I was concerned about dust, but was so impressed with how clean they kept everything from start to finish. Anthony has an excellent eye for design, and was very helpful with suggestions for spacing and placement. He was also sure to take care of all the details, including removing existing speakers and lights that would no longer fit and properly patching up holes. I contacted Duke about wiring and installation of 3 fans…read more Of the 4 different electrical contractors that we contacted he was the most responsive and understood exactly what we needed, even though I sent the same message via Yelp to the other contractors. His pricing was similar to the others and he understood that I didn't want any drywall damage. The others could or would not accomodate this request. He was flexible about the day and time for installation and worked around remote work meetings schedules and separate fan delivery from Home Depot. He was able come by on a Friday and his crew were able to pre wire in everything in a couple of hours without any holes in the drywall by pulling the wire through the existing conduit. The fans arrived the next day on Saturday and he was able to again accomodate the remote work meeting schedule and able to install these very nice fans in a couple of hours and even immediately corrected the tilted rod that one of his crew had installed incorrectly. I am a perfectionist and one of the most difficult people to impress and gotta say I was very impressed. We were impressed by his communications, punctuality, and flexibility. We recommend Duke Electric for any electrical jobs whether they are large or small.

Knowledgable team but beware of up-charges…read more Duke and his team were able to detect the problem quickly in our home when other electricians had failed so I give him due credit for it. However, we discussed in detail over the phone that his initial fee would cover diagnostics and repair if done within the first hour. As soon as the team found the issue (10mins) they figured a socket needed to be relocated. Immediately an upcharge of $100 was mentioned on grounds that it was too much additional labor. They put a new socket and plate but it did not feel justified for the up charge. They were out within the hour. EDIT: Within 10mins of the neutral review I got a text message from the owner threatening to report to the city on some work where they had no knowledge of how/ where/ what was done. I responded that they don't need to blackmail and that it will posted on yelp too (screenshot attached). Immediately I got a call where the owner started to put up a fight. Never seen such practice. Just for this I have taken a star off!

The guy at the counter took one look at it, disappeared into the back and returned with its replacement! I laughed; we laughed - I was relieved not to have to change out the entire fixture! On a side note, one of the great things about this place is that they accept lightbulbs for recycling. I have been coming here for quite a while doing this (the big retailers don't do that anymore), and recently switched out all of my fluorescent bulbs for LED ones in the garage and kitchen. The fraying started a while ago and I was procrastinating about replacement, but now it was to a point that it was going to snap at any time, and it was time to replace. I was debating on replacing the lamp rather than spend the money to repair and I decided to repair it. I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon and woman said it would be ready by Monday. I wasn't expecting it to be replaced so quickly. The cost of the replacement socket--the pull chain couldn't be replaced on its own--was $9.50, reasonable. The labor though was $28, and the total cost was almost $40. While I could have just purchased a new bed lamp for less than that, considering the alternative was having an otherwise good lamp go to landfill. I thought it was worth it price and now my lamp will last many more years. If you have lamp repairs, I would definitely bring it to Carlos Lighting for repair and support this local Mom and Pop business.

It was stressful and overwhelming, until Henry from California Power & Light stepped in. Henry responded after normal business hours because it was an emergency and immediately assessed the situation. What really stood out was how he took ownership of the entire process. He leveraged his contacts with PG&E and the city, coordinated everything that needed to happen, and moved incredibly fast. Not only did he arrange the response right away, he reworked his company's schedule to get a crew to our house the very next day. From there, he coordinated with PG&E, handled the permitting process, and got the city inspection completed within two days, something that is extremely rare in a situation like this. Beyond the technical expertise and speed, Henry was simply great to deal with. He communicated clearly, stayed calm, and brought a sense of control to what was otherwise a very stressful situation for our family. If you need an electrician who is knowledgeable, responsive, and truly advocates for his customers, Henry and California Power & Light are outstanding.
