Great place to fix, upgrade or build a bike if that's your inclination. Often very busy and under thanked staff but they do so much to help as many people as they can. read more

I had such an amazing experience at Boise Bicycle Project! I came in expecting a simple fix, but ETHAN went above and beyond to help me with more than I even realized needed attention. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely took the time to teach me along the way instead of just doing the work and sending me on my way. I left feeling not only confident in my bike, but also more informed and empowered as a rider. It's rare to find someone who is both skilled and so willing to share their knowledge. Ethan made the whole experience welcoming, comfortable, and actually really enjoyable. I can't recommend Boise Bicycle Project enough! This is the kind of place that truly cares about people and the biking community. Thank you again Ethan! - Carly Rapp read more

The BBP is a powerful contributor to improving life in Boise with their Open Streets Boise, ongoing youth bike repair days, search and destroy puncture weed events, and their shop. If you're looking for any small part, go in and explore the room with bins and bins of goodies. The fully stocked-with-tools workshop area that can be reserved looks awesome - I've never used it myself. They've always been grateful for the many bikes and bike part donations that I've offered. read more

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, lots of options for parts and upgrades for my bike. And I'm happy they were able to take a couple old bicycles of mine and use the parts to share with others! read more

They were super helpful when I was picking out a bike, they let me test drive it and everything. It was great for peace of mind knowing everything was already fixed and that there was a warranty in case anything went wrong the first 30 days. Thank you Boise bike project! read more

Great selection of bikes, for very reasonable $$. Thrilled with the bikes we found for the kids. read more

We had donated bicycles before at Christmas time, but decided to take our granddaughter here when it came time for her to find a new bike for her size. The staff went above and beyond in helping her locate the bike of her dreams at a very reasonable price. This is a wonderful project to support to donate and now purchase bikes as well. What a great way to give back to the community both ways! read more

Best bike shop in Boise! Great people, bikes and parts. A Boise Gem that I always look forward to going to! read more

I can't speak high enough of this place. Every time I tell someone about it, I have flash backs to pure bike building bliss. I was scared to step in the door. I just didn't know what to expect. I sure am glad I bit the bullet and just carved time out to go. Everyone that is here has their own unique personality and teaching style. Some people are extremely helpful and stand by you to make sure you are on track, others check in often but step back to give you some space to learn while others leave you be to struggle a bit. (That isn't a bad thing.) I have learned more about bikes and how to take them apart, clean, and reassemble almost seamlessly, note the word, almost, because of the difference in teaching styles. Because of these wonderful and different mechanics, I am better each visit. I tend to learn better by struggling a bit but I need (still do) someone to hold my hand a bit more to make it through a bike processes I don't know. Because each person is unique at BBP, I have learned several ways to do one process which allows me to find my personal best fit. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and has a passion for doing what they do. Just join! Learn! Grown! Go to their classes, volunteer for a good cause. Giggle and ask questions. There are new and used parts galore so if you have a problem or question about your bike, member or not, come into BBP to learn how to solve your problem! Love! read more

Great place! From Reno and frequent the Reno Bike Project often, so seeing there was a Boise Bike Project we had to come check it out! Same idea, a bunch of odds and ends pieces to fix up bikes with a bunch of work stations in the back and knowledgable staff. They also have a large selection of bikes for sale, all reasonably priced. Definitely recommend if you need a bike fixed or want to learn how to do it yourself read more

Always phenomenal! Incredibly helpful staff, great selection, and affordable prices. Highly recommend as your first stop--definitely worth a membership. Note, BBP helps (you learn how to do it yourself) with regular maintenance (i.e. tires, drivetrain tuning, etc), but not major services (i.e. suspension rebuilds). So, as long as your expectations are appropriate, you'll find BBP to be one of the best parts of Boise! read more

Do NOT recommend this place. Not grateful for the donations or the people who bring them, they don't greet you and they scream at you as soon as you walk in the door to put a mask on which we have no problem with. We carry and I happen to drop a mask my bf goes to pick it up and of course it pokes out, it was concealed for the respect of others and do not mind taking it off if it's a known place that doesn't allow them however right after yelling at us to put a mask on the guy goes "you need to go take that off!" That's not how you ask politely. Rude disrespectful ungrateful people. read more

Reading through some of the other reviews and one hit it on the head, it is hard work to donate to BBP! I totally love the fact they help kids who need bikes and biking supplies, and we have supported them with donations in the past. Today my husband went down with 3 bikes (I might add, they all were in pretty great shape, needed some new tires, or realigning the wheels) After unloading all 3 a girl comes out the door and says "those need to go to the back" and shut the door. Um.. OK, so he wheeled each of them around to the back. He then went in to the shop, saw the blank donation slips and picked up a couple and waited for her to acknowledge he was even there. Apparently she didn't want to be at work today. He said "Excuse me" and her response was "Yea?" He asked about the donation slips being filled out and she said she would be with him in a bit. Really, there was not another sole in the shop and she wasn't on the phone, so what was the issue? Usually when we make donations to our community we walk away feeling really great about what we did, but today I was just glad our 10 year old son wasn't there to witness the rudeness demonstrated. read more

I was very excited to come here because I just bought a bike, needed some minor adjustments and I heard so many great things! I was quickly let down. No greeting at any point of my short-lived visit, I stood in line for over 5 minutes to then be skipped by the individual behind the counter as they helped someone who was also a walk-in and had just literally walked into the shop. After she started helping the customer who arrived after me, I approached the counter--I was next. Then another employee returned to the counter, looked me straight in the eyes, ignored me and turned to assist one of their co-workers. It was at that point I made my decision to figure it out on my own. This probably isn't the typical experience for most customers and for that I am grateful! I am however, very disappointed with my experience and probably won't return. read more

I have a hard time understanding how there are so many bicycle shops open in Boise when BBP exists. I love my 1960s Schwinn road bike as much as the next hipster, and this place always keeps my beloved up and rollin'. What is so fantastic about BBP is they actively engage their customers in the repairing process. You stand with the staff member in the back, helping them tighten/loosen parts. If you're more advanced, they let you take the reigns even more. They charge $10/hr +parts for non-members. I usually walk out of there spending under $15, for issues that made my bicycle unusable. I'm a happy girl! I know any other bike shops in the area, I wouldn't be so lucky. The staff is SO kind, and SO competent. I always have a pleasant experience here. You can tell they want this city to love bikes as much as they do. I'm a huge fan of local non-profits, and BBP is such a beautiful example of a non-profit done right. I'm so proud to have my bicycle worked on here, and I'm so proud to have a business like this in Boise. *Keep in mind that this place is getting more and more popular. In Spring and Summer, the wait may be a little while. Go on an afternoon where you don't have concrete plans 1 hour later. read more

I always get great help at BBP. Each volunteer mechanic has been patient, knowledgeable and highly skilled. A great experience with Camille this week as she showed me how to get my bike in tune. read more

EXTREMELY helpful staff here. Moved to Boise about 2 months ago and Patricia was amazing with helping me out. Found the perfect bike for riding around campus and Boise for a great price. We had 4 older bikes that needed some TLC. I showed up about 10 min before they opened at 11. I rang the doorbell out behind the store and 2 kids came out. Let's refer the the male as "Chad" or "Kyle". Chad/Kyle looks at the female employee and rolls his eyes. I said " I have some bikes to donate". Chad/Kyle looks at the female, and says " We aren't even open!" He then leans on my truck like he owns it and says " we can't help you". I said " I'm trying to GIVE you 4 bikes, am I supposed to throw them away?" Chad Kyle says "yeah we have too big an inventory right now." At this point I was pretty shocked and confused. I've heard shady things about them, I guess they aren't willing to work on a bike to get it to work. Pretty pretentious and arrogant for a "charity" based organization. At least it use to be. Plus Chad Kyle seemed to enjoy being shitty at customer service due to his grin. He ensured me that they are not what is advertised. read more

The purpose of having a place like this is so that people can go in to fill their bike tires up or even learn how to give your own bike a tune up. I mean, it's a nonprofit bike shop that is suppose to be for the communities best of interest... Right? But you really get is some pretentious a$!holes. When you go into a location that was begun with the motto, "How can we make bicycles and bicycle education available to the entire community?" Well, I'll give you an example of the hello you get when you walk into the door........ Yeah silence is about it, but you do get a sassy look from one of the paid staff. What a way to walk into a place that is suppose to be helping you! I could only imagine a person that knows nothing about a bike and is shy to learn about them walking into this place. I will begin with my last two experiences at Boise Bike Project: I walked in to a big woman sitting in a chair that just eyed me all wrong without greeting me or even saying anything. I asked, " can I use a bike pump real quick, cause I think my bike pump just shot the s^|t and didn't pump my tires up adequately." She was not busy btw, but she had time to roll her eyes and point to the bike pump leaning against the wall. I guess I was in the wrong and definitely felt uncomfortable to use their bike pump that is free at every bike shop in Boise! Second time going into BBP, I was looking for a bike part and I was going to have them assist me with some bike maintenance. They were busy with a couple of people, so I just asked for the bike part and was pointed in the direction of the bolt bins. I bring my dog with me everywhere I go... Mainly cause she is a SERVICE DOG! Now because I let my dog be a dog, I will not put her vest on unless she is required to for a location of business or whatever. Just so you know, I have PTSD from being Army Infantry for 6 years and spending 2 of which in the Middle East, so taking a service dog with me everywhere is legally legit. She was not identified as a service dog at the time so I won't press anymore on the topic. Jimmy brings his dog to work on a daily basis and his dog is not friendly, matter fact, that dog tried attacking my service dog. When I asked who's dog it was everyone acted like I didn't say anything and kept doing what they were doing like nothing happened, so I began to leave and that freaken dog tried to attack my dog again on the way out. I don't think a good citizen of the community should have this issue at a nonprofit. This especially when this topics was brought up later to the owner (Jimmy Ha) of the dog was brought to the attention of the matter and his response was, "I don't understand why people bring their dogs to the shop all the time?" To that statement I say, "You take your dog to work almost everyday you dumba$$!" I actually think my service dog is smarter than this guy. Sorry, guess I shouldn't talk about the founder of this establishment like that. Maybe a founder should apologize for the actions of his people and beast instead of diverting the blame into somebody else's problem while in a conversation with a person that has concern about his establishment. I am a avid cyclist that can give a normal person advice about where to buy, fix, or work on your bike around town without using BBP. So I will leave my personal email if anyone needs assistance. My goal is to have this establishment reform or close down. I will not be treated like this ever again! read more

Anyone who claims to have had a bad experience here must have a chip on their shoulder or misunderstand what the BBP is. The shop is like a thrift store for bike parts, and the membership is an amazing community of volunteers working to empower people to ride and understand their bikes. Sure, sometimes things don't work perfectly--they are used (and a deal)! But help is always swift, friendly, and genuine. This is one of the institutions that makes Boise wonderful. Long may they keep patching tires and giving away bikes to kids. read more

Extremely disappointed in the customer service. I had to work at donating 6 bikes! Rude Rude Rude! Wish I had taken my donations anywhere else! read more

We have purchased two bicycles here for my wife and son and the staff were very helpful. I also brought my own bicycle in and received assistance from the mechanics. I am a novice to bike repair and the mechanics didn't make me feel bad/ashamed for being inexperienced with repair work or that the repairs were so simple (I could have done them at home in 3 minutes). I support non-profits that have good financials, great mission and serve the community with vigor. For these reasons, I have given money and plan to give time to the BBP. read more

My husband went into donate bike and was treated so poorly, he was ready to throw bike in the gutter outside of shop. Person that greeted him inside was not helpful at all other than to tell me to take bike down the alley. During Christmas last year we donated a new bike and were treated so much better. Staff came and took bike out of truck and into store and thanked us several times for our donation. After this, not sure we will be back with our Christmas donation of a new bike for the project. Need to work on customer service. read more

Was there yesterday and saw all the kids getting their free bikes and helmets. The staff and volunteers @ the event were amzaing, esp: Adam, Clancy & Tyler. My son is 12 and not eligible for a free bike but Adam and Clancy helped him fix the flat on his back tire so he could participate in the safety training. A staff person whose name I didn't catch insisted he keep the helmet so he'd have one in case he couldn't find his at home. All the kids were so jazzed to get their bikes and I overheard one older boy say; 'hey mom, best day ever!' What a great asset to the community the BBP is! Also please donate your kid's outgrown bicycles here to be reused and gifted! read more

The folks at Boise Bicycle Project are knowledgeable about bikes and seem to emphasize bicycle education. I have been coming in on Fridays to fix my bike and take their member classes. I finally feel that I can routinely work on a bike without much help now. Full bicycle competence is coming into reach thanks to BBP. They also seem to be doing a good job balancing Sales with customer service. I can always find knowledgeable help here. read more

Owner/Founder is extremely rude, very unprofessional individual. Told another one of his fellas that he had already answered my question and what do I think that please was. I have seen a few people mad because the bikes that were sold to them, that were junk and not what they say they were. Parts you buy brake, the somewhat good ones are to expensive to pay for. Anyway I am done with this place. I wish I could take my 50 $ or something membership money back cause I feel like robed. read more

BBP is one of my favorite places in Boise. The staff are knowledgeable but welcoming. Plus, every purchase goes to an organization that makes incredible positive impact on the community. read more

I walked in this place only knowing how to adjust my bicycle seat. I literally didn't even know how to hang my bike in the repair stand. They have hands on training with people that actually care. Sometimes these guys get busy and they are not by your side at all times, but that is the point. If you get stuck with something they will lead you through the process. Most bike places turn their nose up when you mention the words: Used Bike. This is not the best place if you are looking to just watch someone fix your bike. This is a place where people show you how to properly maintain/customize/repair your bike. i just moved to Boise from San Francisco, and this is one of the coolest concepts when you take a second and actually think about what they are trying to accomplish. This is an organization helping the homeless man, the rich yuppy from New York, the redneck with jorts, Lance Armstrong's cousin or the struggling college student. It is a place for all to have a dependable ride at an affordable price. This organization is improving the Boise Community in many aspects, so I really don't understand some of these sketchy reviews. Thanks BBP! read more

Great local business. They really helped us with our daughter's bike after her seat was stolen, with the pole that goes under the seat. The helped us find a replacement for the parts at a very reasonable charge and even fixed up the brakes for free. I will be back again for any future bicycle needs. This business also helps disadvantaged kids get bikes so definitely check them out. read more

BBP is a great place to get help with your bike. Most days Stanley, the shop dog will be there to greet you. The staff is friendly and competent and will help you work on your bike. Classes are offered to build your repair & safety skills. Quality affordable bikes are available, & BBP also donates refurbished bicycles to qualifying children & adults each year. Like all bike shops, things get busy at times, but you can usually find something to read or someone to chat with until a staff member is available to assist you. Stop in and check out BBP - it is a cool place! read more
