Awesome! We are honored to be the first to review Creek Runner Lodge - woohoo!
Our last minute 4th of July get-away was looking bleak after the smug Motel 6 receptionist told us "nope" to any vacancies (eff you, fatty)... so we just kept on trucking and headed down Big Bear Blvd. keeping our eyes peeled for a VACANCY sign. First one we saw, we veered over and pulled in. I wasn't expecting a vacancy - it's 4th of July, the place was a nuthouse of tourists and looky-loos and we passed too many NO VACANCY signs on the way in. So we figured "what the heck". We stretch and toddle out of the car and find ourselves in the middle of a bunch of tiny cottages and cabins. Roughly 2 minutes later we have the keys to one of them in our hands...wait...WHAT? Seriously. That easy. The sweet little old lady (that whispered she actually lives there) immediately handed us 2 keys to CHOOSE our cabins, preferred cash (split it with a credit card) and invited us to take as many VHS tapes as we wanted back to the cabin. I was overwhelmed! We weren't expecting SQUAT but instead found ourselves in a quiet little oasis not too far from the village (a 1.5 minute drive to be exact) with our own: kitchette with electric range, freezer/fridge, fireplace, dvd/vcr/tv, bbq grill, wifi, picnic table and heart-shaped jacuzzi! Obviously way, way beyond our expectations. So - Motel Sex was asking $89.99 for one person (probably 98.99 + tax for 2) on a Thursday/Holiday - and Creek Runner Lodge? $125 +tx. for both of us. With NO 2 day minimum stay! That's what I call a fargen deal. Now on to the cabin: everything was clean, quaint. No creepy stains or smells. No sink in our bathroom, though (looks like they took it out, weird) so we had to use the kitchenette sink (err..) and during our soak in the jacuzzi (with SEXY overhead mirrors) we noticed the foam was getting grey - I know that couldn't have been OUR filth, so that was a little gross. But, you know, when you're roughing it in the woods, this was a veritable luxury. Ping Pong tables and squeeky swings were fun, too. No - Creek Runner Lodge wasn't a 6 star hotel - but it was a fun, wonderful, friendly, quiet and delightfully unexpected experience on an otherwise hectic 4th of July weekday. Thanks CRL - we'll be em effin' BACK. read more
