substantially. I was in need of a couple ceiling fans and wanted to support a local business rather than a large chain. I came across Wright Lighting and decided to give them a try. I dealt with Ramon, who was patient and kind and gave me a couple catalogues of fans to sort through since they didn't have anything in store that I was looking for. He answered my questions and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. When it came time to order, he placed my order by sending me an invoice via email and i paid the balance via phone. He told me the fans would be arriving within a week and a half to the store. That time came and went and I called in to get an update. I was informed by another associate that they had been backordered to October (I ordered the first week of August, so expected them mid-August). Now, let me be clear that I understand that the manufacturer pushed the time out due to a lack of supply. I do not fault them on this at all. The fact that I was calling into Wright lighting to get an update instead of being notified about the delay was frustrating to say the least. When I asked how such a discrepancy could occur I was given an answer of I'm not sure what happened. And there was never any future follow up on how I went from arriving in 1.5 weeks to delayed almost 2 months. Or why I wasn't notified. Or even an apology. Just a "this is happening to lots of people." I'm not saying I deserve special treatment, I'm just saying that information would have swayed my decision to order something else other than what I did had I known. I never received any other information until our order did arrive (a couple weeks ahead of anticipated October delivery). Their pickup however, is seamless. I went in, told them my name and order and they had an associate wheel it to my vehicle and load. Everything was as ordered. This was fantastic. Wish every pick up for a product was as easy. I'm not saying don't go here. I do want businesses like this to survive and thrive, but I was quite disappointed that such a critical issue regarding our order was not communicated and delayed our fans in a time where our AC was also backordered due to supply and we really were relying on these fans to help us beat the summer heat. A contractor installed our fire pit with a battery powered electronic ignition a few years ago that kept causing issues every year. It would simply not work, or work in a very flaky way (couldn't turn off, couldn't turn on, intensity would change by itself, just overall weirdness). Anthony from Wright Lighting and Fireside came this year and finally shed light on the problems: the controller was mounted too close to the burner and caused malfunctions. He also identified that the fire pit also didn't have proper vents on the side. Anthony proposed 3 solutions: 1) fully electric (most expensive since it required some trenching to bring power) 2) battery/electronic 3) completely manual. I decided to go with the manual option and I'm thoroughly satisfied. The gas valve allows for very fine grain control of intensity (we didn't have that with the fancy electronic ignition). Where I live, it is absolutely impossible to get any sort of contractor to come out to fix anything, without paying an arm and a leg and waiting for months. Or, being told I need to spend thousands for a whole new something-or-other (in this instance, a fireplace insert). It even cost 350 to auger a toilet, for god's sake, just for reference. Keep in mind that an auger costs 10 bucks at the hardware store and takes 5 minutes. Maddening. So, when I found Wright Lighting and Fireside via yelp, I was skeptical. How was it possible that they could come out within a week to fix my old, broken gas fireplace insert? And, why were they so responsive all the time? How was it possible that Anthony replied to my email within a day? Every single time. It seemed shady! But, I noticed that they had a high end shop and had been in business since 1950 or so. Plus, no one else was jumping at the chance to fix my fireplace. So, I took a chance and had Anthony come out to fix my fireplace. He stayed for 2.5 hours, was super pleasant and professional, and even vacuumed my entire fireplace and nearby floor when he was done! Not only that, he didn't upsell me on anything, and in fact, when he ran into a couple of problems with my unit, he fixed them without charging me extra! The quote I got was exactly what I paid, and now I am a happy camper with a fireplace (that no one else would fix, mind you) that actually works!
