Needs work! Don't leave your dogs kibble or water out. The ants come in. There were some bugs in the bathroom. The Ceiling fan was good to have. The bed is ok. The room could definitely use an upgrade. (The Carpet flooring sucks, a bigger tv would be nice) guess I have to pay more for a more comfortable nights sleep. They do have direct tv. If I could give them zero stars I would. My group booked our stay 2 months in advance and were cancelled a week before our arrival with no alternative accommodation from the lodge. This is peak season at big bear and I find it completely unprofessional that they can cancel whenever they feel like it with no compensation for the inconveniences they caused. read more

Had the pleasure of staying at Timberline Lodge two weekends ago. My family and I go to Big Bear every year for our annual winter vacation. Let's just say the employees there are the best around! There was a couch situation with our cabin and to accommodate us they gave us two cabins!! With being a family of 6 we were able to have two adjoining cabins and were able to put our 4 teen children in a cabin of their own while my husband and I had our own cabin. My husband also forgot his apple AirPods after we checked out and were already back down the mountain. I called them and they were able to locate them and arrange for them to be dropped off at UPS to be shipped to me. Talk about customer service! read more

The power went out at our house. My 4 year old and myself are sick, so we wanted to stay at a hotel. During the fires, we evacuated here. Last time we had a great time, and we're treated very well. This time was no different. We stayed in a different cabin, which was way better than the first one we stayed in. The kitchen area was really cool, small, and very cozy. Two rooms, each with a queen size bed. Bathroom right in the middle, and a fireplace in the living room. The room was clean, and pretty well insulated. The only complaint I would have, are the neighbors dogs, but, I can't fault the hotel for the neighbors. It was a great stay, even if it was just for one night read more

Our family has stayed at these cabins several times over the years. Our most recent visit was our best one yet, the staff is more than friendly and the fact that they have an adorable little kitten named Bosko that my daughters were able to pet and play with whenever they wanted was the cherry on top. This spot is a perfect economic rustic cabin that puts you right in the middle of big bear, close to everything with a restaurant right across the street. So If you are looking for an affordable place, with great management, this is a wonderful spot to stay. read more

Great affordable place to stay if you're looking for a hot shower and comfortable sleep before hitting the slopes the next day. Like most said if you're looking for luxury this is not it. But overall the experience was great in cabin #12! We loved that they were individual little cabins. 10/10 customer service. 8/10 cleanliness (sheets were clean but could use some dusting and wiping down of walls). Room 8/10 our king bed was comfy however the frame was sitting a top blocks to make it level lol but hey it worked with some adjusting though! Haha. All and all we loved the quaint, rustic atmosphere Big Bear is known for. We would definitely come back as we felt it was worth the price. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Just returned from this hell hole and lived to tell the tale. The carpet was filthy, smelly and torn. The kitchen floor had holes in it and sagged when my very small self stood on it. The bathroom door had a giant hole. The floor where the shower and floor met in the bathroom was rotted out. Wall paper was peeling off the walls. Red Bull cans under the couch. The "balcony" should be condemned. One of the smoke alarms had the batteries removed. (We fixed it, you're welcome). The kitchen blinds above the sink are broken and cannot be closed. Hope you're not over 5ft tall if you plan on showering. The one saving grace was the beds are super soft and comfy. You couldn't pay me to come back and stay there with my family. read more

Unit#5 beware of...umm ...no words well read below First I give A LOT of credit to the girl at check--in. Very well mannered and VERY professional and helpful. If only the rest of our stay was like this. They had a dog in the lobby which I didnt mind and my son loved playing with her. So gentle and playful. She was the owners sons dog whom stays there from time to time. But we will come bacl to that in a bit. We open the door and was hit in the face with an old mildewy wood smell. The entire place is like an old cabin youd find in the woods from the 70s. The sleeper sofa frame was broken and the arms were disgustingly black with grime build up. The rugs were, not sure of the color but, were of a dark blackish blue shade. No sitting places for anyone unless it was yourself or MAYBE one other person with you. And this was rented out as a 3 person cabin. Hmm. Needless to say.. we never took our shoes off to even walk around in our socks. Now... the kitchen didnt even go in there because i sure as hell wasnt cooking anything in this place. No ventalation for the stove exhaust gas. Not taking any chances. Next is the bedroom... after seeing the living room.. we decided to strip the bed and use our own linens. Including our own pillows. Even then, I didnt feel 100% certain if waking up with or without bedbugs. No room in the room for a queen size bed. I measured and there was at least MAYBE 8 inches between the foot of the bed and the wall. Next is the bathroom. Hmmmm... umm.. shower floor was dirty, like DIRT dirty not stained. We ended up putting a towel on the floor so we didnt touch the ground. AT ALL. There is a plus to this one.. the toilet was fairly new. But then you look at the floor tiles and they used roofing nails to hold down the tiles at the corners from coming up on a few. We were conteplating getting our money back after staying one night out of the two we booked and spending our money elswhere but we gave this place the benefit of the doubt. I was woken up by some guy clearing his nostrils and throat in the cabin below us. Which I assume that he was to be the owners son because he was walking the dog. Or the owner himself. Im not sure. Was not a pleasant experience. There was a small plus to this place. The playground which looked like a hippes paradise with cement life size pastel mushrooms and a random boat in the middle of the playground, was a nice place for my son to play around for an hour or so. Then we left for the day and wpuldnt come back until the dreadful thought of sleeping here. Pros...... playground and the front desk young girl with cool looking purple hair and very accomodating. The wall was hand painted throughout. Cons.... Owners definitely need to invest in the property after paying what we paid. This place shouldve been better than the Knights Inn down the street which looked like it was going through demo mind you. The carpeting, the central air fan they left us, the paneling on the walls made the entire place smell like a old damp basement. read more

I called this place to informed them that we will be arriving late, I wanted to make sure that the lobby was still opened. Just so we can get our key or to make sure our room wasn't given to someone else. The lady that answer the phone was very rude. once we got there, an old man came to us asking if my boyfriend was Mr. Chong. I kept telling him reservation was under My last name multiple times. once he finally did check, we drove to the cabin and the old man asked us to park in a certain spot. the lines weren't noticeable and my boyfriend kept parking at angle. keep in mind the lines were cover by snow. Just because he didn't park within the line the older man called him stupid and an idiot. I've never been so disrespected like this. NEVER COMING BACK read more

If you are looking for a high end place to stay, this is not it. But, for a quick and inexpensive trip to Big Bear, this is it. We had a balcony overlooking the lake and when the TV didn't work, they brought a new one within the hour. They ask that you bring your own bedding. Do not stay here. This place is run down and dirty. The owners bought new mattresses and fixed the pool. The rest is just gross. Holes in the walls. Blinds are filthy. The entire place was so dirty. We had to buy our own linens and buy towels. We had to block the door at night. If you wiggle it too hard it will open. Please put some money in to this place. I would be ashamed to take money for this hell hole. They own another hotel in Big Bear that are decorated in weird ways. Maybe that's where they put their money. You Have Been Warned! If I could have given a zero I would have.. this used to be a really nice place to take your family.. unfortunately about 10 years ago it was sold and I did not know that and I booked our big Bear trip exactly 2 days ago.. we stayed in one of the cabins and it was so filthy there was hair on our pillowcases handprints and dirt all over the walls in the bedroom.. there was dirt on some of the dishes that was in the kitchen... We brought us to the management attention and they did absolutely nothing.. although they did give us new pillow cases because of the hair that was on the beds... Horrible experience, beds had hairs in them, walls had hand prints and stains, grease splatter marks on the kitchen walls. When told about the hairs in the beds, the cleaners came in to exchange them without masks on while we were in cabin. Tub seemed to have stains and bathroom was dirty, there were dead bugs splattered on the ceiling . We've stayed at these cabins multiple times before the owners changed and don't think we will ever again. We remembered our stays here being great, but with the new ownership everything has gone down hill. Stay away!!! read more

This place has horrible customer service. The dude basically scammed me. I went there before and he gave me a pretty good deal and so I decided to use them again. I trusted the guy and thought we had a good relationship. Sad thing is that he took advantage of my trust. The first time I went I got a decent sized room and assumed that the room would be the same size. Since I reserved the room over the phone (he gave me a personal number) I wasn't able to see the room. This guy explained that the room was similar to the room I used before. When I got to the actual room I was very disappointed. Not only was the room half the size of the one I rented before but it wasn't even cleaned by the time I got there. I had to wait two hours for them to clean it up. When I asked for them to change or cancel the reservation they refused and the wife took up a nasty tone on me. I tried staying calm and asked for any alternatives. Perhaps a future stay for a lower price but they refused and were very unreasonable. The room itself was vert small and old. It needs a paint job badly and the kitchen is tiny. I definitely do not recommend this place for couples or families. It would be okay for a single if you are okay with bad service. I suggest staying away from this place. read more

I would have liked more accessibility to outlets in the bedroom. And one of the windows was completely shut but the cold and outside noises were coming through no problem, but we made it work. The heater in the bathroom also turned off after a while, so if you were in the shower too long (5 min +) you didn't get that nice heat when you stepped out. Also it was hard to get to the opposite side of the Queen bed, since the end of it was almost right up against the wall, we just ended up hopping over each other. I loved that upon walking into the main office, I was greeted by two beautiful dogs, and a wide selection of VHS tapes to play in our room! I also loved the DirectTV, the fireplace complete with firewood and fire starters, and the full kitchen packed with cookware and appliances! This place exceeded my expectations through and through. The heater did a great job heating the place up when there wasn't a fire, and I also loved that there was even a heater in the bathroom so that we wouldn't freeze upon climbing out of the shower! Plus the temp and water pressure was amazing. Also this place is dog friendly, what more could you ask! I would definitely stay here again read more

Went here with a group of friend and was super worried due to the reviews. But to my surprise the whole place has been renovated!!! It was awesome!!! The grounds keepers were super attentive to our group and consistently were checking to see if everything was okay, if we needed anything, etc. the rooms were super roomy, cozy, and warm. The heater worked too well as I bumped it up cause I thought it was going to be super cold. The fridge worked great! The shower had plenty of hot water and the pressure was fantastic! We rented cabins 8,9,12, and 14. I didn't get pictures of the other cabins but they were awesome as well! We will definitely be back anticipating on renting out the whole site! Did not live up to its reviews!! The place we got was such a sloppy old run down unit. The bed sheets were from the 70's or 80's - I refused to sleep in the bedsheets or on them. We put sleeping bags over the bedding. We did enjoy the convenient cable tv, mugs and coffee and fireplace. Loved the outdoors as well. However you do not really get a nice view of the lake. I never seen the spa or pool that's hidden. Enjoyed the small playground for the kids. Overall, I will not return as it can use some indoor bedding and flooring / decor upgrades. Inside looks nothing like pictures people post. Be careful what you pay for. Ask specifically for what unit you want before you get whatever they decide is available read more

Am going to give this spot 3stars, stayed here before but our recent visit wasnt so great, the rooms are cozy with a fire place, but the wall heating unit didnt work so well, it says the reset button on the wall, so we have to remove the heater cover and press the rest button in order to work, it had low battery so the temp control wasnt working, the carpet looked like they havent clean it, the couches were so dirty. Our dog found some peanuts that were left there. The key they give us doest lock the deadbolt only bottom lock. So over all our experience wasnt so great this time around. read more

i Love summer time in Big bear. Stayed here for one night. We hiked 9 miles during the day, pool side, watched a movie hatchi with Richard Geere, sad but great movie, hang out to town in evening. Hiked again the next morning. We were in a 2 small bedrooms w/kitchen. Perfect for girls weekend trip. It has everything you need, from bedrooms, bathroom to kitchen amenities. Check in went smooth, Nice gentleman Richard let us checked in early, which was great, thanks again for that. Sketchy Stay We stayed in the cabin with our dog first night all was good till the morning when we woke up water came all under the front door from rain and snow so the rug was soaked we couldnt walk around with our socks on Hubby took shower in morning shower head broke off and I had to take a shower with no shower head we asked to rent cabin for one more night because the bad storm and they moved us to cabin # 3 which was way sketchy looking wires draped all over our brand new 2019 truck bathroom window leaked in the morning there was a big puddle couldnt sleep all nite beacuse the neighbors upstairs you could hear them walls are paper thin and the power was out so we sat there for about 4 hrs with no power once power was on the direct tv was out all nite so our second night we had to watch an old VHS video "dances with wolves" about 5 times over and over there was no cable i called the office like 3 times and the lady said it must be out. In the morning we left soon as we could it was just to old and creepy and the place was like a scary movie mind you we where there on Valentine Day so I just kept thinking of my blood Valentine and then i left my dogs $20 leash and my Black nice Pea Coat in the room i called for 2 days straight and they said my Pea Coat was not there. Room is not worth the money I spend $235.00 for the worst 2 nites of my life because of this experience I will never in my life return to Big Bear. Anyone else would of offered asistance when the power was off they didnt even check on us read more

The cabins are always clean and prepped with basic necessities for your trip. It is also just a few minutes from downtown which makes it very convenient and don't forget about the lake view right from the driveway. I stayed in cabin 10 which had two rooms with a queen size bed in each room. The kitchen was nicely stocked with utensils, cooking pans, microwave, coffee machine and toaster. The little living room had a nice comfy couch that comfortably fit us (3 average adults). I love that they allow dogs, I'll bring mine next time. The stove, fridge, heater and water worked...I'm a happy camper! It's located in a nice quiet spot that is still conveniently close to town and not too far from the lake either! One thing that is out of their control is that the cabin next to us shares a wall so you can hear the neighbors talk and walk around. So bring ear plugs if you are sensitive. My neighbors partied till 4am Saturday night but they tried being quiet and were happy; I was too relaxed and tired to care. Oh also...there is no full length mirror, just the one mirror in the bathroom above the sink. Each unit has a grill that you can use and there is a nice picnic area. Thank you Timberline! read more

The only reason why i gave it one star is because the snow around the cabins really made my daughter happy. The place smelled like old, non washed linen... it was a non smoking cabin and the blankets had all these cigg burn marks, I paid 468 dollars for the stay and 3 days after check out an additional fee appeared bank account, I called and they said they charge an extra 50$ cleaning fee if it takes the maid more than one hour to clean it up they carge without notice. We had the cabin 2 nights, and we had kids so we made sure to bring up extra trash cans to dispose all the garbage and stuff, we borrowed their broom to sweep and we washed the dishes, made sure the place looked decent before turning in the keys..... I called the owner and he didn't care he just said "it took them a long time to clean". We had left the trash bags there, and there was a water spill, (it was melted snow, and the trash was all in bags but i guess they expected us to find a place to take it to? burn it?) Anyhow, no i do not reccomend this place to anyone, would not stay there again. read more

I booked a last minute getaway weekend here in the winter. I stayed in cottage 5 which was on the 2nd floor in like the middle of their property. The place was very cozy and full of wooden decor. The towels & linens were clean. The bed and couch were soft. The fireplace worked and they had wood if you forgot to bring some. The room was very warm but not stuffy. They're pet friendly and have plenty of parking. Sure the place could use some renovations but the people were nice, everything worked and it was a good deal. I spent a wonderful and restful weekend a few weeks ago at Big Bear, and stayed at Timberline. I asked for a cabin/space that had a kitchen as I like to cook for the sake of budgeting as well as health reasons, and was given a second floor "apartment." It was rustic, cozy, with a television, comfortable seating, heater and fireplace in the living room space. The kitchen space was clean and comfortable, and fully equipped with cooking utensils, oven, stove, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. My bed was really comfortable, and I slept like a baby while I was there. I used the fireplace the first night, and it was truly enchanting to experience the heat from the fireplace as it was really cold that night (I think the temperature dipped to the 30's and this was the month of May!) The staff were really sweet and attentive. I actually needed some help lighting the fire, and received help with this from the staff. My only criticism is that there were some spots in the space that needed a bit more tender loving cleaning, as there was a bit of dustiness. That said, I fully enjoyed my stay at Tiberline I had a truly restful, beautiful and wonderful weekend!! :-) read more

We are not even done with our stay here, but I feel compelled to write my Yelp review already. That's a good sign :) The Timberline Lodge is definitely rustic and the cabins haven't been updated in a while, but they have a home-y feel to them. We picked a larger 2-bedroom cabin with a kitchen because we wanted to cook a few meals during our stay and not eat out for each meal. I called up to make the reservation and the owner, Fendi, was extremely friendly and informative getting me all set up for my anniversary trip with my husband. They were even having a 3 nights for 2 special which was awesome. I followed up a few days later letting him know about our allergies and requesting a deep clean of the cabin. Not only did he agree to that immediately, he also mentioned that he was getting the carpets cleaned. When we arrived, it was to an extremely clean and welcoming cabin with freshly shampooed carpets. We really appreciated that extra step. Something that I also enjoy is that the cabins have VCRs and you can go in the lobby and peruse the library of VHS tapes, all free to borrow and watch. TONS of classic 80s and 90s films. I have major 90s nostalgia so I totally loved this part of it. The lodge itself is a convenient distance away from the Village and other things you might want to do. Close to the hiking trails we have been taking advantage of the past few days, and if you loop around back towards Hwy 18 you can go around the back way to Fawnskin, a little more secluded and with some fun walking trails and marinas. Another note about the service here - we were having some trouble with our TV remote and fireplace. The owner made a special trip over to help us out. He really cares about making sure that everyone staying on this property is happy. Duraflame logs and bundles of wood are available in the room at a decent price and the bathroom is stocked with fresh linens, soaps and toiletries - plus decent water pressure and abundant hot water. Overall we are happy that we chose Timberline Lodge for our anniversary trip and do want to thank the owner for all the care he has taken. read more

I came up to Big Bear this weekend with a buddy of mine. It was a last second trip and I decided to stay at the Timberline Lodge. I have stayed here previously about 10-years ago and I enjoyed the stay. The guy at the front coutner was very nice and friendly. We had no issues with the cabin (stayed in cabin #11). It was a nice 2 bedroom cabin with a small kitchen and small living room. You cannot beat the price for this cabin. I was up in Big Bear 2 weeks ago and paid the same price for a small hotel room. This lodge is right on Big Bear Blvd, which is very close to Big Bear Lake -- great location! The pricing is very affordable. -- It's about.. maybe $200 for a 2 bedroom lodge, which includes 4 queen beds, a kitchen, a balcony, and a fireplace (extra cost for the wood). However, we were able to haggle the price down to $100 :). The manager is a very nice guy -- very friendly, and chatty. The only not-so-great thing about this place, is that it looks a bit old. The walls need a paint job, the comforters are old and thin from being used so many times. The bathroom door kept opening on it's own, hitting me when i was using the bathroom.... Other than that, this is a pretty decent place. read more

We found this place via Groupon, when I called to find out more information I spoke with the owner she was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in Cabin #7. The living room decor had changed from prior pictures posted but it still had a cozy feeling. The cabin is a bit small for a large group (2 families sharing 1 bathroom) but we definitely took advantage of the outdoor amenities (perfect for summertime.) The kids loved the playground, tether ball, as well as learning to play card and board games. We bbq'd while enjoying dinner on the picnic tables right outside our cabin and had smores at the fire pit. The area is extremely quiet and well kept. If you are looking for a place to make your kids unplug from video games and enjoy the outdoor surroundings as a family this is the place to stay! read more
