I would highly recommend looking at other options for lodging in Big Bear. When I arrived in the evening, I found that none of the day's snow that had fell in the parking lot had been cleared. I was able to squeeze into a spot thanks to 4WD and a lift on my truck, but I was parked on top of no less than 4 inches of snow after I had to shovel it out. When I went inside to check in and addressed the parking lot situation, the lady at the front desk just nodded and asked if I'd like to upgrade and spend $250 more to go into a suite. The room was alright but the shower curtain fell out of the wall as I showered. I looked at the plastering and it looked like it was glued on. The moister of the shower must have been eroding away at it. The next day, Friday, I was up relatively early (7:00am) to find that multiple cars had parked in the driving part of the parking lot, effectively parking no less than 10 vehicles in. I called the number left on the office door multiple times and finally got an answer after 10min or so. The man who answered said he was not on site and would be in around 8am (45min away). 20 minutes later he walked out of one of the rooms where it was clear his family lived on site. I showed him that multiple cars had parked the patrons in and he said he knew who it was. He knocked on the door of one of the car's owners who I assume was his family member due to the fact that they spoke in what I believe was Hindi. The new man delayed and smoked a cigarette first, then complained that he did not have a snow scraper. I provided my own. He moved the first car, walked to another room (another suspected family member), received another set of keys and then moved another car. I asked the owner why he let his family park the patrons in and he said there wasn't any parking. I proposed they removed the snow as it fell to keep more spots open or park across the street and he basically waved me off. The whole process probably lasted an hour and a half which prevented me from parking at the ski mountain lot. To their credit, the staff was shoveling snow off the walkways when I returned at 3pm, but they did not clear the ice off the stairs which caused some trepidation walking up. Overall, look for better options in Big Bear. read more

We went here last week for a two day getaway. It's a cool little lodge to visit. It had a Jacuzzi in the room, two separate queen size beds. A fireplace and a full stove with microwave and small refrigerator. The only negative thing was I could not get the cable box to work the first night and I couldn't get the manager to come out and fix it. They told me just to call back in the morning which I did and they still never came out. Somehow, it started working on the second day. It's really close to the downtown village shopping area. And right across the street there is a bowling alley and a mine shaft roller coaster which is literally walking distance. There were also ants in my room, so it wasn't the cleanest place. There is also a pool at this location that was pretty clean and they provided towels. I probably would visit her again. read more

"Looks Good From Far, But It's Far From Good!" If you're thinking of staying at Fireside Lodge in Big Bear based on the photos -- don't make the same mistake I did. Driving by, it looked decent enough. But once I checked in, it became painfully clear this place is run by owners who care more about saving pennies than delivering even a basic guest experience. From the start, red flags were flying: my room key and Wi-Fi instructions were handed to me in a worn, obviously reused sleeve, sitting among a pile of other equally overused inserts -- a tiny but telling example of the corner-cutting that defines this property. Walking the grounds, things only got worse: the place is poorly maintained, the outdoor furniture looks like it was scavenged off a curb with a "free" sign attached, and the area outside our room reeked of weed from guests casually smoking in flimsy plastic chairs. Inside the room? Let's just say I seriously questioned whether the bedding had been changed. The whole place gives off the kind of vibe that makes you want to sleep in your clothes -- not because it's rustic, but because it's neglected. After a long day of driving, paddleboarding, and hiking, all I wanted was a hot shower and sleep. But the overall condition of the lodge made that nearly impossible to enjoy. I booked two nights (thankfully with the help of Trivago that saved me over 20% but I didn't end up booking through them, only showed the front desk the rate on their site), but once I realized what a dive this was, their arbitrary 30-minute refund policy had already expired. I ate the second night's cost and booked a new place -- I simply wasn't willing to endure another night here. Sure, they could slap on a coat of paint or replace their junkyard patio furniture, but that won't change the underlying issue: this is a bare-minimum operation run by owners who clearly put zero value on guest comfort or dignity. Do yourself a favor: spend a few bucks more and stay somewhere else. Fireside Lodge might look okay from the outside, but it's far from a restful or respectable experience. read more

Suite comes w a kitchen- stove didn't work coffee pot was nasty. Didn't feel comfortable. Cold broken tile floors. Randomly 2 trash cans by door- had the aesthetic of a dennys bathroom . Luckily sheets and towels were clean. Paid $250. I wish I would have paid $150 more for a better hotel. Fireplace was nice- wood $10 extra. In the end it got the job done. For the price this was a great location to the Village, restaurants and shops. Also a mile from Summit. Place was clean and had easy parking. Rooms near the lake and also some have a fireplace. Walls are thin so we were glad we went during off days. Needed shampoo and soap refilled but managers were easy to get in touch with. WiFi was spotty but we didn't need it much. This location is at a hotel/cabin site. The actually cabin is very dirty when you arrive. If you have a dog you pay $40 when you arrive to the site not on Airbnb. We had a few odd encounters with the front desk person. We had cabin 18 and were told to park in a designated space then he allowed one of the neighbors across the street to park alongside the cabin. When asked if he could speak to the neighbor he told us to go to the neighbor's house and speak with him about moving it. They offer room service but you have to place by 8:30PM. They didn't deliver a portion of our order then said the kitchen was closed. The front desk makes you sign a waiver and offer a fire service but if you call and request the service he will deny it. When going to the front desk to purchase wood we witnessed a sign that displayed open rooms available but when someone came in speaking Spanish the front desk guy stated "none of that." The gentleman requesting a room and he asked in English and the front desk guy said he would not give him a room. Honestly really odd behavior at this location. For 600 for one night I would rather go anywhere else. read more

Room # 3 had everything we needed! My husband and I stayed just overnight. To our surprise the room had a kitchenette, fireplace and a hot tub. Although outdated, the room was pretty clean. Our room got pretty warmed, so we opened the windows for some fresh air. We heard animal sounds, which was awesome! The comfortable bed was a huge factor in our deep sleep. We were refreshed the next day. The staff at the office was friendly and attentive. I wouldn't given the lodge a full 5 star, but the early checkout time of 10:00 AM was a bit unfair. Other than that, this lodge was great. I've stayed in other lodge when visiting Big Bear, but FIRESIDE LODGE, so far, is on the top of my list. read more

This place is so run down. The pictures don't match the advertisement. Everything is covered in dust and old. My friend stayed in room 22 and her shower head literally fell off. Her room had no phone to even call the desk. My room 24 was not appealing. There was an extension cord dangling out of the wall. There is no space for your stuff. The carpet was disgusting. The people who stayed there were rough. The room smelled so gross. Would not come back. This place needs a complete makeover. There is no maintenance at this place whatsoever. Everything is dusty even the fan that they include. The bbq that they advertise is covered is thick spider webs. There is no lakeside view unless you look between two buildings. It's loud and squeaky. I thought my upstairs neighbors were going to fall through the ceiling at night. Do not waste your money here. read more

A quaint and cozy stay in the heart of Big Bear. Walking distance to everything you need and want to see! Easy parking, fireplaces in the rooms, and the rooms also come with a microwave/refrigerator/coffee maker. The owners were very welcoming and gracious; they allowed us late check-out for no additional fee. There is a heated pool, however we did not use it. The downsides were that the walls were very thin, and we could hear the guests above and to the sides of our room. Additionally, the bed was not particularly comfortable, and the sheets felt cheap. Some tweaks could be make to give this a five star review, however I found it to be a good value and had everything we needed for a getaway weekend in Big Bear. read more

We were in room 26. There were bed bugs on the bed!!! And when we reported it the next morning, the woman was saying: why didn't you call us?! Our response was: it was 3am. 19 degrees outside. Who in their right mind would call?! Everyone had to go into the room the next morning to inspect the beds.... There were multiple bed bugs alive when the manager and his wife maybe went to inspect it. They kept saying that they always wash the sheets. BUT clearly, bed bugs doesn't live on sheets. It's on the mattresses!! I'm highly allergic to bed bugs. I've asked for a full refund for the night we stayed, and they gave us a whopping $50. I had to go to the emergency department. See dermatologists and had spent 400$ in medical bills just on one day! SMH. AND THEY HAD THE NERVE TO BLAME IT ON US THAT WE BROUGHT IT. read more

Not only was the customer service bad but the rooms have SPIDER WEBS and SPIDERS crawling on me and my family. Pillows are stained. No soap the soap containers were empty and, it smelled HORRIBLE!!! I do not wanna leave this place ANY star!! BED BUGS ALL OVER THE BED!!!! Disgusting! We got woken up by the bites around 2:30am. Could not sleep soundly!!! Had to sleep ON TOP OF THE SHEETS WITH NO BLANKETS BECAUSE WHERE ELSE ARE WE GONNA SLEEP ? In the car?? Out where there's snow??? We told manager right away in the morning. Their response? And then says "its probably the guests before you" then implied maybe we're the ones who brought them there?? Really???? We were only there ONE NIGHT. Didnt even get to bed til midnight! In the morning, two housekeepers and the manager herself saw the bed bugs ALIVE AND CRAWLING ON THE SHEETS. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK! My sister is highly allergic to bug bites! Last minute trip and I have stayed here before during Covid so I knew this is where I was going to stay. I really love this place. I love the location, walking distance to the village. The rooms are nice and clean, the balcony is amazing. The rooms are very rustic but it adds to the charm. The stove, mini fridge, fireplace, microwave is everything you need to be comfortable. The room we had, had 2 full bathrooms also. Room 14. The pool is heated to 80+ degrees so we did go in the pool. I will always only stay here when in Big Bear Sunny and his staff were great an very friendly. I will be coming here again, and probably soon. read more

The price is higher than expected, but the stay was nice. The first impression was how unusual the layout is! It was like two rooms connected, but they were one room. Loved the dual fireplaces and two bathrooms with showers! I'd at stayed longer, we'd have used the kitchen. Everything was clean and staff were great. Also loved being able to walk to town, great location. Three things to note. There is only one bed, the couch is a tiny double. It's fine with children but definitely not for adults. You sleep perpendicular to the railing. If you are more than 5' 8", your head/feet will not fit. Second, there is no breakfast. For this price there is almost always some form of breakfast. Lastly, there is no jacuzzi at the pool. We paid $240 for one night. All prices in Big Bear have gone up. Definitely recommend, just know what you're getting. read more

I stayed there this last week end April 26th and 27th. I asked for a room with a spa and received it. There was no one at the office so you had to call a number and a young man came from the back. Where do I start? The gas fireplce had a twist timer that I could not get working so I called the number again and the manager that was next door came over and turned it and told me it will go on in two to three minutes. Then later I tried to turn the TV on and had no luck so I called again he told me I had to press the button on the box connect to the back of the TV why didn't he mention that when I checked in who would know to do this. Then a little while latter I needed some ice and noticed that the ice room was just next door I tried my key over and over again then knocked on his door he came out and tries his key then informed me that the lock was broken and he would fix it tomorrow. I had to drive into the village to get some ice. When I started filling the spa I started noticing an oily film on the top I'm sorry but that is disgusting and extremely irresponsible. I drained the water and then used the dish soap and a scrub sponge and sanitized the spa as good as possible. Finally the next morning I went to take a shower and the valve on the tub spicket would not transfer the water to the shower so once again I knocked on his door he came over and tries only to tell me that it was also broken and he would fix it later that day. There was a very small amount of water that tricked from the shower head so I made the best of it. I paid $180.00 for the room so I then told him I believe I am owed a discount he just walked out the door. The walkways were covered with coffee and soda stains the shrubs were cover with a scattered deck of cards and trash the hotel as a whole needs a serious make over and hopefully new ownership. Do your self a favor and stay as for away from this place as possible!!! read more

Room was really nice, overlooked the lake. Pool was great. A few bad things- our room floor was so dirty, we asked for a mop and broom. Only gave us like a swifter, the futon had dog hair all over it and I didn't feel comfortable letting the kids sleep on it, when we complained to the owner/manager he just said "yes dogs allowed" even though the sigh on the door says absolutely NO pets. We found black hair on our bed, (not our hair). Dust and water bottles under the bed. Like they didn't clean. The swifter they gave us was full of dust lol. The table in the room was full of funk. I used 2 wipes and it was still black. It's like they barley cleaned the room. We didn't even stay the night we left. read more

What a vile horrendous place Fireside Lodge is!!! The accommodation we were given, number 18, is best described and an over sized shed, and a rotting oversized shed at that. It was disgusting. when we went inside the place was dirty, freezing cold for some reason when it was 30 degrees outside!!! the bed sheets hadn't been changed, the bathroom door was hanging off the hinges dead flies in the bath, etc etc the list could go on and on!!! Also the location of Lodge 18, is opposite 2 other lodges (I use the word lodge as a real loose term!!) that were occupied by the owners of 'Fireside Lodge' and what a mess, loads of junk just laying around, they live like gypsys!!! The owners live like pigs and are dirty, rude disgusting people. The weirdest thing when we pulled up in the car park was one young lad, a family member of the owners, was strimming the dirt around he outside perimeter!!! There was no grass, he was just strimming the dirt and flicking stones everywhere including against our car. All very strange!!! Due to how disgusting the accommodation was, we refused to stay here and went and stayed at a Best Western Boutique hotel in the centre of Big Bear Lake, which was amazing. Please anyone even considering Fireside Lodge, please do yourself a favor DO NOT STAY HERE!! go and find anywhere else to stay, this place is disgusting and should be closed down its disgusting and inhabitable!!!! read more

i see the other reviews, it's a room by room thing. i booked the jacuzzi suite and they tried to talk me into a 2nd floor w view of lake. i was all want jacuzzi! and the room we had was basic but everything worked or my ex would have had a coronary. the second day we were there we had an angry blizzard and w the jacuzzi and fireplace i stayed in the water until my fingers wrinkled. my junkyard dog loved this place more than his humans ! and yeah i went down that steep hill towards LA w no chains. rolled past CalTrans and almost hit two cars that hmmm came out of nowhere but hey we lived! read more

Stayed in Suite #7 and had a good experience. Room came with a kitchenette, spa jacuzzi, two full baths. Check in was easy and the owner went to do a walk through before we brought our baggage in. He actually asked the housekeeper to give the kitchen sink another wipe down as he thought it needed it. Bathrooms were clean and stocked with plenty of towels. Pressure in the shower was great. The kitchenette had just enough supplies provided that we were able to cook breakfast daily and dinner one evening. Its a dated property but charmingly rustic. Parking is easy, pool area clean (heard it was heated but we didn't use it), AC and fans worked great. Our suite came with a little private patio with a picnic table and grill. Had we known about the grill we would've brought some charcoal to make dinner but not a big deal, now we know. The bed was comfortable and clean. After reading some reviews and being a pretty frequent traveler, I've gotten good at looking for bed bugs/critters. The bed/futon/room was perfectly fine. Great location, easy to get to the main village area and anything else we wanted. The owners were very nice and welcoming. Dog friendly although we didn't bring ours this time around.
