I've been touring with Captain Chris since 2014 and remain a frequent flyer. As a Big Bear native, Chris is extremely knowledgeable and able to answer any questions you may have. His boat was built specifically for BBL and is able to cruise the nook and crannies of the lake. You have a choice of shade (downstairs) or full sun (my favorite upstairs.) We had a great time in this boat ride! We sat in the center benches of the boat. We came as a group and it was perfect! We even got to hear bugs bunny looney tunes voice actor. This tour was mellow and pretty pleasant. Boat seemed pretty clean. The captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the lake. However, I think the captain should not be wearing political messaging attire (Turning Point shirt). I don't think any political messaging of ANY kind should be used on a tour, especially in a setting where you are totally dependent on the captain or crew. We came to big bear to help get away from all of that and get a break from all the political noise. Feels super unprofessional and alienating to a lot of people. Everyone has a right to their beliefs of course, but I don't want to see it on vacation. read more

We enjoyed our tour on Saturday. We were able to take our french bulldog, which is why we selected this tour. There are no snacks or drinks but that is fine--- who needs that commotion? The first tour of the morning was cancelled due to not enough riders. It costs $20 to park your car closer to the marina. Chris was a good tour guide. read more

While staying in Sugarloaf making memories. I was searching for local thing's to do with my mother in law safely who has Dementia during these tempatures. Pick the day, time slot, send payment, your off on your way to enjoy a 90 mintue tour full of history on big bear lake, the dam !!! Cannot give you more info than that. I choose the 5pm slot hoping to catch views of the sunset coming back in from ride. You cab bring snacks aboard boat carry on pack out. Now that's a great deal. Besides making memories while living in a Dementia world. Captian Jack's Big Queen Bear boat 90 is Dog Friendly Yes !!!!! I'm sold. Well behaved dogs folks. 430 my family and I arrived at parking lot eager beavers we arrived 30 minutes early. We walked on down to catch our boat we were asked to seat ourselves above deck in which I choose to sit with Leo. As be began to descend Captian Jack introduced himself. He is a one man show 7 days a week. He has been providing a relaxing ride with rich knowledgeable history! At the end of the trip just as we are about to exit. Captian Jack offered to be our and every single patron on board photographer. He took 3 photos and we were happy. Wear plenty protection of sun screen if sitting above deck. I most definitely will be back to enjoy another ride. Only downfall we spoke about was the fee for senior which is reasonable however, we noticed the booking fee per senior was at $5.22 booking in which she actually paid for an adult seat plus she was charged more for booking than we were umm ??? I'm a private caregiver so any discounts I can get for my seniors to enjoy themselves I'm all about ! BTW I sat above deck right in back to capture photos downfall I could not hear the history well on board. I had wonderful wind flags flapping behind me. It was truly hard to choose from where to sit. read more

This place cancel peoples reservations for no reason and no notice. Totally wasting our time and messed up our plan. We were told the tour was cancelled only at the check in place. The staffs there said they are not related with Big Bear Queen. We have a school age kid and a one year old toddler. It was hard for us to schedule the trip. Kids were extremely disappointed. I noticed the fair was refunded but not the service fee. So it's basically we paid for service fee for nothing and wasted time. Emailed owner and got a call very late that day. He explained service fee will be refunded with delay. He stopped me telling him how disappointed we were. He admitted it was his oversee, but I cannot have an attitude The way Big Bear Queen treats its customers is very rude. They can easily cancel anything without notice but customers cannot see a word for that. Overall, it the worst experience we had for all our trips. read more

The family and I took a little tour so we can learn about big bear itself. Our skipper Chris was a good host and taught us some good stuff about big bear. While we didn't have the best weather we had a great experience and would highly recommend this tour to everyone! Chris does this tour 7 days a week at least twice a day yet his presentation of what we were seeing and the history of the lake didn't sound at all like a recording. He was easy to understand and hear; a very personable guy who must love what he does! IMO- the best seats are at the lower level at the very front of the boat. We went out on the first trip of 2024 and the lake was so beautiful and high. Chris, was so great and knowledgeable! He was friendly and well spoken. We really enjoyed the trip. It was comfortable and roomy too. We went around the whole lake and it was awesome. We would take the tour again and will be sure to share the recommendation with family and friends. Very enjoyable and informative tour of the lake! Captain Chris is friendly and knows the history of the area well. He is willing and able to answer your questions. We sat in 3 different locations during the tour and could hear him in all of them-lower deck, upper deck, and bow. If you have hearing difficulties, the upper deck was the most difficult, due to the breeze blowing past, but we were still able to follow what Chris was saying. The sunset cruise was amazing in itself. However the male tour guide was very unpleasant. I showed up at 615 to purchase tickets for the 630 cruise but he was nowhere to be found. So I got on the boat last to buy my ticket and he went "well you should have got here earlier" even tho it took a matter of 2 seconds to buy it. Then i asked if there was an atm near by and he made me feel like that was a dumb question and all cuz I wanted to leave a tip. And lastly they had blankets to give out so i simply asked "are you guys able to wash these between tours" and he sarcastically went "well yeah thats why we have them in the bag, if you're that anal just don't use them". I think I have a right to be a little anal in the age of corona when I came on a boat solo to see no care of social distancing. I even saw groups of 6 on this boat.
