I had bought a mountain bike from World after wrecking my old bike. I won't name the brand because that's not whats is important here. To say the least the bike had a very unique creaking sound when I would ride. The staff would always pay close attention to my concerns about the bike. Since it was new I was concerned about what I would be dealing with after it was out of warranty since the performance of the bike was amazing. After several trips in to the shop with the team trying everything to fix it they contacted the manufacture who gave them a list of things to try. The list included things the guys had already done. It was decided that the best option was to get me into another bike and they would send the bike back to the manufacturer. This is once again where the team shined! They offered me a couple of upgraded bikes to choose from for a VERY reasonable price. I couldn't be more pleased with how I was and continue to be treated by everyone. This is my go-to shop for service on my mountain bike - at least for the things I can't fix myself. Put simply: this is the best bike shop in Boise. Here's why: - Best Service: often, you get the same sort of dismissive service at bike shops as you do at record stores. Not the case the WC. If service is a lost art, then they have a bunch of Picassos working there. I've never experienced anything but the best effort from anyone of their employees whenever I've gone in there. And the owner, Tom, is awesome. He's a great supporter of the community and promotes the sport of cycling in Boise. - Best Wrenches: their mechanics get it right the first time, every time. Tune-ups can be a little on the pricey side, but if you come back with some cable stretch, your brakes go wonky or your shifting gets choppy, they fine tune it for free. - Great Products: and they stand behind them. These days, any of the bike shops carry good gear, and WC is no exception. Their sales people are dedicated to making sure you walk out with the right bike for you. And if you're not sure and want to shop around, that's fine too. But be warned: you will not be treated better at any other shop than you will at WC. This place has been nothing but great to me! I have had a crazy year of goat heads and been in more than my fair share of times. Courtney has been incredibly helpful on more than one occasion. I appreciate the fact that the staff is informative and friendly while not being overbearing. They layout is simple - things are easy to find, and in general the building is well maintained and the shop incredibly clean. I feel very comfortable leaving my precious bikes in their hands. Decent place. Not a big selection for the size of store. Odd layout. Floor employees have always been helpful. Still fairly new to the area so I imagine they will just get better. This is where I get my bike tuned. The guys are very nice and at one point were willing to refer me to another shop that specializes in my brand. Some clothing and accessories, and some very pretty bikes for lusting after. Unless it is the super busy pre-racing season, the turnaround on tunes is always very fast. Perfect location downtown, air outside at 30psi I believe. I'm probably wrong, but it's not very high. read more

I seem to have had quite a different experience than everyone else so far. So strike this up to the people there having a bad day.... I went in on Thursday, June 2 hoping to speak with someone about new road bikes. I was told to look "over there" and then forgotten. One employee was on the phone and the other two were talking to each other. After about 10 minutes of cruising around waiting, I left. Their loss though because I bought a new bike somewhere else. They have a pretty decent selection of road, mountain, cruisers, and other models (recumbent, adult trikes, ect). read more

I bought a pretty standard combo bike lock about 8 weeks ago that suddenly stopped locking. I wondered if I had accidentally reset it, but didn't know since the staff set it for me. I went in and the floor staff couldn't reset it. Then the manager came out to try. After a couple minutes of trying he apologized and got out a new lock for me, and set my code as well. I guess my lock was a lemon and they had no problem replacing it--which was great to hear since I am a student with limited funds. Grateful to them for coming through on their products. read more

I called World Cycle after being burnt at another bike store. I wasn't expecting the awesome service that I received, but they went the extra mile, heck they went the extra five. I was looking for a particular bike and style, they didn't have it, but they helped me find it in the on line catalog and got me hooked up. Not only was it the bike I have been so desperately looking for, but at a discount price of over $100 off the store that I just left in anger. Do not bring your bike here. I brought my bike here to make sure it was good to go for the start of the season, and the tech tried to sell me a bunch parts that had just been replaced on top of their already expensive tunes.The store is clean, but there is no selection. read more

In the last 2 weeks I have been to 9 or 10 bike shops in Boise, Most were very knowledgeable of what is out there in the Mt. bike world. I went to another shop and bought a bike for myself, that experience was a clusterf#*k but they ended up fixing the issue and made me happier, but I don't feel any loyalty to that shop. But there are some very good shops in Boise. My son spent most of last weekend riding the various Brands that Boise's bike shops have to offer, I had him try many bikes so he could figure out what he liked and why he liked it. World Cycle & XC Ski was the last bike shop on our list for the day, I told them what I was looking at and what I wanted to spend, he told me that they didn't have anything in that price point in the shop but they could get me one that was a lower priced model of one they did have in the shop. So I had my son try the more expensive priced model seeing it was the same brand and frame but with upgraded parts. My son came back in from the test drive with this huge smile on his face, I knew at that moment I was going to buy that bike not the one they had to order. The Manager said that if I came back at the end of the week it would be on sale. I said that I could do that. so I called him on Wednesday and asked him if the bike was still there, he said yes. So He put my name on it to hold it but he didn't pull it off the floor. I was in town today and stopped off at REI and they have access to the same bike if I ordered it on line and it would be one sale at the end of the week and I just got my 20% off card in the mail. Sorry the 20% doesn't work on ANY REI bike onsite or otherwise. Can't blame a guy for working the angles, Right. So I called World Bike when I got home, and talked to Courtney and told her my issue that happened to me with the other bike shop about selling a bike that I placed on hold and put $500 down on. She said her Husband put the bike for my son in the back on hold no money down, I was happily shocked and surprised, and I put money down on it to make them happy as well. Do you really need to know anything else, they are going to make a 13yr old boy extremely happy. That is old school, bike shop skills. Thank you World Cycles. read more
