ABSOLUTELY UNETHICAL AND SHADY! We booked 3 rooms months in advanced with family coming into SoCal. We called after booking to confirm reservation and make a request to be placed near each other. I called the evening before our stay, again, to request the rooms be situated near each other and was confirmed they had all 3 reservations (2 rooms on one reservation under my BIL and 1 room on a separate reservation under my husband). We make our 2hr drive up to Big Bear and upon checking-in (around 3pm), we're told they couldn't find either reservations! Here's the shady part: one of the female employee hears this, she steps in to take over. She proceeds to tell us that the reservations were not in their system, they have no means of altering the system therefore it couldn't inadvertently be cancelled, she was new but somehow gave the response that this has never happened before, and she continues to insist my husband and BIL contact their credit card and third party booking agency (in addition to Extra Holidays which has nothing to do with our reservation) to address the issue, despite us showing email proof of reservation and payment. No one more experienced or even a manager (who appeared to be standing behind this receptionist) stepped in to help this "new" worker. After about almost an hour of "there's nothing I could do on my end" excuses, and having had 3rd party booking confirmation, the receptionist confirmed that EVEN if we were to verify all of this, they had no rooms available for our party. Which was odd because we were early for check in. Later that day, my husband got on the phone with the 3rd party booking agency we used to get a refund, they called the hotel to confirm we didn't stay, and here's the UNETHICAL part: WorldMark confirmed with the agent that THEY CANCELLED our reservation!!! A quick Google search for reviews on this issue showed this has been a common practice of WorldMark. They over book rooms by up to 20% banking on cancellation. But if not, then they drop the paid reservations, often without any notice. This is completely shady and unethical greedy business practice. We were fortunate enough to only have a 2hr drive, but folks traveling from out of state or country would have had no other accommodations! Please be aware and DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH WORLDMARK. This resort is fairly large and is at a good location. It is close to Stanfield Marsh boardwalk, Alpine Pedal Path, Woodland Trails and Discovery center. It is also close to Vons and Stater Bros markets. This resort has many onsite amenities. It has a recreational center with arcade games, billiard table, fools ball, air hockey, a fitness room. There is also pickle ball courts, basketball court, table tennis, corn hole, bocce ball , a mini putting green area and a children's playground. In addition, there are swimming pools and jacuzzis. Each unit has a full kitchen stocked with the basic necessities for cooking. Each unit also has a private bbq grill, washer and dryer for laundry. They even provided seasoning packets you can use to season your food. I especially liked the "garlic junkie" seasoning. It really enhanced the chicken and the burgers I made while I was there. Staff were friendly. I had a very good experience with this resort. My only complaint would be the floor to my unit could be cleaner. I wonder if they mop the floor after each guest checked out. If I could rate it a 10 out of 10 I would. This is your home away from home get away. Guarantee safety and comfort and ease of access. Also so many on property amenities and activities that can keep your family busy. At the time of our visit, the winter blizzard just had passed and left the property with tons of inches of snow. Never had to leave the property for snow play. All for free. CONCERNS PRIOR: booked through booking.com and was afraid of bad service or last minute cancellations by the resort as said by previous reviewers. SERVICE: 5/5 Welcoming and friendly COMFORT: 5/5 Beds including the murphy bed was comfortable IN ROOM AMENITIES: 5/5 Full kitchen, with plates, utensils, cookware, fridge with freezer, oven, microwave, and basic seasonings (salt, pepper, chili flakes etc). No rice cooker though. Washer and dryer, private outdoor propane grill. Hair dryer and extra toilet paper and tissues, trash baggies. Even your own dustpan, broom, vacuum. CONS: Sensitive smoke detector. Sets off instantly when cooking in the kitchen. Heard the other nearby neighbors alarm go off too. Bobby the maintenance guy was so kind and let us know that it wasn't uncommon to go off. Made us feel better as it was embarrassing loud and frequent. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT: gets cold in big bear despite the room heater. Would love to see the resort include disposable house footwear/hotel slip ons for walking in the unit. And a freezer in their little shop for frozen snacks/ice cream for last minute sweet cravings. Would I stay here again? 100%. We just checked in last night but I already love this location The little cabin we booked was two bed, two baths, and has a pull out bed in the living room so it comfortably fit the five of us in my family. It has a full kitchen and an outdoor grill. It was warm and cozy. I love how they also have a basketball court, foosball table, ping pong table, pool, jacuzzi, arcade, lounge area, a gym, water refill station, and a children's outdoor playground. It's fun for the whole family of all ages! The whole site was peaceful, serene, and the perfect amount of chilly (came during October). Check-in was easy, and parking was hassle-free--exactly what you want after a drive up to Big Bear, California. The resort is made up of separate buildings, which gives it a more private and relaxed feel compared to a traditional hotel. Our two-bedroom unit was well laid out and spacious. The Murphy bed in the living room was a practical addition, making the space more versatile without feeling cramped. One of the best features was the back door leading to a patio, making it easy to step outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The location is excellent. It's close to both major highways leading into town, making it easy to get anywhere. Vons, which feels like the central hub of Big Bear, is nearby, along with plenty of restaurants, a Starbucks, and other conveniences--all within walking distance. Inside, everything was clean and well-maintained. The kitchen and living room had an open layout, making it easy to cook and relax in the same space. The beds were comfortable, and the resort was quiet at night, which made for a restful stay for a family with kids. We wanted to get away from the scorching heat so we booked a night here. Upon arrival, we expected that our room isn't ready yet. So we went to look for a charging station, bought some supplies, and walked around the lake. By the time, we did all those, we received a text saying our room is ready. Great!! This time, we were given an upstairs unit. I would have loved the patio if a tree didn't obstruct the view. We checked out early to avoid the inclement weather. But we made sure everything is clean and left the unit organized as much as possible. We don't want to be charged $250 for housekeeping as one Yelper mentioned. read more

Worldmark did an awesome job for my family's trip to Big Bear so much so I decided to make a yelp account to give a review. All of the staff I spoke with was friendly, I spoke with a girl on the front desk and sadly I do not remember her name but I do know she had a tattoo of a candle on her forearm while out and about on the property. Not only did she help us find our room but was also the one who had cleaned it before our arrival. She did it to far better than what I've come to expect from any type of hotel or resort. Extra clean and well checked for dust, trash, and anything out of place. To the employee with the candle tattoo I want to say thank you! Check in was extremely easy and quick. We arrived and were on our way within a few moments and were even helped with information about the town of Big Bear Lake. We have been coming up to big bear for years but this is the first time we used our timeshare up here. This by far is the best way to do Big Bear! The condos are equipped with everything (washer,dryer,bbq,cookware,fireplace,shampoo,conditioner) . We got to have breakfast and bbq throughout our time here on the balcony . The pool and tennis courts were closed but they had 2 separate jacuzzis available. There are pickle ball courts about .5 mile away so we got to play . We played basketball at resort and they have a great game room with pool tables and arcade games. The parking is free and the staff were all nice . I must add that they run on solar panels. This is a big plus because they often have power outages up here , don't have to worry about it ruining your trip. This place is worth every penny! read more

This place was super clean inside and out. The entire grounds were well kept as far as the lawn being cut, the trees groomed, and zero trash nowhere. It was just beautifully maintained. We stayed only stayed a total of 2 nights but this place has everything you need if you really wanted to stay here a while or even live here! Washer and dryer units, bbq grill, vacuum, large fridge, TV, fireplace, pots and pans, plates, utensils, coffee, etc. Everything was stocked up as well. They even supplied a small stash of herbs and spices in case you wanted to cook some food up. We decided to take advantage of the grill so we bought some burger patties and essentials down the street at the Stater Bros, waking distance I might add. Our check-in went smoothly and everyone was polite and very helpful. The check-out process was super easy, you can send a text to a number provided on the fridge to checkout and voila, you are outta there! read more

At first we thought it was a one bedroom which would've been fine but with two bedrooms and all that space it made us smile as we walked through it. Really nice rooms and property, there are lots of amenities. It is also a close drive downtown and a walkable distance to the stater bros and the boardwalk, (Just minutes away). Being a timeshare, it is more like you are renting a private apartment by versus a regular hotel room. I would definitely stay here again. The spaciousness was really helpful for a multi-person trip (3 people and one toddler), so it was a perfect size. The ladies at the front were nice and you can text them about any issues or things you need. The only drag was you have to pay for wifi, but we had a workaround for this (using phone data) so it was not a big deal. It was quite clean and the rooms have personal washer/dryer. The property has various hot tubs (I think three?) including one by the main pool, they are all spacious. We enjoyed the games and arcade as well, but spent most of the time in town and at the pools! read more

Just spent the weekend at Worldmark Big Bear and what a joy!!!! The front desk personnel are a throwback to the original Worldmark way of doing things before Wyndham got involved. The resort is clean and maintained. The room was put together well, even for being a little older. They pay attention to details. I can't say enough about Worldmark Big Bear. Maybe all of the other Worldmark resorts need to duplicate what they are doing there. You'd never know that Wyndham is involved with that location, because it is top notch......not at the substandard Wyndham settles on. Keep up the great work Workmark Big Bean! read more

Every time we've visited, it has been great! Until 12/2021....there was a leak in the bathroom and the washer wasn't working. "Maintenance" was sent up, and they specifically said there was nothing they could do, that if it rained or snowed it was just going to continue leaking. Fast forward to 02/2022, we find out that we are being charged 250.00 cleaning because we left some dishes out of the dishwasher and some trash...we did as much as we could but needed to get out of there. We have made attempts to have a conversation but Eric Geffon who is the manager there can not take time to speak with us and our email communication from 3/20 is yet to be answered. We've been owners for about 15 years and this is the first time anything like this has happened and can not believe the lack of response. read more

Not my favorite Worldmark location... The main attraction and activities to do here in Big Bear during the summer are boating, fishing, mountain biking or, in the winter time, skiing. The water is low at the Lake since they did not get much rain during the rainy season. We checked in around 7:30p and our room was ready, it better have been. Check-in time was allowed at 4:00p and I read many complaints here that their room was not ready at that time. Registration was fast and easy and the attendant was super friendly... it was when she turned us over to get our parking pass to another staff member where the guy kept bugging us to attend one of their 90-min long information meeting. Uh, no thank you! The last time we stayed for one of these "information only" meeting (Worldmark in Angels Camp) we were the last ones to leave! We were there for 4 hours and I wasn't shy about showing how upset I was. Just give us our parking pass, please. After we were able to dodge a time and date schedule he didn't stop there, he left us a note at our door the next morning. Ugh! At our unit, we were on the second level and just adjacent to one of the outdoor covered hot tubs. Man, it was noisy when people are on that hot tub. Luckily, once we shut our door we can't hear their noise. Pretty good sound proof. My main complaint was there is no AC here! Aghhh! what kind of resort has no air conditioning (except for the one in Lake Tahoe but their climate is much cooler). It was like a sauna when we entered our unit. We had to open our windows to let some cool breeze in and, lucky for us, people at the hot tub had already left. Anyway, we only used the resort to sleep. Our entire vacation was spent mostly in SoCal where we visited the two Presidential Libraries of Nixon and Reagan, Hollywood Sign, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kolache Factory, Gen. George Patton Museum, Salton Sea, even checked out a casino in Indio somewhere (Fantasy Springs Resort Casino) and eat, eat, eat out. We didn't get a chance to walk around the village but when we arrived on our first night and was looking for a place to eat most of the sleepy town of Big Bear was closed or about to close (9:00p). As a timeshare, I have reservations about a five star rating because it's so hard to book at any location during peak season, but the Big Bear resort itself is pretty nice. Centrally located just a few mins from Big Bear ski resort, the zoo, lake and town. Service is friendly here as well. No tough sales pitches and very helpful with recommendations on places to eat and visit. When I can get a reservation, I can and will stay here. I had to book the long MLK weekend about 4 months in advance with no idea if there would be snow on the ground, which was limited but still having a great time. read more

Nice place and surroundings but terrible customer service. No housekeeping ... vacuum, clean kitchen and toilets and change sheets yourself. While you're at it, you have to wash towels and sheets yourself in the washer/dryer. And bring your own cleaning supplies. The worst part is the internet. They charge you (right internet isn't free here) for the worst internet I've ever encountered and they don't care!!! It's dial up speed when it works. Ours has been out all day and when you ask them for help, they honestly say "it's not our problem, contact Deep Blue, our internet provider." Seriously. This isn't a resort. It's a place to stay while traveling and that's about it. Frustrating. read more

We were notified 1 hour before traveling to the hotel that our reservation was going to be canceled and we had to call a number to figure out an alternative. This weekend was supposed to be a get away for my sons 4th birthday. I booked the rooms already 2 months beforehand. Anyway, we stopped packing and got calling the number the hotel provided. The number then told us to contact expedia, who said they had no proof of cancelation and that they need proof to be able to cancel on their end. They suggested calling hotel... so we called hotel, we couldn't get through.. for 2 hours. Then when we finally got through they told us to call the number they sent in their original email... what?! So frustrated, we had to cancel everything and stay home due to uncertainty of somewhere to stay. About 630pm, 7 hours after original calls, I decided to try again because i wanted my money back. Finally got through to expedia and this time a nice guy got in contact with hotel himself and confirmed they hotel canceled. He was trying to offer me alternative hotel accommodation... at 7pm?! What an absolute joke. I demanded refund at this point. There was no way i was driving to big bear at 7pm at night (4 hours away from our house). They FINALLY agreed to give us a refund. We've stayed here many times and always found the units in good condition and the staff very helpful. But not last time. Despite being members in good standing, we were booked into a unit that needed updating with chipped cabinets and a white refrigerator with black streaks on it. Then we heard an incredible crash, ran into the master bathroom where my daughter had just been brushing her teeth, to see the gigantic mirror had fallen off the wall and crashed into a thousand pieces all over the vanity with shards flying into the shower and toilet. A few minutes earlier and my daughter would have been seriously injured or worse. A crew came right away to clean up the glass. We looked more closely and found more glass and they came back. We were told we'd be getting a report in three to five days. This is when the trouble started and we discovered that this company has the worst customer service in the world. We never heard from anyone for weeks. I called owner care, a joke of a name. After spending 72 minutes on the phone, most of it on hold, the rep told me there was no one available to answer my questions or explain what happened. Eventually someone did call back to say, essentially, oh, sorry about that. We'll refund your maintenance fee for the weekend. I asked for the report I was promised. I'm still waiting seven weeks later. I called the site itself a week ago hoping for some answers and was told the person in charge would call me back in an hour. I'm still waiting for that call. Usually the units are nice and the on-site staff is very friendly and helpful. But should anything go seriously wrong the company's customer service is hideous. Front office short staffed at times but everyone we've interacted with have been very friendly and helpful. Many times we have visited worldmark and recently as we entered the lobby we could hear the general manager yelling, furthermore we witnessed someone who appeared to be in charge treating the staff disrespectfully by correcting them in front of us and other guests. I'd give zero if I could. Police sent us home due to closed roads after sitting in traffic for 10 hours. We have a 5 year old and a 9 month infant. After the police told us to turn around because it's not safe, we went home. The next day we call and explain what happened and because the manager declared it "non emergency" he refuses to refund us. I guess putting children in dangerous situations are non emergency. We were supposed to be staying in a 2bd suite for a week at the end of July this year. We arrived after 4:30, well past the check in time. unfortunately for us, our suite was not even ready. there were a few people who also were waiting ahead of us. they took our information and our cc (for incidentals) and said they would call us when our suite was finally ready. It wasn't until almost 8pm that our suite was available. This didn't make me too happy, but what can we do? It was a nice spacious 2bd suite, on the second floor. we were told that parking was available in front of the unit. this was not true. another unit had a family staying there, i saw around 20 people and they were using up most of the parking spaces. Our suite appeared to be clean. Until my toddler ran around the suite and i saw his feet! filthy!! The guest bathroom did not even have soap or a floor towel. but i called to the front desk and they brought some over immediately. I'm sure that was a fluke, because of the rush to get the suite cleaned? not sure. The suite itself had the nicely stocked kitchen, we just went to the nearby Stater Bros, stocked up on food and made use of the BBQ grill on our patio for the next few days. The staff here are all nice. That's the reason for the 3 stars. Everyone we encountered from the front desk, to housekeeping, to the security officer. The resort has a nice recreation room.. we wished we had made more use of it! But we were out paddle boarding, biking, bowling etc. We did try to make use of the swimming pool, but unfortunately the kiddie pool was the only pool available. For some reason the regular pool was taped off. A few days into our stay, there was a thunder storm anyways, so it was ok that we couldn't use the pool. I love that the resort is close to everything, i bet it would be even more fun for us during the winter. I've been to other locations where Wireless Internet is free... here you have to pay. I believe it was about $8/per day.. or $24/10 days. I opted for the latter, since it was a better deal. read more
