I contacted Duke about wiring and installation of 3 fans. Of the 4 different electrical contractors that we contacted he was the most responsive and understood exactly what we needed, even though I sent the same message via Yelp to the other contractors. His pricing was similar to the others and he understood that I didn't want any drywall damage. The others could or would not accomodate this request. He was flexible about the day and time for installation and worked around remote work meetings schedules and separate fan delivery from Home Depot. He was able come by on a Friday and his crew were able to pre wire in everything in a couple of hours without any holes in the drywall by pulling the wire through the existing conduit. The fans arrived the next day on Saturday and he was able to again accomodate the remote work meeting schedule and able to install these very nice fans in a couple of hours and even immediately corrected the tilted rod that one of his crew had installed incorrectly. I am a perfectionist and one of the most difficult people to impress and gotta say I was very impressed. We were impressed by his communications, punctuality, and flexibility. Knowledgable team but beware of up-charges. Duke and his team were able to detect the problem quickly in our home when other electricians had failed so I give him due credit for it. However, we discussed in detail over the phone that his initial fee would cover diagnostics and repair if done within the first hour. As soon as the team found the issue (10mins) they figured a socket needed to be relocated. Immediately an upcharge of $100 was mentioned on grounds that it was too much additional labor. They put a new socket and plate but it did not feel justified for the up charge. They were out within the hour. EDIT: Within 10mins of the neutral review I got a text message from the owner threatening to report to the city on some work where they had no knowledge of how/ where/ what was done. I responded that they don't need to blackmail and that it will posted on yelp too (screenshot attached). Immediately I got a call where the owner started to put up a fight. Never seen such practice. He made recommendations about the lighting which were excellent and fit into our current lighting scheme perfectly. When the current switch in the kitchen could not accommodate an extra switch, he was going to throw in a wireless switch for free so we wouldn't need to mess up the wall. Our house is old with various renovations through the years done by the previous owner and us followed by the most recent (3 years ago) solar and power wall installation. I decided to change out a fixture myself which inadvertently cause a breaker to no longer provide all of the power to all of its connections on the circuit with various lights flickering/ not working. I called another company and they were unable to rectify the issue. I called Duke electric and he said he could come out the following day. He was busy with a job, but said he come out at 4pm. I was a bit hesitant cause there won't be as much daylight if it took a long time to figure out plus traffic from his previous job, but Duke was very confident that he would be able to arrive and find the problem. He drove through rush hour traffic and arrived on time. He checked the backup panel with his meter and made sure all the connections look proper. Switched the breakers and it all worked. Power was restored. He and his team went through all the items (switches and fixtures) on that circuit to ensure everything was restored. He was in and out less than the hour he scoped. I used the "projects" function on Yelp to request quotes for recessed lighting. Duke responded that when it came to high ceilings, he was the expert. I thought to myself, "who is this guy?!" It turns out, he was absolutely right. Not only is he an expert, he's the DUKE of high ceilings!!! (See what I did there? Lol) I initially hired Duke for recessed lighting all throughout the house. We have an angled living room ceiling without any crawl space / attic above; all of the quotes we got from other electricians required a lot of patchwork from the LED recessed lighting installation. Duke minimized the patchwork needed and recommended a wireless system. He also removed old ceiling fans from our bedrooms. He generously installed a wiring harness, making the installation easier for us. Duke provided great insight and suggestions for the appropriate amount of lighting throughout the house. We loved his work so much, we requested him to upgrade our electrical panel and also had him install a chandelier-like fixture. At first owner seemed like a knowledgeable guy and that justified hiring him despite more than an average quote. I needed running 220 for EV charger, external outlet, and running AC disconnect. For which he asked/charged 8 hours for a crew of 3 people. In reality two team members started 9:15 finished 3:20 (with 1 hour lunch). Owner disappeared from the morning, did not show up during the day, or after the project. Only texted me to write him a hefty check to "put under the mat", w/o even wondering of the results. Shortcuts in every step of a way and all sort of mess was far from expected "quality". Just few to mention: - left bedroom with 5 large disastrous holes (while asked for 2 small to fish the wire). Now need a pro drywall/paint work to fix it all. - running 220 wire in the air over garage ceiling (did not even bother to ask for longer wire). - not patching wire hole in a fire wall (between garage and house). - trying to run wire by cutting went mesh (instead of agreed place to drill). - connected external outlet to inside outlet wiring instead of agreed/paid dedicated line. The worst part is - it will be "all your fault", "you have a wrong house", "you know too much" and "you ask too much". I never felt harassed as much and taken advantage of ever. You'll hear "I have a license" a dozen times. I asked owner to come and review. After spending time (+ listening his unprovoked threats), owner admitted wrong doing, tried to offer discount, fixing issues, or even patching the holes, but damage was done. I would never let him anywhere close to our home. If you need to install 2 recessed lights at extraordinary price, I would still advice to stay away and save your money/time/nerves/house. read more

For the cable to reach the two spots the car will park we need to run a conduit from the inside wall to the other side of the garage (by the door). I'll let the pics represent quality of work, but I cannot be any happier with the result for what I paid. It's about 30ish ft conduit along the wall. I already put the shelves in place so only showing the two ends. The appointment was super easy, but that can vary for many factors especially more and more people are getting their first EV. if availabilities are limited, I would consider wait unless it urgent. Also Duke pointed out that one of my breaker installed by a handyman I previously hired would not pass inspection because of different brand than the box. I had a pleasure of working with Duke Elec to upgrade our main service panel to 200Amp after Tesla failed to install the Powerwall due to excess loads. The overloading led to an arc in the service panel which cut off power to the cloth dryer. We contacted Duke for assistance at which time Duke promptly showed up to replace the breaker. Duke mentioned the hazard of overloading the panel which is consistent with the issue that Tesla brought up. After further research we decided to have the panel upgraded to mitigate fire danger issue. We approached several electricians in the area for the job. Those who came suggesting doing the work without city permit and PGE signoff were quickly dropped from consideration. I picked Duke for his honesty and integrity.
