This shop is a short ride from my house, which is why I chose it, and I am glad I did. It's a small, locally owned shop with a coffee shop inside. The bike service prices are reasonable, and while you might have to wait a bit longer, it's worth it. The bike mechanics are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are always helpful and great with answering my novice questions, along with an easy sense of humor. I tried the coffee last time and it was delicious. Lots of tasty bean/roast options. I am a coffee snob, so i wouldn't just say this if it wasn't meaningful. Overall, I love this shop and will continue to come back for all of my bike needs. read more

The technician even went the extra mile and tweaked other little things on the bike, which I greatly appreciated. The return time was magnificent, with just a day of turn around. Their coffee shop space is neat as well, and I appreciate how both parts of the whole are so integrated with each other. I thought--Bikes and Beans? What? Is this like one of those gas stations that sells live bait? Why do two seemingly disparate things? However, Bikes and Beans sold me on the fact that they could do at least one of the two things they advertise really, really well. I don't know about their bicycle services, since I haven't used them, but I have tried their beans, and they are absolutely on point where it comes to coffee. When I ordered I was impressed that they offered four different espresso varieties and I could choose what my drink was made of. Each espresso was labeled with tasting notes, so I could find my preference based on that. None of the other shops in Boise that I know of offer such a detailed level of customization. After that, the barista made me a lovely americano from my espresso. The espresso was perfect--rich, sweet, and smooth, and I could taste the chocolate and fruit that was promised in the description. Despite being high-quality espresso, the price for my drink was the same as I've paid at other local shops. The menu here is like everywhere else, with espresso beverages and brewed coffees. They didn't seem to have a huge number of flavored drinks or complicated blended drinks, which was fine with me, but if that's your preference you might want to go elsewhere. For food, they had some light pastries, and their muffins and bagels looked pretty good. I don't think they're baked in house, but the barista said they're fresh. The seating area here is large and mixed with both tables, a broad sofa, and cozy chairs. They were playing an excellent playlist and I have to say that I'd come back for the music alone. They offer some games for kids and a little lending library, which is a nice touch. In the back there is an area for bike tuning, and I think they might sell some bikes, but I ignored that while I was focusing on my amazing americano. Definitely check this place out. There's easy parking, and it's in a coffee desert on Vista. The barista here was very friendly and welcoming as I came in, so you'll feel like you're right at home when you arrive. read more

Not just that, but they have fresh ground beans on the counter you to smell before making your choice. It is a bit clunky looking from the outside, but plenty of fun seating inside. First the barrista Graze was extremely friendly and helpful and had me sniff which coffee I got to choose out of four. I got a delicious perfectly made macchiato from Ethiopian dambi udo beans. I brought my bike and my friends bike for service. I needed to get my bike taken care of pretty quickly because I was taking it to Hawaii for rides. They went through mine and fixed my buddies bike within a day! I was most impressed because when we walked in, they were busy! Lots of people chatting and getting coffee. In other occasions I have had their coffee, I enjoy it every time and they always have good suggestions if you're not sure what to have. Come in for coffee! If you have one, bring your bike! Great coffee and great people. One stop for bike needs and coffee. There was a great vibe in this place.

Went in for 2 break adjustments with the back breaks on two different bikes. Took 2 weeks to complete after calling a few times for them to get to it. Upon arrival they did all breaks on both the bikes making them worse than before where you could pull the break down to the handlebar plus some and scratched up the bike up and down. When asked why they charged me for both breaks they said that's standard so $180 for both bikes just for breaks and they refused to refund and said they would fix the breaks right then and there and admitted they were awful. The owner approached me and said he would pay for the electronic display that was scratched up. then failed to do so after time and time again saying he forgot and eventually stopped responding 5 months later. Hate to do this to a small business but I had a really crappy experience here. Not the place to get your bike serviced. I went in with an extremely simple request and that is for them to switch my bike tires. Was told that'd be 30$. More expensive then what I'm used to paying but I said fine since boise gear collective is closed now. I can only pick my bike up after 4 pm and since they close at 6 and I came in at 5:30, I said I could pick it up the next day around the same time. I arrive a little early at 4:30 the next day. My bike had not been serviced and the men working had no idea what I wanted to do to my bike. I explained I want my tires switched, I had left 2 sets of tires with them. They proceeded to mansplain the difference between each of my tires and that the tires already on there are better then the ones I want to switch them to, unless of course I want a faster ride. Funny part is, that's exactly what I do want! So I say have a good day, thank you for your time and I leave with my bike and my tires. Thank you for the info that I didn't ask for and already realized, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Good luck. Some suggestions on how to improve to leave this post on a positive note: Set expectations as far as how long the service will take. Communicate with your associates/team members. Have notes you can refer to on job request. Set fair pricing. Understand customer needs so you can meet them in a timely manner. Respectful, if no one asks, no need to mansplain. read more
