Our kids enjoying their own cabin thanks to the wonderful staff!
    Tiffani M.

Had the pleasure of staying at Timberline Lodge two weekends ago. My family and I go to Big Bear every year for our annual winter vacation. Let's just say the employees there are the best around! There was a couch situation with our cabin and to accommodate us they gave us two cabins!! With being a family of 6 we were able to have two adjoining cabins and were able to put our 4 teen children in a cabin of their own while my husband and I had our own cabin. My husband also forgot his apple AirPods after we checked out and were already back down the mountain. I called them and they were able to locate them and arrange for them to be dropped off at UPS to be shipped to me. Talk about customer service!

Great affordable place to stay if you're looking for a hot shower and comfortable sleep before hitting the slopes the next day. Like most said if you're looking for luxury this is not it. But overall the experience was great in cabin #12! We loved that they were individual little cabins. 10/10 customer service. 8/10 cleanliness (sheets were clean but could use some dusting and wiping down of walls). Room 8/10 our king bed was comfy however the frame was sitting a top blocks to make it level lol but hey it worked with some adjusting though! Haha. All and all we loved the quaint, rustic atmosphere Big Bear is known for. We would definitely come back as we felt it was worth the price.

    Gross wall

I would give zero stars if I could. Just returned from this hell hole and lived to tell the tale. The carpet was filthy, smelly and torn. The kitchen floor had holes in it and sagged when my very small self stood on it. The bathroom door had a giant hole. The floor where the shower and floor met in the bathroom was rotted out. Wall paper was peeling off the walls. Red Bull cans under the couch. The "balcony" should be condemned. One of the smoke alarms had the batteries removed. (We fixed it, you're welcome). The kitchen blinds above the sink are broken and cannot be closed. Hope you're not over 5ft tall if you plan on showering. The one saving grace was the beds are super soft and comfy. You couldn't pay me to come back and stay there with my family.

Carpet I think is supposed to be blue but maybe a black?

Unit#5 beware of...umm ...no words well read below First I give A LOT of credit to the girl at check--in. Very well mannered and VERY professional and helpful. If only the rest of our stay was like this. They had a dog in the lobby which I didnt mind and my son loved playing with her. So gentle and playful. She was the owners sons dog whom stays there from time to time. But we will come bacl to that in a bit. We open the door and was hit in the face with an old mildewy wood smell. The entire place is like an old cabin youd find in the woods from the 70s. The sleeper sofa frame was broken and the arms were disgustingly black with grime build up. The rugs were, not sure of the color but, were of a dark blackish blue shade. No sitting places for anyone unless it was yourself or MAYBE one other person with you. And this was rented out as a 3 person cabin. Hmm. Needless to say.. we never took our shoes off to even walk around in our socks. Now... the kitchen didnt even go in there because i sure as hell wasnt cooking anything in this place. No ventalation for the stove exhaust gas. Not taking any chances. Next is the bedroom... after seeing the living room.. we decided to strip the bed and use our own linens. Including our own pillows. Even then, I didnt feel 100% certain if waking up with or without bedbugs. No room in the room for a queen size bed. I measured and there was at least MAYBE 8 inches between the foot of the bed and the wall. Next is the bathroom. Hmmmm... umm.. shower floor was dirty, like DIRT dirty not stained. We ended up putting a towel on the floor so we didnt touch the ground. AT ALL. There is a plus to this one.. the toilet was fairly new. But then you look at the floor tiles and they used roofing nails to hold down the tiles at the corners from coming up on a few. We were conteplating getting our money back after staying one night out of the two we booked and spending our money elswhere but we gave this place the benefit of the doubt. I was woken up by some guy clearing his nostrils and throat in the cabin below us. Which I assume that he was to be the owners son because he was walking the dog. Or the owner himself. Im not sure. Was not a pleasant experience. There was a small plus to this place. The playground which looked like a hippes paradise with cement life size pastel mushrooms and a random boat in the middle of the playground, was a nice place for my son to play around for an hour or so. Then we left for the day and wpuldnt come back until the dreadful thought of sleeping here. Pros...... playground and the front desk young girl with cool looking purple hair and very accomodating. The wall was hand painted throughout. Cons.... Owners definitely need to invest in the property after paying what we paid. This place shouldve been better than the Knights Inn down the street which looked like it was going through demo mind you. The carpeting, the central air fan they left us, the paneling on the walls made the entire place smell like a old damp basement.

Shout out to Shannon and family! Thank you. We love the new renovations! Purple is my color and when I saw the purple trim I knew we were in the right spot. Absolutely perfect. Clean. Quiet and super friendly. If I could give 10 stars I would. We will be back and if we don't stay here we will stay at Castlewood. We did a drive by of Castlewood and it is most appealing for our romantic couple lifestyle....yelpers please check out Timberline. My real time pics are attached here. Thanks.

Great set up and relaxing kitchen.

This was awesome place and it felt like home. So will be back. The grounds are clean and have several play areas and a pool. Customer service is great and friendly.

From the moment we walked into Sierra Blue Hotel & Swim Club, we knew we picked the right place. The aesthetic is incredible -- vintage charm from the original Thundercloud Lodge blended perfectly with modern, rustic chic design. Thoughtful artwork, cozy textures, and designer-inspired rooms make it feel stylish yet warm. It's a full-service hotel right in the heart of the Village -- one short block to the lake, shops, and restaurants (and right across from the bowling alley). Easy parking and EV charging available, which is a huge bonus. Janet, Maddie, and Louie greeted us and were absolutely amazing. Genuine, welcoming, and thoughtful. They even gifted us complimentary mugs and were so kind to our son, giving him a patch for his jacket or hat. That kind of hospitality stands out. And the freshly baked s'mores cookies? Unreal. Warm, gooey, perfectly toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate. Honestly better than DoubleTree cookies -- and yes, even better than the famous Disney park cookies. They're that good. Spotless room, beautiful Village views, pet-friendly, incredible service, and an unbeatable location. Five stars without hesitation. We'll absolutely be back -- especially for those cookies.

It was a double queen, I went back and informed the front desk and they didn't see my reservation details. Luckily I did have my confirmation email, first they claimed to not see the details of the room and I literally had to show him where to look in the email for the room. He switched out my room for a king size but it had NO fireplace, strike 1. They charged for parking which wasn't in the detail when I booked the room. And if you have a EV car it better be a Tesla( they should provide an adapter for none Tesla cars if I'm paying for parking). Strike 2. There was barely hot water when we took a shower. It was barely warm and we had to double up on the shower. Then this evening 7/28/26 the hot tube was broken with a paper sign saying "out of order" then went back to the room to maybe watch something on their television and the WiFi was down! Strike 3! Here is the thing, don't promise amenities if you can't provide them, and dismiss the guest when asked about it. When I book a hotel anywhere i look for specific things and if your establishment isn't able to provide it then you must accommodate. I won't be booking at this location again. We chose a room with a kitchenette, and even for our short stay, it was a great convenience. Service is a little hit or miss. When we arrived our room was a bit stuffy so we tried to use the thermostat, which kept indicating a low battery. We called the front desk and the man who answered hesitantly said they'd tell maintenence. On our way out for dinner, we stopped by the front desk to remind them of our request and it was the same person who answered the phone. He was surprised and scrambled to find a sticky note to write it down. After all of that, we come back to the room to a note that it's been "fixed." The A/C and heat are controlled on the unit by the window itself, not the thermostat. So why not say that the two times we asked about it? The entrance and exit are towards the road behind the main street through down, which has restaurants, a 7-11, and other places you can easily walk to -- if they had an exit facing the main road. However, I was disappointed that the bathroom in Room 363 already had some maintenance issues. The toilet was loose and wobbled every time we used it, and the shower handle was also loose and moved around when adjusting the water temperature. For a newer property, I expected these basic fixtures to be in better condition. The complimentary breakfast was a simple American-style breakfast with a few hot items, which was convenient but nothing particularly special. Overall, the hotel has great potential because it's clean and well maintained in general, but the maintenance issues in our room definitely affected our experience. Hopefully, management will address these problems soon, as this could easily be a 4 star stay with better attention to detail.

They made us feel right at home, which was a great way to start our stay. We booked a room with two queen beds, a fireplace, and a balcony. The lobby is nice, and the hotel has a spacious breakfast area along with an on-site restaurant. Our room was on the first floor, though, and the balcony overlooked someone's backyard, so we didn't really get to enjoy sitting outside. That was probably the biggest disappointment. The room itself was comfortable enough. The beds were decent, and it looked like some of the decor had been updated. The bathroom, however, could definitely use some work. There were patched areas on the walls, cracked baseboards, and it felt a little worn. The hallways could also use a refresh. The game room was a nice surprise. It had a pool table, ping pong, foosball, a few board games, and vending machines. There's also a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which looked like a nice place to relax. Breakfast was included and had a good variety of options, which we appreciated, especially on a busy holiday weekend. Overall, while parts of the hotel felt a little dated and even a bit creepy in places because of the older chateau style, we still enjoyed our stay. For the price we paid during one of the busiest weekends of the year, it was a good value. A few updates would make a big difference, but the excellent customer service and included breakfast definitely left a positive impression.

He took the time to explain all of the hotel's amenities and made sure we knew about all the fun extras, including Taco Tuesday, movie night for the kids with s'mores, the fire pits, and even the unique beer tap in the lobby that guests can access with their room key. Thanks to Joel, we got to enjoy so much more than just a hotel stay. We had a bit of a rough start to our trip when one of my children got carsick on the drive up. Joel immediately stepped in with cleaning supplies and genuine kindness and concern. His compassion and willingness to help meant so much to me as a mom traveling with two kids. Since my husband was in town for work and couldn't help us the entire time, I was handling the kids on my own and wasn't very prepared for our last-minute trip. Joel went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and helped arrange a room closer to the entrance, which made a huge difference for us. The hotel itself was fantastic. It was huge and the water was always super hot and the shower was hot right when I got out of the tub. A little soap goes a very long way with bubbles, proceed with caution. The room and the spa were very clean, there was a sticker on the door with the name of the person and the date that our room was sanitized which was reassuring to me. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. Whenever I stay anywhere I strip the bed and put on my own sheets and blanket but when tearing the bed apart our white linens were very white and clean. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! I suppose one could find the rooms dated, I personally felt like they were cute and cozy and felt cabin like,I didn't mind the decor at all. We stayed in cabin 16, I was able to scope out 17 and has been updated recently and is more modern. They both cost the same so I would probably go with 17 it's really the best bang for your buck. Finding our cabin at night was fairly difficult if you are able to check in during the day I would definitely say do that. We eventually found our cabin, they all look the same and aren't marked terribly well. The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. Remember to look for that coupon code online and to book through their direct website and the price is unreal.

Horrible experience. Won't be back. Reserved one room upstairs with a patio/balcony. Was given a…read moreroom on the street with a narrow 4 steps to the cabin. No porch or anything. We complained and was told that they had the right to change us. It's not in their written policies anywhere. This room was substandard, especially to the one we actually booked. The mini blind were threaded, broken and dirty the table was beat up and not stable, the cost rack was in front of the window. And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. Everything is done by text message, yet conflicts aren't resolved. It was our ;9 wedding anniversary. We were deeply dissapointed after reading other's posit reviews. We won't be back

I absolutely loved that there was a spot to do yoga or other movement classes! If you want to do a complete wellness day, you can take your mat to this beautiful open deck area (where your mat is shaded) and you have some mirrors. Once you finish your class, there's a sauna and cold plunge available to use to complete the perfect session! I didn't get to use the lodge much as I was visiting solo this time, but would love to use that nice big kitchen and the pool table next time This place is not super big, so everything is very walkable and in close proximity to each other! You can drive, walk, or even ride your bike to other restaurants and activities near by if you aren't too busy playing corn hole or lounging in the hammocks

Frank, the owner, is one of those rare people who is truly hands-on and genuinely cares about his guests. From the moment we arrived, he was communicative, kind, and incredibly attentive. You can tell this isn't just a business to him -- it's personal. What really stood out was his integrity. During our January stay, he went above and beyond to make sure our family was comfortable and taken care of, and he generously invited us back again in February. That level of hospitality and follow-through is something you just don't see often anymore. The space itself is peaceful, cozy, and perfect for a Big Bear getaway, but honestly, it's Frank's heart and character that make the place special. If you're looking for somewhere you can trust -- not just a place to sleep -- this is it. We'll definitely be back.
