I came in about 30 mins before closing on Saturday, May 17. Never heard of this business before, but was referred over here by Summerwind Nursery in Campbell. I had purposed an automatic irrigation controller online and needed the fixtures to build the irrigation lines for my vegetable planters. Dawson helped me at the counter. Highly recommend Lane Irrigation if you are looking for lawn irrigation supplies and need advice on your sprinkler system! I've been there several times and each time they took the time to understand what I needed and were able to provide the exact parts to resolve my problems. During my last trip there Gregg was able to resolve the problem with my drip system after I had swapped a 12v Orbit sprinkler controller for a 24v Orbit controller. After the swap my drip system ran continuously even with the controller switched off. I finally disconnected it but it still ran all zones all the time. I had to shut off the water supply to stop the drip system. Gregg was able to diagnose the problem to the incorrect latching solenoids leftover from the 12v controller setup. He gave me the right solenoids at a great price and that resolved my problem. I was planning on switching out all three sprinkler control valves but I was glad I talked with Gregg first. He saved me from spending extra money for new controllers and performing any additional labor required to switch out the sprinkler control valves. I went to Lane Irrigation today with a broken light fixture that I had purchased two years ago. I accidentally ran over it with my car and it was bent. I wanted to order a replacement for it. Greg was at the desk and looked over the light fixture and offered to repair it so it could be used until the new one arrived. Greg spent a good amount of time working on it and another employee, Ignacio, offered to help, too. It was a complicated repair job. Nevertheless, they repaired it, free of charge, except for a very inexpensive part needed for the light to work. They were thorough and careful and kind the whole time. I went looking for a pump for my fountain. Got that and will go back for more thing very soon. This is the kind of local business and superb service that we need to support. It is a little hard to find but it is worth the effort. The staff is VERY helpful and they have a good selection of quality plumbing and lighting supplies. Yep, they carry landscape lighting and they have a lighting room so you can get an idea of what the installed product will look like. Customer service is superb. My wife was with me and she commented that they spoke to her as well as me and they didn't act like she was unimportant. I didn't know exactly what size pump I needed but with a little discussion they helped me get a great quality pump at a reasonable price. I came in with the basic idea that I wanted to convert my sprinkler system to drip. Even though I'd found a lot about it in theory on the internet I really needed help with what actual PARTS I needed to retrofit. Juan Patino helped me by basically designing a system between helping other customers (professionals who knew what they wanted and needed to get in and out and back on the job). I brought in a drawing of my existing layout and he laid out the parts right on the drawing, which was helpful when I returned home with a box of parts. Since then I've been back 2 other times and everyone's been helpful. 1/2 star off for inconvenient hours for the do-it-yourselfer 9-to-5-er. This is my go to place as the beautification chair at the local school. So I have bought all kinds of sprinkler stuff here, they give great advice, they go out if their way to help, and Home Depot beware the quality of there parts and options are much better. And did I tell you they have commercial replacement sprinklers? Come in district office you have 10 schools all using 25 year old sprinklers. The new ones spray long and up close. I would love to replace the 20 commercial sprinklers cause in the summer there is a dry patch around the sprinkler, coverage sucks, and they use 30 percent more water. Should be a no brained to replace them. read more

Even though it's retail, they cater to installers who can get needed stuff in one place. If they're not busy, you can talk to someone at the counter unlike HD. The truth is that you can get all parts at the big boxes (like 24v solenoid, PVC parts, etc.) for slightly cheaper prices (Lane is competitive but more expensive) and avoid going on the 17 to get there. Where they are much better is in the "system control", like manifolds and controllers. It doesn't mean that higher prices mean higher quality, but the components you bury under the ground or electronic controllers should be higher quality than what the big boxes sell. read more

I came here to get some help with converting my sprinklers to drip irrigation. After finding two highly rated irrigation companies on Yelp, I went to the first one where they completely ignored me. Then I visited Lane Irrigation...Troy took the time to understand my situation and brought me behind the counter to show me various options and parts. He knew with my setup that I wasn't going to spend a bunch of money at his store but he took the time to make sure I completed the project to my satisfaction. I purchased the parts I needed and proceeded with the sprinkler conversion. I ran out of tubing half-way through but Lane Irrigation was closed so I bought some tubing from a big box store. As soon as I started using it, I could feel that the big box store tubing was inferior. I ended up returning it and waited until Lane Irrigation opened up to pick up the remaining tubing. Overall, I probably paid 5-10% more compared to the big box stores but I got way better service, higher quality parts, and saved a ton of time by consulting with patient experts. To give you an idea of how little I knew and how much Troy taught me, he literally had to show me how to poke holes in the main tubing to connect the emitter tubing. Fast forward a year, one of the caps on my sprinkler retrofit kits was leaking. I brought the cap back to Lane Irrigation fully expecting to buy another retrofit kit or at least a new cap. Troy explained that those caps weren't supposed to leak that quickly and pulled a cap off a brand new retrofit kit and gave it to me. No questions asked, no charge. He said he'll send my old cap back to the manufacturer. I've recommended this store to friends looking for irrigation supplies and advice. The quality of service and advice alone is an incredible value as far as time and parts savings. Decided to redo myself all the irrigation for our yard, 8 zones including lawn and drip. Had done this before, mostly relying on Home Depot. These guys saved me time, money and frustration and made this experience interesting and fun. They looked at my plans and offered advice after advice saving scores of mistakes I would have done. They reviewed calculations and diagrams and build a complete shopping list. I got 95%+ of what I needed in one trip - this is very significant to anyone who tried this as a homeowner. Some of great advice I got included: Call your water company to get the water pressure at the meter. Use a flexible funny pipe for each head so you can move the sprinkler around easily. Help to determine if a 1in valve would service the 12 sprinklers I had in mind. And significant help to not forget to buy a few pieces that you only discover when you are on the job ... On top of that prices were lower that HD (!) sometimes by 30% (e.g. for valves). Actually I do not believe that anything was more expensive than HD... They made this work fun fast and interesting for me !! read more

I do mostly all my own work on my house and the typical business that primarily caters to professionals don't always tolerate the do it your self person trying to educate themselves. But Troy at Lane showed me some product options, pulled a sump pump out of the box to explain it's value over the cheap Home Depot plastic ones and made me feel I could make an informed decision. I am so sorry it took me almost 40 years to discover Lane Irrigation in my backyard. For years, I had relied on OSH, Home Depot, or Lowe's to fix of modify my sprinkler systems. These stores might or might not have the parts required, but for sure they lacked the technical expertise I just experienced at Lane Irrigation. These folks are the real deal. They know their stuff and have the goods to help you be successful with your project. They almost convinced me to do this current irrigation system myself after spending a good deal of time diagramming and showing me the various components. After that time spent with me, I asked if they had the names of contractors who might do this kind of work. I was given a list of such individuals or companies and three were checked marked as being good options. I contacted all 3 and eventually settled on Primescape. What a wonderful choice. Mike Primeaux, the owner, is an extremely likable young man who is punctual to a fault and this past week installed my system. I could not have asked for a better install as this competent young man modified and improved on the original plan I might have tackled. It pays to get a professional to do some jobs. Mike is a professional and willing to work on a multitude of outdoor projects. So between Lane Irrigation and Mike Primeaux, if you need any irrigation or lighting work done, they are the A team. read more
