This review is for the house rental in 361 W. Cinderella Drive. It's a 4 bed,3 bath spacious house in the Peter Pan neighborhood that is excellent for a big group. The deck from the living room is large and this is where you could find the sunset view while the dining room is where you glimpse the beauty of the sunrise. The best part here was the high-ceiling game room with a table tennis that turns into a pool table. It has also an elegant spacious kitchen with new appliances and cozy living room with a fireplace. Btw,the kitchen has a deck with BBQ grill,another great view of the other cabins around! We have enjoyed our stay here since this place is clean,new and close to everything. We had a wonderful trip to Big Bear and stayed at one of the cabins through Big Bear Escapes (Timber Lodge). The house was beautiful, well maintained, and very clean. It was perfect for our family and doggo. My boys especially loved the game room, and we all appreciated the gift basket filled with treats. The enclosed backyard was great for the kids (human and furry) and we loved the easy parking. When the mildly unfortunate occurred, and my son left his iPad at the cabin, and we didn't realize until we were down the mountain, Doria was incredibly helpful in locating it and sending it back to us via UPS. Stayed in Sugar Bear Chalet 2 for my Birthday (Christmas Eve) and Christmas with the family. This was our third cabin with Big Bear Escapes. I have to say Doria is a great manager to work with. She is always working!! No matter what time of day it is she gets right back to me with any questions I have. She is sweet and helpful. We had a nice time in Sugar Bear Chalet 2. We enjoyed the game room a lot. Played pool and some ping pong. What I think I enjoyed the most is the walks to the forest that is just a couple blocks to the right of the cabin. Being from the Midwest I really miss nature and this was a special time for me to be able to walk around in the forest. It was just beautiful. Looked for a bear, but didn't spot one this time at least, maybe next. Did see a coyote and a cute bunny however. Will be renting with Doria at Big Bear Escapes again, can't go wrong!! read more

We've always wanted to vacation in Big Bear Lake and came across Big Bear Escapes. From the first moment it was a great holiday. We just returned from the most incredible horseback riding excursion at a gorgeous ranch with epic views and endless trails to explore. The ranch house had every creature comfort, it was spotlessly clean, and included the perfect blend of cozy and classic touches that made us feel instantly at home. Our horses were equally delighted with the stable accommodations. The barn showed the owner's attention to detail and was just down the hill so we could drink our morning coffee on the wraparound porch and watch our horses munch their breakfast before our daily rides. Doria has been an absolute gem to work with. She made our late night, last minute trip by far the most memorable. From a super quick and easy booking to an extremely well maintained and equipped home. Once the booking was confirmed, Doria went out of her way to head to the rental home and turn on the jacuzzi heater upon on arrival. Not a fan! You find out the true character of a vendor when something goes wrong, not when everything goes right. One major flaw: The AFTER we left "you owe us money for breaking an item" email. So totally pissed me off, I now avoid them like the plague. No discussing, no gathering of data from me, no listening to us. I was there, them item in question broke from light usage of the item AS INTENDED. I'm the person that was using it at the time, so I know exactly what happened. They sent an email for the price to replace, which was 20 times what the cost to repair would have been. Would have been a 2 minute fix at a local shop. ALSO we should NOT have been charged a dime. I will never go back to them because I would not trust them. And in this case something VERY MINOR went wrong, but the charged the HIGHEST POSSIBLE FEE to replace the item that could have easily been repaired for a few bucks. I told them I was not OK with the charging, but they did anyway. I gave the reasons and the situation that it broke from normal use, and I myself (not my kids wrestling around), me personally using the item it totally normal use. Didn't matter what I said, they were determined to pissme off and get their money for something that was THEIR problem, not mine. I own rentals properties and know when something is normal use. I couldn't believe it. And of course for the money, it wasn't worth going to court to get back the money. But you can be certain that I tell EVERYONE not to go to them. They totally showed their character in how they acted with me after spending a TON of money renting their place, this amount was nothing in comparison, but instead of building loyalty with someone who goes to big bear nearly every year, they decide to to the low road. I recommend avoiding like the plague. I've never had anything like that happen before or since. As I type I can't help but pound the keys about it. So ask yourself this question, "What if something I use in normal circumstances breaks, am I ready to pay for a brand new one? What is the blinds break when I pull on the cord? What is the dishware door falls off when I gently open the door? What if the refrigerator breaks when you put in the gallon of milk?" Are you prepared to buy them a new one? Seriously, find another rental agency, you don't want to be in the same circumstance as what I experienced. Really horrible experience. And enjoy your time in Big Bear. ;-) read more

Another year snowboarding in Big Bear! (mind you, I didn't do the booking) I loved the fact that we went straight to the cabin, no need to stop by an office to get a key. We arrived to the house, the lights were on, the heater was running and welcome basket was waiting for us! We stayed at the Sledhill Cabin, the cabin itself was in great shape and the house was modern. January 21, 2016 Big bear escapes My wife and I have gone through multiple property managers. The big ones and not so big. We were lucky enough to put the rite (lucky) google key words and pulled Big Bear Escapes. With Big Bear Escapes our bookings started rolling faster than we could ever have expected In our past dealing with the lesser property managers we would end going to our cabins for a quick stay. We would end up doing the work the property manager should have done. Ie cleaning, little handy man repairs. Not with Doria's team. We always find our cabins in top notch condition. That is very nice. Doria also has an extensive network people that will get the job done rite. Ie..electricians, plumbers, general contractors. All of whom we have used with great results. Regarding Doria she is: · Tenacious · Honest · Intelligent · Cleaver · Resourceful · Fun Those are just the first of Doria's attributes that pop to my head. I always come up to Big Bear during the winter seasons to get away with family and friends. This time around was different because me and my friends wanted to come up literally last minute, late night decision. We called so many companies and they kept telling us that they do not do last minute booking and it is only 2 day prior booking. Beware!!!: A group of us stayed at the Moonlight Manor expecting to have a great experience, boy we're we wrong. Upon arriving we are greeted with a courtesy gift basket filled with expired snacks! Come on, Really?? How's that for $590 (fee & tax not included) a night.. We booked the room for the weekend, so we bought 2 days worth of food, water etc... Upon our arrival we began to unpack the grocery's and bottled waters as we open the refrigerator, we notice the condiments were also expired. Naturally we tossed them out- We had kids there too. The refrigerator barley kept the water cool, coffee maker was not working properly & the carving forks' handle fell apart as soon as I picked it up. I called Doria to tell her about the expired condiments and the carving fork twice and NO ANSWER her voicemail was full I couldn't leave a message. After unpacking I began to explore the placed and noticed a very familiar smell... It wasn't scented candles- But URINE!! I continue my tour and again the the same urine smell by the pool table. I also noticed pet hair all over the furniture.. I am allergic to pet hair people! My nightmare doesn't end there... The last day we were there we left that place cleaner than what was when we got there the whole place was vacuumed including underneath the couch (which was filthy!) I received an email days after stating I would not be receiving my $250 deposit due to 1.all condiments from refrigerator being taken 2.broken knife set (carving fork) 3.many carpet stains.... My reaction upon reading the email: Come on, Really? I called Doria right away & sent multiple emails.. Yes I said EMAILS- she didn't answer. I received an email from her stating she will refund $100 out of my $250 deposit and that was the best she can do- Mind you I had not talked with Doria about why items were tossed etc.. I FINALLY was able to get a hold of her by phone a few days later and explained about the condiments and carving fork she got SASSY with me (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL) and she said she was going to speak to the owners and see what she can do. After agreeing to send pictures of the "Damages. She was not prompt her responses AT ALL even when I asked to please handle this matter with a sense of urgency she didn't I received the pictures a day later. She said I was not going to be charged for the expired condiments (So generous) I threw out but I was going to have to pay for carpet cleaning and the carving fork $168!!!! And my refund was still going to be $100.. I sent her an email asking for proof of how much the carpet cleaning cost and wide shot of the carpet stains- because the picture she sent looked like a pet urine stain not foot traffic. I have yet received the additional pictures.. Why? I have no idea!!I did not receive my refund of $100 until the 21st day refund and I will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Doria is unprofessional,UNETHICAL and dealing with her was a terrible and a total RIP OFF!!!!!!! You've been warned!!!!! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Doria Rone is by far the most unprofessional, disrespectful, crooked property manager I have ever dealt with. She will look for every reason even remotely possible to keep your security deposit!! A group of co-workers and I went up to Big Bear and stayed at Wispering Pines last weekend. There were about 10 of us, all in our 30's and 40's, like to have fun but are very respectful and responsible adults. The cabin was OK. Plenty of rooms, not terribly clean but not filthy, had a pool table room and hot tub on the back porch. We stayed two nights and left on Sunday. When we left, we stripped all of the beds and took all of the sheets and used bath towels and put them on the floor in a pile, just like you are asked to do in any hotel anyone has ever stayed in, right? If you're going to clean the sheets anyway (hopefully) why would we need to make the beds? When we politely asked why she isn't giving our security deposit back, she writes, "There is nothing further to discuss you can see all what you did to Whispering Pines cabin and the terrible condition you left the cabin in, including extra cleaning needed..." Extra cleaning? We were trying to be helpful by putting all the dirty laundry in a neat pile so it would be easier on YOU when you did the laundry. The other reason for stealing our money was, "extra dirty spa and marks on spa, these cost will exceed the 250 deposit you had on the cabin if you read through the agreement you can see you are not entiled to any refund." You have 10 people stay in a cabin, all using the hot tub that barely fits 4 people, in the middle of the woods surrounded by dust, dirt, pine needles, dirty snow etc. you're going to have a dirty hot tub at the end of two days. That's just how it goes. Re-fill it, throw some chlorine in there and you're good to go. She tried to send us 2 pictures of the "marks on the hot tub" and we zoomed-in on the picture and you can see that its clearly just dirt from someones foot getting into the hot tub. Dirt. No damage, just dirt. So for trying to help out with the dirty laudry, and for getting dirt on the hot tub, she claims that it's damage beyond $250 and steals our security deposit. On top of that, it was they way she handled it as well. Very unprofessional, extremely disrespectful in how she communicated with us, and gave absolutely no proof of the damages, besides the dirty hot tub, which were laughable. So fair warning for anybody that goes through Big Bear Escapes and has to deal with this monster, Doria. I would highly reccommend saving yourself the hassle (and the security deposit) and use another company. read more

DON'T DO IT! Doria, the owner/property manager, is the most unprofessional individual I have ever worked with. I work with property managers on a daily basis and have never encountered such an unprofessional/unethical person. We stayed at Lake View Retreat for New Year's, and while the place/our stay was nice enough, our experience with management was terrible. We were wrongfully accused of damaging the hot tub cover, which 4 of us collectively used for a total of 10 minutes. We barely touched it. When we asked for proof of damage, as our contract stated that photos were taken before/after our occupancy, they were not provided. When we asked for bids to replace it and a cost of what it was originally and when it was purchased, to determine if it was normal "wear and tear", they were not provided. She became irate and would not discuss the matter further, but threw in one last accusation for good measure. She said amphetamines were found at the spa! You're talking about a group of 30-something professional people who include home owners and a member of the US Navy- yes, we really used a ton of drugs in your spa, lady. Her emails were not only offensive but completely unprofessional. We aren't sure if she suggested drugs were in the spa because she doesn't want to give us our money back, or because this really happened- in which case I suggest any group of teenagers walking by seeing an unoccupied house with a hot tub in the side yard, unfenced, easily accessible- you do the math. Either way it is a totally heinous and offensive suggestion. During our stay we went as far as helping some neighbors up the street with a sensitive situation, we left the place in great condition and took care of it with the same respect we'd expect someone who was staying in our home. We are not people of bad moral character, we didn't damage the spa cover, and the way in which we were treated by her is beyond comprehension. There are many cabins you can rent in Big Bear, many sites you can visit to secure a nice rental. I DO NOT recommend this one! read more

1) we really couldn't use the hot tub that was advertised in the website. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to get to the hot tub so only 4 of us were willing to make the effort to walk around the side of the house through a foot of snow in bare feet and get inside. We followed the instructions and opened up the hot tub. After about 20 minutes we all got out, closed it up and went inside. This was the last time we were willing to make that effort. Besides, after the first use the ground was now ice. 2) On the move out date I called the management company and asked if we could check out an hour late because the night before was NYE and we were moving slowly and wanted to clean up. They refused and told me that cleaners will be waiting outside and they will charge us per hour as they wait. Nobody ever showed up so this was a empty threat and an example of this company being unreasonable. 3) Finally, on 1/8 I got an email from them saying that they were evaluating the deposit because of damage done to the hot tub cover and because of late check out. First of all, we did not check out late... so this is raised questions with the group about them possibly trying to stick us for the deposit. As a response to this we asked for some form of proof that the hot tub cover was damaged that night and nothing was provided other than a picture they claimed to be a damaged hot tube cover. We also asked for warranty information to make sure it wasn't covered, proof of when the picture was taken (stated in the contract that pictures are taken before and after renters move in and out), and proof of when the cover was purchased so we could determine if it was just old and brittle... none of this was provided. Actually, the manager Doria became so angry that we wanted documentation that she refused payment by saying "NO REFUND" and then began to claim we were "doing amphetamines" in the hot tub to get me to back down from asking for proof. Needless to say we did not get our security deposit back. I gave them one star because in spite of High Sierra Property Group/ Big Bear Escapes lack of professionalism and unethical business practices we still had a good time. The place was clean when we got there just as it was when we left. read more

This is Possibly the worst stay in all of the places in the world that I have visited. Let me make some bullet points to break it down: 1. Doria the manager gave us the wrong house number for the rental so we had to scan house by house on the block to finally guess the right house. We couldn't reach Doria since there were no signal up there at all. 2. Dirty Dirty Dirty, I would love to post all the pictures that I had taken in the cabin. Dirty pillows and sheets with hairs all over the beds. The couch had biscuit pieces that remained uncleaned. When we open the closet for more pillows, we saw a pair of winter boots laying on the top of a pillow. GROSS! 3. The heater didn't work. We turned the heater on to 100 but it still felt like 60 the whole night. we had to wear snow jacket and pants to sleep at night since it was too cold in the cabin. Friend got sick the next day. 4. spider web on the roofs. looks like this place has never been cleaned. Dirty Carpet and looked like some one spilled some drinks and left it like that since. 5.Giant Spider in the sink. (Doria's explanation: insects love to get inside to stay warm. WHAT?) 6. When we called Doria, oh man, her attitude. Very unprofessional. We had no signal in the cabin so we used skype on our laptops to call her. Doria kept saying we were yelling at her when we were just putting her on speaker and were speaking to the laptop. She never let us finish what we say and kept interrupting us. She also threats us that she would write bad reviews to us on Airbnb if we write bad reviews to her. (REALLY? THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT THE CUSTOMERS AND SOLVE PROBLEMS?) As soon as we said we would like to still pay for the first night but cancel the rest of the reservation (we had one more night left, 2 nights stay reservation), Doria freaked out and started to say all we want is a free night. (Honestly Doria, my friends and I WILL pay more for good services, free night is not a thing that we look for, nice try). Hardest person to communicate with when she does not even listen to us and kept saying that we are rude. 7. VERY VERY VERY Over Priced. I have even had a better experience in a bad hostel in Budapest for 15 euro a night than this 800/2nights cabin. Conclusions: Avoid at all cost my friends! Dont let this company and the manager ruin your much deserved holiday or vacations! read more

We didn't have access to some of the things that they claimed you'd have access to. There are hidden fees. We stayed during the winter and there was NO WORKING heat. Manager Doria was a weak communicator and of little help. This place is over-priced as it is to begin with and their service and delivery was well below average. This place knows how to treat a lady! You without a doubt get your money's worth here. The staff is so helpful and so so friendly. Now that I'm past my twenties, and my ramen noodle days are over the last thing I want is a stinky bar of soap and questionable sheets. This place was spotless well stocked and just gorgeous. I even brought a u.v flash light to check the place for news story nightmares and found absolutely nothing . When we first walked in there was a welcome basket with wine and coffee , the bathrooms had everything from 5 bladed razors to wonderful smelling bath gel. The jacuzzi was so clean I though it was brand new and the only thing we had to bring was food and our cloths , everything else was provided. I will never stay anywhere else !! We stayed at a cabin called Deer Haven during Christmas week 2015 which we booked through Big Bear Escapes. We booked the trip at the very last minute (meaning we booked it on Christmas eve to arrive on Christmas Day). Our experience from top to bottom was excellent. Working with Doria the owner was extremely easy. The cabin which we rented was portrayed accurately in the photos and was very comfy, warm, and spacious. The only drawback for the entire trip was the fact that the jacuzzi was only lukewarm and therefore unusable. This is the only reason I didn't give big bear scapes a five star rating. With that said, I called Doria from the cabin and told her about the jacuzzi and she said she could have a technician come that day to investigate. She was very accommodating, friendly, and attentive. For that reason alone I would book with her again! read more

We rented through Big Bear Escapes twice, Sled Hill Lodge for family trip and Vista Villetta for a romantic getaway with just my husband. Both cabins were located in beautiful residential neighborhoods with great views all around. Both times Doria was so helpful and fun and energetic! Her cabins are clean, comfortable and well-stocked (important but not always what you get with some rental companies!!! ) There is a beautiful welcome basket and yet another in bathrooms with all the necessary toiletries. We loved the cabin we rented through Big Bear Escapes. We stayed at the Castle Glen Chateau and there was plenty of room for 16 people. The view of the lake was spectacular and we couldn't ask for a more awesome cabin. When we arrived, everything was very clean and we couldn't believe how large the place was. Doria was extremely helpful when booking. She was also flexible when we asked if we could checkout later in the day to stay for Sunday football. We're looking forward to booking with Big Bear Escapes again in the winter! read more
