Ryan, Patrick and crew are the best in the biz. They're always willing to go above and beyond to provide the best service possible. I had them do a frame up custom build for me and they were great to work with. Ryan took the time to talk with me about what my wants were, and helped me pick out parts that suited me best. They were very informative when I picked up the bike and explained everything they had to do to the bike, and the pricing was very fair. Their communication throughout the whole process was stellar as well. Just recently, I was in there and Jake immediately greeted us asking if we could use any help. He provided my mom with information regarding town bikes and answered all of her questions. Patrick then gave me advice on what I could do to become a more well-rounded rider. One of my favorite things about Eastside is how passionate about the sport the guys are, and their willingness to help anyone who comes into the shop. Eastside Cycles is out of my way. Idaho Mountain Touring, George's, etc., is my neck of the woods. But one weekend, when looking for a shop that could fix a flat, I decided to give Eastside a try. I'm glad I did. I've only had small jobs performed by them (flat fixes, tire replacements, etc.). I've only been there a few times. But with just those few experiences, they've created a big fan. They offer top-notch customer service. Every time, within seconds of entering, they have always immediately welcomed and acknowledged me and offered service. Their "service bay" is right out in the storefront. A bike repair stand sits behind the sales counter, alongside a multitude of tools. It provides an element of transparency. In addition, when you ask about an upgrade or fix, you're likely talking to the same fellow responsible for performing that service (if not, they're probably part of the crew present). Their shop has the components you would expect, and prices along the same lines. It's smaller than most bike shops, but they make good use of the space they have. As a Boisean, if looking to browse a wide selection of a specific component, ordering online is the only way to have a full array of options at your fingertips -- even Performance Bicycle doesn't seem to offer all the options. If shopping, Eastside is worth a stop -- or at least a phone call. My latest request for service was to get a new wheelset that I had ordered for my fixed gear prepped to to ride (tires/tape/tube). The other day I was looking at it, and noticed that the logos on the tire were perfectly aligned with the decals on the rims. That's when I realized it's long past time to give Eastside the 5-star review they deserve. They gained extra kudos for both their timeliness and patience in fulfilling this order. They were out of Gator Hardshells in the size I wanted, and needed to order some. The estimated date, about a week out, was spot on: I received a text alerting me that the wheels were ready the very day that was predicted. The kudos for their patience were earned by them tolerating my delay in picking them up... I was slammed with work, and couldn't find the time to make it out there. I was riding my bike to work during this time, and as I'm sure anyone who has attempted to carry a wheelset on a bike knows, it's not the ideal chore after a hard day's work. Well, they texted me again probably 3 weekends later regarding my pending work order. I dragged myself over in an effort to do the right thing, as they had clearly done so and more themselves. Fast-forward to today. I'm riding the wheelset they prepped for me. Everything is grand -- just the reason I picked that shop. I had faith that they would deliver a reliable product, but considering the alignment of the tire logos with the decals on the wheels, they also delivered an attractive product that suggests that their mechanics pay attention to details. I'm more impressed than ever. All in all: If you're looking for a bike shop, Eastside is more than worthy of your business! read more

A year later, I moved across town and I still make the 20 minute trip to Eastside because their service is absolutely phenomenal! Their prices are very reasonable, they always finish when they promise to, and they are straightforward to work with. They have gone the extra mile for me several times when I needed to get a bike repaired on a tight deadline, or needed to be able to pick up my bike after-hours. They explain what they're doing and why and take the time to educate me. They remember my bike and its history and what kind of riding I do, and they make me feel valued as a customer. We took all four of our bikes in for tune-ups. They did a great job on checking all of our bikes including 2 kid's bikes. The bikes were ready as they promised, it is understandable that they are busy and they did inform us that before giving us an estimated pick-up date. Eastside is fantastic! I am an old mountain biker and used to race in the early 2000s. I have a 2002 Santa Cruz ultralight that I have always loved. It needed new wheels and tires after all these years. I went to 2 other shops in town and they simply wanted to sell me a new bike with lower end components. I'm pretty sure they looked at me as an old lady (I am but back in the day.....). Eastside was fantastic! They spent the time understanding what I needed and delivered. They had to build the wheels because they were 26 inches. I picked up the bike this morning and just finished a 2 hour ride. I have my old bike back - it's quick, quiet and light again! I've been to every bike shop in this town and Eastside sets a high bar. I special ordered a bike for my son that was on backorder and the communication regarding the timing was great. Bike came in, they called me on Friday morning letting me know they could get it built so we could take it camping that day (we had already left town Thursday night). Came in and picked the bike up on Wednesday. Bike was ready to roll including complimentary slime in the tubes which a lot to shops charge even when buying a new bike. Excellent communication, follow through and overall customer service. And oh ya, they carry the nicest young kids bikes in town-Prevelo bikes. read more

Let me start by saying I am not a cycle person. I don't visit cycle shops often and this is the first time ever visiting one. I live no where close to this place but I personally know someone who works here on occasion and he assured me they would not take advantage of me. My visit was precipitated by our baby stroller having flat tires. We went to Eastside Cycles and was welcomed with a friendly smile upon entering. We were explained our different options for a fix and found the prices to be very reasonable. This may surprise some people but the price we were quoted was the price we paid. First met the owner when he worked as a tech. at Reed Cycles in Eagle. I would go 20 miles out of my way to get quality personalized service. I was thankful Eastside Cycles was open for the start of the Lyle Pearson 200 because I needed a new tire because the one on my bike had a slice in it. I went over to buy a replacement tire ($70) and then they said it would be $10 to do the install. I was in a hurry and reluctantly agreed. It just seems to me that when you drop $70 on a tire that installation, which took them less than five minutes, shouldn't cost me anything. The kid working the counter says he didn't have any flexibility on the matter. Well, I have flexibility on where I shop and it won't be at Eastside Cycles any time soon. read more

Our family loves to ride bikes, but we are far from knowledgeable about how to maintain them. It was so great to be able to take them to experts who walked us through all of the necessary repairs and even let us know if they didn't think we needed to waste our money on certain new parts that we were afraid we might need. My mountain bike has been in dire need of a good tune-up. I took my bike in for an assessment. The guys told me I would be fine getting a minor tune, and that a major tune wasn't necessary. It's really great knowing a business isn't out to nickel and dime me just to up-sell and make more money. My brake has been rubbing against my rear bike wheel. I called before I dropped in and they gave me some pointers over the phone to see if I could fix it myself. I tried but I couldn't get the quick release to release (yes, I'm weak!). Since they live close to me I rode my bike over and they graciously aligned the wheel properly, asked me to take it for a quick test. I did and it was fine except I still heard a noise. Found it in the front. Rode back and told them what I thought it was and sure enough, that was it. He fixed it :) All said & done, they probably spent 10-15 minutes with me but didn't charge me a dime. Even though I offered. These guys were great with me today. I'll definately be going back for repairs, if needed, before I purchase a new bike... and when I shop for a bike I'll be checking them out for sure! I LOVE good customer service! read more

Went here to get a spoke replaced after it somehow sheared in the middle. While I had my bike in I had them take a look at the shifting, which had gotten squirley over the past year or so. They took care of the fix in a day, called me after taking a look to confirm what needed to be done and make sure I was ok with the repairs/cost before doing it. Shifting came back like new, price was very reasonable, and plan on making this place my new go-to shop. Open until 7 in the summer which helps someone like me who works til 6 most days. read more

Apparently it was still in pretty good shape and since it is also a fixie and not complicated, they actually gave me a discount! We love this place! I had to bring my [craigslist] bike in for my axle that was bent. They tried to bend the axle back, it accidentlly broke, they ordered a new one and did the repair. Just over $20 for the part and labor (was impressed with the price). Three to four weeks go by and the same wheel is having some problems. Without calling I strolled on in and he put the bike on the stand and started working on it. He was the only guy working and of course he was slammed with phone calls and customers. My daughter and I took a walk to the candy store down the street, came back and the bike was good as new. No charge, awesome!! We love giving them our business... A+ for customer service!! read more
