Beautiful timepiece nestled in the middle of Oak Glen offering guided tours, bed and breakfast, and ample space for all your needs. This includes a large parking lot and common ground for weddings/events. The properties offers a vast amount of greenery and nature to explore as well. We were able to enjoy a peaceful stay and experienced all the property had to offer.

    Stairs to nowhere and sign.

Kirsten and Tim really went above and beyond to ensure every guest felt welcome and comfortable. They kept staff organized and happy, and ensured my sisters' wedding was a splendid celebration for all! A huge thank you to them and every person who worked this weekend. The manor and land is gorgeous, the rooms were extremely cozy and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the private balcony provided a calming place to enjoy some quiet time when needed.

This place is great for events. Came here for a Halloween event and it was so much fun! I definitely want to come back to stay a night in a possibly haunted bed and breakfast.

Morning breakfast. Relaxing way to start the day!

Neat historical home. Perfectly located to explore Oak, Glen and other nearby areas. Kirsten and Tim were awesome hosts. Super friendly and personable. Morning breakfast at 9:30AM was a real treat. Plan to visit again!

A year ago or so we found SOM and reached out as we were planning a large wedding for today (2/22/2022)! We absolutely fell in love with Kirstin and Tim! They showed us what they are doing with this BEAUTIFUL manor. From that day we knew we'd have our wedding here and today was the day! We were stoked to find they did such an amazing job with our branch archway, all the floral arraignments and just everything was absolutely amazing and better than we expected! The care they took for us was unmatched to anything we could have imagined and they made our day so special! LGBTQIA friendly as well!

Gorgeous Manor set in the Forest of Oak Glen. We just had my daughters wedding there for 80+ guests and we had the best time ever! The grounds are gorgeous and the amazing owners Kirsten & Tim made sure the event went off without a hitch. The wedding party was able to stay at the Manor the night before which made it so convenient. They even served us a huge breakfast in the morning as we were prepping for the wedding. Kirsten is so on top of the details that were just able to relax and enjoy the day. I hope to have another wedding there someday! LGBTQ friendly was the icing on the cake

The welcome sign they had out for us!

Stone Oak Manor is an absolutely PERFECT venue! Not only are the hosts amazing and sweet, but the property is well kept, everything is beautiful and charming, and it's improving every single day! My (then) fiancé and I toured this place about a year before our wedding and fell in love with it! When we arrived for our wedding day, there was a sign greeting us, everything had been prepared, and a beautiful arch had been built! I can't say enough good things about this place, Kirsten and Timothy! They truly made the happiest day of my life even more perfect than I could have dreamed of.

Kirsten and Tim are amazing! They are so kind and helpful, working on making your stay or your special event the best the best it can be! Attention is paid to every detail. The old stone house and grounds hold so much history, many 100+ year old trees, the house itself is over 100 years old. Any event will be better if you have it here!

I am very plugged into the Big Bear rental community and have used other property managers in the past. I have also stayed as a guest in vacation rentals in Big Bear prior to owning my own. I was told years ago when we were looking for a new manager that Leanne was "best on the mountain" and after 4+ years I have to say we agree with that sentiment. She has her own properties up in Big Bear as well so she really understands what's important. She has somehow managed to form a highly effective team which is no small feat in Big Bear as it is often difficult to find hard workers! That alone is very impressive. Leanne has kept our place booked consistently these last 4 years even with all the challenges of being on the mountain (fires, blizzards, road closures, etc). If I ever reach out directly to Leanne she always responds promptly so she is very accessible to the home owners. Some of the reasons we left our last prop manager were because we were getting bad renters, last minute cancellations, and they did not support a higher end of service we wanted to provide (more amenities, personal touch, etc). With Leanne everything runs very smoothly and we have never been told they could not support what we wanted to do. I recommend Leanne all the time to others and some of my friends are also using her for their vacation rentals as well. If you are looking for a property manager I recommend interviewing 4-5 as they all vary and you want the best fit for your situation. Leanne was so easy to talk to and I read her management agreement in advance before deciding. You can learn a lot about the different PMs by reading there contracts!

On the wildlife issue: Whether it was rodent or bat droppings isn't the point -- either way, it's a health and safety hazard, and that's what my review addressed. On timing, we were told cleaning was signed off around 3:40-3:50 PM and we weren't given access to the unit until nearly 4:00 PM. By the host's own timeline, that leaves only a 10-20 minute window for this to have happened after cleaning -- or the unit wasn't properly cleaned to begin with. Either way, it should have been caught before a family with small children moved in. As for the house rules disclosing general wildlife possibility in Big Bear: a blanket disclosure doesn't excuse an active, uncleaned health hazard in the room our kids were about to sleep in. On "solution after solution": When we first called the property's staff, we were told there was no reported active issue at the unit -- no remediation or transfer was offered at that point. It was only after we contacted Airbnb support directly that a possible move to another property came up, and by then we chose to stay with family instead rather than lose more time getting our kids settled. To be clear, we never requested compensation, a discount, or anything beyond the refund for the booking we could no longer stay at and the playpen deposit. The mention of a future discount, and later a free stay at the owner's personal cabin, were both raised unprompted by her staff and the owner -- I only followed up to ask about the discount after her team had already brought it up, and we ultimately declined the cabin offer. On the Venmo/deposit point: This wasn't in my original review because it wasn't relevant to it; the owner raised it. For accuracy: we received both the Airbnb refund and the playpen deposit refund in full. The mismatch was in urgency -- the deposit was requested and paid promptly to get our kids settled, but getting it returned took three follow-up messages over a full day before it was processed that night. On the unannounced visit: While I was upstairs on the phone with Airbnb support trying to resolve this, the host sent an unfamiliar man to the property without confirming who was there or where. My wife and our two young children were downstairs. Regardless of exact positioning, having a stranger show up unannounced during an active safety complaint is not okay. On the personal outreach: We heard nothing from the owner personally until after this review was posted. At that point, she called, left a lengthy voicemail, and sent numerous long texts to my personal phone. Some of what was shared in that contact was inappropriate and unrelated to the situation, and I won't detail it here out of respect for her privacy -- but the manner and timing of it were unprofessional. Our original review reflected an accurate, factual account of what happened. We stand by it and won't be engaging further in the comments.

Unfortunately, it ultimately ends with you having dispute charges with your credit card company even after you have followed all the rules New Spirt Vacation Homes sets outside of the Vrbo platform. Here it is - all spelled out chronologically and can be backed by 40+ messages back and forth with BOTH Niki and Monica, who appear to be the same person, at least in the way they message customers 8/28/2025 $653.35 paid in full for reservation for 3.23.26 - 3.26.26 12/11/2025 New Spirt Vacation Homes removed listing from Vrbo and directed me to view all details on their own website, not via Vrbo which made me very uneasy, so I canceled my reservation per Vrbo's timely allowances. Same day I am messaged by Nikki telling me to fill out an additional refund form outside of Vrbo and that they will take no less than 30 days to complete the refund request per their right with the CA SB 644 (California Senate Bill 644 )which legally allows them to do so. 12/19/2025 The additional email form not received via email from this company. I messaged to inquire and was basically scolded by Nikki and asked why I 'did not advise them earlier that they did not send the form?' Well, because it was not my responsibility to send it! 1/23/2026 More than 30 days past, still no refund. I messaged New Spirit Vacation homes to inquire. I was told by Nikki that "half our accounting dept. is out sick, and I will personally process the refund today." 1/24/2026 Nikki messages me now stating that "Our merchant services account does not allow us to process a refund with charges that are ran over 180 days prior to request so now we need to mail you a check." Keep in mind that the date of purchase was 8/28/2025 and the date I requested a refund was 12/11/2025. Simple math shows this is a lie, as 180 days after purchase date would have been 2/24/2026! 1/24/2026 Messaged a second time by Monica stating that she is "forwarding this request for a check refund to be issued by the CEO and mailed to you today." 1/30/2026 No check received. I message again, Niki this time lies to me stating that "I work night shift, but the check was cut and mailed out yesterday so it should arrive shortly." 2/4/2026 No check received, asked status, no response 2/5/2026 Messaged them a second time, said I will be starting a dispute with my credit card company. 2/6/2026 Next day Niki responded, "I personally tried to run your card (last lie was she mailed refund SAME DAY on 1/30/2026) and it would not allow, I will need to reach out to see what is going on." ******************* THAT WAS THE LAST MESSAGE FROM NEW SPIRT VACATION HOMES, AFTER THAT I INITIATED A DISPUTE WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL THE END OF MARCH 2026 ************* So why am I siting here wasting my 30-minute lunch break typing a novel? Well, remember that neat little California Senate Bill 644 (SB 644) mentioned earlier by Nikki as the reason for not refunding anyone before 30 days; basically 'because they can'? Guess what, it protects us too as consumers from unethical companies like New Spirt Vacation homes that regularly practice cash grabbing, lies, unnecessary delays and harassment with their refund process in hopes you give up and do not fight. I am not the one who gives up easily, so I have officially filled a consumer complaint with the State of California Department of Justice Consumer Complaint Office of the Attorney General I HIGHLY recommend you do so as well if they are taking longer than 30 days to issue your refund which is in a direct violation of the CA SB 644 and punishable with up to $10,000.00 fine. We were a few days away from closing escrow on a house in Big Bear when we started looking for property management companies. Based on the 100% positive yelp reviews and great initial conversation with Miguel, we decided to go with CA Mountain Rentals to help us manage the property. Immediately paid off. The day after we signed paperwork with him (which was also the day we were to transfer the funds and close escrow on the house), Miguel decided he wanted to stop by the new place to check it out (a testament to his thorough nature... we didn't ask him to stop by, he just did). When he did, he noticed something that our realtor, property inspector, and seller/sellers agent all failed to mention or notice... the fact that both the parking spots and a decent portion of the stairs were built on city property, meaning it would not be allowed in the vacation rental program (a big part of the equation for us), and the city could tell us at anytime that we needed to rip the stairs down and move THE MOUNTAIN about 12 feet back, probably a 6 figure, months long project! After confirming this with the city (also coordinated by Miguel), we were able to get our deposit back and walk away. We were roughly an hour from going to the bank to wire the money when Miguel called to let us know. Major bullet dodged. Original real estate agent fired. Enter EXP realty. Working with Miguel & Amber on the real estate purchase side was equally fruitful and easy. They were incredibly responsive & insightful about the local market, introduced us to contractors, and even went by the local Spectrum office for us to help get internet setup when the corporate office was being uncooperative! We just closed escrow on a new (and much nicer) house 60 days later and couldn't be happier. Needless to say, they've gone above and beyond and it's been a pleasure to work with them. We couldn't recommend them highly enough, and look forward to doing business with them for a long time.
