We drove from Vegas to visit Big Bear and we decided to stay in this Resort. We were able to check in early about hour early. For the price the rooms are clean. The only complain i have is that our bathroom had empty body wash & almost empty shampoo inside the dispenser.plus i don't think our room even has a A/C but that's ok at least they left a fan in our room plus the room has a ceiling fan.

Our first visit here and we are so thrilled to be so close to downtown. The gentleman at the front checking us in was quick and kind. Our room was clean and super spacious. The bathroom is accommodating. I most definitely recommend!

Some parking spaces are underneath pine trees that can drop cones 5" long, so you may want to park in other spaces. The hotel has rooms in three buildings. My room was in the Wishing Well Motel, which has the same owners. My room was next to the Main Street, Pine Knot Ave, so it was quiet from about 10:30 pm to 8 am. For a quiet room, ask for one away from the larger roads. Woodpeckers right outside my room! Like other mountain hotels, there is heating but no AC or bathroom fan. Good AT&T cellphone signal. Hotel Wi-Fi is good in the parking lot but may not work in the room - Wi-Fi may suffer interference from the nearby cell tower.

A friend and I went for a girls weekend. We wanted to stay as close to the village as possible so we could walk everywhere. When reading some of the reviews we were a little leery about staying here, but the proximity to the village won us out. Upon arrive early the lady (didn't get name) at the front desk was extremely nice and gave us recommendations on places to go that evening, we ask about an upgrade and was told to come back in an hour when John was there. (Again we were 3 hours early to check in time). When we came back John had already taken care of us was very friendly and helpful. As we were going to our room we noticed hand sanitizers located at convenient locations throughout the hotel. Once in the room we checked the mattress (bed bugs scare me), the mattress were double covered and looked new. NO bugs found thank goodness. :) The room was clean and looked like it had a mini make over. The sink, floor and curtains in the bathroom look newer. The bathtub was circuit 1970's but clean. The carpet in our room looked clean. Yes, this is an older hotel, so you can't expect perfection. The table and chairs were older but clean. We had a fireplace in our room that we used in the evenings and it kept the room nice and warm. They're is a heater that worked great. On Saturday we decided to have a couple drinks in the outdoor restaurant. The hostess and server were both very friendly. Best bloody mary I've had in a long time. This area outside looks really pretty at night (I took a pic). Our room was downstairs, so as this is an older hotel you can hear the people in the room above us walking. We went to the front desk a couple of times during our visit and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would of given 4 stars because of how dated some things were, but the staff's friendliness and helpfulness, the awesome location to the Village, and the convenient parking had me giving them 5 stars.

June 2021 and Covid restrictions are lifting in California. However, there are no signs of sanitation on door outside. No notice of masking or not. No hand sanitizer in lobby or in room. The rooms don't seem sanitized. The switch plate was broken when we walked in, which isn't a big deal but it would have been so easy to replace rather than housekeeping picking it up off the floor and setting it precariously on the wall. Either housekeeping is lazy, and that's not good, or management doesn't want to know about repairs, and that's worse. The location is central to the Village and I've heard that locals meet here, but the rooms don't have central air. See fan for reference. There is heat in bathroom and a heater in the room. Overall the reception?? Not friendly.

Staff needs to clean the walkways for their guests! (LIABILITY)

As of 2023: nope and nope again, especially if you bring your pet, they will stash you in a gross trash can of a room. No idea what the "newer" suites look like, but this place is a huge DUMP, and we left terrified we brought bed bugs with us and… Read more

Downstairs you pass a little drawbridge with a "moat" (with water!) to a dining area with long table where the kitchenette area is, replete with ice machine, Brita pitcher, sink, mini fridge, microwave, keurig and a restroom. Upstairs is the bedroom, with a gargoyle overlooking and statue of king and queen. Some of the lights and sconces are broken or missing, the knight no longer works. We were tripping out hard when I flipped the switches by the swing and the blue lights and moat began spewing water down fountain by the kitchen. This was amazing. I was literally jumping up and down when we entered the place. I am so impressed by how cool this place is, even with the things over time that have fallen into disrepair the detail overall is nothing short of impressive. Not sure how anyone can complain about something like this. The shower head has a rainfall head, the stones in the shower, to the shape of the mirror, it was all intentional. I saw nothing "icky" in selecting the specific stone-like accoutrements to complement the theme. There's a tv in the bedroom but why would you even wanna watch tv in a castle garden? COME ON! Loved the vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, flickering lights, ambiance - we put on Celtic music and enjoyed the peace away from the city. This isnt even our first day here I just couldn't wait to update my review. I happened to get his and her house slippers as one of the anniversary gifts for my bf and it worked out perfectly to grace our castle floors. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay and I'm going to give you the good, the bad and the between as I saw it…read more There was a lot to really enjoy but the best was the jacuzzi inside the room. It was huge and the water was always super hot and the shower was hot right when I got out of the tub. A little soap goes a very long way with bubbles, proceed with caution. The room and the spa were very clean, there was a sticker on the door with the name of the person and the date that our room was sanitized which was reassuring to me. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. Whenever I stay anywhere I strip the bed and put on my own sheets and blanket but when tearing the bed apart our white linens were very white and clean. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! I suppose one could find the rooms dated, I personally felt like they were cute and cozy and felt cabin like,I didn't mind the decor at all. We stayed in cabin 16, I was able to scope out 17 and has been updated recently and is more modern. They both cost the same so I would probably go with 17 it's really the best bang for your buck. Finding our cabin at night was fairly difficult if you are able to check in during the day I would definitely say do that. We eventually found our cabin, they all look the same and aren't marked terribly well. The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. Remember to look for that coupon code online and to book through their direct website and the price is unreal.

We complained and was told that they had the right to change us. It's not in their written policies anywhere. This room was substandard, especially to the one we actually booked. And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. Everything is done by text message, yet conflicts aren't resolved. It was our ;9 wedding anniversary. We were deeply dissapointed after reading other's posit reviews. We won't be back

Let me first off mention that around 9:00pm-ish the entire Big Bear Valley region was blacked out due to winds, and this was done by BBEV it was announced earlier in the day, but if you aren't signed up for email or texts (which apparently this Club was not), you were caught unawares. This impacted our experience as we were sitting down for dinner at 9:00pm and all of a sudden (snapping fingers) it's pitch black... EVERYWHERE, not a glimmer of light in sight. We thought, of course, it must be a temporary condition until we went on Reddit and read that it would be off until 3:00AM. We received no notification, via texts (this is the form of communication at this property), from the hotel, no Safety (formerly known as Security in the hospitality industry) to make sure people were ok. We didn't have candles, and our phones weren't charged, etc. Then our water was turned off due to a leak in our building in the morning, and Engineering knocked on our door to let us know, and that's when we got the update from the hotel staff. This was around 10:30am. Bill in Engineering was so kind and patient as we asked, what I am guessing, questions that probably had been asked all morning, LOL He also opened our garage so we could get our vehicle out. From here on, this review is based on our first impressions and the end of our stay. We arrived after 5:00pm, and check-in was quick and courteous. The place is very spacious! The kitchen is roomy and great for preparing meals for a large group - just beware to bring EVERYTHING... this isn't an Airbnb you'll need to bring all seasonings/condiments, etc. needed for preparing a meal. I recommend taking advantage of the grill outside. It was super easy to use, and convenient for outdoor dining on the balcony where there is a round table to seat about 4ppl. The dining table was HUGE and perfect for our 5-course meal. There is a built-in desk area someone can use as a workspace if needed. Living rooms are inviting and open; however, the TVs are not SMART TVs - this shouldn't be a problem if you plan to relax and spend quality time with whomever you are traveling with, but do keep in mind they do not have access to Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, etc. It's strictly cable. The temperatures drop considerably in the evening... we turned on the gas fireplace and enjoyed the ambiance. The day after the blackout (power was returned at 1:00pm), we had breakfast out on the balcony. It was comfortable and quiet. Bedrooms are large, and the bathrooms are ample for groups that are coming with multiple guests in each room. Soaking tubs, walk-in showers, and double vanities are fantastic amenities here. Imagine my glee to find they supply Crabtree & Evelyn Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Lotion! The TVs in the rooms are small as well, and are in the armoire... you'd be better off bringing your laptop or iPad to watch something, since these TVs only have cable access. We did use the pool, but didn't take advantage of the jacuzzi as there were a lot of kids in there. The clubhouse was inviting, and we made a point to taste the popcorn, and I made myself an English Breakfast Tea (Twinings). In this area is also a Coffee, Latte, and Hot Chocolate brewing machine. I like that they have a library located on the 2nd floor overlooking the lobby. I didn't use the gym or the billiards room, but I did take a peek - large and clean, from what I could tell. BTW, the village is located immediately outside the gates. A short 5-minute walk will have you at the cafes, restaurants, bars, and gift shops. If you didn't bring groceries or forgot something, Vons and Stater Bros are about a 15-minute drive down the road. If possible, request a unit that has a view of the lake... not all of them do, but you can request in advance, and it would be based upon availability. It's a little outdated and has dark interiors, but I am looking forward to my return for a 'do-over'. Respectfully Reviewed.
