We rented for 4 hours, we were able to extend for another 4 hours and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful checking in and then extending. My only complaint is the boat was extremely hard to steer left. We brought this up and they didn't have any good response. We rented the preferred Pontoon small boat, and it was not what I would consider preferred. We chose Big Bear over the others in the area knowing it was more expensive... and expected a preferred to be a little nicer. I would have liked to have them offer to do something regarding the issue, which made it difficult for anyone else in my family to captain, but they did not. It will not prevent us from renting here again. But I will be specific to check before for this concern.

My family and I took a marina tour with Paul. We had a wonderful time. Paul was very informative, fun, knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about Big Bear on the tour and took away some fun facts. In addition to this, the views were gorgeous and we enjoyed visiting many of the bays that are in lake Big Bear. Furthermore, the ticket prices were great value. I thought the 22-25 dollars per person for 2 hours was perfect. Thanks for a great tour, Paul!

The staff was great and the boat was amazing. My son and I with my husband had such a great time out on the water.

We booked a tour on the Big Bear Cruzer and would highly recommend it! After booking with two other tour companies in town and having both cancel 30 minutes beforehand because they didn't meet their minimum capacity, we landed here by happenstance -- and honestly, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Captain Paul was absolutely the best! He shared so much history about Big Bear and the lake, and he was incredibly personable and kind. You can tell that he loves his work. He will also give you amazing recommendations on things to do, where to eat, etc. The boat is a pontoon that seats about 20-30 people, and they don't have a minimum, so you don't have to worry about your tour being canceled last minute. They even had blankets available when the wind picked up and it got a little chilly. Take this tour -- you won't regret it!

Capt Paul made a conventional resort lake cruise into a deep dive narrative of history, culture and mountain life and left us with a sense of discovery and appreciation of a place we didn't really know until Capt. Paul enlightened and entertained us for a 90 minute cruise we were a bit sad when it ended. You could feel his love of Big Bear Lake and his job!

We had a great day out. From the moment we checked in to the review of how to use to pontoon, the experience was great. Mike went over everything in detail with us and made it fun with his sense of humor. We will be back again today as Friday was so much fun!

We have rented pontoon boats from Big Bear Marina but we hadn't taken a tour. It was educational and humorous. Highly recommend if you want to learn some history.

Everyone who works at Beg Bear Marina is amazing. Very friendly and professional. They answered all of our questions. They trained us in the operation of the pontoon boat and were there to greet us and guide us to the slip upon return. It was a great day for our family! We will be back!

Ask the Community - Big Bear Marina

Are we able to rent boats & kayaks during november?

No the Big Bear Municipal Water District will have closed the lake by then. Nobody is allowed on the lake in the winter. It is dangerous. Heavy fines for attempting to walk out on the lake.

Do I need to make a reservation for kayaking or no?

Kayaking is first come first serve, no reservation required.

Is parking free at this marina?

Yes, but the lot is relatively small.

The "pirate" boat ride was essentially just a regular boat ride with a captain dressed as a pirate. Other than that, there was really nothing pirate-themed about it. No pirate stories, activities, games, or entertainment. The kids did get to take turns steering the boat, which was probably the highlight of the entire experience. The music kept cutting out because of Bluetooth issues, and at one point random ads started playing over the speakers, which definitely took away from the atmosphere. At the end, the kids got to pick a toy from a treasure chest, but most of the items looked like inexpensive dollar-store trinkets. Overall, the ride was pretty boring and felt like a missed opportunity. With a little effort, this could be a really fun family attraction, but as it stands, it didn't deliver on the pirate experience that was advertised. We love Holloway's and will absolutely continue supporting the marina, but this is not an activity we would spend money on again or recommend to friends looking for a memorable pirate adventure.

Unfortunately, due to a mistake on our end when marking our calendar, we missed our original booking date. We absolutely acknowledged and took full responsibility for the error, and respectfully reached out to Big Bear Zipline to explain the situation and see what options were available to salvage the experience. As shown in the attached screenshots, we approached the situation kindly, respectfully, and understanding that businesses must balance policies with customer service. We shared that we were not asking for a free experience, but simply hoped for some understanding given the circumstances and the significant payment we had already made. Despite our efforts to find a middle ground, the business remained firm, reiterating that although they "have compassion," they would not accommodate further without additional payment. While we respected their right to enforce their policy, the interaction felt very transactional, and sadly did not reflect the spirit of hospitality we had hoped for when planning a meaningful family trip. We received one email when we purchased the tickets two months ago and one phone call 10 minutes before our scheduled reservation. In the end, it may have been a blessing in disguise. We explored other activities around Big Bear that felt incredibly welcoming, fun, and family-oriented -- experiences that created beautiful memories we will cherish for a lifetime. We share this review not out of anger, but to offer honest feedback: mistakes happen, and sometimes, a little flexibility and kindness could leave a much bigger, positive impact on families looking to create lasting memories.

This was one of the most unique and incredible experiences…read more I found Selena on AirBnB Experiences and after reading the reviews knew I had to participate in Forest Bathing. We met at a public parking lot and she drove us in her SUV up into the mountains, to her secret spot in the forest. She provided lots of interesting, educational info along the 15 minute drive. Once we arrived, the experience started. She guided a moderate hike into the forest, showing us all of her favorite things. Fresh water brooks, waterfalls, unique, bold, and beautiful trees. The hike was fairly moderate, Indian Jones-esq at times, nothing too crazy, but not easy. As a plus size/not very active girl, I was able to do it. My 62 year old mom kept up fairly well too! Selena took lots of short breaks for us to catch our breath (elevation for flatlanders is rough!), gave us lots of educational info about what we were seeing, smelling, and hearing. She even provided us with a few edible plants along the way. The hike up to the fresh water source was truly spectacular. Once there we emptied our water bottles and filled them with the ice cold fresh water and guzzled it down. So crisp and clean and YUM! The hike back was just as refreshing. We then spent some time wind bathing, cutting chords, and energy healing, followed by 35 minutes of quiet time meandering the forest on our own. Afterwards we drank a fresh brewed tea Selena had made using ingredients she collected along our hike, and some healthy snacks and more fresh water, which she provided. It was 3 hours of really amazing, energizing, active, relaxing, healing Forest Bathing and for $40pp it was well worth it!
