As a senior with diminishing leg strength, neck hardware, and lung issues, I decided to replace my Specialized Turbo Levo SL Comp Carbon mtn bike with another, lighter ebike. Frank helped me look us the Specialized Creo 2 Comp 5 ebike online and assisted with ordering a model with my specifications. Once it arrived, George's service department assembled it and adjusted all the dimensions to match my non-ebike road bike. They spent time explaining all the functions of the Creo 2 and, not exaggerating, they were truly excited for me. Cole, the service manager, has been very helpful, as always, instructing me with the process for having them box my Levo for shipment to a buyer. They're truly a multi-service shop and a very friendly staff. I have had exceptional service for the past 9 years and intend to take advantage of their skills and friendship for the remainder of my cycling career. read more

**Edit: So I mentioned Eagle Bikes on State St a few times in this review. Just drove by there and they are no longer there. Looks like they are no in actual Eagle vs being in Boise in the previous location** So last Spring, my previous gym shut down. It was a sad day for all of us lol. It was super close to my house too, so we rode my bike every day .. during winter months. I can't do that summer heat bull sh*t lol. I liked working out close to home. So next best choice was..Crunch. It's definitely a little farther but I don't mind and I still get to ride my bike. Two doors down is a bike shop called, George's. I'm very seen this shop for years! Just never went in. I was going to Eagle Bike Shop. Nice guys over there, but little pricey, they have odd hours, and I figured since I was now working out at Crunch, that maybe it was time to check Georgie out. Couple weeks ago, went to put air in my tires and as soon as I detached the little thingy from the tire, can you tell I'm kind of a genius when it comes to everything bikes? So I detached the thingy and all the air just left my tire. I wanted to cry. Stopped into George's to ask what they thought, told me to bring it in. Michael helped me both visits. He basically knew right away what the issue was before even seeing the bike...always impressive when someone knows their sh*t :) So I brought it back the next day and it the tubing inside. He replaced it super fast, was super nice about it. Told us he basically been working with bikes since he was a kid. AND it wasn't crazy expensive at all. Previous bike shop charged me a lot more for something similar last year. I now have another issue on the bike and of course will be taking it to Michael. It's an issue the last shop worked on last year...or so I thought. If they had done the right job, I would think I wouldn't need to get the same thing worked on..almost exa year later. I don't mean to talk shit about them, it's just frustrating. It was expensive as hell, too. I'm sure I'll pay a bit more at George's than my first time going there, but I feel I can trust them a little more. Finding a decent guy to work on your bike, who knows his stuff, won't screw you over, is a hard thing to find. For me, it's like finding a good barber, a good mechanic, etc haha. I'm happy I finally went into this store. Quite the place too. Super super clean, a pretty incredible selection of bikes. From what I looked at and only briefly, the few bikes I looked at were expensive as hell haha. Being cheap, I could never afford a $3000 bike lol. However, my bike is definitely older. Bought it and didn't use it for a LONG time. I use it all the time now. I will eventually need to upgrade it. I'd like to now, but this inflation y'all! It's a killer. I'll wait to see what happens in 2024 haha. Georges is great. I'm sure bike enthusiasts who live in this area, this is their bike shop of choice. Eagle Bikes is located not TOO far from George's, but it's randomly on State. George's is easily accessible from State St. It's in a little shopping plaza with a few other businesses. If you've been here, you know it's a great place. I've been only 2x and already love it. Wish all bike shops had guys like Michael. It would certainly ease the minds of many who are scared to take their bikes in for work. Shit is expensive! Or it can be, rather. Again, so far, I trust this place and I regret not going sooner. Always saw this place and had already created in my head what kind of place it was. Glad they proved me wrong. Boise is a major bike city. We have to love where we take them to get worked on. I had yet another good experience with George's on State street again today. After breaking a chain and fixing it on the fly Saturday, I wanted an accurate analysis to reduce the chances that it would happen again. Following a thorough inspection, it was determined that my year old Specialized Levo Turbo Comp SL needed a new chain & gear cluster that had outworn their utility. The service manager, David, had it fixed in hours and I was riding off into the sunset a happy camper, er, cyclist. Thanks again guys! read more

Awesome spot. A family member gave me two bikes that were no longer in use (hadn't been used in at least three years) and they were both extremely flat. I stopped by to ask a few questions and to purchase a cap for one of the bikes tire pressure valves. Not only was I greeted immediately, but they were very polite and courteous while answering all of my questions. They ended up giving me a cap for the two tires that needed them which was so kind. As a continuation of my last review. Tony, in George's service dept, finished converting my Specialized Sirrus 4 Carbon bike from a flat bar configuration to a drop bar setup. This processes in more complex than one might think as all the shifters & brake levels, disc brakes, & cables had to be changed out. I was pretty exited to ride my "new" bike as it's been about 6 yrs since my cycling accident prevented me from riding low enough to use a drop bar system. The bike rides like a dream come true! I could tell by the fit and ride that Tony incorporated all the dimensions from my 'old' bike that he could. I've put on 172 miles since picking it up five days ago. I'm loving the looks & feel of it! It still weight 20 lbs with all accessories on it so I'm very pleased with the conversion. The new disc brake system is better than the previous one. I can tell by the small details, like the precise bar taping, that Tony has an eye for detail. Overall, I am extremely pleased with not only the conversion process but also the empathy that the Dave, Frank, Todd, Cole, & BA showed ever since the long transition process to setting me up with bikes & configurations that were very upright post accident to the transition back to my being able to ride a drop bar system again. It's been 3 years that now has me riding pretty much like it did before my cycling accident. Thanks guys! read more

Super cool staff on the front end and very helpful back in the shop. That said, I just had my derailleur hanger replaced there to the tune of near $60, fing ridiculous!!! Not to mention it took near three weeks to complete the simple task. I had the same service provided on the spot in Bend, OR last July at Pine Mountain Sports for $15 and change. It had been over 6 years since I last had George's Cycles tune up my Raleigh Technium Instinct mountain bike, so I figured it was due. I brought the bike into George's and was told a complete tuneup cost $75 and a deluxe tuneup cost $110, that they were scheduling 1 1/2 weeks out, and that a mechanic had to inspect my bike to tell me what needed to be done and that I'd have to pre-pay for labor before I could get it in the queue. Being a bit of a skeptic I figured this was a way to pad their revenue by finding more things that needed repair. Much to my delight the mechanic put my bike on a stand to inspect it and returned to tell me that other than a hose, some soap, and some lube on the chain, there was nothing he would do to it. When I asked what he would do for $110, he said "Honestly nothing more than that. I'd love to take your money, but you might as well do it yourself." I then asked him how to adjust the position of one of the brake/shifter assemblies and he got out a tool, showed me the somewhat concealed screw and was going to do it for me right then and there, I assume gratis. I *love* ethical repair shops. George's rocks. read more

After this shop was recommended by several people, I decided to give it a shot. First I asked if they knew what parts of the Greenbelt was open after the flood. They had no clue. They didn't seem interested at all. Frustrated that I wasn't finding answers, I went back a couple weeks later and asked again - still no clue. Finally, I found the route through a day of trial-and-error and decided to get this information back to the shop so future customers would know. I was amazed - they were completely disinterested in this information. In fact, I felt like I was shoving this information in their face. Then, after reassembling my bicycle from a shipping box, I took it in to George's to have them look it over. They gave it their seal of approval, so a week later I took it for a ride. I nearly wiped out when my handlebars twisted easily just moments after getting on the bike to ride. And finally - I took my bike back in to install new tires. Within the first ride I had a flat. From the location of the hole, they had neglected to assure the tube wasn't pinched by the tire. I am really unimpressed. They seem nice, seem helpful, but don't really seem like they care about cycling -- nor do they seem interested in the sport. read more

My trike can be a little exhausting but it opens up an entire new part of my life. Today/last morning I rode it down to Georges Cycles off of State street. It now has my handicap sticker and reflectors. Apparantly when I was sitting in the shop as they were putting Green Slime in the tires and people were asking me what the trike is and how and why I'm on it. Well some good sameraritin decided to pay it forward and played for the process and slipped out the side door...So Apparantly people still do "Pay It Forward". Crappy customer service, but a great selection of bikes. I was visiting from out of town and it took a long time for anyone to acknowledge my presence. The salespeople also knew very little about the product they were selling. I had a much better experience at the Trek Boise Store. I like Specialized bikes better than Trek so I will be giving my local shop my business instead. read more

We arrived at George's Cycles 5 minutes before closing time, and they stayed late to replace both tires. We were very appreciative and they were all so kind and helpful. Ordered a $600 bike in late Feb early March as a birthday gift. We were told it would be there by the end of March. Then when April came around we called and were told the end of April. The same thing happened again and again every month, and now we are into June and we were just told the same thing and now the bike will supposedly be here in July. No discounts offered for the inconvenience, kinda rude customer support staff with the attitude of we do enough business that customer satisfaction doesn't seem to high on the agenda. Called in for a 60$ Tune up since thats all i needed. I get there and say a 90$ one is needed, frustrated but fine an extra 30 if thats what it needed. I get there and its 124 because the chain was worn. It was a couple month old chain and i have plenty to replace that at home, there was no call about an extra charge for a 30$ chain I couldve easily done. EXTREMELY pissed off about this and highly do not recommend the service dept if theyre going to pull that kind of stuff. I dont have a lot of money as it is and the shady stuff like that is disgusting. Looking elsewhere read more

These guys will take care of you. The are patient and accommodating and they know their stuff. Happy customers are important to them. There are six of us in my family--my wife and four kids--and we all ride. Our budget dictates that we do a lot of our own repairs. George's is a great place to buy parts (I was blown away when they had an obscure part for an '05 Jamis Dakar in stock), and they have an awesome service department for repairs that are beyond our ability. My 12 and 14 years old sons drop by George's on their bikes for odds and ends and get great service. I can comfortably recommend them. read more

I bought a great mountain bike about 2 years ago from George's off State Street and had a good experience, so when my daughter's chain kept coming off her bike we brought it in. I have never done this ever in my life but I feel I must. I came in for a bike for my fiancé, having called the west state street location to make sure they had a Specialized StumpJumper in moss green in size L. I found out from them that in their database was an XL at the 3rd street location in that same make model and color that was on sale for 3,840 (~700 less than the retail at their location) my fiancé is 6'1.5" and could really use the XL. Welcome to the bait portion of the illegal equation. So I immediately drove over to get it. Arriving, they pulled it out, it was TAGGED 3,840 (I have a photo to show it) and the person helping me looked it over and decided that the bike hadn't been ridden, shouldn't be marked as a demo, and proceeded to get a manager, who TOOK THE TAG OFF in front of me. And there's the switch portion of the illegal equation. Now... I wouldn't be as upset about this if I hadn't been told on the phone, and seen it in person that the price was set for 3,840. They then wanted to appease me by taking 5% instead of the price listed. KNOWING THE LAW... this is outright illegal activity know as "BAIT AND SWITCH" and it really didn't sit well with me. It's not okay. How long had that bike sat there and been entered into their database as such "without being used as a demo this season" !? I'm not one to complain ever but this is so against all moral value and legality. GEORGES LOST OUR BUSINESS THAT DAY. We will never be back. read more
