What a gem! Sacred sands is a beautiful and relaxing boutique hotel near Joshua Tree National Park. My boyfriend and I came here for a weekend trip a couple of weeks ago. We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. AMAZING RENTAL!! Definitely the best place to stay while visiting Joshua Tree National Park! Located only one mile from the West Entrance. We stayed in the Onyx room. There's only two rooms but each are beautifully decorated w so much attention to detail! Both have their own private outdoor area that is huge. The outdoor area have their own shower and tub which has a window that you can open to view the sunset. There's also a queen size bed outside for stargazing or tanning. Don't worry there is an indoor bathroom as well with an amazing shower. Everything was so well thought out! Each room has a fridge that is stocked up with large bottles of water, k cups, teas, creamers and sugar. They give you plenty of towels. There's also bath salts to use for when you enjoy the outdoor tub. They make sure the check in process is smooth and easy. There's also housekeeping available (free only if you stay 3 nights or more). There is a beautiful common outdoor area with a fire pit, swings and seating. There is also a common area with a large living room that has a microwave. I can't stop singing praises about this place! Sacred Sands absolutely rocked it! read more

We loved it here! Incredibly relaxing, peaceful. Gorgeous decor and a very handy location. Well-appointed rooms, with a nice mini-fridge and pod-based coffee maker. Comfortable and beautiful outdoor sitting areas. It was so quiet here in the middle of the week. We could just lie outside on the patio bed and look at the stars. We will definitely be back! What a beautiful and absolutely energizing property. I booked a night for my birthday and immediately regretted not booking more days once I stepped foot onto the grounds, I immediately felt the energy and calmness of the land. 4.5 stars. I stayed here with a friend back In July for two nights. I had never heard of this place and thought I got "stuck with the last resort" as I ran out of houses to book due to not planning ahead. But I was pleasantly surprised at how cool this place was. There are only two units so it's perfect in the time of social distancing. That said, be prepared to be somewhat isolated. I initially planned on traveling by myself but was joined by a friend at the last-minute, which was a blessing. Otherwise, I would have felt a little uneasy being all by my lonesome in this house in the middle of nowhere. Rooms are adequately-sized and has all of the amenities of a rental that you would need. If they don't have it, you can just contact the owners to ask for something. The shared spaces are also really neat and photo-worthy. I love the unit's outdoor tub and bed and general space, and once you see it, you'll definitely recognize it from some photoshoots or Instagram. The weekend we were there was an amazing time to see the heavens (between Neowise and six planets aligning). I loved being able to just stay on the outdoor bed, drink wine, and stargaze. The main purpose of my trip was to reflect and bond with my friend, and SS helped make that happen. Would definitely come back. read more

I went to my daughters wedding here such a beautiful place and you will have the most beautiful pictures ever they keep their grounds so spectacular even though the area where you dance is small it's big enough. they have a rooms for the bridal party separate rooms I thought that was nice. These Romans were actually living quarters not just a place for you to get ready you can stay at sacred grounds where are you are getting married I thought that and itself was awesome. They were very accommodating . They allowed you to bring in a lot of your own stuff you weren't stuck to their catering like most places and they had beautiful kitchen with everything you needed in there to cook the food I have the food catered at the location that was also different and awesome. I even lost a very expensive in memory earring there and thanks to Keith I think he's the owner he kept my number and he found my earring amazingly enough and called me. It's amazing that he had my phone number and that they found my earring two months later to me that means the angels look over this place. this place not only is a great place to have a wedding the people there have integrity and great morals and what a great place to have a wedding when the people in charge have this type of great character. The bridal suite if you will ....,,,,everything is outside it's 1000 degrees getting married there in the summer but it's so beautiful the tub is outside it's so romantic it's just a great place to have a wedding this set up is nice great desert wedding location with a great staff. From the moment my now-husband and I visited Sacred Sands, we knew it was what we were looking for in a wedding venue. We continued to shop around, but every other place we saw, we thought how it stacked up to Sacred Sands and nothing else could compare. This place is simply gorgeous, so relaxing, and provides a perfect backdrop for a wedding (or even just a desert getaway). One of the big reasons we decided to go with Sacred Sands is because of Scott + Steve, the owners. They were so calm and organized, and we really wanted to keep our wedding day fun and no-stress so it seemed like a great fit. They were responsive to emails (of which there were many, both from us and from my parents) and helped keep everything running smoothly on the day of the wedding. I also loved that the place didn't require a lot of decorating. Neither of us had the time to spend endless nights on DIY projects, so it was important to have a place that looked beautiful on its own. The desert landscape is so lovely, and the tasteful decor they have really sealed the deal. They were also generous and provided us with tables for desserts, the guest book, etc. We loved our wedding, and know that our guests loved it as well! The property itself is so amazingly beautiful that you won't even want to spend any money on additional decor! The property is laid out so perfectly for a wedding! Every single one of my guests was in awe of the location and the stunning views. The owners are so amazing. They are friendly and helpful and have excellent communication! There isn't a single question they won't answer for you. By the end of it, you'll leave feeling like they're your best friends. I literally can't rave about Sacred Sands enough. Incredibly zen. My husband and I came here for a weekend get away about two weeks ago. When you walk into the beautifully decorated rooms, the scent of eucalyptus fills the air and you are immediately transported to a sanctuary. Each room has a bed, shower with two heads (plus two jets), it's own private patio, outdoors bed, and jacuzzi. The hosts Steve and Scott are amazing hosts and great cooks. (Breakfast pancake soufflé, yum!) The entrance to Joshua Tree is just a mile away. Perfect for a quiet and romantic get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We spent the days hiking through Joshua Tree, enjoying the beauty of the park, and the evenings eating dinner in nearby towns, sipping wine in the jacuzzi, and staring at the stars. Bring your own wine/champagne. They have a mini fridge for your beverage equipped with chilled glasses and wine bottle opener. Love this place! read more

My daughter and now son-in-law had their fantastic wedding at Sacred Sands in October (sorry for the belated review). We began the search for a venue very early and basically made the decision after our first glimpse of this very special, intimate, and aptly named property. Our instincts proved correct...planning was easy with Scott and Steve who are delightful people. We were given access to the venue several times during the process and S&S were responsive to all our emails. The contract was straight forward and their vendor recommendations were extremely helpful. The actual wedding day was everything we could have hoped for and more... an enchanting sunset ceremony amidst the desert surrounds, cocktails and dining under a magical full moon, and 100 very happy people who danced the night away with the help of our great DJ. I/we highly recommend Sacred Sands and Scott and Steve...our guests raved about the wedding for days and everyone had a blast! Thank you SS and S&S for a marvelous, unforgettable day! My husband John and I held our wedding at Sacred Sands and I couldn't be any more thrilled about it. Scott and Steve were wonderful throughout the planning process every step of the way. When it came to the big day, the place was perfect. Everyone who stepped foot on the property couldn't help but to be in awe. My husband and I were just here last weekend spending out little min-honeymoon. We live in LA and wanted a quick getaway. We both have never been to Joshua Tree and have never tried a Bed and Breakfast place. Needless to say we were both very pleased with not only the natural settings of Joshua Tree but also this beautiful Bed and Breakfast. If you want to know about the amenities, I completely agree with all the other 5 star reviewers here. This place is definitely a nice little "lovers retreat" home. My favorite part was the outdoor bed where we slept under the stars. The extra care from the shampoos, clean towels, extra plate settings, to the clean sheets made the room so comfortable. But other than the nice deco, tea-tree oil smells, romantic outdoor settings. Scott and Steve were one of the bests hosts ever. I think any B&B hosts will have a hard time competing against them based on my book of standards for hosts. They were very inviting, so helpful with any questions you may have, and gave us all the privacy we needed. It felt like we were the only ones there. I especially loved the breakfasts they served. Very healthy, and presented beautifully. They even let us borrow a backpack for our hiking trip, because we left our at home . They gave us some great suggestions of places to visits and nature hikes inside the park. My husband and I can't wait to come back to this place. read more

My wife and I visited Sacred Sands in the few days just before Christmas for three days. All of the previous reviews are spot on. Our hosts, Scott and Steve were perfectly available yet also appreciate the fact that most people come for the quiet solitude. As for the rooms, they are really amazing and the design is impeccable. It's all about the details. The bed was fluffy and comfy, the IZOD robes were so smooth, the shower a fun treat in that it has not 2, not 3, but 4 or 5 settings - you'll have to experience it for yourself, the hot tub was scented with tea tree oil and the view from the room and outside area is really meditative. A short drive to the center of town and right outside the park. The breakfasts are healthy, well-portioned and well presented. Each day started with an assortment of fresh fruit (a couple of times sprinkled with a bit of cardamon for a distinct and pleasing flavor) followed by a small plate (danish pancakes, chilequiles (sp?) are among the highlights). Even the coffee was well-chosen - again it is the attention to small details which sets a place above the rest. These guys know what they are doing. Oh, and I didn't mention that we had a wind storm one night with gusts up to 60 miles which was a bit scary, but also spectacular to see the sudden changes of weather in the desert during the winter. It culminated in the morning with this big beautiful double rainbow, one arc which went all the way from one mountain range to the other on the other side of the valley. Hands down the most beautiful rainbow I've ever seen. By the way, Scott and Steve mention that with a couple more rains that wildflowers will be magnificent in the spring (late March?) should there be a few more rains this winter. Highly, highly recommended if staying in the Joshua Tree area. read more

I cannot say enough good stuff about Sacred Sands. We had a wedding here and Scott and Steve were a dream to work with. They answered questions promptly, were helpful with recommendations of vendors and had the chillest attitude. The grounds are exceptionally gorgeous. The buildings are tasteful and well built without overshadowing the natural beauty of the desert. Many venues we looked at were kitschy or too western themed for our tastes. Sacred Sands on the other hand felt both modern and artful. We had about 100 guests and there was plenty of space for them to wander the grounds, chat, dance or just stare at the sky. My husband and I stayed here with our two babies. It is a very cute place and the breakfast selections left in the fridge is a nice touch. The living room had very uncomfortable chairs. The kitchen was sparsely equipped with anything cooking wise. We loved the hot tub and fire pit outside. Our biggest issue was that the heat was not working and during our stay it was in the low 30s at night. Well with 2 small kids this was really not ok. We called and they tried to fix it, which didn't work. They gave us one space heater that was the kind that gets really hot and is pretty dangerous for little kids. So, we ended up going into the small town and having to purchase multiple space heaters because it was literally freezing outside. This happened on night 1 of our 3 night stay. We were pretty shocked the owners never checked in to see how we were doing with no heat. In addition, my husband had called them the day before our departure to see if it was possible to check out 30 minutes late and they said no. Ok, understandable if they have guests coming the next day they need to prepare for. But, they came down in their car 25 minutes before we needed to check out. We were already packed up and had our kids in the car, but it was so awkward, like they wanted to ensure we were out of there exactly on time. (we were and thought it was really off putting that they would be waiting for us to leave like that. It is a cute place and situated close to Joshua Tree but I would never stay here again. read more

There aren't enough superlatives to which I can apply to the truly wonderful experience that Steve and Scott offer at their B&B resort, Sacred Sands. They have obviously poured their hearts into making their vision come to fruition. So much planning, thought, and care goes into making sure that your experience is the best one possible. The B&B and surrounding property sit ideally on an elevated hill that lends itself perfectly for watching the sun set below on the town of Joshua Tree. In terms of proximity to Joshua Tree National Park, Sacred Sands is a mere one mile away from the entrance. I've visited the Park many times, and over the last several years, I remember driving by Sacred Sands (not realizing it was a resort) on my way into the Park and thinking to myself, "wow, somebody sure has an incredible slice of heaven." Steve and Scott are your gracious hosts and will see to it that your stay is what you want it to be. I get the feeling that you can have total undisturbed privacy or you could chat them up on all subjects, Joshua Tree and beyond. I would opt for the latter. They both seem well-versed on all things in the Park and are happy to give suggestions on where to hike or where to look for certain animals. And it's local knowledge that extends beyond what a guidebook is going to tell you. You get the sense that they intimately know and appreciate the Park. We stayed in the "North Room" and the attention to detail is nothing short of exquisite. Nothing kitschy or nick-nacky. Everything has obviously been well thought out and planned. Making everything work so well together clearly must be the product of years of planning, both on paper and in their minds. Personally, I would have been happy to spend my entire stay in the bathroom; it's that incredible. The shower itself is easily the best my wife and I have ever experienced. Built in windows, hand-laid river rock shower floor, multiple angle shower nozzles, high ceilings, and ample room. The outdoor setup is as described by previous reviewers. Outdoor shower, jacuzzi with scented water, a sitting area, and a sunning/outdoor sleeping platform. Much time was spent out here! And finally, the breakfast is definitely something to look forward to. Coffee, tea, water, fresh squeezed juice, and probably whatever else you might ask for was available. The food was healthy, good-portioned, local when possible, elegantly presented, imaginative and scrumptious. They inquired about any food allergies and were very accommodating to our schedule, as we had to get to Orange County to catch our flight on our final day there. Everything about the Sacred Sands experience is 5 star...the resort, the food, the location, the amenities, and most importantly - the hosts. It's only my opinion, but Sacred Sands is about disconnecting from your everyday travails, whatever they may be - and reconnecting - with yourself - with Nature - with your partner - with whatever that is important to you. read more

While much has changed in the world since my husband and I first sat down with Scott and Steve in 2007 to discuss the plight of cake in modern day society and the wedding we were then planning at the B&B, I'm happy to report that time has been nothing but generous and kind to this exquisite establishment. As local residents of Joshua Tree and certified/certifiable Crazy Desert Folk, my husband and I attended a Chamber of Commerce mixer and raffle about a year ago. After imbibing a few cocktails, I sashayed over to the raffle table to survey the proffers and almost choked on a piece of ice when I noticed that one of the prizes was a night at Sacred Sands B&B. Oh, holy night, batman! After successfully wrangling six dollars from my husband's wallet, I clomped back over to the raffle table and dropped the whole wad into the goldfish bowl for Sacred Sands. Now I've never won a raffle in my life, nor (come to think of it) entered one, so I was stunned when my number was called out later that night, and somewhat embarrassed to be the person going home with that "One Night Free" gift certificate in my sweaty little hand. I vowed to give the gift certificate to one of my very good LA friends who had been kind to me over the last year, and then left it at that. Flash forward a year later. It's been a really tough year for me, personally and professionally; I'm just starting to plan my husband's 41st birthday party; and that LA friend is still making excuses as to why she can't manage to drive beyond the LA city limits, not even for a free night at the swankiest overnight in the Mojave. [ I KNOW, RIGHT? ] Just call me Indian giver. Last weekend was GT's 41st and after dozens of our friends and family converged upon us, we escaped up Quail Springs Road to the B&B. We pushed through the gorgeous custom metal entryway (new since our last visit - nice job, guys) and walked the familiar planks. Even though we knew - we remembered firsthand just how magical the place was during our wedding - we still gasped when the door swung open, we still jumped up on that giant "if a bed were a boat" mattress and then collapsed into the raft of pillows, side by side, and giggled like little kids with pockets full of purloined candy. Later, I showered outside and watched the tourists cars wind slowly up the road towards the National Park entrance. If I squinted "just so" I could just barely make out my house, the cars in the driveway, and the barking dog in the yard. The party loomed, and I knew that guests were there, ready and restless. But for that one, long, blissful minute, standing there in the maturing light of the desert sunset, I had no responsibilities or obligations; nowhere to be, in particular, except here. And it was completely, and utterly magical. Our out-of-town guests agreed this was one of the most beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly executed overnight stays of their lives, and the four of us were blown away - again and again - by the delectable breakfasts that were served in two courses, al fresco, along with binoculars for spying on the 18 quail babies being herded from shrub to shrub. This was my first time staying in a Bed and Breakfasts. The hosts were terrific. They created the most beautiful space with so much attention to detail. The rooms are gorgeous and bring the elements of the outdoors....indoors. One of the best things about our room was that it had a hot tub with a window that looked out into the desert landscape. The meditation platform was more like an outdoor bed. You could literally sleep under the stars. Breakfasts were also healthy, delicious, and well balanced. The meals were definitely spa quality. Truly a romantic, peaceful, and private location. Loved it and highly recommend it! read more

First of all, I can't say enough good things about this place. I came to Sacred Sands for a relaxing weekend with my partner before our big move from the west coast to the east coast. It exceeded my every expectation. Pulling up to the Inn I was almost instantly relaxed. The setting was beautiful. Walking into the great room we were welcomed by our hosts for the weekend, Scott and Steve, who designed and built this beautiful get away. The room was incredible, no detail overlooked. The lighting was perfect, everything down to the carefully folded towels. The room itself was very modern, yet incredibly cozy. The outdoor space was perfectly laid out for relaxing in the sun or having a glass of wine in the spa under the stars. The views were amazing. Then there was our breakfasts. Great coffee waiting for you, hot and strong. Fresh fruit and breakfast food that looked as if it jumped from the pages of Bon Appetite. Everything tasted great. Whole foods, nothing processed. That was the other great thing about this place. Everything felt very organic. The structure itself was built from strawbale and clay and everything from the walls to the food had this wonderfully earthy natural comfort to it. Even the spa was treated with tea tree oil instead of gallons of chemicals. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to visit Joshua Tree. The Inn is also very close to the park, although you'll have to tear yourself away from your room first. Scott and Steve are amazing people who have really created a little bit of heaven. this was, hands down, the perfect place to stay in joshua tree. we went for two long days of hiking, bouldering and other outdoorsy activities. sacred sands was the perfect place to retreat to in comfort. the location is ideal, not far from the park entrance and just up the road from the "downtown" area. the vistas are spectacular and the rooms private, lush and cozy. we stayed in the north room, which was an utterly lovely combination of rustic and modern. a private, two person hot tub, exquisite indoor shower, and the outdoor bed were the touches that made this a definite place to return to. there were other guests there when we were and, like another reviewer said, we only vaguely heard murmuring voices at one point when we were sitting on the patio. scott and steve are wonderful hosts and they obviously understand upscale hospitality. they are appreciators of the desert and the natural environ and fascinating to speak with regarding the area and the park. they were also just as keen to leave us to ourselves when we chose to enjoy the solitude. the breakfast is top notch and thoughtful and they accommodate your dietary needs. you won't want to leave but when you do, you will feel rested, rejuvenated and restored. you are simultaneously immersed in the surroundings and removed from them; in a place that is as beautiful and as fierce as the desert, it will make all the difference. read more

We stayed here this past weekend and it was perfection. The Guest Suite is amazing. The best features: the hot tub (which was amazing at night for star gazing), the fire pit and chairs facing the gorgeous surroundings (desert hares, quail and lizards kept us entertained all afternoon), the bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept it, the kitchen was fantastic to cook in, the outside shower was fun for our son, the hanging bed is perfection. It's only a mile from the national park - we went hiking all day and it was so nice to come back to this suite for the afternoon and evening. It's an incredibly special place! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We LOOOOVED it! The guys are so great, breakfast is AMAZING and with only 2 rooms and each having such absolute privacy, its a great place for a romantic retreat! Every day the guys had great advice for hikes or places to stop, or restaurants to eat at and they were all spot on. They did such an amazing job building this place. The moment you walk in, you just feel relaxed and peaceful and totally secluded and yet the guys are right there and so friendly and the restful feeling also gives you such great energy for exploring the park or soaking up the sunshine (or the water int he hot tub). :) Its not the cheapest place in the world, but its worth the price. I love being able to be so close to nature (Joshua Tree National Park) with amenities you would find in a five-star hotel. The breakfast they provide is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend for a magical and calming experience. A few miles from the main highway but far enough away to unplug and recharge. You can hike right outside or go to the many hiking trails in the area and come back to enjoy a hot tub underneath the stars. The bottled water and quiche with local coffee and muffins are a nice addition. read more

My wife booked us here for a birthday getaway and I showed up with no pre-conceived notions (though I found out later she saw this in a mag as one of the best B&Bs on the West Coast) other than it was secluded and promised a relaxing weekend. Suffice to say, she undersold me, it was amazing. From the view, the tasteful decorating, and everything about the place, it was an oasis of relaxation. The breakfast is not to be missed, and carried us through a day of hiking all the way until dinner. Yummy food for breakfast with careful attention to presentation. Quiet and peaceful and private hot tub is amazing. Closest to park entrance of any hotel. Only two rooms so you feel serene. It would be nice to add some bottled water to the room though. read more

It's been three years since our wedding at Sacred Sands, so it's maybe time for a review. First off, the property is absolutely gorgeous! It was a bit of a hard sell to get all of our guests out to the desert for the big day but, once they came, everybody understood. Scott and Steve were wonderful to work with, as well. They listened to what we wanted and made it happen. We particularly appreciated that they were able to hook us up with local vendors (caterer, florist, officiants), as that made the whole process of remotely planning a wedding so much simpler. Last, the breakfast! It was so tasty, and we even got to see kestrels, coyotes, and roadrunners as we ate. read more

Simply amazing! My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Sacred Sands a few weeks ago and we are still talking about it. After finding the B&B listed in a Joshua Tree travel book, we decided to stay there for stay two nights. When we arrived we were blown away. The property is immaculately kept and the rooms themselves are simple, spotless, rustic, and beautifully decorated. If Joshua Tree wasn't such a beautiful place, you wouldn't want to leave the room. Accommodations aside, Scott and Steve were phenomenal hosts. They gave us excellent hiking recommendations that helped us make the most of our limited time in the park, and also gave us great recommendations for food and information on the area. The breakfasts that were prepared were equally as amazing. Each of the courses complimented each other and the flavors were incredible. The bottom line is that Sacred Sands is worth the splurge. You won't regret the money spent to stay here and you will meet some great people. We can't wait to go back! read more

This desert oasis is heaven on earth! The proprietors, Scott and Steve, make your stay here pleasant and unforgettable. They are wonderful cooks; they make a different, delectable breakfast every day. The room is serene and the outdoor hot tub (equipped with privacy fences and a window to check out the sunset) is the perfect place to melt away stress, worries and any other toxic vibes you brought with you before you entered this sanctuary. We stayed here recently for our honeymoon and it made the trip one of the best adventures I've ever had in my life. Joshua Tree is a magical place and Sacred Sands is a must-see place for anyone visiting the area. It's located close to the National Park and there are tons of great eateries and things to do in the area. Book your stay here asap. read more
