I could not be happier with my dealings with Interiors and Textiles of Palo Alto. They provided us with gorgeous carpeting for two floors of our house. Their price was more than 10% less than the Floor Store for the same product and the service was superb. They did the moving of furniture for an extremely reasonable cost and were efficient and courteous throughout the installation. Fred Wee was always straightforward and honest in describing products, timelines, and policies. We purchased both hard wood flooring and carpet from Interiors & Textiles, at the recommendation of our contractor. The carpet we purchased was not cheap (cost about the same as hard wood) and after installation has a terrible smell and is still off-gassing more than 1.5 years after installation, despite airing out the room almost continuously and paying to have the carpet thoroughly steam-cleaned twice. We contacted Interiors & Textiles by phone and email 6 months after installation to ask for help remedying the situation, and they never responded. We are now going to have to rip out the carpet because the smell is still so bad that it makes the room unusable except when the windows can be fully open. I will never use their services again. read more

I wanted to leave a poor review for this business for a while (and mine will be the second since October, looks like it!) but I managed to get a hold of myself. Until now. We purchased 3 Hunter-Douglas PowerView honeycomb shades (meaning equipped with electric motors, two battery-operated models, one plugged-in model) from Fred Wee at Interiors & Textiles in 2017. Before doing so we had asked for another quote from a store in Sunnyvale, which ended up being cheaper. However, Wee sold us with his so-called fancy Palo Alto "Diamond Customer Service", meaning in-essence his store was in a higher-tier of Hunter-Douglas resellers with better customer support and perks. Or whatever. All of our shades failed after a year or so and had to be sent back to Hunter-Douglas. All 3 of them. Motor issues. Antenna issues. App and Internet hub control issues. WiFi repeaters that never did anything. Poorly-designed remotes with tiny buttons that don't even hold their batteries in place, hence random losses of power of the units. How hard is that to do? Actually, I forgot to mention all 3 remotes had to be replaced also; after a while their buttons start blinking stupidly when you press on them and nothing happens. Manufacturing defect. But all of this is more the fault of Hunter-Douglas than Wee's. Anyway, one of our shades (most expensive one, plugged-in) just failed for the 4th time! It doesn't respond to its the remote control, and the physical reset button (of the shade) is not doing anything as it appears to be stuck and doesn't move (poor craftsmanship). Did I mention mold all over the window-facing side? Yuck. I e-mailed Wee directly and he is completely unresponsive on the matter. I therefore logged a support request with Hunter-Douglas who in turn contacted him to ask him to assist us, no reply either. Very professional! Yelp won't let me attach a screenshot of their response to me, however I'm posting the text of their e-mail at the end of this review. I'll add that every time we had to ship back a shade WE had to bring it to Wee so he could pack and send it (at our expense!), taking one hour minimum from work for the round-trip to/from his store, which is 6 miles from our house, so an easy trip for him or one of his minions, who I'm sure have install jobs in our area every single day. And I'm not including OUR time to uninstall the shade, having no shade for weeks (had to buy temporary paper shades at Lowe's otherwise hello 6am sunshine), then our time again to go back to pick up the shade and install it again. That has always been ALL ON US. Not once did he offer to pick up/drop back the shades. Not once did he offer to come and troubleshoot our issues, to ensure that the shades were definitely not fixable on-site and that the only way to repair them was to send them back to Hunter-Douglas, which is, obviously, a major inconvenient and a last-resort thing. Not once did he show an ounce of empathy about our problem. So much for his fantastic Diamond Customer Support! And that's after giving him $4k of our hard-earned money for this horrible product from Hunter-Douglas, promising control via Alexa - a feature that never worked due to their ridiculously poor software (their in-house app never worked properly either). Because of Wee ghosting me, this time I've worked directly with Hunter-Douglas after doing some troubleshooting and they will send me the part which I think has failed on our shade (they normally don't do it for this type of electronic board); hopefully I'll be able to replace it easily and won't have to send the shade back a 4th time (on my own). I will never buy from this store again and advise friends and family members to stay away. Thank you for making us waste our time due to your non-existent "Diamond Customer Support", Fred Wee. You're a fraud and now Hunter-Douglas knows about it, I hope they investigate you and ban you from their approved resellers pool. To avoid this bad review, you just had to reply to the e-mail I sent you 9 days ago asking for your help but you chose not to, and you had another chance with the follow-up I sent 6 days later because I hadn't heard back. After searching around and doing a lot of shopping and price comparison, T&I wasn't the cheapest (though they were close!) but the customer service was absolutely top-notch, and that was well worth the few extra dollars compared to a chain discount store. Friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to discuss and explain differences without and upselling other than to explain differences when asked. Fred was always happy to answer my questions and make sure things were going as I wanted. We had our second kitchen flood this past summer - suffice it to say, we were pretty familiar with the entire process in terms of dealing with insurance and finding vendors (again). We were not entirely impressed with our first floor vendor (salesperson was great but the contractors they used were not) so I was more careful this time around about which vendors we used. We have Lauzon solid hardwood & I stumbled upon Interiors & Textiles because it was listed as a preferred retailer on the Lauzon website. After some comparisons, we decided to move forward with Fred and I'm glad we did! From the beginning, Fred was very responsive and addressed all of our issues/concerns - especially relating to our subfloor & wood acclimation as they were not properly addressed when we replaced our floor 3 years ago. His install team (Marvin & Alfred) was awesome - very courteous and really took their time to make sure the job is done right! Afterwards, Fred took the time to follow-up and made sure we were satisfied with the project. I hope we never have to do this again (because it is NOT fun!) - but if we do, I definitely will have Fred take care of ALL of our flooring needs in the future! read more

Interiors & Textiles is a middleman that uses subcontractors to install flooring. In our case, even though they are an authorized dealer for Lauzon Flooring, Fred's subcontractor did not install the flooring to Lauzon's specification. As a result, upon our floor being installed in November 2020, Fred agreed there were deficiencies in the installation. We scheduled a date for the subcontractor to return but they were a no show. Eventually, the crew came back, but 5 months later in April 2021. When we then indicated we were still not satisfied with the work, Fred stopped responding to us. Fred uses a subcontractor (Distinctive Hardwood Floors) and pointed the finger at them when we had issues. So we had to not only deal with Fred but also with a subcontractor. This was not pleasant at all. The lesson I learned working with this company is next time to deal directly with the contractor doing the work, not with a middleman like Interiors & Textiles even if they have a fancy showroom. I recommend you first find a reputable contractor to install the flooring, don't let a middleman select your contractor. read more

We've worked with Interiors & Textiles for years on window coverings that are matched to our needs (light filtering, light blocking, energy savings, etc.) and have found them expert in getting it done and done right. Recently we added four new motorized shades to the 20+ that I&T installed (a skylight shade install was particularly challenging). These worked out so well, we have started converting manual shades around the house to motorized, and I&T not only got the right materials, but also worked out the magic to get the "automations" and the remote controls set up just right. If only I could give negative stars! I purchased a home, and needed window coverings. Two windows needed to be covered immediately because people outside could see into my bathroom and kitchen; the rest could wait. I went in here one afternoon, had a good vibe, and agreed to let Robert come out to measure our windows. I booked an appointment for Friday morning. Robert never showed. I called a half hour after my appointment was to have begun, and was told that he had written my appointment down in the wrong place. He said that he couldn't move anyone else's appointment to accommodate his mistake, but that he could come back at 5pm. He was late for the second appointment at 5pm. When he did get here, he focused all of his attention on the one window that I wasn't interested in covering immediately. Then he glanced at his watch and realised that he probably had other places to be on a Friday evening, so rushed through the rest of the windows, including the ones that I most needed covered. I ordered blinds from him anyway. I figured that measuring a window isn't a big deal, and that ordering blinds isn't a big deal. Oh, how naive. I paid half up-front. It took another week for him to call back because he couldn't get all of the options together that I wanted. Really, it took a week to figure that out? After the blinds finally arrived, I paid the other half of their cost. I got them home and started to install them. One set of blinds was too short by about three inches. The second set of blinds was also too short, and there was a manufacturing error that caused them to be hung on a diagonal. I took them back. Robert wasn't in, but the other staff were extremely apologetic and said that they'd send them back to the factory to be fixed. I was clear about both the length issue and the mis-hanging issue (even emailing afterwards to confirm the correct length for the blinds), and they said that it should be an easy repair. After waiting a month, I called and found out that the replacement blinds had been waiting in their store for several days. Thanks for calling to let us know! When I installed them again, the mis-hanging issue was fixed, but the length issue wasn't. They were still the exact same length. The sticker on the package from the factory noted their specifications, which was the too-short length from all along. I took them back in yet again. Robert wasn't in again. This time, the other staff told me that they weren't sure if they could get the blinds because the colour that I'd selected had been discontinued, but that I'd have to wait for Robert to call. He did, a week later, leaving a message stating that he'd refund my deposit. My deposit? What about the rest? I went back into the store, hoping to catch him in person since I haven't actually talked to him in person, but was unsuccessful again. The other staff said that they couldn't help, that only Robert could do it. Two weeks later, without communicating with me in any way, both charges were refunded. If it had just been the first manufacturing error, I wouldn't have been upset. Manufacturing errors happen. However, when they do happen, I expect the local vendor to deal with the problem and communicate to me what is happening. read more

When we were ready to replace it, I contacted Fred because we were so pleased with the work he did three years ago replacing the hard surface floors in a few of our rooms. Fred guided us through the selection process and responded quickly to our many questions. His showroom is extensive and I was comfortable visiting it during the pandemic. When we wanted to see a larger carpet sample, Fred was able to get it for us quickly from the manufacturer. I had them clean the carpet anyways, but then we found out we were expecting and needed new carpet asap! During installation I noticed that one of the coverings was damaged on the bottom, 3 had errors in the threading and 3 of the wands were not secure because they were drilled to large. We worked with Jaye and she made sure to get us replacements for everything very quickly. I have worked with Fred from Interiors & Textiles a year ago on multi room installation of hunter Douglas shades - 15 in total. It started innocent enough, with me visiting few stores selling blinds in the area. Out of those Interiors & Textiles was a 3rd one. I'm picky, maybe a bit too much :) I like to check out the stuff I will be able to buy, compare, think things through - especially for something that expensive. I remember being pleasantly surprised by the service that Fred offered - he would answer my question, but wouldn't be pushy at all, which I liked. After some time (I think I visited twice before that happened), Fred come over on his day off (!) to do a walk through my house, do measurements - and show me catalog of blinds in person, that allowed me to compare colors to my walls etc. I still wasn't sure what I wanted and Fred agreed to leave catalog with me till the next day (I'm told this is not standard practice, so I'm very thankful :) ). Eventually I signed purchase order. Blinds came, installation happened. Unfortunately I made a mistake - what I thought was bottom-up blinds is really top-down, so 6 of them ended up being different then what I expected :( While I had to pay extra to get this fixed (it was my error after all), it was just a fraction of the cost of blinds and the whole process was painless. After few weeks of enjoying new blinds (I have them linked to Alex'a, so I can open them up when I wake up just by talking and close them when going to bed, pretty awesome), I have noticed one of them having tape where it shouldn't have been. After closer inspection it turned out 3 of my blinds had tape like that and one of them ended up being slightly damaged (tape stuck to the blind, pulling some material off with it). To my surprise all 3 of them were replaced at no cost to me - while only one was damaged and only slightly! Hope this review helps others. If i can give 5 minus star, i would. We hired this vendor on 7/4/20 to install Kahr HW floor at our house for $35,535 and paid $26,650 deposit. I repeated told the vendor we want the job to finish by 8/13/20 school starts and the vendor said no problem. The job started on 7/30/20 and come to an abrupt stop on 8/10/20 due to the vendor short order of all required materials *8 boxes of HW, 2 stair nose, 21 feet reducer, and 5 piece of T moldings). Keep in mind he came and did the measurement before the contract and guaranteed that he will order enough material, and also put in writing that the HW is in stock at the distributor and he can order and get it within 1 day. He try to blame on the 16 planks of HW that has defects from the original order, but that is not the case as there was not enough wood to finish 2 landings and 4 flights of stairs. The saga continues when he reorder the material, he said it will take 4 weeks before the new material to show up due to Covid. The install restarted on 9/11/20 only to stop AGAIN on the same day when the installer and us both notice the stairnoses color and texture do not match the HW floor that is specified in the contract. From this point on, the vendor agreed in writing there is a problem with the quality, but does nothing but blaming distributor and the 3rd party vendor they use to make the stairnose. and with no ETA on when this will be resolved and when to finish the job. His standard and only answer is that "i follow up daily, and haven't heard anything so nothing i can do". Since there is no concrete plan/ETA to have the replacement material ready to finish the job, i proposed whether he can use HW Plank on the stairs and paint to match the HW floor color. He said he cannot do that as that is not in the contract. And propose we pay for the incomplete job and we can ask and pay someone else to finish the job. Why should customer pay for a incomplete job and pay in addition to finish the job?? He then said the contract did not say when he need to finish the job so he is not violating the contract. It has been over 3 months since the contract signed and we are left with a house missing 2 landings and 4 flight of stairs without cover and there is absolutely no commitment from him on when the job will finish. Anyhow, you get the drift. If you want someone only cares about taking your money, and pass on all the issues, and leaving the customer hanging with incomplete jobs, then go with them. One more thing, if you read this and still want to go with them, please make sure: 1) in the contract to stipulate must completion by date; 2) do not pay majority in deposit, pay less than 40% in initial payment as you will have problems; 3) be ready to deal with all these issue and get yourself a lawyer and go to court as last resort. read more

Gosh. Same experience here. It took them 4 months to get it right. New house and I wanted things done right so I got Robbyn to come out and measure up. Even with 'professional measuring and installation' they screwed up so many times it actually became laughable. They forgot to measure half the carpet, measured the windows incorrectly, ordered the wrong valances (left hand instead of right), wrong length... the second installer (the first one was so rude we refused to have him back) had to saw down valances that were FEET too long..... I've used Interiors & Textiles on several different occasions to reupholster antiques. I have found the quality of the workmanship to be excellent and the choice of fabrics better than any of the other upholstery shops in the area. I made the mistake of taking two stuffed chairs to an different shop (Jensen I think) and the work was terrible. My most recent re-upholstery job was with Robert - the chairs turned out beautifully, but I found him to be less than helpful. He isn't there anymore. I just went in with two more old family heirloom chairs and Shari helped me. She is great -- friendly, and is helping me keep costs down without sacrificing quality. read more

The installation went smoothly and I am pleased with the Hunter Douglas product. However, they billed my account for $300 more than they quoted without explanation, apologies OR AUTHORIZATION! When confronted, their accommodation was that they would give me a $300 credit on a future Hunter Douglas purchase. Needless to say, there will not be another purchase of any kind. I do not feel I could trust them with a credit card number again. I would be better off handing my wallet off to street gypsies! read more

I believe these folks really have their act together. Buying blinds/shades is always iffy because slight screw-ups in measurement or installation can ruin the whole look. I was abit concerned about Interiors & Textiles because some of the older reviews (circa 2008) were pretty negative. Apparently there has been a complete turnover in staff since then, and the newer reviews reflect this. Here is what they did for me. 1. I was not sure exactly what I wanted, so I dropped by the shop to look. The owner (Fred) showed me the basic options and then offered to come to the store on his day off to accommodate the schedule of my designer friend. We finally settled on something I had not seen before -- Hunter-Douglas gliding window panels. 2. Fred came out the next day to do the measurements himself ... this consultation was free. 3. Fred quoted me the same day & added quotes for two other options I had considered, just in case I wanted to change my mind. 4. Production was at the HD NC plant ... and I was emailed production status (the whole process took maybe 2 weeks). When the plant slipped the ship date by a week, Fred called them and we got pretty much back on the original schedule. 5. I was emailed when the panels arrived and made an appointment for the installer to come out later in the week. 6. The installer arrived promptly (actually 20 minutes early) & finished the job in about an hour. The panels looks great and the measurements were perfect. 7. This was my first time ever buying any kind of window coverings. Shari was patient, courteous, and knowledgeable in helping me select the appropriate shades. What helped put the 5th star on this review was that she made a special trip on Sunday to measure my windows since my weekday schedule was not available, even though they are nominally closed for business on Sundays! Mark the installer arrived on time as scheduled and did an excellent job installing all the shades (which fit nicely). He was also very patient and courteous - contributing to the 5th star. I strongly urge anyone reading the negative service reviews to ignore them; plenty of companies have employees that make mistakes, but what counts is a manager/owner that makes things right and Interiors & Textiles has this! I purchased carpeting and installation this past summer, and got just the right amount of attention during the decision-making process: prompt assistance, good advice, and flexibility - WITHOUT being hounded by annoying high-pressure sales tactics. There was an issue with the delivery, through no fault of Interiors & Textiles (factory/supplier error) but they took full ownership of the issue and bent over backwards to work around the problem so as to get the installation done to meet my schedule needs; management was involved and communicative throughout the whole process. Interiors and Textiles did a great job in helping us select carpets, shades and drapes about three years ago. Working with their designer Shari was a real pleasure and the result was beautiful. But three years later the bedroom carpet started to stretch and pucker in spots. Despite the extremely busy holiday season their installation manager Sally managed to fit us in and her two carpet installers Marvin and Caleb showed up exactly on time today. They were extremely pleasant and professional. In a little over an hour they moved furniture, reinstalled a portion of the carpet, made some repairs and replaced all the furniture. Outstanding.
