Snuggle Bear Cabin...there are only positive things I can say about this deeply wonderful and…read morerelaxing cabin. What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin for anyone to deeply relax and enjoy the natural wonders of Big Bear. Thank you, Melia, for his wonderful experience.

I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, but this one needs to go out…read more My brother and I planned a reunion 9 months in advance with activities for our 48 family members. It was to culminate with going to Oak Knoll Lodge, our family's traditional vacation spot when we grew up. We used to spend a week there swimming in the pool with a slide, playing shuffleboard, horseshoes, ping pong and going into town for some shopping and hiking. We booked the entire lodge for 3 nights including one night free for booking 2 nights. We were excited to experience the Oak Knoll Lodge with our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I should have known there was a problem when I tried to confirm the booking a month in advance and the phone number on the website was not answered with no mailbox having been set up. After many attempts I finally got thru to someone who was representing the new owner. They told me our reservation was there, but only for 2 nights so I added the 3rd night for an increased cost. I paid over $5,000 for the 50% deposit. On the day of arrival some of my family members got there early but could not check in without me or my brother being there. Then my daughter called to tell me the pool was empty and there was nobody in the lodge, just a sign to call a different lodge to check in at. I was upset, because with the temperatures topping at 80 degrees the pool was essential for a good time. I called the phone number, and the representative could not give me any information other than the pool was not available. She refused to give me the name or number of the owner and only the first name of the manager, no number to call. She did have the manager call me and then he had the owner call me who said the pool had an issue 3 days ago. I asked why I wasn't told about this, and he said it wasn't his fault it was not working. He then wouldn't let my people check in without us first making payment in full. I eventually got him to let my people check in and he agreed to give me a 25% discount and the use of another pool at another lodge. When my family finally checked in, there were no amenities. No shuffleboard, no horseshoes, no pool and the only ping pong table was in the office that had nobody working there. Many of the cabins were dirty without working stoves, microwaves or refrigerators. There were even mouse droppings in the beds, bowls and flooring. Some of the cabins were missing bedding, pillows, utensils... Because of the missing amenities, unsanitary condition and poor maintenance of the cabins we refused to pay the balance of what we owed and the owner, Ken, then refused to let us use the ping pong table or main lodge area during our stay. The pool he promised to let us use at a lodge over a mile away was small, no slide, dirty, seating for only 5 people and no water in it. The pool at Oak Knoll Lodge, we later found out, had not been used or working for a long time. When I told Ken about all the problems and our unwillingness to pay the balance, I never heard back from him, the manager or the check in person although someone did send a person to clean the rat droppings. We ended up having to pay an extra $4,000 to give my family other activities to do which included the Alpine Slide entertainment area and the Lodge at Big Bear with a working pool that would keep them cool and have fun to finish what was supposed to be our first ever epic reunion. The reunion ended up great no thanks to the poorly managed and laughably inadequate accommodations at the Oak Knoll Lodge. If you decide to go there, you best check it out first as it was clearly not what was represented on the website.

Truly, a magnificent place to unplug and connect with your loved one!!!!…read more My husband took me on a road trip for my birthday back in May. We live in Vegas, so I wanted a change of scenery . . . Big Bear it was. Took us approximately 4 1/2 hours with traffic. ***if this is your first time driving from Vegas to Big Bear, please note that you are literally driving up the mountain to get there. The road is crazy windy, so keep that in mind if you go when there's inclement weather. A quick google search led us to Big Bear Manor Jacuzzi Cabins. Very reasonably priced, and very close to Village Dr (it's where all the shopping and restaurants are). Upon check-in, we were warmly greeted with lots of tips on places to eat, and things to do. We were given cabin #12 (my favorite number) and it was perfection!! There is a covered car port next to the cottage. As you walk up to the door, there's a covered patio with a little table and chairs. When you walk in, there's a queen bed to your left with nightstands and lamps on top. To the right, there's a huge jacuzzi, working fire place (not gas, a "real" fireplace) and a tv mounted to the wall that swivels to the left and right. A little kitchenette with basic kitchen utensils, mini fridge, sink, microwave, and toaster oven. Bathroom with shower in the back. Very cozy living space!! We lucked out because it snowed a couple of the days we were there. A rarity to see when you live in Las Vegas. We took full advantage, and had a fire going 24/7!!! We can't wait to go back both with and without our kids. The fireplace lit up with just the two of us was such a romantic getaway. We also can't wait to share big bear with our children because they too are going to go crazy over being in the woods and skiing or swimming depending on what time of year we come back. And we will definitely be back!

We had 2 pillows for 2 beds (extras weren't available), but what looked like a handyman did show up with extra bedsheets that were rolled up in a bowl and held against his dirty clothes. The overhead light was broken, the floors were absolutely filthy, the windows were off track and couldn't stay open or lock. The hot tub, which was the main reason we rented this cabin, is cracked and peeling and was dirty on arrival. I bought cleaning supplies before I realised that the hot tub was completely unusable. When water hit the basin it threw little pieces of peeling of paint into the water. The kitchen was an absolute disaster. It was listed as a usable kitchen with lots of amenities. Upon arrival we found, 2 plates, 1 saucer, no bowls, 2 glasses (that didn't match) no wine glasses. We had to ask for wine glasses and when they arrived it was 1 wine glass, 1 champagne glass both very dirty. All of the cutlery was mismatched, dirty, and not a complete set. Dirty pots and pans were in a cabinet. There were no trash bags, a broken paper towel holder, no supplies to wash or dry dishes. However, there was a sign saying if you left dirty dishes behind they would charge you. There were also no kitchen towels or pot holders. In the bathroom, we found a broken toilet paper holder, broken bathroom mirror , 1/4 roll of toilet paper, no shampoo, conditioner, or soap. There were only three towels so we had to ask for extra towels. We were given towels with large holes that smelled. There was no bathmat, a torn shower curtain with no shower curtain liner. The hairdryer dryer was missing from the wall and when we asked for one an hour later one showed up brand new in the box obviously had just been purchased at the store. The grounds were filthy as well. Trash was everywhere as well as broken appliances stored behind and underneath other cabins. Someone lives at the facility and let their small child scream and yell even pass the quiet hours. We contacted the manager multiple times and when we gave a list of complaints, they didn't respond until before our checkout reminding us to be out on time so they're cleaning crew could access for the next person. We asked for a partial refund due to the fact the amenities listed were not there so we had to go out and purchase them, as well as the fact that we could not use the hot tub and that is the main reason we rented the place. We were told they don't trade refunds for good reviews.
