Breakfast made by the lonely host Amy!
Chaille K.

Needed a last minute self care getaway with myself so of course I turn to yelp to help me find a destination. I booked at the gold mountain manor from being so captured by their location. Tuesday morning i jumped in my car and sped to big bear. Parked in the back and once upon arrival I knew this was great idea. Tony welcomed me and man the pictures were exactly what they posted. I was so fortunate to have the place to myself for a night. The next day I met Amy and she was so lovely. Made a parfait and then simple blue berry pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. Amy was really great to talk to made you feel like family. I'm obviously going through things and she made me feel welcomed. My last day for checkout had a great home made breakfast again by Amy. Gold mountain manor was best first bed and breakfast experiences I've had. Will be back next chance I'm able to get away from my reality. Side note- establishment is very clean the owners and the employees are great on communication. Thank you guys again!

Almost 100 year old slice of history. Very well kept and maintained manor with all the comforts of today's living. Very clean, super friendly owners and Toni, all with a can do attitude, generous with a wonderful breakfast and 24 hour tea or snacks, and a very good vibe. Nice community at breakfast before exploring Big Bear. Very quiet and tranquil. We re-booked at checkout for another stay in Fall.

Fantastic historical 1928 Inn. Delightful inn keepers who provide a wonderful homemade breakfast in an original Big Bear Historical building. Old pine, original furniture cozy fireplace and a feeling of escaping reality to visit 1928. The grounds are manicured and lush, green and magical. If you love history, and time travel. This is a must. For extra history while staying at the inn, be sure to visit the Big Bear History Museum to understand the century's long history of Big Bear. We will be back... soon !!

This was the best get away for my wife and I. It's off the beat and path, but close enough to town. It was perfect. The manor is beautiful and has that old soul feel. The host was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks again Darrin.

Yogurt with breakfast every day.

The wife and I spent this last weekend with the new owners of Gold Mountain Manor. This was our first foray into a full Bed and Breakfast stay, and let me tell you, Darrin and Amy know what they're doing! We're told that the decor hasn't changed much, though the rooms do have new smart TVs, and their WiFi is strong throughout. The Presidential Suit has a huge two-person tub in front of the fireplace. We didn't use the fireplace due to the heat, though it was stocked and ready for us. The tub was awesome! The wife took six baths over our three day stay! The grounds are wonderfully manicured and our time spent there was filled with watching a couple of robins, a couple of rabbits, and a bunch of chipmunks and squirrels. It was so relaxing to sit back and watch them all scurry around! This was a wonderful weekend at a wonderful B&B! We will definitely be back many times for years to come!

It was huge and the water was always super hot and the shower was hot right when I got out of the tub. A little soap goes a very long way with bubbles, proceed with caution. The room and the spa were very clean, there was a sticker on the door with the name of the person and the date that our room was sanitized which was reassuring to me. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. Whenever I stay anywhere I strip the bed and put on my own sheets and blanket but when tearing the bed apart our white linens were very white and clean. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! I suppose one could find the rooms dated, I personally felt like they were cute and cozy and felt cabin like,I didn't mind the decor at all. We stayed in cabin 16, I was able to scope out 17 and has been updated recently and is more modern. They both cost the same so I would probably go with 17 it's really the best bang for your buck. Finding our cabin at night was fairly difficult if you are able to check in during the day I would definitely say do that. We eventually found our cabin, they all look the same and aren't marked terribly well. The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. Remember to look for that coupon code online and to book through their direct website and the price is unreal.

We complained and was told that they had the right to change us. It's not in their written policies anywhere. This room was substandard, especially to the one we actually booked. The mini blind were threaded, broken and dirty the table was beat up and not stable, the cost rack was in front of the window. And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. Everything is done by text message, yet conflicts aren't resolved. It was our ;9 wedding anniversary. We were deeply dissapointed after reading other's posit reviews. We won't be back

They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. I am definitely planning on staying here again!
