We recently planned a family trip to Big Bear and booked a tour with Big Bear Zipline for a very special celebration involving multiple family birthdays. Unfortunately, due to a mistake on our end when marking our calendar, we missed our original booking date. We absolutely acknowledged and took full responsibility for the error, and respectfully reached out to Big Bear Zipline to explain the situation and see what options were available to salvage the experience. As shown in the attached screenshots, we approached the situation kindly, respectfully, and understanding that businesses must balance policies with customer service. We shared that we were not asking for a free experience, but simply hoped for some understanding given the circumstances and the significant payment we had already made. Despite our efforts to find a middle ground, the business remained firm, reiterating that although they "have compassion," they would not accommodate further without additional payment. While we respected their right to enforce their policy, the interaction felt very transactional, and sadly did not reflect the spirit of hospitality we had hoped for when planning a meaningful family trip. We received one email when we purchased the tickets two months ago and one phone call 10 minutes before our scheduled reservation. In the end, it may have been a blessing in disguise. We explored other activities around Big Bear that felt incredibly welcoming, fun, and family-oriented -- experiences that created beautiful memories we will cherish for a lifetime. Had a great time zip lining for the first time ever. The tour guides are absolutely amazing and safety is always point #1. At no point did I ever feel in danger and everything was run very smoothly and most importantly fun. There's a pouch that you're given that attaches to the harness, so you can bring your phone and take pics/vids. Loved that I had a secure place for my phone. Bathrooms and water are available at the main office as well as the basecamp before you get harnessed up, so you don't have to worry about bio issues. read more

1 Star - Very Disappointing Experience We went on an adventure with Action Tours in Big Bear and decided to rent a GoPro from them for $49 (tax included) so we could record the whole experience. What they never told us was that the SD card only holds about 45 minutes of video... even though the tour lasts 3 hours. Because of that, the camera ran out of space before we even really started, and we didn't get to record the full experience at all. When I called afterward to explain the issue, the staff was extremely rude. They basically said, "You rented a GoPro to get a video, and you got a video," and refused to take any responsibility. They made it clear they don't do refunds, even though they never told us about the recording limit in the first place. Overall, the adventure itself is just okay -- you get what you pay for, nothing extra. But the unprofessional and rude staff completely ruined it for us. Definitely do NOT recommend renting the GoPro, and honestly the customer service alone makes it hard to recommend Action Tours at all. read more

Alexis was rude to us when we checked in. She's in the wrong business. One star off for Alexis. When driving from their office to the zipline site, starting in November, there can be ice on the roads and you might need chains. One of the three cars driving out spun out and ended up on a snow bank on the wrong side of the road. The guides, Riley and ?, were awesome! Very safety conscious, meticulous, and helpful. read more

TLDR; It's an amazing experience with friendly and professional people - would highly recommend. I bought two tickets recently for the full 3 hour tour as my sister recently had a milestone birthday, and found a drive within herself to try some new adventures. She decided a way to capstone her year was to challenge herself to face her fears. Action Tours Zipline was her first choice. She and I spent our childhood exploring the woods of Big Bear, and she said she loved the idea of flying through the trees. And how beautiful it was. Lush green trees, snow patches, and the mountain air make for an amazing experience. The business is within a cabin where you check-in, meet some of the staff, and watch a short safety video. They have clean restrooms, nice places to sit, lockers for larger items, and merch for sale. The ride up the mountain is either in the company's van with their friendly driver, or a personal journey in your own vehicle. Time on the road to the private property where the ziplines are located is about 30 minutes with a short 5 to 10 minute off-road vehicle change to reach some higher locations. There are additional restrooms at the halfway point where you change rides and I'd recommend utilizing them as you wont get another chance until you return to the same area for the last two ziplines. The gear is heavy but definitely makes you feel safer. Putting it on is difficult but the staff were there to assist each person individually to ensure it was all properly fitting. From what we recall there are about 9 total ziplines, with some connected to the zip line immediately next to it. Some of the ziplines are as long 2 football fields and can reach much higher speeds. Your group all zips together one person at a time so make sure you're friendly with your tour group as you'll be strapped up with them for the next hour or so. Luckily this was a lot of fun so everyone is a pretty great mood. Including the staff! Everyone there clearly loves what they do and it shows. They are friendly, easy to talk to, encouraging, and funny. Make sure you watch each of them as they zip as they'll often perform tricks or stunts with one another. The have a tip jar for the employees and zipline guides and we made sure to show our appreciation for a great time with awesome memories. ** I'd recommend bringing boots, warm clothes, sunscreen, tissues, ChapStick, and some gum. ** I would definitely do this again! Next time I'll bring a GoPro for sure. I see they offer additional experiences and I just may try some of their other stuff out. Big Bear is only a short drive from LA so I know I'll be returning. Every aspect of our experience with Action Tours was positive. Their online registration process is clear and thorough. My wife and son went on the tour. We paid and signed the waivers online. When we arrived, the front office folks got us signed in smoothly. They showed a helpful orientation video to the tour group and off they went. After about a half hour shuttle ride up to the zip lines the professional guides got the group into their gear and took them expertly through the nine zip line segments. They were fun but not scary. My husband and I had a great afternoon zip lining in the forest! The team was thoughtful and funny and made the experience fabulous. Some on our tour were very anxious but had an absolute ball by the time we were through just a couple of the nine different lines. The first couple of lines were short and a perfect way to get the hang of things (pun intended). The lines got longer each time and more rapid fire where you zip and immediately clip into the next line. The last two were really long (guide said length of 2.5 football fields. My friend booked a ziplining tour for 12, but our group had to get separated because of Covid. One group was at 9AM and the other group was at 9:30AM. The first group was late, but since it was only their group on that tour, they were able to make it. The other group came 5 mins after the scheduled time and was not able to make it. They say that you have to be there at least 15 minutes early. The lady at the front was rude at first about it, but after we asked questions and explained we were only there for the weekend, she quickly helped reschedule us for the next day. The guys on the tour that explained everything were pretty nice and friendly. I was still drunk from the day before, so half of the time, I was ziplining drunk. We made a reservation online for a Zipline adventure with our family on Monday, January 3rd. We weigh in, and wait for the rest of the group to arrive for our 1 pm tour. The front desk gentleman receives a call at 1 pm that the tour is cancelled because the brake lines were not checked that morning. He asked if we wanted to come in the next day but who is to say the same thing couldn't happen again, where we let the whole day go by and can't do our Zipline activity. The employee was apologetic but it was a bad start to the winter break that we planned. It's hard because I'm sure the owner has to trust that the logistics will be handled by the employees and that everyone does their job but if you have one chance to make an impression, and it's not a good one, sometimes that's all it takes. I'm wondering why this wasn't realized earlier on, why the issue was discovered just as we were about to board the shuttle up. read more

Hands down a must do when at Big Bear. We are regular visitors here- mostly winter season to ski & snowboarding. One of the few times we are here visiting not during a ski/snowboard season. I made reservations online - they advise to arrive 15 mins prior to your scheduled time. I recommend completing the waiver sent via text. Save time. Upon arrival- we waited just a few mins for others to arrive & off we start with safety video before hopping into the van to the site. The van was clean and driver was super nicer. The ride was abt 25 minutes . Enjoy the Mountain Views on your way up! When we arrived - you hop into another vehicle to take you to the actual zipline site. After that ride- a staff was ready for us. The gears were line up neatly & was ready to help our group! The gears took only several mins but there are at least 15 people so just hang tight. Unfortunately, their camera wasn't initially working so they offered to take our photos with our own devices. Only one of the group got their photos taken with their prof. Camera. Their group photo turned out nice! Additional overview safety was provided again by a staff member before we had zipped through the 1st course- it was fun!!!! There were 3 zipline staff during the course whom were all professional, patience and friendly. The entire experience was 3 hours. Totally worth it & highly recommend it! Every member were nice- from Check in staff - driver & course staff. One thing I wished we got were more photos. Several photos were out of focus / our group photos were missing due to camera not functioning at the start of the course. We did pay for the photo package- just wished there were more taken of our group. There were amazing & fun shots of the other groups in our party. I don't believe it's warrant a less star. I hope the manager or owner will read this review & view it as "things we can improve". Overall, our family had a great time & we had wonderful memories. read more

Snow shoe outing review: misleading description and overpriced. Let me start by saying our guide Phil was GREAT! No complaints there AT ALL. The issues we had last Sunday (Feb.18) was that the "3 hour tour" includes the time to drive to and from the trailhead! On that day, it took about 50 minutes out and 35 minutes back. Do the math. Also, they repeatedly talk about transporting customer in their vans (see photos). However, after we checked in, they told us we had to drive our own cars!! No explanation given--and their vans were parked out front (see photo). Scummy. The snow shoeing itself was nice, although you could hear the traffic from highway 38 most of the time. Visited Big Bear this weekend with friends. Unfortunately I was under the weather so opted out of skiing on the mountain and thought there must be some other thrill seeker things to do and found this awesome place! I love ziplining and figured it was my first time in Big Bear why not check it out. There are 9 lines you do along with a wobbly suspension bridge you can walk across. There were only 9 of us which was a great group size and the instructors were fantastic. They really complemented our personalities and were supportive the entire time. As someone who was going by themselves in a group of people who knew each other I still had an amazing time. The van drivers as well are really personable. They tell you all about the history of Big Bear pointing out the different views and what to look out for. Pretty affordable price too. Definitely recommend for people who love a good thrill. read more

We did a zip line tour in the snow and it was awesome! We booked same day and had a great experience with the staff - everyone was so friendly and nice! After a 25 min ride up the mountain in a warm van, we were greeted by two zip line experts. They drove us up to the top of the 9 zip lines off road in a truck. Really fun and unique experience. My girlfriend and I did the Snowshoe Tour and it was amazing and do-able for first timers. Once at the top there are a lot of great picture opportunities with a great view. Our guide Phil was really good at explaining everything we needed to know before starting our tour and he really knows his way around the mountain. We were lucky enough to be the only ones in the tour so he pretty much was our personal guide. Listening to all his stories made the hike even better. Booked a snowshoeing tour with your company. Confirmation stated that transportation would be included. Found out upon arrival that we would have to provide our OWN transportation to the hiking site. We didn't get to the site until 2:30pm. Phil was nice enough to extend the tour til 5pm (originally scheduled until 4:30pm) so we can get more hiking time.
