All I can say is WOW. From the amazing property we stayed at to the amazing service from Ally and Ernesto at Destination Big Bear. It was a last minute trip after the my dad's funeral and it was just the perfect, easy, relaxing get away that we needed. Big bear is a short drive from LA and there was plenty of activities to do around town with the family (went during the summer). The cabin, Above and Beyond, was even more breath taking in person with tons of things to do in the house, seating/space galore, and fully stocked to make it feel like home. I always book with Destination Big Bear they have a huge inventory of cabins in all price ranges and styles. Ive done value to luxury and the cabins were always spotless and the process easy peasy. During my stay a forest fire actually started a few miles away and power was shut by the utility company for a few hours, DBB kept me updated throughout and even offered a partial refund if I wanted to cut my stay short (I stayed). Their office is conveniently located in the village with plenty of parking and friendly staff if you have questions or need help. They also have partnerships with local stores that offer discounts to DBB renters! Not sure why you wouldn't book through them.

Booking with this company was easy and straight-forward. We called the morning of our stay and Ally (Alice) was so incredibly helpful and kind. She was able to give us an early check in which was so helpful since we were planning on driving up there early to get groceries before heading up the mountain and hopefully beat traffic. There was a ton of snow this past week so we knew it was going to be a busy weekend! Once we arrived at the location, the place was clean and ready for us. We did have some issues with the spa (AKA user error). I was able to speak with a maintenance guy right away who assured us that we needed to cover the spa, turn the jets on and let it heat up. After a few hours, the spa was at a steamy 101 degrees and felt so nice :) Checkout was easy as well. Communication was just right from this company and we all enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much for the amazing stay!

AMAZING experience!! House is sooo beautiful and has everything we needed We called for help with the movie theater & BRENT came right away and helped us and was very pleasant and nice Will definitely be coming back!!

Be nice if everything worked as expected. When you have no heaters or hottub makes for a sad stay. We did make the best of it .the cabin was awesome. Just would have been nice to have 100% working amenities.

Beautiful trees all around the city

First off the place is huge, we were so comfortable; we played hide and seek in the many rooms. The place was clean and linen was fresh. All the little details acting the cabin make you feel as if you are in a different time zone surrounded by peace and tranquility. This was our first time in Big Bear and OMG! I enjoyed every moment. They even had a folder with suggested activities and places to visit/eat. I LOVE this place and we are definitely coming back. Special thanks to Adan V. He was so helpful, polite, and friendly he truly went above and beyond. They truly note the meaning of Excellent Customer

Update: a refund of 1 day and our deposit all refunded no issues... The stay: First thing i am not basing this off the performance of the staff.. I think they don't have control over actually fixing things. contracted out. Location: Waterview Retreat 1. House was tired looking inside as it looked as though it had not been dusted or updated in a while. carpets old and shelves dusty. outside could have used a leaf blower. On check in, the first thing we had to do is sweep the backyard with a seriously pathetic broom. with a bad back, not good, I was looking forward to a soak. see #3 :-( 2. No working fireplaces on our first night 40 degrees. no working fireplaces living room (still dead). Bedroom (maintenance came next day and fixed). Maintenance was able to get one working next day(bed room). living room is dead and requires parts. 3. Hot tub- my opinion most important. As it was the reason for choosing this site. Night one would not heat hotter than 85 degrees. really needed it after the drive and yard cleanup. Was able to get it working for 1 day then no heat again. Maintenance never showed to fix the hot tub so we lost out on that. The tub shut off completely. so sad. :( 4. Master Bedroom.... has no dresser or shelf to unpack into. Have to live from suitcase on the floor. The Bed... In the master bedroom is a bed that sits 4.5 feet off the ground. Bad back or bad hip forget about it. This bed has no step ladder or elevator. also i think is unlevel and tilts towards to headboard. 5. Upstairs bedroom... one of the beds must have come from a hotel 30yrs ago. had a bad divit from long time use. could even call it a crevasse hard to sleep in a hole. 6. Gameroom... Projector is old and tired and needs a new lamp as it is very dark to see. Shuffleboard could use a level. Is almost unplayable due to bad unevenness. Xbox/Wii games all bad. tried 6 to 8 games and gave up. All scratched ! should be sent out to be fixed. Staff were always there to answer the phone or texts and seemed very helpful. We just would have liked to have a working hot tub & fireplace. i am sure they can't control their vendors very tightly. I think all our bad experience could have been avoided if someone would have went to the property and got it ready for our check in. Maybe the cabin sat empty too long i dont know.....all i know is we did not get the experience we were hoping for. If you read the past reviews you can see a pattern of not fixing or cleaning anything until their are people in the cabin to report it. So basically no one is going to these properties and testing for move in radyness. OK now Here are the GOOD THINGS! The cabin setting was great peaceful and quite. Cabin was huge and very rustic. Property was ok some construction and unfinished yard was not to bad could have let us know. Wild critters very cool. Pontoon boat rental was awesome and really pushed this review to get to 3 stars. could have been 5 star EASY ! where stars are lost. Having to sweep and clean with no fireplace -1 star no working hot tub -1 star Will stay with DBB again will just make sure a pre check in is done. hope this is helpful... :-)

Not much rental activity except in the winter, damage to the property that went unreported by housekeeping, and just the general vibe that our small cabin was a very low priority for them. Finally, we made the decision to change management this summer after we completed a remodel. I found Leanne in a Big Bear FB group online along with several other PMs who responded to a post I made about looking for new management. Leanne was the only one who provided helpful, tangible information when she reached out to me. We spoke and then I decided she and SkyHigh cabins would be our new managers. The onboarding process was smooth and detailed. They are extremely professional and walked me through the different stages of getting ready to "go live" on the various platforms they use. It took about 6 weeks to get everything completely switched over. But when we did go live in mid-October 2025, all I can say is WOW!! We've had 12 reservations made in just over a week's time! We didn't have 12 reservations in the last year total with the old company, so this has been very, very exciting for us. Aside from all of that, Leanne, Jennifer and their team are very communicative and helpful. If you are looking for new management, I cannot recommend them enough. Just do what they tell you to do, use their vendors, and follow their lead. They have figured out the algorithms and rental platforms to such a degree that your property will actually start to pay for itself. We were on the verge of selling our cabin, but now, we will be able to hold on to it. Call them today!!

What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin for anyone to deeply relax and enjoy the natural wonders of Big Bear. Thank you, Melia, for his wonderful experience.

The cleaners didn't show up until 4:20. We had to leave and come back, and didn't actually get into Chalet Des Ours until after 5:30pm which completely threw off our first night since we had dinner plans. The door locks were broken - like actually broken. Every single time we left the house we had to yank the doors super hard to get them to lock and even then we weren't sure if they were actually secure. We were genuinely worried someone would break in and steal our stuff. How is this even allowed to be rented out with non-functioning locks? Then after we checked out they hit us with a $95 charge claiming we left the hot tub dirty. The water was cloudy when we got there that first night - looked exactly like their photo. We only used it twice, covered it both times, and put the temp back down like we found it. We were only there 2 nights. But of course we didn't think to take photos when we arrived because we didn't expect to be blamed for their poor maintenance. The whole thing felt like they don't actually take care of Chalet Des Ours and then charge guests when things go wrong. Between the late access, broken locks, and getting blamed for a dirty hot tub that was already dirty, I can't recommend this place. There are way better rentals in Big Bear where the owners actually care about keeping things maintained and not screwing over their guests

This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Does anyone else notice there are only 5 star reviews on their Big Bear Cabin website? Good thing we have other options on google & yelp to make a review!

Take pictures of the cabin when you arrive and when you leave. The condition of the cabin was OK and i had no major issues during my stay. My problems started two days after i got home. I received a request from the booking agent for $500! The message read: 'Thank you for taking care of the deck repair. Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. This company turned my great vacation into anxiety when i came home. I would never rent with them again. Be professional, do you diligence and don't accuse your renters of damage because you don't adequately check your properties in between rentals. -Renee

We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. Also so many on property amenities and activities that can keep your family busy. At the time of our visit, the winter blizzard just had passed and left the property with tons of inches of snow. Never had to leave the property for snow play. All for free. CONCERNS PRIOR: booked through booking.com and was afraid of bad service or last minute cancellations by the resort as said by previous reviewers. SERVICE: 5/5 Welcoming and friendly COMFORT: 5/5 Beds including the murphy bed was comfortable IN ROOM AMENITIES: 5/5 Full kitchen, with plates, utensils, cookware, fridge with freezer, oven, microwave, and basic seasonings (salt, pepper, chili flakes etc). No rice cooker though. Washer and dryer, private outdoor propane grill. Hair dryer and extra toilet paper and tissues, trash baggies. Even your own dustpan, broom, vacuum. CONS: Sensitive smoke detector. Sets off instantly when cooking in the kitchen. Heard the other nearby neighbors alarm go off too. Bobby the maintenance guy was so kind and let us know that it wasn't uncommon to go off. Made us feel better as it was embarrassing loud and frequent. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT: gets cold in big bear despite the room heater. Would love to see the resort include disposable house footwear/hotel slip ons for walking in the unit. And a freezer in their little shop for frozen snacks/ice cream for last minute sweet cravings. Would I stay here again? 100%. Also, if you're staying on the bottom unit, it is common to hear the above units foot steps. Luckily it wasn't that bad.
