Cabins4Less has really gone downhill. Stayed at the lake location for a hot weekend in LA. No extra toilet paper was one problem. I know there was no A/C however, I didn't expect the heater to come on at midnight. Was disappointed that this was ignored by the staff when prepping the cabin for use. This is not a fancy place. The website is pretty clear that it is a bare bones cabin to allow for discounted prices. My family just completed our stay in Cabin/Condo 53. It was lake front and extremely convenient for a walk into town. We brought sleeping bags, pillows and towels as well as our own cooking tools (which we did not use since we ate dinner in town). It worked and we would return. Cabin 53 is a studio with two queen form beds, the room had a new fridge and microwave that were pristine. Were the finishing perfect? No, but it worked for our needs--a bed get friendly place to sleep while we spent our days enjoying Big Bear. The hosts were very responsive to questions via text message which was greatly appreciated. read more

We always came here with our little boy before having another baby.. really loved it a few years ago but now... I don't know.. After going this time around, our cabin just looked so run down. Already had ants in it. Cigarettes put out under the sink + an empty Tito's mini shot bottle (which I threw away myself) .. couldn't lock the back door. Bugs squashed up against wherever they were last alive at. It just made me extremely uncomfortable to the point we won't be staying here again.. im really not high maintenance at all, we literally loved cabins4less but this was just too far for me.. I stayed at a little Shack on 844 Tulip Ln #23 This place was Filthy !! I've never stayed in such a S.. t Hole in all my life, I paid for 2 nights but left the first morning, as soon as there was light, I didn't want to use the Shower at all. The heater was a crappy dirty plug in that made noise so I had to turn it off so I could sleep. I ask if I could get a refund but that would not. The outside had a little metal bonfire thing that was turned Over so there was cigarettes butts and burnt wood scattered around, Junk crap was thrown around the side of the shack. Cabin#11. First time at this place. Beds filled with pee on topside, bottom was filled with black stuff looked like black mold. Cabin had no vent on its stove so the small room fills up with exhaust smoke horribly. Pans all had layers of greese and non stick coating was all scrapped off which is POISENESS. Dishes and Utensils had thick layer of greese. When I informed owner he was horrible and expected us to load our car up and get out of cabin in 5 minutes which actually required 40 minute load minumum. He took mattress out of cabin and installed a futon which only slept 1 instead of two, so 1 person had to sleep outside in snow. Owner is terrible so beware. Flooring was installed terribly, amateur wow By the way, after all of this I only asked for 1/2 back. It was ignored and denied. We paid for a 4 person stay and we didn't have accommodations for 4 people to stay!!!!! The whole mountain was booked up. There was no place to go and the owner didn't give a crap that 1 of my guests had to sleep outside!!!!! Wow Terrible place. I would never recommend!! My hubby and I stayed in cabin # 6 at cabins4less in Big Bear. The cabin is very rustic and warm. There is a nice fireplace with adjustable thermostat, mini fridge, burners with pans to cook, a giant jacuzzi tub and a nice little shower. This is the perfect getaway for a young or old couple who loves that cabin feel without average cabin prices. You do need to bring your own towels and sheets for the bed but I take solace in knowing all of the fabric is owned and washed by us. It is a dog friendly establishment, my Belle had a great time too. The owners were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check out late without fees. I genuinely recommend this place for anyone looking to getaway! read more

Wow! I couldnt have asked for anything more! We were able to get cabin 7B for the 4th of July weekend with just a few days of planning! Appears to the cabin had been renovated just the weekend before and we were the first guests to stay. Everything about our stay was perfect! For us, the most important factor was being able to take BOTH our cat and dog with us. Since we are relatively new to CA we dont have anyone trustworthy to care for our animals. This was HUGE! Our cabin was equipped with a sweet, little kitchenette...I actually over packed expecting to have little to work with. So cool! Our location was super peaceful and had a cute picnic table with a outdoor firepit/cooking grill. Considering that it was 4th of July weekend this was so nice!!! Overall, this was a great experience! I saw some negative reviews but really can only disagree with them, most of the complaints seem to be that the cabin wasn't a 5 star hotel.... well that's because its a cabin! We booked a one bedroom cabin, and got a run down studio, with what looked like a Murphy bed, there was an old car parked in the front and seemed like storage behind our cabin. Our "cabin" 18a was facing the busy street, with motorcycles and trucks blazing by! Forget about sleeping! We got a street view rather than the mountain views we were supposed to have. I tried asking to be relocated but the only cabin available was double the price! ( They wouldn't allow us to just stay for the same price). We asked for a refund and we're denied! We left two hours after check in after driving 2 plus hours to get there! read more

We have been renting with them for about a year and have gone about 3 times summer and winter. We really enjoy our stays at each cabin we rented as they are all unique. The owners make it affordable by waiving the cleaning fee. We really enjoy that they offer a kitchen area so we can cook our own breakfast and there's a fire place for roasting marshmallows. The beds are super comfortable. We just rented a spa cabin and we really enjoyed that for just a small fee though It took a bit to figure out the water temperature it was worth it. The owners answer questions fast and are flexible with check in and check out times. Defiantly will be continuing to rent with them for future getaways. read more

I am glad I did not read the reviews before renting cabin #16. These cabins are such a great value. We stayed 2 nights. I took away one star because I was so excited to have a jacuzzi tub in the room.....then found out it is just a tub. The jacuzzi part never worked! :( While that was disappointing....we enjoyed the fireplace and the convenience of being so close to everything. The slopes are just down the road as is any shopping you might need. My suggestions: bring your own bedding, towels, bath mat, and also something to put at the door so you can wipe your shoes/boots. If you forget, there are thrift stores on the other side of town. If you don't like stuff on the floor when walking on bare feet...use the broom provided in your room. Clean up after yourself....maybe consider leaving the place better than you found it. If the person before you didn't do as good a job as you might have...that is too bad. We wiped the place down with Clorox wipes....we were informed there is no housekeeping.....website I think...or maybe it was a sign in the room. Personal responsibility in these crazy COVID times. Another suggestion is to bring an HDMI cord to hook up your iPad or phone to the TV so you can watch movies. I don't care for basic cable.....I prefer movies while snuggling with my honey. Also, remember the deal you are getting. Manage your expectations. These are rustic cabins...in the mountains.....if you are spending THAT MUCH TIME in your rustic cabin...why did you even come to Big Bear? We enjoyed it...and enjoyed the familiarity of having our own bedding. We cleaned up after ourselves and truly enjoyed the communication with the office. Easy reservations, check-in, and check-out. I will definitely come back again...hopefully, we will have a working jacuzzi tub then. :) read more

My guy rented a cabin for my birthday weekend of jan 24th. We got cabin 22 which was away from the Lowe numbered cabins and also above cabin number 20 something. Most are stand alone except for this one I think. The cabin is decorated wooden and with old stuff as I could assume some are in the area. I like that it came with some kitchen utensils and fireplace but that's about it. One the first night we found a baby roach in our room, so we didn't sleep well thinking there would be a roach in our things or bed. The next day same thing there was a baby roach on the shower curtain so that would mean there are many more somewhere in that and the cabin below. There was a housekeeping envelope there when we arrived but due to covid we wiped down the tables and they were still dirty. In front of the fireplace there was remnants of firewood so the housekeeper definitely doesn't clean well. The room has paint coming off the ceiling and walls so I must say for the 80 something we paid for it you can definetly find another place cleaner then this place if staying in big bear. I must say the only good thing was the customer service, now that is exceptional it just sucks it's too dirty and run down of a place. read more

BEST CABIN EXPERIENCE!!!! My roommates, my dog and myself took a weekend trip to Big Bear and it was amazing. We stayed in Cabin 12 and our experience was amazing. The staff always kept in touch and returned every call that was missed. They were great following up with us from the first booking to departure. The cabins were very clean and well maintained. Very warm and cozy cabin. The staff were also great by saving the day when we couldn't find other plans. They had great recommendations for things to do when other things were booked on Saturday. It's a very quiet area and my dog as enjoyed it as well. I think this will be a regular vacation spot in Big Bear. read more

I booked a tiny little cabin through booking.com. According to the booking info, I would pay half up front and the other half upon arrival. I booked cabin #23. But when I went to their website, it had pictures of almost every cabin EXCEPT that one. I did some digging and found a few pics online. It was tiny, basically just a bed and a bathroom, but that's all we needed. I paid for half the room with my debit card. A day or two later, another charge appeared for a similar amount. I called booking.com and they told me to call the property. I spoke with a woman who was so defensive, she was more concerned about explaining the 'extra charges' (linen-which I wasn't even questioning) than she was about listening to my problem-that I had been charged twice! She copped an attitude when she realized it was a 'booking.com' reservation and proceeded to complain to me about how it costs them money to take booking.com reservations. Ok, first of all-not my problem. And it's completely inappropriate to tell me that; and second of all-guess what? That's the cost of doing business! No one is making you use booking.com. I ended up calling booking.com back and got the charges squared away. While I was on the phone with booking.com, I mentioned that their site advertised that this cabin had a kitchenette, when it actually only had a small fridge and a microwave. I told her that it wasn't a problem for us, but that it might be a little misleading to some. She told me she would make a note of it. A few days later, I got a text from the property telling me to "please look up kitchenette" with a link to the Wikipedia page. Are you kidding me? What are you, five? Even if I was wrong (I'm still holding my ground and saying that a kitchenette is more than just a microwave), that is entirely inappropriate. Flash forward to 2 days before we are supposed to check in. I get an email saying my reservation has been cancelled due to my credit card being declined. What??? Ok, 1. There was no way my card was declined, because it was my debit card and I had more than enough money in my account to cover the balance of 80-some odd dollars; 2. Why was I even being charged? I thought the balance was due at check in? 3. If you are going to cancel someone's reservation for this reason, wouldn't you at least call them and ask them for another form of payment instead of just cancelling the reservation (that was booked over a month ago and already half paid for) without their knowledge??? That doesn't even make sense! So I called the property and the man I spoke with did seem concerned and said that he was going to look into it and get back to me. I even SPECIFICALLY asked him, will someone call me back on this number? He said yes, because we need to take care of this right away. So, I wait. And wait. No call. No text. No email. The next morning, I emailed them back asking the status of my reservation, and told them that I thought I was going to be contacted ASAP. The email response was 'sorry-we only had your booking.com email.' Really? Then why did the man I spoke with last night tell me someone would CALL me back? Still no explanation as to why my reservation had been cancelled. Anyway, they ended up 'upgrading' us to a bigger cabin with king size bed. Ok, I can deal with that. Except it's upstairs. Oh no. Upon arrival, although the gentleman checking us in was not outright rude, he could not have cared less about us. He offered no map, no lay of the land-didn't even tell us where to dump our trash. He clearly did not want to be bothered. After 30 minutes of lugging all our gear UPSTAIRS (a huge inconvenience, and NOT what we originally booked), we finally settled into the room-which was gross. A rustic cabin is one thing-but this was a run-down, poorly kept, dirty mess. Outside the cabin were old tires/machine parts/junkyard stuff-all out in plain sight. It looked like a junkyard. But inside was even worse. Two of the 3 lightbulbs in the 'chandelier' were out, there were dirty Styrofoam cups mixed in with the clean ones, no trash barrel in the room, the screen in the bathroom window had been cut out, the soap dispenser leaked, the makeshift bed (although a king) was a mattress on top of two stands of some kind, with the headboard nailed to the wall (not securely btw, so every time you moved, you took the headboard with you), the floor was filthy (I very quickly figured that out after taking off my shoes-gross), the 'clean linens' they provided were just tossed on the bed (really-they don't even make the bed, just leave you the sheets?), and the pillow cases were disgusting-stained and with OTHER PEOPLE'S HAIR ON THEM! They had clearly not been changed from the previous guests. But the worst part was that they left out a 'Housekeeping tip envelope.' Seriously? This room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Next time I'll stay someplace where they take pride in their property and appreciate their guest's patronage. read more

After the hell we went through we should have gotten a midweek rate for this room rather than a weekend rate. We left it clean gathered up dirty towels and linens and trash. After speaking with the owners they refunded us some of our money but it wasn't fair. Maybe they felt they deserved a tip " what for?"and they really didn't. I was even told that they rank them selves number one in customer service. I tried not to LMAO. I don't think so. I have advanced fibromyalgia and that room had me in more pain all night then I care to explain. It would take too long. We couldn't even sleep. It was hell. Number one in customer service! No! I probably won't stay here again as it's tinier and a bit more rustic than I prefer. Our first cabin (13) was so tight that we moved after a night. We had to pay the cost for 2 cabins for the night as the cleaning crew had gone home. I understand this. Our 2nd cabin was more breathable. I suggest going into Cabins4less knowing you are being simply sheltered for the night and hoping to be out adventuring during the day. If you want to be close to the shops and restaurants, this isn't the spot for you but it's a very quick walk to boulder bay where you can launch your kayaks. Stayed one night this summer. Cute cabin for two is what I saw on the internet. The outside was indeed cute but the inside was run down. Funky mismatched furniture in living room, kitchen chair had stuffing coming out, bedroom door would not close, curtains wrinkled & half hanging down in living room, floor in bathroom had water damage, shower so small it was laughable. Felt like we were in a complete shack-really depressing. No electricity in the morning from 8:30-9:45 & when I called about it woman on the phone gave me an attitude. Booked cabin #3 for a couple days for my birthday. It was the cheapest cabins I could find and I read the reviews so I knew not to expect the absolute best, but still we were quite content with everything. It was everything we needed for 2 people and 1 dog. The kitchen was equipped enough to easily make small meals. I like that the stove had gas burners. There was a stainless steel double sink and they even included a new sponge and dish soap which was a very nice thought. The main room had a nice, clean faux leather couch and a small flat screen TV that picked up cable easily. They also included a bundle of wood which we used to cook s'mores. The bathroom was small but satisfactory. The water gets very hot very fast and maintains heat for the entire length of our showers (10+min). The bedroom was also small but fit a queen sized bed and a dresser nicely. We chose to bring our own bedding which we didn't mind. We slept very comfortably. The WiFi worked well about 90% of the time. We only had a couple complaints: the main one being our parking spot kept getting blocked by their work truck because they kept parking diagonally. I asked if they could straighten their truck out and they said yes but it was actually worse the next day. Someone had to be out of the car to guide where we were backing out to make sure we didn't hit the truck or cabin #2's car. Even the ppl at cabin #2 said they were gonna say something to the owners because it's ridiculous that truck is parked like that. Our 2nd complaint was that the cleaning could be a bit better. Most of the place was tidy but the floor could've been swept a bit better and the cobwebs near the windows could be taken care of. Oh and some of the decor was dated and random, like the painting in the bathroom was upside down? Overall though we really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back again. It's a very cozy and cute cabin and I highly recommend it if you are on a budget but still want to experience a nice cabin in the woods. Also love that they don't charge hidden fees including no pet fees! And that the whole experience was contactless which was very convenient. Big plus that we were able to get a late check out too!! I fully understand it's supposed to be a rustic cabin. however, no sink in bathroom, a rickety bed that squeaks with the slightest move, a floor that is tilted makes you wonder if you're into your fifth Margarita, no A/C. I've stayed in plenty of cabins over the years that were a pleasure, rustic feel with comfortable and convenient upgrades this was a terrible experience. I would never rent from them again. Absolutely do not stay here. I was bit by their bed bugs, and 3 mon later I'm still itchy up a storm and serious rash and gone thru all the Med w dermatologist, finally I'm half way better. I spent close to $1k to fix this skin issues, detox, sauna, hot bath, herbs etc. Finally getting them under control. They're all over my body, it crippled my life completely, it's a living hell. It makes me hate life! Don't stay here to save a few bucks, it's not worth it! We stayed at one of the downtown cabins location they have. Bugs are everywhere, as you sleep, they crawl on you and stings you as they suck your blood. This is outrageous. Must report them to the authorities. Where, I don't know yet, I'll find out. I even do ozone to kill these bugs! It works but I need to do it multiple times and each time it's $120! Do not stay here, save yourself the bother! Some people don't show symptoms, some do. Quaint, Rustic, and Clean! I highly recommend these cabins. I stayed in Cabin #47 near the Village. I was surprised by how quiet the cabin is considering its proximity to the Village. The cabin was clean and comfortable. I loved the small porch and picnic table (a smaller version to fit the porch). Do yourself a favor and text the number that they send you in the emails. They warn you abt potential traffic conditions and you can interact via text message throughout your stay. read more

Very cute from the outside but much different on the inside! I appreciate the "no cleaning fee" however when you are paying $100 a night or more, the place should at least be clean! Cabin #4 was not only extremely outdated and far from "romantic" as described, it was filthy. I didn't feel comfortable walking on the bedroom carpet without shoes it was so disgusting. We didn't use the shower because it was covered in mold. The living room chair was completely chewed up and stained and smelled. If you aren't easily grossed out by lack of cleanliness you may then just want to consider bringing your own towels and bed sheets. The one provided for $5 are paper thin. The lamp shade was ripped all the way around and the curtain rod was wrapped in duct tape and barley hanging in the bedroom. The issues started before we even left home. As I broke my ankle a week before we were scheduled to go to big bear, I called and inquired about postponing our reservation. Their policy on refund is that you don't get 1. We were going on a holiday weekend so of course the rates were 3 times what they usually are. I asked Joe the manager (apparently one of many as we came to find out) what would happen if we postponed until a non Holiday, like March or April. They won't apply a monetary amount to the replacement reservation, they will only give you nights equal to your original reservation. Our reservation was for 3 nights at $190 per night. This was prepaid. So 3 nights in March being $80 a night should involve some sort of a refund, right? WRONG! They will charge you the same $190 a night because the reservation is already paid for. Even though the online reservation shows the exact same Room being $80 night. This seemed ridiculous and I tried, calmly, to reason with Joe whereas he decided to hang up on me instead of listening to my concerns. When I called back and he answered he claimed that he thought our conversation was finished (even though nobody said goodbye/ thank you or any such thing). Absolutely unprofessional. Rather than get screwed out of hundreds of dollars unnecessarily we decided to keep the original reservation. Because of my broken ankle, what was supposed to be a ski trip turned into 3 days of watching TV. Because of their unwillingness to compromise in any way this was the last time that we will use their services. They have way too much competition there to treat their customers this way. read more

They might as well have called this motel hell. The people at the front desk were pleasant. They promptly checked us in. Upon checking in they gave us a code to get into the room. I was escorted to where the room was and shown how to use the code. The code didn't work the first time so he went back to get the correct code. Not a big deal. He informed us that they had just renovated the room so he hadn't been in since that had happened. He unlocked the room for us and upon going In we were a little shocked at the condition of this place........I thought they had just renovated. See pictures attached. We made the most of it since we weren't planning on spending too much time in there. They need to take a little more pride in their business. Invest some money back into it to make it presentable. Excellent place to stay, as long as you understand what a cabin actually is. Don't expect a five star resort, because that's clearly not what this place is supposed to be. The stand alone cabin#2 was small but very charming. The location of the cabins couldn't be better, the well water was good. The room stayed cool during the day and the fireplace warmed the whole place up nicely at night. This isn't the place to go if you want to party, or expect a million dollar house on a studio apt budget. The area was quiet, close to the village, but far enough that we didn't have to wait three hours for breakfast. The tv was small but that's not what you're there for. The kitchen was well stocked, they provided free firewood, there was plenty of hot water, everything was very clean and the staff was incredibly nice. They offered us free kayaks or bikes which looked to be in good condition. We declined the offer because we had other plans, but it was great to stay in a place that is upfront about the cost of your stay, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. The lake was a two minute walk away, and you pass a convenience store and a restaurant on the way. We didn't have to get back in the car the whole trip except to hit the brewery. We found out on our last night there that there are numbers near the front door for some different restaurants in the area that deliver. There's also a number for a beer and wine delivery service. We didn't get to try that, that's what our next visit is for. We will be coming back here again and again. Our stay was as easy, inexpensive, fun, and cheap as anyone could ask for. read more
